I'm walking down to the coffee shop on campus to grab Satoru and me a hot chocolate with extra chocolate and marshmallows and Itadori a coffee. Satoru has a meeting with Principal Gakugangi today. I know that old fart won't pick a fight here, but Satoru and I both know he was one of the ones supporting the curse womb attack. Needless to say, we both aren't very happy with him at the moment. The hot chocolate helps keep us from exploding with stress, well it does for me anyways. Satoru doesn't seem bothered much.
As I walk to the coffee shop, I see the first and second years all walking together. Fushiguro and Kugisaki both look pretty beat up. I walk faster over to them concerned.
"What happened?!" I demand as I look Fushiguro and Kugisaki over. There was no scheduled sparring this morning.
"We're fine. Just a few scratches." Kugisaki says sarcastically.
I sigh, "who did this?"
"Aoi Todo is here. He didn't really like my answer about my type of girl I guess." Megumi says.
"Wasn't a bad answer." Kugisaki says crossing her arms and looking away with a blush on her face.
I sigh, "are you going to go see Shoko at least?"
"Is she sober?" Maki says sarcastically.
I roll my eyes and cross my arms, "fine. But no more fights yeah? We can't afford to lose focus. The fate of the exchange event lies with you guys, remember that."
"We know, thanks Sensei." Panda says.
"Bonito flakes." Inunaki agrees.
"Okay, well go train. And I'm serious, no fighting. The exchange event is tomorrow, so be ready." I say.
Panda wiggles his brow, "oh yeah Sensei, we'll be ready."
He's talking about Itadori's return. I just look at him angrily and he drops his smile.
"We've got this, go home and relax. See you tomorrow Sensei." Maki says.
I nod, "yeah, okay, see you guys tomorrow."
They all walk away and I keep making my way to the coffee shop. I make my order and head back with the drink tray in hand. When I return, Satoru and Itadori are sparring, but Itadori is losing, still. He can't touch Satoru. And not because of the infinity. Satoru just keeps dodging. Finally, Itadori gets him by the waist and tries to throw him over his shoulder, but Satoru smiles that maniac smile he does whenever he fights and grabs him instead. He throws him on the ground and Itadori groans.
"Sensei, I don't think this sparring is working." He says with his face in the ground.
"Sure it is! You're slowly getting faster. You're adapting to my dodges and starting to compensate for them. Just keep going on like this and soon that instinct will become natural." He say bending down to talk to him and Itadori comes up to a kneeling position.
Satoru looks over at me and smiles widely, "hello my love. Back already?"
"Yes, but I saw everyone on the way there." I say setting the drinks down. We all grab our cups and take a sip.
"You saw my friends? How are they?!" Itadori asks eagerly.
"They're fine, just got roughed up by the Kyoto students. Aoi Todo being one." I say.
"Aoi Todo huh? I always did like him." Satoru says smirking.
"Who's he?" Itadori asks.
"He's a powerful fighter. He is very smart and agile in combat. Itadori, you'll need to keep your guard up tomorrow. Especially around him." I tell him.
He nods, "I will Sensei."
Alright, enough chit chat. Let's continue." Satoru says.
They put their cups down and continue training.
———
I sit looking out the window at the kids getting ready for the event. Satoru is getting dressed and we're about to head out to re-introduce Itadori to the group. I wonder how they'll feel. I'm sure they'll be happy to see him, but I would feel creeped out honestly. But Satoru is convinced they'll worship him or something. And something about fixing global warming? I don't know, I stopped believing him after that. Itadori seems to feel the same though. Like two peas in a pod. I swear you'd think they're brothers or something. But I love that they're so alike. They compliment each other.
"Ready beautiful?" He asks.
I chuckle, "i'm not beautiful Satoru. I'm fat." I say insecurely.
He sighs and smirks, "you don't see what I see. You're the mother of my son, my best friend in the entire world, and my wife. You are the most beautiful woman in the world to me. Nothing will change my mind."
I smile, "thanks."
"Now c'mon, we have a big day. Itadori makes his debut." He says.
"I know I know, the first years will cry, the second years will celebrate and then somehow, Itadori's return will stop global warming." I say.
"Yes, exactly!" He says pointing at me.
I roll my eyes and laugh at him. He's so goofy, but that partly why I love him, along with plenty of other things.
We walk and in hand down to where we told Itadori to meet us. Itadori is pacing around the room excitedly. I know he's been through the roof excited to see his friends again.
"Gojo Sensei's!" He yells excitedly.
"Hey Itadori! Ready for the big moment?" I ask.
"Oh man, I'm so pumped! What do you think they'll say?" He says.
"Well, the first years will cry," Satoru stars.
"Uhuh." Itadori says eagerly.
"Then the second years will cheer and celebrate," Satoru continues.
"Yeah?" Itadori says smiling.
"And then, your return will solve global warming!" Satoru says triumphantly.
"Awe yeah! C'mon! Let's go then!" Itadori says starting to run away but Sayoru grabs him by the hoodie.
"You've been gone for a while Yugi, you can't just show back up randomly." Satoru explains.
"What? Why not?!" Itadori says outraged.
"You might freak them out if you just walk right up to them out of the blue. Gotta ease them into it." I say.
"Nope! Wrong! We've got to surprise them!" Satoru says.
———
"Satoru, this is a bad idea." I say as he rolls the cart containing Itadori.
"Relax, it'll be fine. Imagine the looks on their faces." He says smiling.
"You mean the looks of horror?" I say.
"No, the look of happiness. They'll all be like 'oh wow Gojo, thanks so much for saving our friend! You're the best sorcerer ever!' It'll be priceless." He says laughing.
I sigh, "you're weird."
"They'll be fine. It'd be worse if he was actually dead." He says flippantly.
I roll my eyes, "wanna bet?"
"Fine, I'll take that bet. If they are excited, then I win. If not, you win. Loser has to do what the winner says." He says.
"I'll take that bet." I say.
We walk up to the students all gathered in the courtyard. Satoru runs up just as they ask where he is.
"Here I am!" He yells.
"Oh great." Maki says as I walk up beside her.
"I've been away on a very important business trip, but now I'm back! And with souvenirs! Kyoto students, you get these cute little souvenirs." He says passing them out to all of them.
"And Tokyo students, I present to you your long lost friend Yugi!" He yells with enthusiasm.
Yugi pops out of the box and throws his hands up, "hey guys, it's me!"
The Kyoto students are too occupied with their souvenirs.
The Tokyo second years are just confused.
And Megumi and Kugisaki look horrified.
I smirk.
Looks like I won the bet.
