Episode 2: Chapter 2

The Leigh family were just a few minutes away from dinner. Mrs. Leigh was quietly humming to herself, all the while stirring the simmering pot that sat in front of her. She wore a black blouse under a red cardigan, capris and slip-ons. Meanwhile, Mr. Leigh was busy typing away on his laptop. He was steadfastly working on his project for work. The second he got home he took out his work outfit for a simple brown t shirt, jeans and boots, before, ironically, going back to his work. While the two adults were spending their time in the kitchen, their twin daughters were sitting on the couch. Minerva was watching one of her shows. She was comfortable in a purple hoodie, jeans and boots of her own. The show seemed familiar but Sophie wasn't caring what was on the screen. She sat with her knees pulled up to her chest with her chin tucked into her thighs. Her outfit was a dark red turtleneck sweater, matching her mood, as well as leggings and sneakers. Tenn was in his room playing with his Transformers toys and doing whatever boys do. A commercial came on advertising some deodorant. The guy who was playing the boyfriend in the commercial had a wide smile and green eyes. It made her think of her crush on Kyle Sherman, and her recent attempt to unwillingly give him the cold shoulder. Unintentionally, she let out a morose sigh. An action her sister immediately caught.

"Ugh!" Minerva stood up and reflexively fixed her hoodie before stomping across the couch over to her twin sister and pulling Sophie's legs out to splay off of the couch.

"Stop your petulant whining, Sophie!" She waved a slightly crooked finger in her face. "You need to stop moping and thinking about that... Boy!"

Sophie looked up. The idea of rebellion caused a flush to appear on her cheeks.

Definitely, she whispered, "You can't tell me how to feel, or what to do!"

Minerva recoiled slightly, but she took a step closer towards her sister. "Don't you ever talk back to me like that! You and I both know that I know what's best for you, and you know I'm right! Now, about K-"

Perhaps she was too loud, but her father's booming voice interrupted her from the next room.

Both teenage girls flinched as their father's heavy footsteps entered the room. "Why are you raising your voice at your sister, Minerva?"

"We were just having a disagreement, is all," she answered sheepishly. "Isn't that right, Sophie?"

Her sister turned towards her. Their father's view was blocked, and Sophie could see the unmistakable scowl on her twin's face for incurring their father's curiosity. A part of Sophie wanted to challenge Minerva by going to her parents, but would that solve anything.

She swallowed the confession down and turned towards her dad with a fake half smile of reassurance, "yeah, everything's fine, Pop."

Their father nodded. "Good. Minerva, grab Tenn. Sophie, help set up the table for dinner. And to both of you, figure out your disagreements for yourself. Your mother and I have a very busy week this week, so please keep distractions to a minimum."

"Yes, sir," the two girls replied.

Both twins separated to do their tasks, but Sophie couldn't help but think that their "disagreement" wouldn't be figured out soon.

Violet laughed, something she didn't normally do due her father's actions and behaviour. But then, she wasn't at home, so it didn't matter. She was out in the snow, dressed warmly for the weather in a purple coat with brown fur around the collar, leggings and black boots with white gloves and a white beanie with a fur pom on top. She wasn't alone either, she was enjoying the snowball fight that AJ had wanted so desperately, so it was her, AJ and Clementine in a three way battle with their snowballs. They do were dressed up warm, Clementine in a black long sleeve t shirt under a denim jacket, black beanie, ripped jeans, boots and black gloves. AJ meanwhile wore a long sleeve red T-shirt under a brown Carhartt, brown slacks and sneakers.

"Nice try, you're not gonna get me." Clementine joked.

AJ laughed. "I already got you three times Clem."

Violet couldn't help but grin at this, she'd never had so much fun in a long time. As she threw yet another snowball her smiled changed into a contemplative one.

'Clem...I, I feel so...I've been acting this way for some time.' She reflected. 'Damn, this is crazy, I...I can't, oh man I-'

She was cut off by a snowball hitting her and then a laugh.

"Got you, Vi!" AJ laughed.

She laughed and shook her head. Of course, at that point the snowball fight had to stop, it was cold after all and Lee calling them back in and so they headed inside to the warmth.

Removing their jackets, boots and, in Clem and Vi's case, their beanies and gloves and AJ was instantly off to sit by the fire and heat up.

"Damn, that kid's got crazy energy." Violet remarked with a laugh.

Clementine grinned. "He does, I don't know where he gets it all from."

Violet nodded at that and accompanied Clem up to her room, as they reached the stairs Lee intercepted them.

"Violet, I called your mother and you can stay here for the night if you want." He explained.

"Thanks, I will." Violet said, all the while thinking. 'Thanks Mom, I guess you're working tonight, so you're making sure I'm not home alone with dad.'

She remained calm however before entering Clem's room and, once the door was shut, she sat down on Clem's bed. Her outward calm would soon be tested however by Clem's next question.

"So Vi, you've been kinda distracted lately, even when AJ nailed you with that snowball, you had been spacing out." She said. "What's going on?"

Violet bit her lip, suddenly feeling her face heat up. 'C-Can I tell her? I...fuck it, I can't deal with this anymore.'

She took a deep breath.

"Well, Clem...there is something." She said. "I've just, I've been sort this out for a long time but...I...Dammit, I'm in love with you."

She froze practically the instant she said it, unable to believe she had blurted it out, her face crimson. Clem was blushing too, eyes wide and Violet cursed herself, she had just blown everything.

"Wow, Vi, that's...you…" She stammered, then, surprisingly, grinned. "You've been dealing with all that for all this time, so have I."

Violet started at that. "You, you have, then, then you-"

"Does this answer your question?"

With that Clem kissed her and Violet felt relief flood her, it certainly did.
