No replies to reviews today. And I may be taking very long breaks between updates. I am not giving up by my life is very very not great at the moment and I am barely managing to update this chapter now. My grandmother is in hospital so I'm spending most of my time there and we're not sure what the prognosis is at the moment but it could be extremely serious so I just can't dedicate much time and energy to writing. I'm sorry. I will try to when I can but I don't know right now.
Percy spent a good hour walking with Argos- the first half an hour or so was spent in the woods, Argos bouncing through the trees, yapping and chasing his tail whenever he got distracted.
After that Percy decided to head to the beach, taking a stick with her to throw it for Argos, who bounded across the sand eagerly after it, returning it to her and leaping on her when he did, knocking her off her feet and dropping the stick to lick her face excitedly.
And Percy had to laugh and fend him off, rolling in the sand with her sweet pup.
She even took the chance to have a morning swim, emerging from the water when she saw that the sun was rising, laughing as Argos plunged into the water, barking happily as he barrelled into her and knocked her onto her ass.
"Argos!" she fended off his licks, letting the waves wash away the dog drool before using him to pull herself to her feet and wandering back towards the cabins, Argos trotting obediently at her heel, pausing every so often to shake himself, spraying saltwater everywhere as he did.
As she approached the cabins Percy saw people moving around, heard the familiar sound of a bunch of teenagers getting ready for the day.
Percy doubted the others were awake yet- they hadn't gotten to sleep until late. She'd have to wake them-
That thought was rudely interrupted by a loud "Holy fuck Silena was fucking right!" loud enough for Percy to hear it from the entrance to the Aphrodite Cabin.
"Drew!" and that was Silena's voice, from inside of the cabin, "Language!"
Not that Drew was paying any attention because she was staring at Percy, a huge grin was spreading across her lips.
"Holy shit Kane I am gonna kick your ass how dare you scare me like that!"
"Drew." Percy was beaming as she jogged towards her friend, ignoring the startled looks and whispers that broke out as she hugged the daughter of Aphrodite, "You bitch I didn't know you were a demigod until Silena mentioned you."
"Hmph." Drew pulled back, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "Honestly it should have been obvious. I mean, you really think perfection like this could be entirely mortal?"
"I can definitely see that you're your mothers daughter." Percy couldn't help but laugh.
"Yo!" that was Travis. "Percy!" and several of the demigods were moving towards them. "When did you get here?"
"Last night." Percy grinned, "I snuck myself and the others in. Wanted to make a splash upon arrival."
"Where are the others?" that came from Clarisse. "Is Castellan here?" there was some uncomfortable shuffling at that and Percy resisted the urge to sigh. She understood it but it did suck.
"Right now he's back at my place." Percy said the words calmly, "He's not here. I'm here with Piper, Annabeth-"
"By the way-" Drew cut in, "Silena said something about you three finally sealing the deal? You're gonna give me all the gossip about that later right?"
"Of course." Percy's lips twitched, "Now as I was saying. Piper, Annabeth, Thalia, Bianca and Bianca's baby brother Nico-"
"Bianca- Hades kid right?" that came from Malcolm. "And her brother must be Hades too?" and ah, that made sense. They were curious about the big three kids.
"Yeah, yeah they both are."
"That sounds cool." That, surprisingly came from a boy, sunny blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was maybe eleven? He had a plaster on his cheek, pale blue with a sun on it, though a second later he was elbowed by a girl with shoulder length red hair with green tips.
"Don't be weird about it Will." She was hissing the words and Percy had to try and hide her grin.
"So where are they then?" Connor asked that, "We've been looking forward to pranking Annabeth again."
"Oh wow, good to know you have a death wish." Percy gave a sly grin. "They'll still be asleep."
"In the Big House?" that came from a taller boy- older too, by a few years at least, with dark skin and muscles that showed he worked with his arms.
"Nope." Percy gave a little bounce, a smirk forming on her lips. "In my cabin."
"In your cabin? You don't have a Cabin-"
"Who said that? Argos, Argos be a good boy and go find Pipes and Annie."
The hellhound gave an excited little yap, tail wagging at high speed as he took off, speeding past startled campers, and he only just stopped in time to avoid crashing into the door that led into her cabin. Percy laughed brightly as he dropped down, sitting and letting out an excited yap.
"Oh you are such a good boy Argos." She muttered a spell and the doors swung open, Argos rushed in.
Maybe twenty seconds later Annabeth and Piper were staggering to the door, Piper's eyes going all squinty as she glared, and then.
"PERCY!" and oh, oh that was fury.
"You're dead Seaweed brain."
"Excuse me people." Percy's voice was light, "I'm going to go and hide in the lake for the next ten hours-" she swung around, ready to run but she found herself almost crashing into Chiron, who was stood behind her, an amused look on his face.
"Ah. Miss Kane, I'm glad to see that you've arrived and made yourself at home. Was your cabin comfortable?"
"I mean, yeah." Percy blinked, "It smells like the sea in there. I love it, but uh, I should go."
"Oh you're not going anywhere." That growl came from Piper, who was advancing on her, "I am going to make you pay-"
"Chiron-"
"Children." Chiron was clearly trying to stop his own laughter. "Children please behave. I am sure you can work out your differences soon enough. Welcome back to Camp."
"Wait." Clarisse' voice was the loudest over the clamour coming from the other demigods, "What the fuck? Her cabin? Cabin three?"
"Yes." Chiron let out a long suffering sigh, "Miss Kane is Poseidon's daughter."
"Dude!"
"Holy shit-"
"He broke the oath too?"
"She's a big three kid?!"
"She's older than Thalia-"
"The prophecy-"
"People people-" Percy held up her hands, "Calm down. It's not that big a deal. Prophecy smophecy-"
"Percy I say this with love and affection but smophecy isn't a word." Annabeth was twitching. "You made that up-"
"Shakespear made up words all the time but people didn't judge him for his genius-"
"I-" Annabeth opened and closed her mouth, clearly trying to figure out how to argue her point.
"She's not wrong." Piper snorted, her anger at being so rudely awakened fading a little. They did both enjoy teasing Annabeth from time to time. And Annabeth shot Piper a betrayed look.
"Anyway, like I was saying, there was a prophecy that Apophis would eat Ra and we were all shitting ourselves when we thought that was happening. And guess what, I just dived down his throat and exploded us out. Simple. Prophecies are really subjective, like who knows what they mean right?"
"How can you be both so smart and so dumb all at once?" Annabeth's voice was exasperated. And don't you look at me like that Piper you're just as bad-"
"I knew you three would just be unbearably cute." Drew piped up, letting out a huff, "I mean, that much was obvious the first time I saw you morons. Thank the gods you're not being idiots anymore."
"It's you." Piper's eyes narrowed, "Should have known you'd be here."
"Awe." Drew fluttered her eyelashes, "My new baby sister already hates me I'm doing so well-"
"Piper, Drew play nice-"
"I mean she is-"
"Annabeth."
"Fine." And Percy was pleased when both of her girlfriends backed down a little. She knew Drew annoyed them both but Drew was her friend.
"Children." That came from Chiron again, "Please don't. Miss Kane, I assume Miss Grace, Miss DiAngelo and her brother are still asleep."
"Probably not anymore." Annabeth spoke up, "We were not quiet."
"We were jumped on by a freaking hellhound no one would be quiet-"
"Hellhound-" Clarisse snorted, "Come on it's a big dog-"
"No, no-" Percy held up a hand, "No he is a hellhound,. The collar makes him smaller but he is most definitely a hellhound aren't you boy?" She crouched down as she saw Argos appearing from inside of the Cabin, speeding towards her, and she hugged him close, scratching his neck and undoing his collar, causing several yells as he grew bigger, his excited yaps deepening.
"You have a freaking hellhound?" Travis yelped the words, "How?! Who has a pet hellhound."
"Hades favorite niece." Percy didn't even falter, "Runt of the litter. A bit too soft according to uncle Hades so he gave Argos to me as a birthday present." Percy kept scratching the hellhounds neck as he pressed into her side, his weight nearly making her fall over. "He's a big softy really, though he does have a protective streak."
"That's cool." That came from the boy with the blue bandaid, who darted forward despite an older boy who looked a lot like him's efforts to stop him. "He's a giant puppy."
"He is." Percy nodded, "Sit Argos- gentle." Because the boy was reaching out and pressing a hand to Argos' nose, and Argos was practically vibrating with poorly restrained excitement and the desire to lunge forward and lick the boy to death.
"You've trained him well." Chiron remarked. "I must say I didn't realise he'd be so well behaved. And the collar does seem to be a useful feature."
"Makes it easier for him to actually live in the house." Percy shrugged, "Uncle Hades said he's gonna get super big as he gets older so if I want him to be able to stay inside he kinda needs the collar." She carefully fastened it back around the hellhounds neck, smiling as he shrank back to a more manageable size, though he was still a big dog all things considered. "As for training… I took it very seriously. I don't want any accidents. He's my responsibility." Percy pressed a kiss to the top of Argos' head, which made a few campers coo.
"Well. I'm sure that as long as he behaves he'll be fine to stay in camp during your visits. Which I hope will be frequent enough for you to get to know everyone here. I was hoping I could have a word with you when you arrived. Perhaps once you've woken Thalia and the young DiAngelo's you could all come to the Big House?"
"Of course." Percy gave a quick nod, "That's not a problem at all."
"It really isn't." Annabeth was grinning, "I was actually hoping to talk to you about Capture the Flag later Chiron."
"Why do I feel like I may regret whatever you wish to discuss." Chiron looked amused as he said that, shaking his head before adding; "We will talk soon. Wake the other children up. Perhaps have breakfast and then you can all join me in the Big House." He paused, "I would ask you to eat at your designated tables but I doubt that would be at all effective and Poseidon doesn't seem offended by your actions thus far Percy so I will allow mixing in this case."
"Yeah honestly I don't think my father is capable of getting angry at me for now." Percy gave a sheepish grin. "Too excited that I'm alive. We'll go wake Thalia, Bia and Neeks up. And we'll talk to you properly after breakfast Chiron!"
