Chapter 75

Everyone stared at Kraken as he cooked with an innocent smile on his face. Kraken was just one of the strong marines the Straw Hats have told the shinobi so much about, but to the residents of the Grand Line and the rest of the four blues, Kraken was so much more. Everyone except Akainu and Smoker sat around the fire.

"It's so fascinating seeing more shinobi!" Jimbei said.

Naruto and Team 7 looked at the whale shark man.

"You've met other shinobi, Mr. Jimbei?" Naruto asked.

"Of course! You all know of Psycho I'm sure." Jimbei said.

Everyone got chills in their bodies at the mention of that name. Kraken's hat hid his expression.

"As well as Issho before the government changed his name once he became an Admiral." Jimbei continued.

Naruto turned and looked at Issho.

"You were a shinobi!?" Naruto asked.

Sakura, Kakashi, and Sasuke face palmed.

"Are you just now noticing me!?" Issho asked, "But yes young Uzumaki, I too was a shinobi! I was supposed to take up the Tsuchikage mantle after Lord Onoki." Issho said.

"Why didn't you?" Naruto asked.

"The draft happened... I was forced into the Marines and Lord Onoki had to take up another term." Issho explained.

Naruto stared at Issho with a shocked face, then at the ground, his headband hiding his expression. HIs fist started to shake. Naruto remembered what that mustached elder told him in that boiler room about the draft that takes place every year. 1,000 shinobi are drafted to fight for the Marines and killed if they don't. Naruto was talking to one of few survivors of that torture.

"Kraken-san." Sasuke said.

Kraken looked back.

"Hm? What's up Sasuke?" Kraken asked.

"What do you know about... Fuyu Uchiha." Sasuke asked.

Kraken's hat hid his expression once more.

"How do you know that name?" Kraken asked.

"The elders. They had files on anyone who's ever been in the Grand Line. I already know he's a son of Psycho." Sasuke asked.

Kraken sighed.

"That's pretty much it honestly... his background is vague, but I always heard by the time you saw him it was too late." Kraken said.

Everyone shivered at the line.

"Have you met any other ninja, Jimbei-san?" Kakashi asked.

"Oh, yes! I've met a rather eccentric fellow named Jiraiya! And another respectable young man... I can't quite remember... oh yes, Itachi! He was an Uchiha has well I believe!" Jimbei said.

The ninja were filled with absolute shock, Naruto so much on the Itachi part, he already knew Jiraiya had been to the Grand Line through the mustached elder's monologue.

"I-I-Itachi..." Sasuke stuttered.

"Did you know him, Sasuke?" Jimbei asked.

"He was my brother." Sasuke said.

JImbei's face became hilariously shocked.

"You're an Uchiha as well!?" Jimbei asked.

"Yes, and I also found out Psycho is my grandfather and Robin is my aunt..." Sasuke said.

"All of this must be hard for you!" Jimbei said, "You know our go to fighting style "fishman karate" is derived from the shinobi's taijutsu!"

Kakashi was slightly shocked.

"The fishmen and shinobi go back centuries! Before everything went left the two groups co-existed well! The shinobi trained eager young fishmen taijutsu and over time it evolved into our own fighting style." Jimbei explained.

Lionel walked over to Naruto.

"So, you're a shinobi! My pops always told me about you. He said you guys were awesome and didn't get why you got the hate you did." Lionel said.

"Who was your pops?" Naruto asked.

"His name was Whitebeard! I doubt you've heard of him." Lionel said.

"Well, I think the snake lady told us he died as well as Luffy's other brother at some war?" Naruto asked.

Lionel stopped smiling and stared with his mouth slightly open and his eyes wide, almost as if he was reliving something, his eyes started to tear up and he became angry and jumped onto Naruto!

"IT WASN'T JUST SOME WAR THEY SHOT HIM SO MANY TIMES I HATE THE SOUND OF GUNSHOTS I HATE EXPLOSIONS!" Lionel yelled.

Naruto was confused and shocked.

"What the hell are you talking about!? Get him off me!" Naruto said, but then he was surprised! Lionel was looking at Naruto and yelling at him, but he wasn't talking to him! Lionel was completely out of it.

"SO MUCH BLOOD ALL MY FRIENDS DIED!" Lionel continued to yell.

Kraken continued cooking but looked back slightly.

A hand touched Lionel's shoulder and he snapped back to reality. Lionel looked up to see Okua standing over him.

"It's Okay, Lionel Newgate." Okua said softly.

Lionel's eyes started to tear up again, this time with happiness.

"You dummy! How long have you been alright!" Lionel said.

"For a while actually! That was indeed a nice nap..." Okua said.

"NAP ARE YOU KIDDING ME I SAVED YOUR LIFE!" Nagashima yelled.

"Ah, Nagashima Kingo-san! You indeed did save me I thank you for that." Okua said, Nagashima continued to shake his fist.

Okua looked around at everyone and sat at the fire with the group. Sakura commented.

"ARE YOU JUST NOT GOING TO ACKNOWLEDGE US!?" Sakura yelled.

"Oh! Shinobi! It is a pleasure to finally meet you!" Okua said cheerfully.

Okua then looked over and saw Mihawk and the two exchanged nervous glances.

Naruto got up, dusted himself off and walked over to Kraken.

"What was all that about?" Naruto asked.

"Oh, Lionel? Well, he's been through a lot. He fought at that war too you know, he watched his dad, Ace, and plenty of friends die. He's got a serious case of PTSD. Loud noises frighten him and he snaps when he hears gunshots." Kraken explained.

"But his ability, he can shoot beams that explode." Naruto said.

"That's true, but he only uses the ability when he's angry and isn't paying attention to the noise. He's full of rage but tries is best to remain positive he's got a lot of untapped potential!" Kraken said.

"I never thought I'd see the day... shinobi standing before me and not kneeling at my boot!" Akainu yelled.

Everyone looked over at Akainu and Smoker.

The shinobi just stared at him. Kraken had already told him beforehand about Akainu's feelings toward shinobi. Naruto walked towards him and extended a hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Marine!" Naruto said.

Akainu stared at Naruto slightly surprised, or so it seemed.

"Get that innocent blood-stained hand away from my face! I will never shake a ninja's hand!" Akainu said, spitting on Naruto's jacket.

Luffy stood up.

"What are you going to do Straw Hat!? I'll kill you right now!" Akainu yelled.

Naruto put his arm out as to tell Luffy to calm down.

"I don't know what your personal grudge is with the shinobi, but I think you've got the wrong idea... one day we're going to do something about that rage!" Naruto said.

Everyone stared at Naruto, smiling. Smoker was shocked but kept it to himself.

"Why didn't he lash out and try to kill the fleet admiral after such disrespect? Aren't these guys animals?" Smoker asked himself.

"Alright everyone, it's done!" Kraken said.

Kraken had made elephant fish strips with a side of broccoli soup and sake.

"I hope you all enjoy!" Kraken said.

Everyone loved the food and ate well!

"This food is amazing Kraken-san! I must have the recipe." Sanji said.

Kraken smiled.

"It's yours Sanji! You may have to remind me." Kraken said.

"Kraken-san, when we left the Red Line there was a terrible storm, but almost immediately after this island came into view it was sunny again, why is that?" Kakashi asked.

Kraken put down his plate and cleared his throat.

"Well, I guess now is good a time as ever, right?" Kraken asked.

Everyone stared with interest and confusion.

"This island... a fight to the death took place here. When logia devil fruits are awakened, they change the environment to match that of the fruit. The glint glint fruit's awakened abilities were used here forcing eternal sunlight on this island." Kraken said.

"Who fought?" Naruto asked.

"Psycho, Cyclone... and me." Kraken finally said.
