Chapter 90
Robin lay in her bed, listening to the DEATH workers as they prepared for "Phase 2" as Psycho called it. By tomorrow afternoon, this entire headquarters is going to be empty. With nothing to show for it except the ginormous tower the DEATH members built for Psycho, it sat atop the old Marineford base. So much has happened in just one day, Robin is just now understanding her situation. Robin sat up in bed.
"I have to get answers for myself!" Robin said, getting up, "I'm inside DEATH's main headquarters, and from what I understand, no one up here can harm me..."
Robin slowly opened the door to her room and closed the door behind her.
"HEY! GET BACK IN THERE! NOW!" A loud voice yelled.
Robin flinched hard as she froze.
"What the hell are you doing up here!? Get back in that meeting room and keep cleaning!" A worker yelled at another.
"But everything in this base will be gone by tomorrow! What's the point?" The worker argued.
"Don't worry about it. You can discuss with Psycho why his war room is filthy." The boss said, walking away.
"No! Wait!" The worker yelled, following.
Robin took a huge sigh of relief.
Robin walked through the HQ thinking about the last time she had a one on one with Psycho, Robin learned a lot, she learned why the shinobi were exiled from these lands and Psycho's story, but Robin still had way more questions than answers. Robin continued through the HQ until she came across Zayoshi and Mifune.
"Nico... Pigeon! No... Nico Cardinal?" Zayoshi guessed.
Mifune sighed.
"You fool, it's Nico Robin. You forgot the bosses daughters' name?" Mifune asked.
"Ohhhh I'm not a name guy you know that!" Zayoshi said smiling.
Robin could feel the power oozing from these two.
"Who-Who are you?" Robin asked.
"Oh, How rude of us! My name is Zayoshi, I'm from the island of Zou!" Zayoshi exclaimed.
"And I am from the land of Wano. My name is Mifune." Mifune answered.
"Zou? Wano? But Zou is a Mink island, and I thought Wano's boarders were closed? It's impossible to leave." Robin asked.
"Times were different when we were young, young lady!" Zayoshi said.
"You know your stuff, Psycho did tell us you're quite the archaeologist." Mifune said.
"Indeed he did." Zayoshi said with a smile, "Psycho wants to take her to that library in the morning."
Mifune crossed his arms.
"Consider yourself lucky, Nico Robin. You're going to get to see the world as we see it, you should be grateful." Mifune said softly.
Robin was confused.
"What do you mean, "See it as we see it?" Robin asked.
A DEATH soldier ran upstairs.
"Sirs! We have an intruder!" The DEATH member yelled.
"Impossible!" Zayoshi yelled.
"We've been able to identify him! His name is Nagashima Kingo! He's got a bounty of 685,000,000 Berries, and intel says he has some fruit called "the cosmo cosmo" fruit." A soldier said.
"Excuse us Nico Robin!" Zayoshi said as he and Mifune ran after the soldier.
Robin used this opportunity to snap out of it and run to Psycho's office.
After a few minutes of running, Robin found Psycho's office.
"There have to be more answers here... there have to be!" Robin said, going into the office and slowly closing the door behind her.
DEATH HQ (Inside headquarters)
"HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!" Nagashima yelled as he ran through the HQ.
"When the hell did he sneak in!?" A soldier asked as they chased Nagashima.
"Who knows!? We have to capture him before the bosses get back!" Another soldier yelled.
Nagashima ran down a hall and turned a corner.
"Oh god..." Nagashima squealed as Kuro and Lucci looked right at him.
"Who the hell is that?" Kuro asked.
"You!" Lucci said with an insane smile, charging Nagashima.
Nagashima turned and tried to run but Kuro was blocking his way.
"WHAT THE HELL!" Nagashima yelled.
"Give up. You can't escape me." Kuro tried to grab Nagashima.
"You sure jack ass!?" Nagashima laughed as he jumped in a portal.
"Damn!" A soldier yelled.
"How does this fruit's teleportation work? Does anyone know?" Kuro asked.
"He can teleport anywhere he wants to when he jumps in those portals, they take him to a separate plane where he can wait and plan out his next move." Lucci explained.
Kuro rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"If I had known this would be this stressful I could have stayed a pirate..." Kuro said to himself.
Zayoshi and Mifune joined up with the others.
"Did you get your hands on the intruder?" Zayoshi asked.
"No. He used his cosmo powers to escape." Lucci said.
"Damn!" Zayoshi yelled.
"But he didn't leave the island, which I know for sure." Lucci said.
"How are you so sure?" Mifune asked.
Lucci thought about Robin being on the island.
"He he can't leave until he gets what he came here for." Lucci said with an evil smile.
PSYCHO'S OFFICE
Robin looked around the big office with a flashlight. There were all sorts of weapons all over the room, as well as banners with Psycho's sharingan on them, and Uchiha fans patterned the walls. Robin walked up to one of the fans.
"Mr. Sasuke has one of these on his clothes, and dad does too." Robin said.
Realizing what she said, Robin dropped the flashlight. A siren had gone off on the island alerting the DEATH members there was an intruder so the sound of the flashlight was drowned out.
"Why did I just say that..." Robin said softly as she picked up the flashlight, Robin snapped out of it.
"I need to do what I came in here to do!" Robin said, walking over to Psycho's desk and going through it.
Robin stumbled upon the scrolls Psycho put on the table earlier and put them on the table.
"I want to open them... but I don't know what they'll do... he said there are... people in them." Robin said as she continued through the drawers.
Robin didn't find much until she came across a certain stack of papers. Robin turned the papers over and covered her mouth.
HIDDEN LEAF NEWS! THE MEN WHO CALL THEMSELVES "PSYCHO UCHIHA" AND "CYCLONE" HAVE BEEN DECLARED A MISSING NIN AFTER THEIR ARMY WAS DEFEATED FOR A SECOND TIME! PSYCHO'S PARTNER AND FIRST LADY OF "DEATH" KAYA OTSUSUKI HAS BEEN KILLED! 400 SHINOBI KILLED IN RETALIATION! ZAYOSHI IS RUMORED TO STILL BE IN THE NINJA WORLD! A MAN HUNT HAS BEEN STARTED!
Psycho, Zayoshis, and Cyclones' pictures were on the bottom of the paper.
WANTED: PSYCHO UCHIHA, 1,500,00 ryo. WANTED: Zayoshi the Acid: 1,500,000 ryo. WANTED: CYCLONE, 1,500,000 ryo.
Tears began to fall down Robin's face but she had to keep going.
LEAF VILLAGE BREAKING NEWS! WORLD WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED! MYSTERIOUS SHINOBI, "PSYCHO UCHIHA" AND "CYCLONE" HAVE DECLARED WAR ON THE ENTIRE SHINOBI WORLD!
Another picture of Psycho was on the paper. Psycho looked the exact same in all three as he does now.
WANTED: PSYCHO UCHIHA 100,00 ryo. WANTED: CYCLONE 500,000 ryo.
"Who did he say was behind this crazy eternal youth? Some lady named Kataka... what kind of power does she have..." Robin said.
Robin moved to another paper, this one was much older, so old it was in a different language.
"What the?" Robin said outloud to herself, "I... I kind of recognize it... I think it's a dead language called "Tonosa." Robin looked down to see another picture of Psycho, he was wanted in this time period too.
"Murder... high king... Uchiha Psycho, Cyclone the demon... their heads wanted for 2,000 river cash each.. That's all I can make out..." Robin said, "What even is all this... he told me he started one war because the Hidden Leaf killed Kaya... but the paper says she was killed because she was a DEATH member... has he been... lying about everything?" Robin said out loud, "All that mess about seeing the horrors of this world... He's been the one causing suffering for centuries!"
Robin angrily went to another paper that was in another language. Robin couldn't read this one at all, but Psycho and Cyclone were once again wanted for an insane amount of that time's currency for assassinating some top figure.
"Those tears... they seemed so real... and I fell for them!" Robin yelled, throwing the papers.
"He's been hiding in these lands every time his attempt at conquering the Shinobi world fails... and when they least expect it... he attacks again. DEATH's presence was known by important figures and Vivi's treaty with the Shinobi world would have exposed that to the Shinobi and Psycho still being alive would have been revealed..." Robin said.
"You really are a brilliant young woman." A cold deep voice said.
Robin shook in her boots. Robin turned around to see Psycho standing in the doorway.
Psycho stared at Robin and the papers.
"So you saw what I've been up to." Psycho said softly.
Robin, with tears in her eyes and a fierce look, spoke to Psycho with anger and disappointment in her voice.
"Take me to my friends now. You're a liar. This is over." Robin said.
Psycho looked down.
"Robin..."
"NOW!" Robin yelled, "YOU LIED ABOUT YOUR GIRLFRIEND DYING, YOU LIED ABOUT BEING EXPOSED TO HORRORS ALL YOUR LIFE AND THAT'S WHY YOU WANT TO RULE THE WORLD TODAY! IT'S ALL A LIE!" Robin yelled, "You...you're pure evil..."
Psycho looked away.
"I... didn't lie about you though, did I?" Psycho asked.
Robin was shocked he asked that, she hadn't even thought of that.
"I...I still don't even know if that's true either!" Robin yelled, tears forming.
Psycho slowly walked towards Robin.
"Get away from me!" Robin yelled, holding her arms up, ready to attack.
Psycho held up a hand.
"Robin, stop. You didn't go into the drawer deep enough." Psycho said.
Robin's eyes widened and she looked back towards the dresser.
Psycho continued to stare, he looked like he had regret on his face. Robin slowly walked back to the desk and went to the bottom. Robin held her mouth and tears fell heavily.
Robin had discovered a picture of herself as a newborn baby, with her mom and Psycho holding her in smiling arms. Robin had never seen her mom look so happy and full of life. Robin definitely never thought she'd see Psycho so happy.
"Oh my goodness..." Robin said, dropping the picture on the desk.
"She was just like her, Olivia." Psycho said, staring blankly.
Robin looked up with sad eyes.
"She reminded me so much of Kaya... After Kaya died... I never thought I'd meet anyone I'd love that much again. After the second war I decided to hide out on the island of scholars... Ohara. There was a library there I had heard about, I wanted to see what they had for me to learn while I rested up from the war. Down the stairs she walked... with that beautiful smile and... of course... that beautiful white hair..." Psycho said, "It was love at first sight it must have been... we were inseparable after that... we didn't even know each other."
Robin kept listening with a sad face.
"When they... when they destroyed the island... that's when war with these lands started too. I've never forgiven them for Olivia's death, I still don't." Psycho said.
"So... all this stuff about... controlling the Grand Line and New World to keep the peace at once..." Robin asked softly.
"...is all a front for my revenge for Olivia. My real beef is with the Shinobi world, it always has been. I took control of the four blues and Grand Line to piss the government off and to get the chance to kill a few old enemies I had from back in the day." Psycho confessed.
Robin couldn't believe what she was hearing. All this... for her mom?
"That's the truth... the whole truth." Psycho said softly.
Robin kept staring at the ground. She didn't know what to believe.
"If you still want to go back to your friends, you know what to do." Psycho said, walking past Robin, "And you don't have to bother searching for any more intel."
Robin's eyes shot open.
"I already told them everything. Everything." Psycho said.
Robin stared at the door to Psycho's office without turning back to Psycho.
"Why? Why would you do that?" Robin asked.
Psycho was quiet for a moment.
"I don't know." Psycho said softly.
The two stared in opposite directions in silence.
DEATH HQ (CITY)
"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" Nagashima yelled as he ran from DEATH members.
"Lucci was right! He's still here!" A member yelled.
Nagashima ran as fast as he could and turned around.
"Alright, eat this! COSMO FIST!" Nagashima yelled, sending his fist into a portal to his side.
The DEATH members looked up as a giant portal opened above them and a green galaxy fist came out of the portal and slammed into them!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
"Sound every alarm we've got! We're under attack!" Soldiers yelled.
The entire island became even louder as more sirens went off.
"Are the sirens here to alert intruders or deafen the intruders!?" Nagashima yelled, covering his ears, "I gotta get back in that building!"
Nagashima jumped into a portal and came out in the meeting hall.
"Alright... I've got to find this Robin chick asap!" Nagashima yelled.
"He's in the meeting hall! I heard him! He's here for Nico Robin!" A soldier yelled.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS!" Nagashima yelled, covering his head.
The sound of someone teleporting in behind Nagashima made his entire face go black and he looked back to see Cyclone standing behind him, beaten up from his fight with Kaido.
"Well what do we have here." Cyclone said.
"NO!" Nagashim yelled as Cyclone tried to grab him.
"Damn it! COLLECTOR! WHO'S WHO!" Cyclone yelled.
Collector landed in front of Nagashima and threw his lantern at him.
"HELL LANTERN!" Collector yelled as 8 blue fire balls exploded from the lantern and came for Nagashima.
Nagashima held out a hand and 8 portals sucked up the fire balls.
"What!?" Collector yelled.
"How's this you ugly fuck!" Nagashima yelled as the portals grouped to form a bigger portal. Collector stared at the portal.
"YOU FOOL HE'S ABOUT TO FIRE ALL THE FIRE BALLS IN ONE BIG ATTACK!" Cyclone yelled grabbing his sword.
Who's-Who zipped in next to Nagashima and attempted to stab him in the side with his knife.
"Die!" Who's-Who yelled.
"DON'T!" Nagashima yelled.
As Who's-Who inserted the knife into Nagashima's side, a small portal opened up on Nagashima's body! The knife entered the portal and Who's-Who was slighty sucked in.
"Where did my arm go!?" Who's-Who yelled.
Nagashima smiled.
"The cosmo cosmo is a logia you freak, conventional attacks don't work on me! Anything that attacks me gets sucked into a portal the size of the impact wound!" Nagashima explained.
Who's-Who was shocked but smiled.
"Then I'll pull my arm out and stab you in your neck with haki!" Who's-Who yelled with a smile.
"Yeah! Your arms coming out alright tough guy!" Nagashima laughed.
Who's-Who was confused.
Cyclone grew a vein in his head.
"LET THE KNIFE GO YOU DAMN FOOL!" Cyclone yelled, but it was too late.
Who's-Whos' arm came out of a small portal that had appeared directly above the other! Who's-Who stabbed himself in the chest.
"BLECH!" Who's-Who coughed up blood and fell over, his arm retreacting from both portals, which closed.
Cyclone dashed towards Nagashima.
"I SHOULD HAVE DESTROYED THAT FRUIT CENTURIES AGO!" Cyclone yelled.
"Too bad you didn't old timer!" Nagashima yelled, a portal opening under Cyclone.
"No...!" Cyclone yelled.
"Your creepy buddy probably wouldn't have survived this but... the way you're banged up, there's no way you will either!" Nagashima said.
Cyclone looked down.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A massive blue fire pillar shot straight through the top of DEATH HQ.
"What the hell was that!?" A soldier outside said.
"The intruder is inside! Kill him!" The soldiers said, running into the HQ."
After the smoke cleared, Cyclone disabled the energy shield he used to protect himself and breathed in and out heavily.
"That was way too close... If I die right now and Jambavan shows up... all this is over..." Cyclone said, looking around the room. Nagashima was nowhere to be found. The only ones in the meeting hall were Collector, Cyclone, Who's-Who and a few soldiers who watched the fight.
"Where did he go? All of you!" Cyclone yelled.
"He went through that hole in the ceiling your excellency!" Collector yelled.
Before Cyclone could teleport away, Who'-s-Who grabbed his leg.
"No... he... left the meeting room out the doors up front..." Who's-Who said weakly.
Cyclone looked back and forth between the two.
"WELL WHICH ONE IS IT!?" Cyclone yelled.
"It's neither sir!" A soldier said.
"We watched everything from the sidelines! He ran through the kitchen!" Another chimed in.
Cyclone couldn't believe what he was hearing. Three different people all watched the exact same fight, but they've all got different stories.
"What in the HELL IS GOING ON!" Cyclone screamed with anger.
