Chapter 15: Overcoming the Past and Making way to the Future
After Shin had confessed to Salamandinay, Naga and Kaname on how he helped create the Ragna-mail, he told them how he was there with Embryo on the day he would unleash them upon the world, only to destroy it.
"It may have happened over 500 years ago. But I'll always remember it like it was yesterday. In fact, it's something I will never forget even after I'm dead." Shin said before he closed his eyes and remembers the day when the Ragna-mail were created.
Shin is seen in the hangar that was once Embryo's laboratory, where he was standing in front of one of the seven Ragna-mail he created.
The Ragna-mail was colored purely black except for the red trim on its body along with some dark blue and has a golden frame beneath its armor with pointed ends that goes upward and has a silver head ornament of a woman and has a red visor with wings for arms. It has two wings with a longsword beneath its left ring and has a beam rifle behind its waist, it has two armor attachments on its forearms which is able to produce a beam shield and can act as a grapnel launcher.
The hangar also houses the other Ragna-mail, each having the same color scheme while having different colored and styled trims and head ornaments.
The Ragna-mail in front of Shin is Unit Number, EM-CBX007 Bilkis, the seventh and final Ragna-mail.
After all, seven Ragna-mail were completed, Shin was running their final systems check on six of them using his personal tablet.
With Shin was Embryo, his former friend and soon to be enemy. He was also standing in front of one Ragna-mail.
Like its six other brethren, it also has a black color scheme with a golden frame and has purple trim on its armor and wings. But it has a golden spiral antenna sprouted from its forehead while a pair of wings sprouted from each of its engine pods. Also, on its face it had a dark color mouthpiece and has two green eyes instead of a visor.
This is Ragna-mail Unit Number, EM-CBX001 Hysterica, Embryo's personal machine, the very first and most powerful Ragna-mail.
Embryo smiles at the Hysterica and looks at the other Ragna-mail before he speaks to Shin.
"How are they, Shinya?" Embryo asked.
"Everything looks good. Just need to do final systems check just in case." Shin answered.
"Good. I knew I was right to count on you." Embryo said and Shin chuckles while rubbing the back of his head.
"Oh, please. I don't deserve all the credit. We built these machines together." Shin said before he went back to checking the Ragna-mails' systems. "But you know, working with you on this island, it really does feel like the good old days."
Embryo chuckles.
"Yes. Even I admit I've felt a bit nostalgic." He said.
The reason for that is because both Shin and Embryo had worked on this very island for years. This island was once the world's leading particle research lab, Embryo was originally the chief scientist and Shin worked under him as his personal lab assistant.
The two of them had discovered and created many things here. Quantum-Spatial Drives. Uniform theory. The discovery of the multiverse and how to travel between dimensions.
Upon working on this island, both Shin and Embryo had formed a close bond and Shin would often see him not only as a mentor but as a father as well and Embryo also thought of Shin as a son.
But after the accident two years ago which resulted in wiping out a quarter of the island, it was deemed a class five hazardous location and was decommissioned by the government. Most of the scientists and Shin included were forced to leave while Embryo was declared dead since his body was never found.
The island was left untouched before Embryo miraculously appeared and reunited with Shin. They decided to build the Ragna-mail, thankfully most of the equipment were left untouched and were able to finish them in less than a year.
Just in time too. The D-War was reaching its final breaking point. While he had some reluctance of using them for war, Shin had hoped once the Ragna-mail makes their appearance, both the Unified Economic Federation and the Pancontinental Alliance will reach a diplomatic solution and will finally end this war.
After that the Ragna-mail will be a force of good that will defend the Earth, just like him and his friends. But he will soon see that it will be his ultimate undoing.
After finishing the final systems check on all seven Ragna-mail, Shin notices something inside of each of their shoulder units.
"Hmm?" Shin said before he checked to see what it was.
The Blue Ranger saw that six of the Ragna-mail are equipped with a certain weapon that they shouldn't have. In fact, it was something that both him and Embryo had agreed upon together.
"Wait this can't be right." Shin said and Embryo turned to him.
"Is something wrong, Shinya?" He asked.
Shin turns to him as he checks his tablet once again to make sure it wasn't an error.
"Well…If I'm reading this right, all seven Ragna-mail are equipped with their own Discord Phasers." Shin said.
"Yes, that's right. Afterall, they were meant to have them." Embryo said, and Shin's worries and suspicion only grew larger.
"But we agreed that only the Hysterica should have those. Doctor, what are you planning?" Shin questions his mentor and idol.
Embryo was silent for a short moment before he chuckled.
"You always have been too smart for your own good." He said before he snapped his fingers which activated all seven Ragna-mail and Shin was shocked to see this.
"What the?!" Shin said.
Then one of the Ragna-mail attacks Shin by slamming its hand at him, the Blue Ranger dodges by rolling on the ground before he avoids another Ragna-mail's attack as it swings its sword at him.
When Shin stood up, he saw all seven standing in front of him and from his position, they almost looked like fallen angels who would bring chaos and destruction to the world.
He then heard Embryo chuckling and saw he was standing on the Hysterica's shoulder.
"Now Shinya, it will be good for both of us if you would stand down and let me pass." Embryo told his former pupil.
"You know I can't do that. I don't know what you're planning, but I can't allow it to happen." Shin said. He soon uses his technopathic powers to disable the Ragna-mail.
But all seven machines were able to repel and cancel his attempt, Shin groans in pain as he steps back and looks at the Ragna-mail in shock.
"How in the…?" Shin said before he heard Embryo laughing at him.
"Oh, come now! Did you honestly think I didn't install a safety measure against that little trick of yours?" Embryo questions him.
"Maybe. But did you have a safety measure for this? Access the Morphin Grid!" Shin said as he uses his Morpher to transform into his Ranger Form.
Embryo sighed and shook his head.
"Honestly, Shinya, you should've made this easy for me and stand down." Embryo then snaps his fingers and all seven Ragna-mail bring out and aim their beam rifles at him before they fire.
Shin uses his wolf-like movement to avoid their blaster fire before he jumps and rolls on the ground. He quickly took cover behind a metal shield that withstood the Ragna-mails' beam rifles.
Shin quickly uses his Morpher to contact the base and Pixel appears on screen and sees that he was in Ranger Form.
"Shin? What's going on?" Pixel asked.
"Pixel! Is Dean and the others with you?!" Shin said and Dean appeared on the screen.
"We're here Shin. What's happening?" Dean asked.
"No time to explain! You need to come to my location now! We have to stop…" Shin said before he noticed a large shadow looming over him and saw one of the Ragna-mail ready to swing its sword down at him. "Whoa!"
Just as the Ragna-mail swings its sword down, Shin rolls out of the way while being forced to end his contact with his friends.
He quickly stood up on his feet and pulled out his Nexus Blaster.
"Nexus Blaster!" Shin said before fires at the Ragna-mail, but it blocks his attack with its beam shield.
After seeing long range attacks is not an option, he quickly changes to his Blaster's Dagger Mode.
He then charges at the Ragna-mail before it swings its sword down at him, and Shin avoids it by jumping over the sword and runs on top of the Ragna-mail's arm.
Just as he reaches to its head, Shin slashes at the Ragna-mails but it manages to avoid his attack and swatted him back to the ground like he was a bug.
Shin rolls on the ground before he stops, but he soon sees another Ragna-mail's foot above him ready to stomp it on top of the Blue Ranger, Shin avoids it by rolling on the ground.
But as he stood up, another Ragna-mail lands a kick on him which sends the Blue Ranger flying before another Ragna-mail catches him with its hand.
As Shin struggles to break free, the Ragna-mail throws the Blue Ranger to the ceiling as he crashes into it then they fire their beam rifles at him landing powerful shots, despite his suit giving him protection he could still feel the damage.
After they stop their firing and Shin falls to the ground, but the Hysterica catches the Blue Ranger, it then throws Shin to the ground and begins beating on him by landing several punches on him as he cries out in pain.
After its final punch, the Hysterica stops and removes its fist. Shin was still alive but was barely conscious and his visor was completely shattered which showed traces of blood on his face.
He then heard footsteps approaching him before they stopped. The Blue Ranger raised his head as Embryo looked down at him with a smile on his face.
"Please…Don't do this…" Shin pleaded.
But Embryo just chuckles and leaves the Blue Ranger behind while the seven Ragna-mail follow their creator and master.
"Farewell, Shinya. I'll always remember the work we did together."
As Shin watches him leave, he reaches out to Embryo.
"No…Dr. Embryo…" Shin mutters before debris from the ceiling falls on top of him and all he could see was darkness.
(Back in the present)
Shin then opened his eyes and spoke to Salamandinay, Naga, and Kaname.
"And that's how it happened. That's how I'd help Embryo destroy our world." Shin confessed once again.
While Salamandinay, Naga and Kaname were still stunned by all of this, the other Rangers and Pixel were worried on how they'll react to this.
(Play: Believe in Nexus by Masaaki Endoh)
(Instrumental) (As the song starts, two Earths appear one at a time before they collide against each other creating a flash of light which blinded the screen.)
(Sono te nobashi te mabayui ashita o tsukamitore! Mugen no sora hamatake Believe in Nexus!) (Five of the Nexus Zords had appeared as the Racer, Wolf, and Dozer Zords were racing on a large road while the Chopper and Falcon Zords were flying above them before they turned into a flash of light and flew into the vast open sky before the story's title appeared on screen.)
(Araburu kono shoudo daremino tomiranai!) (The Nexus Rangers were standing on a hill as they looked at the town where the Children of Aura resides as some of them in DRAGON form flew above them as they watched them in awe.)
(Hiri asa mi kirikou o taka maru kono Heart Beat!) (Then it changes to a split screen with Salamandinay looking at her Enryugo as it was still incomplete, and Ange who was in her room in Arzenal as she was seated on her bed while looking at her ring, before it changes to Embryo and behind him was a man hidden in darkness holding a Morpher in his hand.)
(Bi chinai sou o natato sekawaerai!) (Then it changes showing an army of Xedroids and behind them were Prince Crimson, General Swartz, and Cyber.)
(Koko de oarasatakunai Go For It!) (Next the screen changes to the Rangers commencing their Morphin Sequence as they Morph into their suits before their helmets appeared.)
(Tachiagare kodoku ni obiekuru e naide!) (The screen changes showing a fleet of Xe-Fighters and an army of Xe-Bots charging forward to attack, then changes to the Nexus Rangers loading their Zord Cards into their Morphers as they soon appear, and the Rangers jump into them.)
(Nakama ma batte irukoto mou ichido omoidase!) (In his cockpit, the Nexus Red Ranger inserts his Battle Mode Card into his Morpher and his Racer Zord changes into the said mode.)
(Kowaku wa naisa akirame wa shinai donna tsugoi yatsu ni mo make wa shinai itsudatte o kino yuuki de Believe In Nexus!) (Then each of the Nexus Zord launch respective attacks on their enemies before the Kaiser Sphere in the sky. Then the Zords combine forming the Nexus Prime Megazord, and then energy appears around the Megazord before it flies at the Kaiser Sphere to attack and when it collides against the Sphere a large flash of light appears blinding the screen. Then it changes to both Earths before the Nexus Rangers along with the villain leaders appeared as they faced each other.)
After Salamandinay, Naga and Kaname were able to calm down, the Princess of the Freyja Clan was able to speak out first.
"This is…I don't even know how to respond to this." Salamandinay said.
"That's to be expected." Shin said.
"Yeah. I know this is tough to swallow, but you shouldn't blame Shin for it. I was the one who decided to keep that a secret, if anything…" Dean said before Salamandinay shook her head.
"No, it's alright. You were just trying to protect your friend, I can understand that. Besides, I kept the Ryuu-Shin-Ki a secret from you, so I suppose we're on equal ground now." Salamandinay told him and Dean sighed in relief.
"Yeah. Equal ground. That's good to hear." Dean said.
But Salamandinay then turns back to the Blue Ranger.
"But I must ask. What would possess you to even help a man like Embryo?" Salamandinay asked.
Shin sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well…It's a bit complicated. You may know him as a madman, but in the past, I knew him differently." Shin said before he walks to the computer to type on it and brings out several history archives of Embryo's past achievements.
One had a picture of Embryo, wearing glasses and a lab coat, was seated on a chair and was close to a microscope as he smiles for the camera.
'Doctor Embryo, award-winning physicist, has done the impossible once again.'
One had a picture of Embryo shaking hands with a world leader after building the world's first Dracunium Reactor.
'Dr. Embryo, solving the world's energy crisis.'
One had a picture of Embryo being awarded a Nobel prize.
'Dr. Embryo, the youngest to receive a Nobel Prize.'
There was even one of Embryo appearing on the cover of a science magazine.
'Doctor Embryo, the Einstein of our time.'
Despite the fact that it was showing them Embryo's past achievements, Salamandinay and her subordinates were amazed, they only find things like these in old records and data files from old ruins, they never found archives this intact before.
"Even after the D-War started, Embryo was considered to be the greatest scientist of our time. And he used to be a different man back then. During that time, I once idolized and wanted to be just like him. And by some twist of fate, I used to work under him." Shin said before he brings out a photo of himself and Embryo when he once served as his lab assistant.
It showed the two of them smiling with Shin seated on a chair and Embryo standing beside him with his hand on his shoulder as his smile was filled with pride.
Salamandinay and her subordinates were once again stunned by this before the DRAGON Princess put the pieces together.
"Then…You once served under him on that island, didn't you?" Salamandinay questions the Blue Ranger and Shin sighed before he nodded.
"I did. We discovered and created many things there. But then an accident had occurred which forced the government to decommission it and Embryo's body was never found, so he was presumed dead. But then during the D-War, he miraculously appeared before me and the others in this very room." Shin said before he and the others remember the day when Embryo had appeared in their base.
(Flashback)
In one of the many cities of Japan, the barrage of missiles from battleships, fighter jets and tanks can be seen as they collide against each other and on many buildings causing them to collapse due to the large explosions.
Many of the people who lived in those cities were forced to run with friends and family alike, some were carrying their crying and frightened children in their arms.
Then a building falls in front of them forcing them to stop. They were about to turn around and find another way to escape, a barrage of missiles exploding in front of a building beside them.
That very building then collapses and falls to them, just as they closed their eyes and braced themselves for their impending doom, something caught the falling building.
Everyone opens their eyes before the building is thrown away and they soon see that their savior was Dean, piloting the Nexus Racer Zord in Battle Mode.
"Look, Mommy, it's the Red Ranger." A little girl told her mother, and everyone cheered and thanked the Red Ranger before he spoke to them through his Zord.
"You guys alright?" Dean asked.
"We are thanks to you!" One of them said.
"Good." Dean said before the Racer Zord knelt down and brought its massive arm beside them. "You may want to cover your ears and hold your breath."
Heeding the Red Ranger's advice, they covered their ears and held their breath before something smashed through the fallen building that once blocked their path as it shattered into pieces.
When the smoke and dust died down, they soon saw it was the Dozer Zord with Aaron behind the Zord's wheel.
"The Black Ranger is here too!" Another said.
Then Aaron brought the Dozer Zord's shovel down to them.
"Got on the shovel! We'll take you to safety!" Aaron told them.
The people they saved soon boarded the Dozer Zord's shovel. Aaron then lifts it up while the Racer Zord changes into its Vehicle Form. Then both Zords raced down the ruined streets of the city while taking the people to safety and away from the warzone.
After driving for a while, Dean and Aaron had brought the people they had saved to an underground subway.
"Down here. There are some underground bomb shelters inside the tunnels. They'll be able to protect you until things calm down." Dean told them as they walked to the underground subway before a mother and her daughter.
"Thank you. I can't tell you how grateful we are to have you with us." The mother said.
"It's no problem. We're just doing our job." Dean told them.
The mother then turns back to the warzone and explosions continue to appear in the city.
"But still, I'm worried. Will this crazy war ever end?" She asked before Dean looked at the warzone as well and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry. It will end soon. We just need to hold out until then. So, try to stay strong and don't lose hope, okay." Dean told her and the mother left encouraged by his words as she smiled and nodded.
"I will. Thank you." The mother said before she and her daughter headed into the subway to follow the others.
After they were gone, Aaron soon spoke to Dean.
"Do you really believe that Dean?" Aaron asked and the Red Ranger sighed.
"Honestly, I'm not even sure anymore. But I'm not going to give up without trying." Dean answered.
"I hope you're right. Anyway, we should probably head back to the base now." Aaron told him and Dean nodded in agreement.
"Right." Dean said before he and Aaron used their Morphers to teleport to their base.
Inside the base's command room, the Nexus Rangers' allies Max and Pixel were standing in front of the computer watching several news reports of the casualty count of soldiers and civilians alike with Pixel keeping track of them all using her personal computer.
"China's casualties had exceeded 100,000. Europe 250,000. India 400,000. Germany 350,000. Russia 500,000." Pixel said.
"With the total count over 1.6 million in less than a year." Max said before he sighed and rubbed his fingers on his eyes. "And here I thought people were exaggerating calling this crazy war Ragnarok."
That's when they saw Dean and Aaron had appeared in the room and walked to them.
"Dean, Aaron, you're back." Max said before the Rangers took off their helmets.
"Hey, grandpa." Dean said before he and Max hugged each other.
"How did things go in Japan?" Max asked and Dean sighed.
"Well…we were able to bring several groups of people to safety. But they're really beginning to lose hope." Dean said.
"I see." Max said in understanding.
They soon saw Shin and Claire had returned from their task in saving people in America.
"Shin, Claire. You made it." Aaron said but they soon notice the soot and ash on their bodies.
"So I guess things in America have gone well?" Dean questions them.
"More or less…" Claire said before she took off her helmet which caused the ash on it to appear, and Claire coughed as she fans it away and dust off the rest on her suit. "I don't know how the Lightspeed Rangers do it, but rescuing people from a burning building isn't as easy as it appears."
"Well…At least we got them out in time. That's what matters." Shin said before he took his helmet off and rolled his shoulder.
Dean and Shin then greeted each other by catching and shaking their hands. While Aaron and Claire hugged each other.
That's when Alisa and Kurt had returned from Africa before they approached their friends and took off their helmets.
"I told you we'll be the last ones to appear." Alisa told the White Ranger.
"Yeah. Yeah. You were right as always." Kurt said in some annoyance.
"Look at that. The gang's back together." Aaron commented before they headed to the computer and saw the news reports from around the world.
"But not for the better apparently." Shin said.
Dean then spoke to Pixel.
"Be straight with us, Pix. How bad is the damage?" Dean asked. Pixel sighed and answered his question.
"Not well. Despite your best efforts, the casualty count just keeps rising." Pixel told them.
"And as this war goes on, countless more die each day." Max said.
"So this pointless war will just continue to go on. Damn it." Dean said before he lowered his head and Claire placed a hand on his shoulder.
Kurt tightly clenched his hand and spoke out.
"Then maybe we should do something about it." Everyone in the room turns to the White Ranger.
"What?" Alisa said.
"Just what are you saying?" Aaron asked.
"You know what I mean. If this crazy war will never stop, then we should force both sides to stop. We have the power and the arsenal to do just that. So let's show our might and make them listen to us." Kurt said but the others can't agree with him before Dean spoke out first.
"Kurt, are you even listening to yourself? You know we can't do that. Our mission first and foremost is to protect the Earth, including the people."
"Then let's protect them by making them see things our way. What could possibly be wrong about that?" Kurt questions him.
"Because that would make us the very monsters that we fight against. We may have great power, but that doesn't make us gods." Dean told him.
"Dean's right. Your duty as Rangers is to serve and protect the people. Not guide them." Max told the White Ranger, but he only spoke out in protest.
"And how could you possibly know that old man?! You're not even a Ranger!" Kurt was about to step up to him, but Alisa stops him by raising her arm in front of him.
"Kurt, calm down! Listen, we're all tense enough as is. But arguing amongst ourselves won't solve anything. Besides, Dean's right. We can't sink to that level. We need to be better than that and deep down you know it." Alisa told him.
Kurt only clicks his tongue before he leaves the room while his friends watch him leave in worry. Alisa was about to follow him, but Max stopped her by grabbing onto her shoulder.
"Just give him some time, Alisa. He just needs to cool off." Max said.
"But still, he does have a point." Shin said. "If only there was a way for us to help stop this war without getting involved somehow."
"Then it's a good thing I'm here." A new voice spoke out behind them.
Everyone turned around and saw a man hiding in the shadows. Everyone was on guard against him since it was impossible to find their base.
"Who are you?!" Dean said.
"Show yourself!" Alisa said.
Then the stranger raised his hands and explained himself.
"Relax. There's no reason to be on edge. I'm a friend." Shin blinks as his voice sounds familiar.
"Wait…that voice…" The Blue Ranger mutters to himself.
Then the stranger then steps out of the shadows, revealing himself to be Embryo. The Rangers, Max and Pixel were shocked to see him as they recognized him but their shock pales in comparison to Shin's.
"Wait. Aren't you…?" Dean said but Shin interrupted him.
"Dr. Embryo…" Shin mutters before he approaches his former and thought to be deceased mentor. "I-Is it really you?"
"Yes, Shinya. It's me." Embryo told his former pupil, but Shin still had trouble believing what he was seeing.
"H-How is this possible?" Shin mutters as he approaches his former mentor. "Y-You died…I saw it happen. You disappeared in that flash of light…How?"
When Shin attempted to touch him, his hand passed through Embryo's body which was a holographic projection. Shin looks at his hand in shock before he looks at Embryo.
"Doctor…What's going on?" Shin asked.
"Yes. I suppose I have a lot of explaining to do. To all of you." Embryo told him and the others.
Embryo took a seat on the chair before he explained things to the Rangers and their allies on why he was here, even though he went missing and was presumed dead for two years.
"Your body is trapped between dimensions?" Shin said.
"Yes. The body you are currently seeing is a shadow. In fact, besides the Hysterica, this is one of the few things that I'm able to send in this world." Embryo told them.
"So you're still trapped there?" Pixel asked and Embryo nodded.
"Dr. Embryo, I'm so sorry. It should've been me." Shin said before Embryo placed a hand on his shoulder and gave the Blue Ranger an assured smile.
"It's alright, Shinya. I never blame you for it. Like I told you before, you were a young man with a bright future ahead of you. So you shouldn't worry too much about it." Embryo told him and Shin smiles to hear that.
"Thank you." Shin said.
Embryo then hummed as he looked at the suit he was wearing.
"But still, look at you. It's hard to believe that you were once my assistant. But now you're a full-time superhero." Embryo said.
Shin chuckles while rubbing the back of his head.
"Yeah. It's crazy how life is sometimes." Embryo chuckles.
"Very true."
"But still, maybe we can help you." Shin suggested and Embryo blinks to hear that. "Your body may still be trapped in this gap, but we have knowledge and tech here that is beyond your imagination. And we also know brilliant scientists from other worlds who are more than willing to help too."
"All in good time, Shinya. But right now, we should focus on this other task." Embryo said before he looks at the multiple news reports from around the world. "It appears things had only worsened after the accident."
"Yes. Tensions between the Federation and the Alliance were always high, but I never thought things would go this bad." Shin said.
"Right now, both sides are in a stalemate, but who knows when that will last or that it will ever end." Dean said.
"And it's a good thing that I'm here." Embryo said, gaining their attention as he stood up.
"How so?" Max questions the scientist before he smiles at him but strangely the women of their group were a bit creeped out to see that smile.
"I have a plan in motion. You see, before I arrived, I managed to hold a meeting with the leaders of the U.E.F and they're more than willing to cooperate with me. But I also acquired Shinya's help." Embryo said before he turned to his former pupil.
"My help?" Shin said.
"Yes. The plan requires me to build six Ragna-mail. But despite my brilliant talents, such a task is beyond even me. Which is why I search for you. I need you to help me, Shinya." Embryo said.
"But that would mean turning the Ragna-mail into weapons of war. We built those machines to guide humanity to a brighter future." Shin reminded him.
"And they can still do just that." Embryo said. "Shinya, I know I'm asking a lot from you, and I can understand your reluctance about this. But right now, we're running out of time. Please…I need you to trust me."
Embryo reached out his hand to him. Shin looks at it before he turns to his friends and they give him supporting looks, showing no matter what decision he would make, they'll both support and trust him.
After making his decision, Shin shook Embryo's hand.
"Of course. You didn't even have to ask." Shin told him and Embryo smiled in gratitude.
"Thank you, Shinya. I know I can always count on you." Embryo said.
(End of flash)
"But after we finished building the Ragna-mail, Embryo had betrayed me, betrayed all of us. And because of what I did, our entire world was destroyed." Shin said before slamming his fist on the computer and Claire placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Shin, you know that's not true." Claire said.
"And you all agree to it?" Salamandinay asked and Dean sighed before he answered.
"Yes. It was a unanimous decision and we all agreed to it." Dean rubs the back of his neck. "We didn't know Embryo the way Shin did back then. But we did know he was once a great man, who only wanted to help the world. So, we all thought we could trust him. But boy was I ever wrong."
(Flashback)
While Shin was in Embryo's former lab, the other Rangers, Max and Pixel were in the command room as they waited for Shin to call them. But Kurt wasn't among them.
Claire was pacing back and forth as she was beginning to feel nervous right now.
"Claire, honey, you've been pacing around for a while now. You may need to stop." Max told his granddaughter.
"I'm sorry, Grandpa. But I just can't help him. We haven't gotten word from Shin for a while now. All he told us is that the Ragna-mail is near completion." Claire said.
"I can understand how you're feeling. But we just need to calm down and put our trust in them." Dean told her.
"Oh really? So you trust a man wearing that kind of hair and has a creepy smile. And let's not forget his name. I mean who even names their kids 'Embryo'?" Claire said.
"Well…I'm not sure how his name matters now. But we can at least trust, Shin. He always has our backs when we need him."
"I guess that's true." Claire said before she noticed that Kurt was nowhere to be seen. "You know, I just noticed something. Where's Kurt?"
"Funny story about that." Alisa said, getting their attention. "I checked his room this morning, but it was empty. I tried calling him too, but he answered back yet."
"Well, maybe he decided to go out and cool off for a bit?" Aaron said.
"Yeah. That might be it. We should just give him some space, I'm sure he'll be back soon." Dean said.
"Yeah…Yeah, you're right." Alisa said.
That's when they receive a contact from Shin's Morpher.
"And speak of the devil. Shin's calling right now." Pixel said before she types on her personal computer.
"I guess that means he finished things on his end." Dean said.
"Hell yes! Meaning the war will finally be over." Aaron cheered as he pumped his fist.
Pixel soon made contact with Shin but saw that he was in Ranger form, and they could hear the sounds of battle behind the Blue Ranger.
"Shin? What's going on?" Pixel asked.
"Pixel! Is Dean and the others with you?!" Shin said and Dean moved in front of the screen.
"We're here Shin. What's happening?" Dean asked.
"No time to explain! You need to come to my location now! We have to stop…"
But then the transmission was suddenly cut off and the others were left confused and worried about what just happened.
"What just happened?" Claire asked.
"I don't know. But we need to move." Dean said before he and the others head to the transporter to teleport to Shin's location.
The Rangers soon arrived on the island that was once Embryo's laboratory. They took a moment to study their surroundings before a familiar voice spoke to them.
"Well look who has arrived?"
Everyone looked and saw Embryo standing close to him and saw the seven Ragna-mail behind him.
"Embryo?" Dean said before he looked at the Ragna-mail. "Are those the Ragna-mail?"
"Indeed, they are. Aren't they simply beautiful? I truly outdid myself with these machines, though I suppose I should thank Shinya as well." Embryo said.
"Just what are you doing? And what happened to Shin?" Dean questions him as he and the others were to fight him, just in case.
Embryo chuckles at them.
"I'm afraid what I'm 'doing' is something that your feeble minds will never be able to comprehend. But as for Shinya, you will find him back in the hangar. Assuming he's still alive." Embryo told them and the Rangers were shocked by this before Dean glared at him.
"What do you mean by that?!" Dean said.
Embryo then brought out his personal pocket watch to check the time.
"I'm afraid this is where we part ways. I'm a little behind schedule. Goodbye, Rangers." Embryo said before he snapped his fingers and he soon disappeared along with the seven Ragna-mail.
"Wait!" Dean calls out before he grits his teeth. "Damn it. We'll have to worry about Embryo later. We need to find Shin."
The others nodded in agreement before they ran to the hangar. The Rangers soon arrived and saw the damages in the room, they soon began to search for the Blue Ranger while calling out to him.
"Shin!"
"Shin!"
"Shin!"
"Shin!"
That's when Claire someone groaned beneath some rubble and saw that someone was beneath that pile.
"Over there!" Claire pointed out and they quickly rushed to the pile.
"Give me some room!" Dean said before he uses his superhuman strength to pick up and throw the large rubble away, he then pulled the injured Shin from beneath. "Shin!"
Shin was unconscious and continued to groan as his friends looked at him in worry.
"This looks bad." Claire said.
"Just what did Embryo do?" Alisa asked.
"Doesn't matter right now. We need to get him back to the base." Dean said and the others nodded.
Dean and Aaron carried the injured and unconscious Shin with his arms on their shoulders as they left the hangar and returned to the base.
After his friends had brought him back to the base, Shin was resting on a bed in the medical room where Pixel had treated his wounds.
Shin then begins to wake up as his eyes begin to flinch and blink a few times.
"Hey! I think he's waking up." Said Claire.
Shin opened his eyes and saw his friends were looking at him in worry.
"Guys?" Shin mutters as he tries to sit up but stumbles a bit and Dean catches.
"Easy there. You've been unconscious for a while." Dean told him.
"I was what?" Shin said before he finally remembers how Embryo had attacked him with the Ragna-mail, he tightly grabs Dean's arms. "Wait! What about Dr. Embryo?! Did you stop him!"
"Shin! Take it easy! You need to calm down." Dean told him.
"Just…Tell me what happened?" Shin asked before he let go of his arms.
"We're not sure. We were hoping you would tell us. We did encounter Embryo, but he didn't tell us much. Just what did he do?" Dean asked.
"I'll tell you on the way. Right now, we need to find him." Shin said as he stood up and left the medical room with his friends following him.
On their way to the command room, Shin told his friends that Embryo had attacked because he found something hidden within each of the Ragna-mail.
"Discord Phasers?" Dean said.
"It's a type of dimensional wave weapon. It was originally designed for interdimensional travel between parallel universes, but now it's able to fire a convergence of space-time energy that's able to delete everything in its path." Shin said before they entered the command room.
"And you installed a weapon like that into seven god-like machines?" Pixel asked, and Shin shook his head.
"No, of course not. I didn't know they had those until now. In fact the Hysterica should be the only unit to have them." Shin said before he types on the computer to use their satellite uplink to find the Ragna-mail. "But thanks to that, they should give off a unique energy source that we can track with our satellites. I just hope we can find them in time."
"Okay. So Embryo has them now. But what's his next move going to be?" Dean asked.
"I don't know." Shin said.
"Don't give us that!" Dean shouted. "You worked with Embryo for years! You know how he thinks! So use that brilliant mind of yours to figure out what he's planning!"
"Okay! Okay! Just stop shouting at me and let me think." Shin said and after things calmed down, Shin took a moment to put the pieces together. "Okay…When we were building the Ragna-mail we both agreed that the Hysterica should be equipped with the Discord Phasers. We agreed to it not only because of the casualty count. But the kind of effect they would have if they ever collided against the…"
Shin then becomes horrified after figuring out Embryo's plan and he couldn't believe it.
"No…No, he wouldn't…" He mutters to himself.
"Shin? What's wrong?" Aaron asked.
"There's no way. He would never…" Shin mutters before Dean snaps him out of it as he grabs onto his shoulder.
"Shin. If you figure it out, then tell us, before it's too late." Dean told him.
Shin was hesitant for a moment but told his friends what Embryo is planning.
"He's planning on firing the Ragna-mails' Discord Phasers to every Dracunium Reactor around the world. Once their space-time energy collides against the supersymmetric particles, it will cause a worldwide explosion that will contaminate the Earth's ecosystem. And all life on the planet will die."
The others were shocked and horrified to hear that.
"No way…" Aaron said.
"But…Why would he do that?" Alisa asked and Shin shook his head.
"I don't know! I don't even want to believe it!" Shin exclaimed as he slammed both hands on the computer. "There's no way that the Dr. Embryo that I know…There's no way that the man that I respect and admire would even consider doing such madness!"
"Oh, Shin…" Claire said.
"I hate to say it, Shin. But it seems like the Embryo that you knew died a long time ago." Dean said.
Shin grits his teeth and tightly clenches his hands as he knows that he's right.
That's when their satellite uplink had found the Ragna-mails' energy signature.
"We found them." Pixel said.
"Alright. Then we need to head out now and stop Embryo from unleashing the Ragna-mail." Dean told his team, and they nodded in agreement. Dean then spoke to Pixel. "Pixel, I need you to contact Kurt and tell him the situation."
"You got it." Pixel nodded before she used her computer to contact Kurt.
The Rangers then lineup to use their Morphers.
"It's Morphin' Time!" Dean said.
"Access the Morphin Grid!" They all said together and transformed into their Ranger Forms.
The Rangers then move to the transporter to teleport to Embryo's location to stop him.
"Good luck Rangers. May the power protect you." Max told them.
(End of flashback)
"After that, we tried to stop what Embryo was planning. But…Well you already know the rest." Shin told them.
Salamandinay and her crew were once again stunned by this.
"This is…I can't even imagine." Salamandinay said.
"Yeah. And imagine how I feel. I literally gave Embryo the keys into destroying the world because I thought I could trust him." Shin said.
"Shin, you know that's not true." Dean told him.
"Then maybe we should have him executed." Naga suggested and the others were surprised to hear that.
"I'm sorry. What?" Claire asked.
"Executed?" Aaron said.
"Now hold on, that's going a bit too far." Alisa said.
"She's right, Naga. Shin is also a victim of Embryo's machinations. We can't blame for something that was beyond his control." Salamandinay told her.
"Forgive, my lady. But I cannot allow it." Naga said before she narrows her eyes at the Blue Ranger. "If he truly admired Embryo back then, there's no telling if he's still loyal to him. Not to mention, he still needs to answer for his crime for the great cataclysm."
"That's not fair. Shin only created the Ragna-mail. It's not like he knew this would happen." Dean defended his friend.
"Maybe so. I'm not going to allow a repeat of what happened 500 years ago to happen again." Naga said.
"Hey. That was a lifetime ago, and you weren't even born back then." Pixel told her.
"That's right. And Shin won't repeat that same mistake again." Alisa said.
"Even so, he still needs to answer for what our ancestors had gone through during those times." Naga said.
As they speak, Shin was deep in thought as he remembered that dream he had and watching that video of Embryo using the seven Ragna-mail to destroy the world and how he used them to destroy another world only to remake it in his image, and how many people had suffered because of it.
Shin then made his decision and spoke out.
"No, she's right." Everyone then turns to the Blue Ranger.
"What?" Dean said.
"It's true that Embryo did the crime himself. It still doesn't change the fact that I helped create the Ragna-mail and everything he did with them until now was still my burden to carry." Shin said before he took off his Morpher and tossed it to Dean as he caught it.
"But, Shin…" Dean said.
But Shin walks in front of Salamandinay.
"Princess Salamandinay, I want you to put me under trial." Shin said which surprised his friends.
"Trial?" Salamandinay said and Shin nodded.
"That's right. In the old world we put criminals under trial for their crimes, no matter how big or small they are. I highly request that you do the same with your current leadership." Shin said.
"Is that truly what you want?" Salamandinay asked and Shin nodded. She saw the determination in his eyes before she nodded. "Very well then. If that's truly what you want."
The other Rangers and Pixel were shocked by this.
Shin stood apart from his friends while Naga and Kaname tied a rope around his wrists while Salamandinay stood with the other Rangers, Shin then turned to his friends.
"I'm sorry guys. But it looks like you'll need a new Blue Ranger." Shin told them.
"Shin…" Claire said.
Dean then spoke to Salamandinay.
"Salamandinay, this isn't right and you know it." Salamandinay sighed.
"Believe me, I know that. But I highly doubt I can convince him otherwise. Besides that, I can't hide a fact like this from the High Priestess and the shrine maidens. No doubt they would also suggest putting him under trial." Salamandinay said.
"But even so…" Dean said before Salamandinay placed a hand on his shoulder.
"But I promise you, I'll do everything I can to help him." Salamandinay promised him.
Salamandinay's crew and Shin soon stood on top of the transporter before they used it to teleport to the city.
After they left, the Rangers and Pixel were worried for Shin. Dean then looks at Shin's Morpher.
"Shin…"
(Next day)
In the Kaiser Empire, Prince Crimson had called upon one of their Commanders and he soon arrived.
The Commander's body was colored dark blue and red with red and blue wires with a clock on his waist, he also had twisted red and blue wires pointed upward on his shoulders and a round red and blue part on his chest as the wires were connected to it. He also wore a silver mask with a blue and red eye with a large round blue hat with red stripes around and held a stick that was colored black and purple with a silver part on the top with a timer on it.
"Tada! I have arrived!" The Commander greeted the higher ups of the Kaiser Sphere.
"Commander Jester. Welcome." Prince Crimson greeted him and Jester bowed before him.
"A pleasure to be here, Your Highness. I'm truly pleased you finally called upon my talents to help." Jester said.
"Then I presume you know why I called upon you?" Prince Crimson questions him and Jester placed his stick on the ground and raised his hand.
"Please, say no more. You want to handle the Rangers, correct?" Jester asked and Prince Crimson nodded. "Then you're truly lucky to have me. After those pests had arrived, I've been preparing the perfect stage for them. A stage of their destruction!"
"Then I look forward to the show. Now go." Prince Crimson told him.
"Righty-oh!" Jester said as he left to destroy the Rangers.
Prince Crimson chuckles as he looks forward to seeing what sort of trouble the Rangers will face in their battle against Jester.
'Let's see how you handle against Commander Jester, Rangers.'
In the base, Dean, Aaron, Alisa and Claire were training in the simulation room. The room was in the form of a mix between a gym and martial arts dojo.
Dean was seen on the bench press lifting weights. Claire is seen spinning around using two gymnastics rings. Alisa is practicing her martial arts against a wooden training dummy. Aaron is seen running on a treadmill.
Pixel was watching as she oversaw their records.
As Aaron continues to run, he remembers how Shin confesses on how he created the Ragna-mail and how he turned himself in because of it.
Aaron closes his eyes before he turns off his treadmill and takes a moment to catch his breath.
Pixel then moved to the Black Ranger. The others notice that as they stop as well and look at him.
"Aaron, are you alright? It's not like you to stop midway." Pixel said.
"I know. It's just…I'm worried about Shin." Aaron said. "I mean it doesn't seem fair for him to be punished for something that Embryo did. It wasn't his fault that his former boss became a homicidal maniac."
Dean sighed before he picked up his towel to wipe off some sweat.
"Believe me, we all know that. But in Shin's mind, he'll always think that day will always be his fault." Dean said.
Claire jumps down and picks up her bottle of water to drink from it.
"Even so, I still can't agree with it." Claire told them before Alisa placed a hand on her shoulder.
"We just need to hope that Salamandinay can pull through for us. Hopefully after that, Shin will finally move on and be himself again." Dean said and Claire chuckles and smiles at her cousin.
"You really have so much faith in your girlfriend don't you?" Claire asked and Dean blushed.
"She's not my girlfriend!" Dean exclaimed at them, and the others chuckled to hear that.
Sayla was walking in the hallway while carrying a basket of clean laundry of both herself and her daughter's clothes.
She had some trouble at first, but she managed to adapt and was able to fully make use of the washer and dryer while folding the laundry with her own hands.
"Things were a lot simpler with the Light of Mana. I guess I really did take it for granted." Sayla said.
She then thought back on how her daughter was taken from her and how Dean helped both of them by bringing them into this world. Sayla wonders if she was taking her peace here for granted just like she did before, and how the Norma were forced to maintain Embryo's so-called utopia.
She made her way to the training room and heard the Rangers' voices.
"But still…It really goes to show you that Embryo's wounds run deep." Said Alisa and Sayla blinks to hear that as she stops.
"Yeah. I sort of noticed it before I brought Sayla here." Dean nodded.
"Well what do you expect?" Pixel asked. "I mean he kidnapped their great mother all to use her to power his world. Not long after that, he started a secret war while using the Norma to hunt them down to use them as fuel."
"And all because the humans he created selfishly use that Mana stuff." Alisa said. "Honestly, just the thought of it makes me sick. I mean they take their peace for granted while others suffer because of it. I know they don't know about Embryo or Aura, but still, they can't look past someone's differences and unjustly persecute them for something that was behind anyone's control."
Dean then notices someone standing by the door and calls out to Alisa.
"Alisa!"
Alisa blinks before she hears someone dropping a laundry basket. Everyone looked and saw it was Sayla with widened eyes and they figured that she listened in to their entire conversation.
The Yellow Ranger then felt guilty about what she just said.
"Wait, Sayla! I didn't…" Alisa said but the damage was already done before she ran away.
"Real smooth there." Claire said and Alisa sighs and rubs the back of her neck.
"Okay. I may have gone too far. I'll apologize to her later." Alisa said before they all heard the alarms going off.
"The alarm?" Aaron said before the Rangers turned to Pixel and the AI brought out her personal computer to check the situation.
"Don't tell me…" Dean said as he had a good idea what that alarm was about.
But Pixel nodded and brought out a screen for them showing the Kaiser Empire attacking a village.
"Yep. It's the Kaiser Empire. They're attacking a village in the northwest." Pixel said.
"Guess we'll have to hit the showers later." Dean said.
"Man…and we're sweaty too." Claire said in annoyance before they moved out to face the Kaiser Empire.
Jester along with his squad of Xedroids had managed to capture most of the villagers as they were seated on the ground while some of the Xedroids watched over them, and Jester waited for the Power Rangers to appear.
"Hmmhmmhmm. Oh, I can't wait to see the Rangers. I hope that the prince will enjoy my show." Jester said in excitement.
Just in time the Rangers soon transported in front of Jester.
"Hold it right there!" Dean said and the Commander cheered to see them.
"The Power Rangers, I was expecting…Hmmm?" Jester stops as he notices that the Blue Ranger was missing. "Wait. One, two, three…four? Weren't there supposed to be five of you?"
"He's having some complications right now." Claire said.
"So, you'll have to settle with the four of us." Aaron said.
"Hmmm…" Jester hummed before he shrugged. "Oh well, I can handle him after I destroy the rest of you."
"Before that, let the people go." Dean told him.
"Why of course. They were only extras anyway." Jester said as he signals the Xedroids to let the hostages go.
"Go now!" Dean told them.
They stood up and were about to run away, but then a tree exploded in front of them which forced them to stop and thankfully no one was hurt but the Rangers were shocked to see that.
"The hell?" Alisa said.
"What just happened?" Aaron said.
"Oh dear! I must've forgotten about the bombs!" Jester said playfully with a hand on his mouth.
"Bombs?" Claire said and Jester swung his arms.
"Yes! You see, I am Jester! The greatest magician across the known universe! I have the ability to turn any object into a time bomb! And I've spent weeks turning this entire town into a living landmine just for you!" Jester said.
"You're really sick in the head." Dean said. Jester shrugged.
"What can I say? I simply love making things go boom!" Jester said.
"What should we do, Dean?" Aaron asked.
"Alright! Sh…Claire, you handle the bombs with Pixel while leading the hostages to safety." Dean told the Pink Ranger. She noticed that Dean almost said Shin's name but nodded.
"You got it."
"Alright. It's Morphin' Time!" Dean said before he and the others pressed the button on their Morphers. They soon brought out their Cards.
"Load Card!" The Rangers said before they load their Cards into their Morphers. "Access the Morphin Grid!"
(Morphing Sequence)
The four Nexus Rangers were standing on their respective metal platforms.
The screen on their Morphers turned on showing their Ranger forms and weapons.
They then thrust their hands forward which fired a beam in their respective colors and it soon formed into a holographic screen showing their respective Ranger forms and weapons with the words 'Commencing Morphing Sequence' on the bottom.
The platforms soon opened, and the Nexus Rangers jumped down into the tunnel of Morphin Grid energy.
As the Nexus Rangers fell in the tunnel, digital lines appeared around their bodies which formed their Ranger Suits before they landed on the ground.
Finally, they stood up, digital lines appeared around their heads forming their helmets.
(End of sequence)
"Nexus Rangers…"
"We stand united!" They said as they strike their poses.
Jester applauded their transformation.
"Bravo! Truly good show! But I won't allow you to outstage me…attack!" Jester ordered and the Xedroids charged at the Nexus Rangers, and they did the same while Claire moved to the hostages to guide them to safety.
"Come on! This way." Claire said.
Dean punches one Xedroid on the chest while attacking another one with a kick.
Aaron grabs onto one Xedroid and throws it to the ground.
Alisa then sweep kicks one Xedroid on the legs to send it to the ground.
After they defeated the Xedroids, the Rangers soon faced Jester.
"Looks like you're alone now." Dean said.
"Famous stars like myself usually are." Jester said before he charged at the Rangers to fight them.
Aaron avoids a few attacks from Jester's stick, he soon counters by punching him but the Commander avoids his attacks with skillful and graceful movements.
"Sidestep! Duck!" Jester said. "Please! Is that the best you can do?"
Aaron charges at Jester to attack him, but he soon brings out a mantle and brings it in front of the charging Black Ranger.
"I hope you like magic. Because I'm about to make a wall appear!" Jester said as he spun around with his mantle and brought out a stone wall in front of Aaron as he crashed into it.
Aaron grunted as he stepped away from the wall.
"The hell? Where did that come from?" Aaron said.
"Did you even have to ask?" Jester asked and Aaron turned to him and saw he was carrying some rocks in his hand. "I told you I'm a magician."
Jester before he throws the rocks at Aaron and the Black Ranger realizes that those rocks must be bombs.
"I don't think so! Nexus Blaster!" Aaron pulls out his Blaster and fires at the incoming rocks to destroy them.
Jester chuckles before Aaron felt something hitting his leg and saw a ball on the ground.
"A ball?" Aaron said before the ball exploded and sent him to the ground. Aaron groans. "Okay…that hurt…"
"Huh! A simple misdirection! A classic move but it still gets the job done." Jester said.
"Then let's see if you can use the same trick on me!" Alisa says as she jumps at Jester to attack him with her Nexus Dagger.
Jester avoids her attacks while blocking some with his stick.
"And now for my next trick! I'll make myself disappear!" Jester said as he makes parts of his body invisible before Alisa misses a slash and looks for Jester.
"Where did he go?" Alisa said and soon got her answer,
"I'm over here!" The invisible Jester said as he struck Alisa from the back.
Alisa quickly spun around to counterattack but ended up missing again. Jester attacks her again while invisible, Alisa attacks but ends up missing. They repeated the process several times, but Jester throws a ball at the Yellow Ranger as she catches it.
"Oh boy…" Alisa said before the ball exploded in front of her and she fell to the ground. "I never thought I'd be on the receiving end of my favorite trick."
Jester laughs as he makes himself visible again.
"Hahahaha! I just love a good show! Whoa!" Jester said before he saw and avoided an incoming punch from Dean. "Hey now! There's no need to be impatient. There's still plenty of spotlight for the both of us."
"Do I look like someone who cares about that?" Dean said before he punches and kicks at Jester and the Commander avoids his attacks.
After she guided the hostages to safety, Claire was searching for the bombs that Jester had created and spread out.
"Okay. If I was a bomb in disguise, where would I be?" Claire said before she heard a ticking sound and saw a timer on a building which was acting as the bomb. "There's one."
Claire moves in front of the timer and soon contacts Pixel with her Morpher.
"Okay, Pix, I found one of the bombs. What should I do?" Claire asked.
Dean continues to punch and kick at Jester, but he avoids his attacks before he starts to become bored as he yawns in front of his mouth.
"Yawn. And here I thought that the Red Ranger is supposed to be the core of the group. But you're just boring. Maybe this will make things interesting…for my next trick, I'll bring out my lovely assistant!" Jester said before he created a clone of himself and they soon spoke at the same time. "Me!"
"Like that would make a difference!" Dean said before he charges in to attack and the two Jesters did the same.
The two Jesters spun around, Dean punched one of them but his fist ended up passing through the clone and that clone attacked him with his stick which forced the Red Ranger to stumble back.
"Okay. So I can't touch him, but he can still touch me." Dean said.
"That's right! I told you I'm the greatest magician!" The two Jesters said.
"I wonder if this is how the Dino Fury Rangers felt while fighting Slyther." Dean said.
Claire manages to remove the cover around the timer and begin pulling the wires with Pixel's instructions.
"Now remove the yellow stripe one and the blue wire next. That should disable the bomb." Pixel said.
"Okay. Here goes nothing." Claire said before she removed the last two wires and it disabled the timer. "Woah…You think after doing this once it would make the second time easier. Now then…"
But then the timer restarted and now counts down to five seconds.
"What the?!" Claire said and Pixel notices that as well.
"Oh, no! It's a failsafe! Get out of there!" Pixel told the Pink Ranger but it was too late as the building exploded in front of her.
Dean and Jester stop fighting as they hear the explosion and Claire rolling on the ground.
"Oh no, Claire!" Dean said in worry.
Jester laughs before his clone disappears.
"Hahahaha! Looks like the curtains had closed for act one!" Jester said before he and Dean faced each other. "I'm going out to prepare for act two. You better prepare yourselves until then. Tata."
Jester leaves by teleporting. Dean quickly rushes to Claire as she is groaning and knelt down to the Pink Ranger.
"Claire, are you alright?" Dean asked.
"I've…been better." Claire said before Dean helps her sit up.
That's when Aaron and Alisa walk to them.
"If this was the first act, I'm worried what his second's going to be." Aaron said.
"You and me both." Alisa said.
Jester had returned to the Kaiser Sphere where the command staff were waiting for him and he gave his report to them.
"So you had the Rangers on the end of their rope, but you just let them get away?! What were you thinking?!" General Swartz exclaimed.
"Please, General, relax. That was only act one. I like to save the finale for act two. But don't worry, by the time I'm done, the Rangers will be history." Jester said.
"Honestly, and here I thought that Gold-Star was an annoyance." General Swartz said.
"It's fine, General." Prince Crimson said, getting their attention. "The results were still fruitful nonetheless. If he can truly destroy the Rangers like he said, then it doesn't matter how he does it."
"Very well, Your Highness." General Swartz said.
"Thank you. You're truly a gracious audience, my liege." Jester said before Prince Crimson gave him a warning glare which frightened Jester.
"You shouldn't make assumptions like that. Because if you happen to fail me, then the consequences will be severe. Am I clear?" Prince Crimson questions him and the Commander bowed his head.
"Yes! Of course! It will be done!" Jester said before he left.
"Honestly. For once I hope the Rangers destroy him." General Swartz said and the prince heard what he said.
"What was that?" Swartz flinched and bowed his head.
"Please forgive me, Your Highness. I misspoke."
Prince Crimson scoffed as he leaned his hand on his head before he called out to Cyber.
"Cyber. How is your progress coming along?" He questions the scientist.
"Slow and steady, Your Highness. You have to understand, making contact with another universe isn't as simple as it appears." Cyber said.
"Which is why I'm trusting you to handle that matter. Is that clear?" Prince Crimson questions him and Cyber bowed his head.
"Of course. It will be done soon, sir." Cyber said.
"For your sake, it better be." Prince Crimson told him. "Now then Rangers, how will you handle Jester's tricks?"
After the Rangers were able to find and disable the bombs in the village, they returned to their base and brought Claire to the medical room where Pixel was treating her wounds.
"Honestly, Pix. I'm fine, really." Claire told the AI.
"I'm just wanting to make sure. I can't believe I didn't account for any failsafes. I'm a failure of an AI." Pixel said.
"Hey, you shouldn't sell yourself short like that. Mistakes happen, all we can do is to learn from them." Dean told her.
"Just like how Shin learned from his mistake?" Pixel said and the others flinched before they lowered their heads, and Pixel realized her mistake. "Sorry…I didn't mean to…"
"It's fine." Dean said.
Aaron sighed and rubbed the back of his head.
"Let's face it. We're just not a team without him." Aaron said.
"I know that. But he's still under trial. If we break him out, it will make things worse for him." Dean said.
"I know that but still…" Aaron said as he clenched his hand in frustration and the others also felt frustrated.
Pixel looks at them in worry.
'After all of this, I really hope Shin's having better luck than us.' Pixel thought to herself.
(Meanwhile)
Inside the temple's main hall, after Shin was brought here, Salamandinay had reported on how he created the Ragna-mail 500 years ago and things were tense right now.
"We must execute him now! The knowledge he possesses is dangerous!"
"I concur! There's no telling that he'll create another Ragna-mail to kill us all."
Salamandinay weren't surprised that most of them would suggest that. Embryo's wounds still runned deep even after 500 years, and it got worse after he stole Aura from them.
But despite that, Salamandinay wasn't going to stand by and let Shin die.
"Please, shrine maidens, calm yourselves. There's no reason for this." Salamandinay said, getting their attention.
"How can you possibly say that, Salamandinay? You're the one who captured him."
"I only did that to honor his request. But we can't just condemn him for Embryo's crimes. Not to mention, this incident happened over 500 years ago. Much of our world has changed since then. Besides, he was also a victim of Embryo as well." Salamandinay said before one of the shrine maidens spoke out and agreed to her.
"I must agree with Salamandinay." The others turned to her in shock. "I'm not defending him. But we can't forget that Sir Shin and his comrades had risked their lives to defend our world from the Kaiser Empire. Besides, if we unjustly find him guilty for something that was beyond his control, then how are we any different from Embryo and his false humans."
"Even so, how are we supposed to know if he still has any loyalty towards Embryo?"
"Indeed. Let's not forget about this Kurt. He was once loyal to Sir Dean and his friends, but he betrayed them by siding with Embryo."
Salamandinay could tell this conversation won't end well. She then looked at the High Priestess who was silent this whole time.
'High Priestess…You hadn't said anything yet. I wonder what your thoughts are.' She thought to herself.
Shin was in a room that was provided for him thanks to Salamandinay. He was wearing iron cuffs around his wrists, but she wanted to make his stay here comfortable.
Two guards were standing by the door while Shin was seated on the bed. While they were standing guard they were whispering to themselves.
"Honestly. He should be locked in a cell. Not here." One of them said.
"True. But this is a request from Lady Salamandinay, so what choice did we have?"
"Honestly, she's too kind for her own good. There shouldn't be a trial at all, he should be executed right now."
"You can't possibly mean that. Don't forget Sir Shin helped save our city once before."
"Maybe so. But it still doesn't change the fact, he helped create the same devil machines that destroyed our world once. What could possibly possess him to serve a man like Embryo?"
Shin heard their conversation, he then remembers the day when he first Embryo many centuries ago.
(Flashback)
A fifteen-year-old Shin was standing inside of an auditorium where he was giving a science presentation in front of over hundreds of famous and well renowned scientists.
He was wearing his glasses and a lab coat.
Between Shin's hands was a holographic projection of supersymmetric particles.
"As I'm sure you're all aware. But after the discovery of supersymmetric particles most of the world's energy crisis had been solved. But it also leads to new possibilities which is why I'm here as well." Shin said before he dismissed the projection. "What if there's a way to use that very principle to open even more possibilities?"
The scientists in front of Shin were curious about what he meant. Shin then brings out a holographic projection of a power core which will lead to the creation of seven machines.
"I call this the Quantum Spatial Drive. It's only theoretical, but with this power core, we'll be able to harness the very essence of space itself and wield it as a physical matter. Think about it? With the power of space within our hands, we can create a forcefield of light that can protect the Earth from meteorites and travel to the farthest reaches of space. The possibilities with this device will be limitless."
Many of them were deeply intrigued by his theory, but there was one among them who was mostly interested in Shin's intelligence along with his ability to adapt and to find new possibilities.
He had long blonde hair and had a smile on his face with his hand on his chin.
After his presentation had ended, Shin was gathering his things.
"Man…here I thought they would laugh at me. Glad that didn't happen." Shin said before he took off his glasses.
"You shouldn't be tense like that. It goes to show you that you truly won over their hearts and minds." A voice calls out to him.
Shin looked and saw someone approaching. To his shock, it was his idol and soon to be mentor, Dr. Embryo.
"D-D-Dr. Embryo?!" Shin said in shock.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Shinya Okabe." Embryo greeted him and Shin was surprised that he knew his name.
"Y-You know who I am?" Shin asked.
"But of course. Shinya Okabe. Age fifteen. You came from a long line of scientists and possess an uncharted IQ. Because of that, you graduated from college at a young age and with seven PhDs." Embryo said.
"H-How do you…?" Shin said and Embryo chuckled.
"I make it a habit to be on the lookout for promising talent. But yours pales in comparison to many others. I listened to your presentation, and I was impressed."
Shin nervously chuckles as he rubs the back of his head.
"Oh…It was nothing. I only got the idea from your research." Shin said.
"True. But it shows me that you're quick to adapt and can find new possibilities. That's the kind of thing I like in a man." Embryo said and Shin blinked to hear that.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, yes. I haven't told you why I'm here." Embryo coughs in his hand and explains himself to Shin. "I'm putting together a team of many gifted scientists, and I want you to join me as my personal lab assistant."
Shin was shocked by this before he smiled in excitement.
"Really? You want me sir?" Shin asked and Embryo nodded.
"But of course. You see, I have great plans in changing this world. And I want your help to do just that." Embryo told the young Shin before he offered his hand for a shake. "What do you say? Interested?"
"Of course!" Shin said before he shook his hand. "It will be my honor."
(End of flashback)
Shin then lies down on the bed and places his hands on his face as he remembers another memory.
(Flashback)
On the island that was once Embryo's laboratory. Shin and Embryo have finished building three Ragna-mails, they begin building the four models with Shin typing on a computer as he makes some adjustments on a special system for each of the Ragna-mails.
"How are the adjustments, Shinya?" Embryo asked.
"They're coming along great. But I have to say, this Archangel-System is truly something else. I still can't believe you made something like this in only two years." Shin said.
"Yes…two years." Embryo said before Shin turned to him.
"Is something wrong?" Shin said and Embryo sighed but answered.
"Well…Being inside my dimensional prison for so long, my sense of time isn't what it used to be." Embryo said.
"What do you mean?"
"What I'm saying is…It may have been two years for you, but to me, it felt more like 500 years. I'm not the same man that I once was, Shinya." Embryo told his former pupil.
But Shin smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, that doesn't matter right now. Because to me, you'll always be the Dr. Embryo that I respect and admire." Shin told him.
Embryo stares at him a bit surprised before he chuckles.
"Honestly. I really did miss that nativity of yours." Embryo said.
"Hey, what does that mean?" Shin said before they end up chuckling together.
(End of flashback)
"Honestly…why can't I get these memories out of my head?" Shin mutters to himself.
The Rangers and Pixel were in the command room as they used their satellites to find any sign of Jester. That's when Pixel found him.
"Found him!" Pixel said before she brought the footage on the large screen.
They soon saw Jester entering a building in the ruins of the city.
"Guess that's where his second act's going to be." Alisa said.
"Then let's not keep him waiting." Dean said and the others nodded. "I know Shin isn't here with us, but we still have our mission to defend the Earth. For those who carried on after the D-War and for Shin."
"For Shin." Claire said.
"For Shin." Aaron said.
"For Shin." Alisa said.
They then head to the transporter and use their Morphers.
"Access the Morphin Grid!"
After they morph, the Nexus Rangers then teleport with Pixel watching them leave.
"Good luck, Rangers." Pixel said before they saw that Sayla had entered the room. "Sayla? Were you watching?"
"I had." Sayla nodded. "I'm sorry.
"There's no need to be sorry." Pixel waved her hands. "But how are you feeling?"
"A bit better." Sayla said before she lowered her head.
"If you're still bothered by what Alisa just said, she didn't mean it like that." Pixel told her but Sayla shook her head.
"No, it's fine. Especially when she's right." Sayla said.
"What?" Pixel said.
"Before my daughter was born, all I did was indulge myself in the peace and prosperity I was given while others suffered and died because of it." Sayla said.
"Hey, that's not fair. You didn't even know about these things until now." Pixel said.
"But I'm still just as guilty for it. After Serra was born, all I could think about is how I can protect her and raise her in that world. After I was told the truth, I can't help but wonder what her fate was going to be if she fought these DRAGONs and how so many mothers were torn from their daughters because of it. How many had died while I lived in peace and without any hardships?" Sayla said.
"Sayla…" Pixel said before she placed her small hand on her shoulder.
"And here I am again. Indulging myself while those kids and their friend are in trouble." Sayla said.
"That's not true. Do you remember when Kurt attacked? You manage to pull through for us during that. But then again, I was shut down, so I didn't see it myself. But you did help in the end." Pixel reminded her.
"That was then. This is now…and right now, I'm powerless to do anything." Sayla said.
While Pixel wonders how to cheer her up, she notices something appearing on the computer screen.
"What the?" Pixel said.
Sayla blinks before she looks and sees that the computer was bringing something out on its own and Pixel saw it was the Legendary Database.
"The Legendary Database?" Pixel said.
"What's going on?" Sayla asked.
"I don't know. I'm just as clueless as you are." Pixel told her.
The Legendary Database then brought out a historic archive and showed footage of a boy who once snuck aboard on a space colony known as Terra Venture. Pixel recognizes this moment in Ranger history.
"Isn't this…?" Pixel said before she and Sayla watched the footage.
Jester was humming to himself as he spun around in the building.
"Lalala! Oh I can't wait to see how Rangers will handle act two!" Jester said.
"Stop right there!" Jester looks and the Rangers soon arrive as they jump and enter the room.
"Oh my! You've arrived earlier than expected. And I didn't have enough time to prepare." Jester said.
"Yeah. Like we're going to believe what you say." Claire siad.
"Ouch! I can see you're still touchy about my first act." Jester said.
"And I'm looking forward to having some payback." Jester laughs when he hears that.
"We'll see about that…Xedroids!" Jester said and a legion of Xedroids appeared and faced the Rangers.
"Let's go!" Dean said before he and his team charge and battle against the Xedroids.
As Jester watched them fight, he couldn't help but chuckle quietly.
'My just look at them go. But little do they know I placed a series of explosives beneath this very building.' Jester thought to himself as he looked at the ground.
Beneath the building were several bombs attached to the support pillars as they began to count down.
'Once the timer reaches zero, the building will collapse right above them. They'll be buried alive with no chance to escape. I wanted to do this with all five of them together, but oh well, I'll handle him another time. For now, I'll settle with the four of them.' Jester thought to himself as he laughed.
In the Rangers' base, the Legendary Database continues to show Sayla and Pixel footage of people who are powerless like Sayla.
It ended with the people who lived in a city known as Angel Grove had fought and helped a Ranger team in their time of need.
"Come on! Let's get in there! Who's with me?!" A man's voice could be heard, and a large group cheered showing they were with him.
After that ended, the Legendary Database stopped showing them more footage and dismissed itself.
"Well…that was unexpected." Pixel said to herself before she turned to Sayla who was in awe of what the Legendary Database had shown her.
She was now in deep thought about what she saw before she remembers how Dean helped both her and her daughter. She then remembers how powerless she was when they took Serra away from her and how she found the courage to help Dean when Kurt had attacked.
But what was she doing now? Doing nothing while Shin was under trial for a crime that he didn't commit. Sayla tightly clenches her hand and hardens her resolve as she makes her decision.
Shin was on the bed that was provided for him, but he could hear guards talking amongst themselves.
"Did you hear? The Rangers are fighting right now."
That got Shin's attention before he sat up.
"Yes. Apparently, the foe they're facing is a trickster. I hope they're alright."
Shin was now worried for his friends before he looked at his wrist where he usually wears his Morpher before he shook his head.
"No. It's not my problem anymore. Besides, I'm sure they can manage without me." Shin mutters to himself.
That's when they heard a knock on the door. The guards open it and see it is Naga and Kaname, they soon enter the room and approach the Blue Ranger.
"The council is now ready to see you." Naga said.
"Okay. Then let's go." Shin said as he stood on the floor.
Naga and Kaname soon brought Shin to the High Priestess and the council members as he faced them.
"We'd brought him." Naga and Kaname bowed before them.
The High Priestess then spoke to Shin.
"Shinya Okabe. After much discussion, we made a consensus on what your sentence will be. Are you ready to accept your fate?"
Shin nodded.
"I am. I may be 500 years too late. But I'm ready to accept the punishment for my crime." Shin.
"Shin…" Salamandinay said in worry.
"Very well. Then in the name of our Great Mother, I hereby…" The High Priestess said.
Shin calmly closed his eyes as he was ready to accept his fate while Salamandinay could only watch and listen in worry. But before she could finish, they heard voices from the other side of the room.
"Who are you?!"
"Wait! You cannot enter!"
As they wonder what was going on, the doors opened and to Shin and Salamandinay's shock it was Sayla.
"Sayla?" Shin said.
"What is she…?" Salamandinay said.
The guards grab onto Sayla to pull her out of the room, but she manages to pull herself free and enter the room as she walks to Shin and speaks to the High Priestess and the Shrine Maidens.
"Hold everything! I object to what you are doing!" Sayla told them before she stopped at Shin's side.
"Sayla, what are you doing?" Shin asked.
"Isn't that obvious? I'm here to help you." Sayla told him.
"No. You can't do this. You have a daughter, remember?" Shin said and Sayla shook her head and smiled at him.
"It's alright. You and your friends already did so much for me. It's time that I return the favor." Sayla told him.
"But…"
That's when the shrine maidens and council members spoke to Sayla.
"Who are you?!"
"Why do you oppose our sacred trial?!"
Sayla then turns to them with a strong resolve in her eyes.
"My name is Sayla. I'm from the other Earth. I'm what you call a False Human." Sayla confessed to them, and they were surprised to hear this.
"Wait…Salamandinay, is this the same False Human in your report?" One of them asked the Princess of the Freyja. Salamandinay was hesitant at first but answered.
"Yes. This is her. She's the one that Sir Dean had brought him when he journeyed to the False Earth." Salamandinay told them.
"Then you should know that your kind aren't welcome here!"
"And yet you dare to defile these holy grounds with your blasphemous feet?"
That's when Shin spoke out in protest.
"Now hold on! Sayla has nothing to do with this! I'm the only one who's guilty here! She's an innocent victim with a daughter waiting for her! You can't just…"
"Silence! You are not the one we are questioning right now." One of them told the Blue Ranger.
"But…" Shin said before Sayla spoke to him.
"It's alright. They're right. That's why…" Sayla turns back to them. "I'm going to share my fate with him."
Salamandinay and the shrine maidens were stunned by this.
"Just like Shin has every right to be punished for his crime, I'm going to do the same. Because like the others in my world, I was nothing but an ignorant human being who took the peace and prosperity that Embryo had made for granted. I also selfishly used Mana for my own needs. Because of that, so many of your people and many others have suffered. When my daughter was born, I wanted for us to live a happy life together. But that would also be selfish because many Norma like her would continue to suffer because of it."
(Meanwhile)
The Rangers continue their battle against Jester and his squad of Xedroids.
Aaron punches two Xedroids while Claire avoids some blaster fire by backflipping.
"After she was taken from me…I once considered taking my own life because I couldn't bear living in this world without her." Sayla said.
Alisa punches one Xedroids on the face and kicks another to the ground.
"But then Dean came and brought my daughter to me. He then brought me to this world."
"Racer Saber!" Dean said as he held his Saber and clashed weapons with Jester.
"He helped me because it was wrong for my daughter to be prosecuted simply because she was born different from others. He brought us here so we could be together. To be free."
Then the Red Ranger and Jester brought their weapons in a bladed lock before they pushed each other.
"But once again, I was taking my peace for granted. I started to become frustrated because there's nothing I can do."
After the others defeat the Xedroids, Jester throws several objects, some of them were bombs while others were decoys.
They soon pull out their Blasters to fire at them, they manage to hit the bombs and decoys, but the remaining bombs explode in front of them, and the Rangers roll on the ground while Jester laughs at them.
"But being with Dean and his friends has taught me something." Sayla said before she turned to Shin. "As long as you have the courage and the resolve to do what's right. You can do anything."
"Sayla…" Shin said.
Sayla once again faced the High Priestess and the shrine maidens.
"That's why I'm not going to stand by and do nothing anymore. So if you're going to punish him for just having an association with Embryo, then you might as well punish me too." She told them.
The shrine maidens and council members were stunned by this as they began to whisper to each other. But then the High Priestess raised her hand, telling them to be silent and they obeyed.
She then spoke to Sayla.
"False Human. Your name is Sayla, correct?"
"Yes." Sayla nodded.
"Well then, Sayla. Are you truly determined to share your fate with this man?" The High Priestess questioned her and Sayla nodded and showed her a determined look.
"I am."
But Shin only grew concerned by this.
"Very well then." The High Priestess raised her hand ready to carry out their sentence. "By the name of our Great Mother, and by my authority as the High Priestess…"
Shin tightly closes his eyes in worry for Sayla and Salamandinay was also concerned for her as well.
"You are hereby found…" She stopped for a moment and everyone in the room was on edge before she finished. "Innocent of any crimes towards us."
Everyone, including Salamandinay and the council members were surprised by this as they looked at the High Priestess.
"What?"
"High Priestess! Surely you jest?"
"I am not. This is a decision based around my own judgment. Besides…" The High Priestess looks at Sayla. "How could I possibly find her guilty for having the courage and resolve to help a friend in need?"
Sayla sighed in relief before she fell to her knees.
"Are you okay?" Shin asks in concern and Sayla smiles at him.
"I'm quite fine…I was just tense since I got here." Sayla told him and Shin chuckled.
"Really? Then how do you think I've felt?" Shin asked before they chuckled together.
After the trial was over, Kaname had helped Sayla stand back up while Naga unlocked Shin's cuffs with Salamandinay approaching them.
"Well...I must say these past few days were a bit tense. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest." Salamandinay said.
Shin then rubs on his wrists after the cuffs are taken off.
"Jokes aside, do I really deserve this?" Shin questions them and to himself.
"You do." Salamandinay said and Shin looked at her. "Even if you did make a mistake, it's natural. It's just a reminder that you're still human in the end. All we can do is to learn from them, so we can never repeat them."
"Salamandinay…" Shin said.
"She's right." Naga said, getting his attention. "I also acted out of line. You were just another victim of Embryo's deception. So I hope you can forgive me."
"It's fine. I can understand." Shin said before Naga turned to Sayla as she and Kaname approached them.
"Truth be told, I'm still stunned that you rushed in here to help him. You were powerless but yet, you still had the courage to come here." Naga said.
"Well…as long as you keep fighting for what's right, you'll always have power." Sayla said and those words sound very familiar to Shin.
"Wait. How did you know that?" Shin said.
"It's a long story. But here." Sayla said before she brings out his Morpher. "Pixel wanted me to give this to you."
Shin looks at his Morpher in deep thought. He once again remembers how he created the Ragna-mail with Embryo, only for him to use them to destroy the world and to take over another Earth.
Then he remembers how he became a Power Ranger with his friends. All the people he helped since then and how he helped the people of this time. He then remembers the promise he made with Dean and Claire after they woke up and how they reunited with the rest of their friends and continue to fight to protect their world.
Shin then took his Morpher back and put it on his wrist.
"You know…I started to feel naked without this. Thank you." Shin said.
"You're welcome. But you should go now, your friends need your help." Sayla told him.
"Then I can't waste anymore time." Shin said before he said the catchphrase but with a different twist. "It's time for mollecular transmutation!"
Salamandinay's crew and Sayla were confused by that.
"Huh?" Kaname blinks.
"It must be another phrase for Morphin' Time." Salamandinay theorized.
Shin pressed the button to change the mode of his Morpher before he brought out his Card.
"Load Card! Access the Morphin Grid!" Shin said as he loaded the Card and pressed the button on his Morpher.
(Morphing sequence)
Shin is seen standing inside of the mechanical room before the screen on his Morpher showed his Ranger Form and weapons.
Shin fired a beam from his Morpher to bring out the holographic screen.
The platform soon opens and Shin jumps down into the tunnel of Morphin Grid energy.
Then the digital lines appeared around his body and formed his Ranger Suit before he landed on the ground.
As he stood up and the digital lines appeared to form his helmet.
(End of sequence)
After his morph, Shin contacted Pixel with his Morpher as she appeared on the screen.
"Hey, Pix." Shin greeted his team's AI companion.
"I guess the trial went well?" Pixel asked and Shin nodded.
"It did. Send me to Dean and the others." Shin told her and Pixel nodded.
"You got it!"
Pixel types on her computer to teleport Shin out of the temple to where his friends are fighting.
Jester once again set off a series of explosions in front of the Rangers as they rolled on the ground. They manage to stand up and face Jester.
"Hahaha! Are you having a blast Rangers? Because I'm having a blast!" Jester laughs by his own pun while Claire groans.
"Aaahhh. I don't know what's worse. His bombs or his puns." The Pink Ranger and Jester placed a hand on his chest as he felt hurt by her words.
"How hurtful. And you're supposed to be heroes. Well no matter, in a few seconds you'll be as good as dead." Jester said as he checked the time on his staff which was keeping track of the time from the bombs underground and he only had a few seconds left. "And now…For my next trick, I'll shall-"
"Get a blast in the face!" A voice calls out.
"Hmm?" Jester looked and saw someone firing on his face with blaster fire.
Everyone looked and saw it was Shin, armed with his Nexus Blaster, as he was now in the room.
"Shin!" The other Rangers said in relief that he's here and the Blue Ranger turns to his friends.
"Hey, guys. I didn't keep you waiting, did I?" Shin asked before his friends approached him.
"No, you're just in time." Alisa said.
"But you still could've shown up sooner." Aaron said as he lightly punched on his shoulder.
"So, I guess you finally overcome your guilt trip?" Dean asked and Shin nodded.
"I had. And you were right, all of you were. I may have helped create the Ragna-mail, but in the end, it was Embryo who used them for evil. That's why…I'm done letting my past hold me back. It's time that I start fighting for a brighter future, as a Power Ranger." Shin told them and his smiles to hear that.
"Now there's the Shin that we know." Dean said.
"Ummm…excuse me?!" Jester called out and the Rangers turned to him. "I hate to ruin the moment, but I must still bid you farewell."
"If you're worried about your little bombs, don't be." Shin said before he showed several bomb timers that were hanging in his hand. "I already took care of that."
Jester was shocked by this.
"But how?! You couldn't have disarmed them all!" Jester said but Shin shrugged.
"Well, it was a simple matter once Pixel told me about the wiring and the failsafe. Tech is sort of my thing." Shin said before he throws the timers out of the way. "Now then…How about we finish this?"
The Rangers stood side-by-side and faced Jester before they did their roll call and strike their poses.
"Red Ranger Power, Nexus Red!" Dean declared as he swipes his thumb across his helmet.
"Blue Ranger Power, Nexus Blue!" Shin said.
"Black Ranger Power, Nexus Black!"
"Yellow Ranger Power, Nexus Yellow!"
"Pink Ranger Power, Nexus Pink!"
"Nexus Rangers…"
"We stand united!" They shouted together before an explosion appeared behind them and Jester was confused to see that.
"Wait. I never set any bombs there." Jester said.
The Nexus Rangers then charge at Jester to fight him.
Dean clashes weapons with Jester using his Racer Saber before he manages to parry one of his attacks and land two slashes on his chest.
That's when Shin jumps over him before he rolls on the ground and attacks Jester with his claws and the Commander stumbles back.
Aaron then attacks him with his Dozer Hammer.
"Dozer Hammer!" Aaron said before he sent Jester flying across the room.
Alisa follows him by using her flying abilities before she moves in behind Jester and kicks him to the ground.
As Jester stood back up, he saw Claire charging at him and the Commander threw several rock bombs at her but Claire avoided the explosions by flipping forward.
"Wahoo!"
Jester then throws a ball bomb at her, but Claire uses her gymnastic abilities to pick it up with her foot and throw it back at Jester as it explodes in front of him which sends him rolling on the ground.
Claire landed on her feet.
"I still got it!" Claire said before the other Rangers moved to her side.
Jester soon stood back up and faced the Rangers.
"Don't think I'm done yet!" Jester said as he was still determined to fight the Rangers.
"Hey, guys. How about we do something special for Shin?" Dean said and three of the Rangers nodded before they brought out a Legendary Blue Ranger Card.
Shin was touched by this to see that.
"Thanks. I really appreciate it." Shin said before he brought out his own Legendary Blue Ranger Card.
"Load Legendary Ranger Card! Blue Ranger Power!" The Nexus Rangers said before they load the Cards into their Morphers to transform into legendary Blue Rangers.
Dean, the Operation Overdrive Blue Ranger.
Shin, the Jungle Fury Blue Ranger.
Aaron, the Blue Wild Force Ranger.
Alisa, a female version of the Blue Samurai Ranger.
Claire, a female version of the Blue Megaforce Ranger.
"A blue to blue party?" Jester said before the Rangers brought out their weapons.
Dean charges at Jester to attack him. Jester retaliates by swinging his stick at him, Dean avoids it by sliding on his back and aiming the Drive Vortex at him.
"Drive Vortex!" Dean said as he fired a powerful blast of air at Jester and the Commander was sent flying to the ceiling as he crashed onto it before he fell to the ground.
After Jester stood back up, he saw Aaron and Shin charging at him.
"Fighting Fins!/Jungle Tonfa!" Both Rangers said as they attacked Jester with their weapons before their last attack forced Jester to stumble back only for Alisa and Claire to aim their long range weapons at him.
"Hydro Bow!/Shark Bowgun!" They said as they fired energy shots at Jester which sent him rolling on the ground.
As Jester slowly stood back up, the Nexus Rangers changed back to their base forms and brought out their Nexus Daggers along with their SuperCharge Cards.
"Load SuperCharge Card!" Dean said.
"Load Card!" The others said before they load their Cards into their Daggers.
The Rangers assumed their stance as their Daggers glowed with energy in their respective colors.
They soon charge at Jester with Dean and Aaron moving like a race car and a dozer while running like a wolf with Alisa and Claire flying like a falcon and helicopter.
The Rangers then attack Jester one at a time starting with Dean then to Shin, Aaron, Alisa and Claire.
They soon stop as sparks of electricity appear around Jester's body as he groans.
"This can't be…" Jester said before he fell to the ground and exploded.
After that, Shin spun his Dagger around before he stopped.
"Morphinominal." Shin said.
Once again, the Prince had watched Jester being defeated by the Rangers and he sighed in disappointment.
"And I had high hopes for him. But once again I was left disappointed. Be thankful I'm actually giving you a second chance. Cyber!" Prince Crimson said.
"Activating the Kaiser Reanimator." Cyber said before he activated the Reanimator and it soon fired a beam at Jester's remains.
After the beam hit his remains, Jester was revived and grew into a giant.
"Look at me! And here I thought I couldn't get an encore!" Jester said and the Rangers looked up at him.
"Honestly, you think that trick would be old by now." Claire said.
"But it is a Ranger classic." Alisa said.
"Then how about we change things up?" Dean said before he brought out his Zord Card along with a Megazord Card and showed the latter to Shin.
The Megazord Card showed a formation between the Racer and Wolf Zords. Shin was once again touched by this before he brought out his Zord Card.
"Did you even have to ask?" Shin said.
Then both Dean and Shin load their Cards into their Morphers.
"Deploy, Nexus Racer Zord!"
"Nexus Wolf Zord!"
"And now…Load Megazord Card!" Dean said before he loads the Card into his Morpher. "Initiate, Wolf Formation!"
Then the words 'Initiate Megazord Sequence - Wolf Formation' appeared on Dean and Shin's Morphers.
(Megazord Sequence)
The Racer Zord in Battle Mode is seen running in a forest as it moves beside the trees in front of it with the Wolf Zord running beside it.
The Wolf Zord howls before its cannon detaches itself before it jumps to the Racer Zord.
The Racer Zord's right arm folds and moves to the back making room for the Wolf Zord to attach itself to the Racer Zord to act as the right arm before the Racer Zord catches the Nexus Blaster with its left hand.
The jewel on its chest turns blue.
The head changes into the form of a blue wolf helmet with a silver eye mask with orange eyes and a blue mouthpiece.
The Rangers then appeared in the Megazord's cockpit as they stood on their platforms and attached their Morphers to it.
"Access Controls!" The Rangers said.
"Nexus Megazord - Wolf Formation!" The Rangers declare as the full moon shines behind their Megazord and the sounds of wolves howling is heard.
(End of sequence)
The Megazord then faced Jester who wasn't intimidated by its appearance.
"Oh please. Like that's going to intimidate me!" Jester said before he levitates some buildings with his stick and throws them at the Megazord.
The Rangers then took a few steps forward.
But the Megazord avoids them by moving at high speed while leaving a blue blur behind. Seeing that shocked Jester.
"What the?!"
The Megazord then uses its enhanced speed to run around the giant Commander, Jester tries to follow it but ends up getting dizzy as his eyes turn into swirls.
The Megazord then fires its blaster at Jester landing some good hits around his body before it stops and Jester glares at the Megazord.
"Why you…Don't you're better than me just because you're fast!" Jester said before he levitated some buildings and turned them into bombs.
Jester soon throws his building bombs at the Megazord.
"Activate, Cannon Mode!" Shin said before he pressed the button on his Morpher's screen.
The Nexus Blaster changes into its Cannon Mode and the Megazord uses it as a sniper rifle and fires powerful precision shots at the buildings as they explode.
Jester was once again surprised by this before Megazord fired a long range powerful shot at the giant Commander which sent him rolling on the ground.
"Ow! Ouch! Ooohhh!"
The Rangers were ready to finish Jester before Shin spoke to Dean.
"Hey, Dean. Mind if I do the honor this time?" Shin requested. Dean chuckled before he nodded.
"Of course. Be my guest." He told him.
"Alright! Super Nexus Blaster!" Shin calls out and the Blaster appears before the Blue Ranger and he holds it in his hands.
Jester stood up on his feet.
"Nice shot! But let's see how you handle this!" Jester said before he created a copy of himself and they spun around and faced the Megazord. "Can you guess which is which?!"
"We don't have to!" Shin said as he readied and aimed the Blaster.
The other Rangers bring out and aim their Blasters at him.
"Nexus Megazord, Double Wolf Blast!" The Rangers said before they fired their Blasters at Jester.
The Megazord aimed its Nexus Blaster and Wolf Head at both Jesters as they charge up with blue energy and fired a beam with the Blaster and Head. Both beams pierce straight though both Jesters.
As sparks appeared around his body, Jester's illusion clone disappeared.
"No! I can't perish here! I have a stage show appearance tomorrow!" Jester said as he fell to the ground and exploded.
The Megazord then rested its Blaster on its shoulder while bringing its Wolf Head forward.
"Never underestimate humans!" The Nexus Rangers said before Shin took a deep breath as he finally made peace with himself.
"And with that…I overcome my past and make way for my future." Shin said to himself.
(Later)
After their battle, the Rangers had returned to their base while cheering that Shin was now free of any crimes towards Aura and her children.
"I'm so happy for you, Shin. Now you don't have to worry about people giving you the stink eye." Claire said as she hugged him.
"Thanks. And you were right before. I can't change the past, but I can at least make up for it by doing what's right." Shin said.
"Then I'm proud of you." Claire gave him a thumbs up.
"We all are." Dean placed a hand on the Blue Ranger's shoulder.
"But truth be told, I'm still surprised Sayla rushed in to help you." Aaron said.
"Yeah. What would possess her into taking such a risk?" Alisa said.
The Rangers then turned to Pixel.
"Did you have anything to do with it, Pixel?" Shin asked but Pixel shook her head.
"Actually, no. And it's the strangest thing. After you left, Sayla entered the room, that's when the Legendary Database…" Pixel said before she received a call. "Hold on, I'm getting a call."
Pixel brought out her personal computer and the Rangers approached her.
"From who?" Dean asked.
"From…Salamandinay." Pixel said before she brought Salamandinay's call on the screen.
"Salamandinay, what's with the call? Is something wrong?" Dean asked.
"No. Everything is fine. I've heard about your recent battle, so I've wanted to see if Shin is with you." Salamandinay told them.
Shin then appeared in front of the screen.
"I'm here. What do you want?" Shin asked.
"I…I was hoping to speak to you. I'm on Embryo's island right now." Salamandinay told him and the Rangers were surprised by that before they turned to Shin.
Shin thought about it before he nodded.
"Okay. I'll be there." Shin said and Salamandinay nodded before she ended the transmission.
"Shin, are you really sure about this?" Dean asked and the Blue Ranger nodded.
"I am. Besides, I'm done running from my past. It's time that I face it head on." Shin said before he heads to the transporter and uses it to teleport to Embryo's former laboratory.
Salamandinay's crew and Chiaki were waiting in the hangar for Shin's arrival. As they waited, Naga spoke to the princess.
"Are you truly certain about this, my lady?" Naga asked and Salamandinay nodded.
"I am. Shin trusted me with his life, so it's only fair that I do the same." Salamandinay told them.
"Very well then." Naga said.
That's when Shin had arrived as he appeared before them.
"I didn't you keep waiting did I?" Shin asked and Salamandinay chuckled before she approached him.
"No. You're just in time." Salamandinay said.
"So, what's the reason you called me here?" Shin asked.
"Well…It's mostly because of these." Salamandinay said before she and Shin looked at the three Ryuu-Shin-Kis.
"The Ryuu-Shin-Ki?" Shin said.
"Yes." Chiaki said, getting his attention. "Despite our best off, both the Soryugo and the Hekiryugo will still take about six to seven months until they're able to fly, let alone fight a Ragna-mail. And the Enryugo will take around a year or so."
"I see." Shin said in understanding.
"Which is why I wanted to speak to you. I want your help to complete these machines." Salamandinay told him and the Blue Ranger was surprised by that.
"What?"
"Yes. I was even surprised that she would suggest that." Chiaki said. "But your expertise with Ragna-mail technology might be the final key we need to speed up their production. We could also use that knowledge to finally stabilize the power connection between the Enryugo's Quantum Spatial Drive and Discord Phasers."
But Shin was hesitant at first before he looked at the Ryuu-Shin-Kis.
"Are you sure you even want my help? The last time I helped create a Ragna-mail, it didn't turn out so well." Shin said before Salamandinay placed a hand on his shoulder with a trustful smile on her face.
"I am. You trusted me with your life, so I'm trusting you with my life." Salamandinay assured him.
"But why put your trust in me?" Shin asked.
"Because you were right about one thing." Salamandinay said before she looked up at the Enryugo. "There's a good chance that one day, I'll become tempted to misuse this machine's powers. So I've decided that the best way to keep both it and myself in check is to make sure you help."
"Salamandinay…" Shin mutters before he thinks about it.
The Blue Ranger was in deep thought about this before he looked at the Enryugo. He then thought back on how he helped create the Ragna-mail, only for Embryo to use them to destroy their world and had no doubt caused many more crimes with them.
Embryo may have corrupted the work they did together, but he knows that Salamandinay can be trusted and will use the Ryuu-Shin-Ki to be a force for good.
With that, Shin made his decision and spoke to the Princess of the Freyja.
"Guess I should clean up my old room. Because I'm going to spend a lot of days here." Shin said and Salamandinay smiled.
"Thank you. Though it might take you a while to clean that room. It has been over 500 years." Salamandinay said before they chuckled.
"Yeah. But I'm not worried about that. Same with working on this island again." Shin said before he looked at the incomplete Enryugo. "Because this time, things will be different now."
Salamandinay turns to her incomplete machine as well.
"Then let's get to work." Salamandinay said as they have a long road ahead. But as long as they work together, they can do anything.
To be continued...
There you have it, hope you like it. Review to tell me what you think of the story.
Today's villain
Jester
Design: Illusion from Zyuohger
Whoa! This chapter was a long one, but I'm proud of it nonetheless. I bet you have questions on what Sayla had seen from the Legendary Database. But don't worry, they'll be answered in the upcoming intermission known as the Powerless.
