Chapter 1: Gem Glow
The episode start at Dedede castle where the castle is under construction by the Waddle Dees rebuilding it while Dedede is on a beach chair bored out of his mind unable to find anything to do cause of N.M.E no longer being around, he tried many things to get some excitement in his mind, but was unable to, he was then about to fall asleep until Escargoon came up from behind.
"Sire! Great news!" (Causes Dedede to jump out of his chair in fright.) "Sorry sire." Escargoon said
(grabs Escargoon by the beard and pulls him forward.) "What's the big idea, slug brain!?" Dedede asked
"I made something that will cheer you up, I've worked hard on it." Escargoon said
"Alright, let's see what it is." Dedede said (starts walking to where the thing Escargoon made while dragging Escargoon by the beard.)
Once they got to where it was, Dedede saw it was some type of machine as Escargoon was working on a few things at the controls.
"This is what you wanted to show me? An empty metal hole in the floor with a bunch of glowing orbs around it? As it's below the cliff Kirby's house is on?" Dedede asked
"Hold on, just have to install one more thing, a diamond." Escargoon said (carefully moves the lever down.)
"Ha! Like a diamond would be big enough to... whoa!" (becomes shocked from looking up to see an enormous diamond being lowered into the hole by a wire rope.) "Look at the size of that diamond!" Dedede said
"That is the diamond that will make this invention functional." Escargoon said (lowers the diamond into the hole for the machine to start up as the wire rope unwrapped from the diamond.)
"When did you have time to work on this?" Dedede asked
"I've been working on it since the day after Kirby came to dreamland, but when I finished building it, I had trouble activating it, until last week when I discovered this diamond inside a deep cave, I had the Waddle Dees lift it out of there and carry it here, and now with it, we can use it to travel wherever we want, maybe even another world." Escargoon said
"Another world?" (jumps onto the middle of the top of the diamond looking upwards.) "Let's test it out!" Dedede said
"Sire! We don't know where it'll take you!" Escargoon said in panic
"I've been bored ever since N.M.E was destroyed, and I want some excitement, even if it means going to another world, so start it out!" Dedede said
"If you say so." (goes to the computer and starts it up to see a world is in range with the same power as his machine in multiple areas of that world.) "we're in luck, there's a world in range, ready sire?" Escargoon asked
"Anything to get out of my bored state." Dedede said
"Okay, here we go." (hovers his finger over the button scared of what will happen.) "three, two, one!" Escargoon said (pushes the button activating it.)
The diamond started to glow causing Dedede to look at it scared of what's happening and was about to jump off it until a ray of light shot up from the diamond warping Dedede away making Escargoon scream in terror, the scene goes to space where the ray of light is soaring straight through with Dedede screaming the whole way, Dedede looked ahead to see he was approaching the world the ray of light is soaring at which made Dedede scared of what will happen next, but when the ray of light entered the planet's atmosphere, it disappeared causing Dedede to scream again as he flailed his arms around trying to fly, the scene changes to a beach where a little boy is walking on it humming a song while carrying a small freezer on his back but was stopped in fright when Dedede landed in front of him face forward.
"Hey, you okay?" the boy asked
(lifts his head up from the sand and spits some of it out.) "not one of my best landings, where am I?" Dedede asked (while standing up to dust the sand off himself.)
"You're in Beach City, it's famous for its huge beach, by the way, I'm Steven." Steven said
"The names King Dedede, or Dedede since I'm not in my world now." Dedede said
"You're a king? The others are not gonna believe this, come on!" Steven said (runs down the beach with Dedede following behind.)
After a long run, they are now at a beach house where Steven goes up to the door to open it while Dedede crawls over exhausted from the run.
(opens the door of his home while Dedede gets back up panting.) "Hey, guys, you won't believe this!" Steven said
Without warning, Steven was pounded by a strange creature making him and Dedede scream as it roared at Steven until a whip wrapped around it revealing the one to throw it to be a purple woman a little above Steven's height with a gem on her chest
"Sup Steven?" the purple woman asked (yanks the creature off of Steven.)
Dedede and Steven saw a bunch of them all over with a tall pale woman with an oval gem on her forehead fighting off the creatures with a spear on a diamond like the one Dedede was on along with a red woman taller than the pale one with gauntlets fighting them in the kitchen.
"Awesome, what are these things?" Steven asked
"Whatever they are, they're really creepy!" Dedede said (looks to his right only to get pounced to the ground by one screaming.)
(groans and lifts up one of the creatures.) "Ugh! Sorry, Steven. We'll get these Centipeetles out of your room. We think they were trying to get into the temple, and who's that strange thing you brought with you?" the pale woman asked
"I have a name!" Dedede yelled (panics trying to get the Centipeetle off.)
"That's Dedede, and you don't have to get rid of them, they're really cool." Steven said
The Centipeetle that the pale woman is holding spits acid onto the floor, dissolving it into a hole, which Steven and the pale woman look in disgust.
"Get rid of them! Get rid of them!" Dedede yelled (while slamming his fist on the head of the Centipeetle that pounced him.)
(poofs a Centipeetle and picks her nose) "Um, you guys? These things don't have gems." the purple woman said
"That means there must be a mother somewhere nearby." the red woman said
A Centipeetle sneaks up from beside the red woman, which she quickly punches away then pulls the one that pounced Dedede off of him.
"Not the kind of excitement I had in mind." Dedede said
"We should probably find it before anyone gets hurt." the pale woman said
(excitedly) "Oh! Oh! Can I come?! Can I?! Can I?!" Steven asked
"Steven, until you learn to control the powers in your gem, we'll take care of protecting humanity, okay?" the pale woman asked (snaps the neck of the Centipeetle she is holding making it poof which caused Dedede to hold his neck in fright from seeing it)
"Aw, man." (notices a Centipeetle raiding his fridge) "Hey! Get out of there! Go on! Shoo! Shoo! Aw! They got into everything! Not cool!" Steven said
The red woman punches and poofs it as Dedede lifts his foot from the broken milk carton it had on the floor. Steven then notices that the fridge is full of Cookie Cats.
"No way. I-it can't be! Wha-where did you get these?! I thought they stopped making them!" Steven said
(closes the fridge) "Well, we heard that, too, and since they're your favorite..." the pale woman didn't finish
"We went out and stole a bunch." the purple woman said
(grunts at the purple woman) "I went back and paid for them." the pale woman said
"The whole thing was my idea." (retracts her gauntlets back to her gems which made Dedede shocked from what he saw) "it's a gem thing." the red woman said
"It was everyone's idea." the purple woman said
"Not really." the red woman said
"All that matters is that Steven is happy." the pale woman said
"You three must really care about him." Dedede said
Steven then began rapping the song he hummed on the beach
Oohhhhh!
He's a frozen treat with an all new taste
'Cause he came to this planet from outer space
A refugee of an interstellar war
But now he's at your local grocery store
Cookie Cat!
He's a pet for your tummy
Cookie Cat!
He's super duper yummy
Cookie Cat!
He left his family behind
Cookie Caaaaat!
(spoken) "Now available at Gurgens off Route 109!" Steven said
Dedede and the Gems burst out in laughter and applause.
"That's quite a song." Dedede said
"I can't believe you did this. I'm gonna save these forever!... right after I eat this one." (tears open the wrapper of a Cookie Cat) "Hello, old friend." (bites into it) "Oh, so good!" (Steven's gem begins to glow.) "I like to eat the ears first." Steven said
"Uh, Steven..." the purple woman said
"Wha-?" (lifts his shirt) "My gem!" Steven said
"What's happening!?" Dedede asked
"Quick, try and summon your weapon!" the purple woman said
"I don't know how!" (panicking) "Aaaah, it's fading! How do I make it come back?!" Steven asked in panic
"Calm down, Steven. Breathe, don't force it." the pale woman said
"Yeah, and try not to poop yourself either." the purple woman said
"Please, don't." the red woman said
"I agree with them." Dedede said
Steven tries his best, but his gem's glow fades away, everyone collectively sighs.
"Ah, I was really close at that time! Can one of you just explain how to summon a weapon?" Steven asked
"Summon a weapon?" Dedede asked
(singsong voice) "Oh, I'll go first!" the pale woman said
The scene changes to a hill with a blossom tree in the middle with falling petals as the pale woman is standing close to it while Steven and Dedede are sitting on the ground.
"Pay attention to these petals, Steven, you too, Dedede. The petals' dance seems improvised, but it is being calculated in real time based on the physical properties of this planet. With hard work and dedication, you can master the magical properties of your gem and perform your own dance! (summons her spear from her gem) "Like so." the pale woman said
Steven was in awe while Dedede was shocked from what he saw, the scene then changes to a store with a big donut sign where Steven and Dedede are carrying a bunch of petals.
(he and Dedede toss both piles of petals in the air) "Wuh!" Steven yelled
"Did Pearl tell you the petal thing?" the purple woman asked
"That's who the pale woman is?" Dedede asked
"Yup, and I'm Amethyst, the one taller than Pearl is Garnet, she can see the future." Amethyst said (Dedede shudders from what he heard)
"Yeah, I need to practice really hard so I can dance like a tree... I think." Steven said
"Listen Steven, all that practice stuff is no fun. Whenever I need to summon my weapon, it just happens." (summons her whip and breaks a nearby garbage container in two) "See? Didn't try at all." Amethyst said
Steven scratches his head while Dedede was shocked from seeing it happen.
(runs outside and drops a trash bag) "Aaah! Again?!" (Dedede ran away screaming while picking up Steven and Amethyst surprising them while the worker was confused about what he saw.) "Who was that?" the worker asked
The scenes changes again to show Steven and Dedede on top of the house near a lighthouse with Garnet.
"So I'm supposed to work really hard and not try at all at the same time?" Steven asked
"Yes." Garnet said
"How is he supposed to do that?" Dedede asked
Steven already never listens and stands there with his silence as Dedede scratches the top of his head.
"Or... you could link your mind with the energy of all existing matter. Channeling the collective power of the universe through your gem, which results in..." (summons her gauntlets) "At least that's my way of doin' it." Garnet said
Scene changes back to the kitchen where Steven, Dedede and the gems are close to the fridge.
"I think my best bet is to recreate what happened the last time my gem glowed. So..." (points as he directs Dedede and the Gems) "Garnet and Amethyst were here. Pearl was next to the fridge. Dedede was standing on top of the line between the kitchen and the hall. Hmm. Amethyst, I think your arms were crossed?" Steven asked
"Okay, your majesty." Amethyst said (crosses arms)
"And Pearl, your foot was like this." Steven said (tilts one of her feet slightly)
"I don't think it works this way, Steven." Pearl said
"Let the kid do it, just so he can get his mind off it." Dedede said
"And Garnet, uh..." (squishes and moves her face upward) "Yeah." (retrieved the half-eaten Cookie Cat from before from the fridge) "Then I took a bite of this Cookie Cat. Oh, wait! I sang the song first." (rapping in off-key) "Uh, he's a frozen treat, all new taste, interstellar war, now available at Gurgens-" (but nothing happens.) "Awww, it was funnier last time." (lifts his shirt to see his gem and sigh) "Maybe I'm not a real Crystal Gem." Steven said
(bends down next to Steven) "Don't be silly, Steven. Of course you are." Pearl said
"And you're fun to have around, even if your gem is useless." (Pearl gets angry at Amethyst.) "I mean... you're one of us, Steven. We're not the Crystal Gems without you!" Amethyst said
"That's what you three are?" Dedede asked (gets a nod from Garnet)
"Yeah, even if I don't have powers, I've still got... Cookie Cat!" (takes a bite) "Mmm, so good." Steven said
Steven's gem begins to glow again, and a shield materializes in front of him. Dedede and the Gems collectively gasp.
(amazed) "Steven, it's a shield!" Pearl said
"And it's a pink one!" Dedede said
"... Whoa, what?! I get a shield?! Oh... YEAH!" (Steven accidentally launches his shield causing Dedede to duck from it in fright, which ricochets all around the room, before smashing into Steven's TV. Amethyst bursts out laughing while Pearl groans in disappointment.) "Huh? Cookie Cat! I summon my weapon by eating ice cream!" Steven said
"Don't do anything like that again though, I nearly lost my head from it." Dedede said (while holding his hand against his chest from the scare.)
(picks up the wrapper on the floor) "What's in these things?" Pearl asked
The house begins to rumble. Silhouettes of Centipeetles can be seen outside the window. Steven's shield also disappears, leaving a dent in the TV.
"What was that?" Steven asked
Dedede and the Gems run out of the house and see a Centipeetle, biggest of all, crawling up the temple.
"What is that thing!?" Dedede asked in fright
"It's the Mother!" Garnet said (leaps towards it.)
"Stay in the house, Steven!" Pearl said
"No way! I'm coming, too!" Steven said
Steven goes back to grab several Cookie Cats and the Cookie Cat freezer. Garnet begins her assault at the Centipeetle Mother. The battle descends towards the beach, as the Crystal Gems brace themselves for battle. The Centipeetle Mother sprays a stream of acid towards them, which they dodge out of the way and take refuge behind a broken hand statue of the temple on the beach. The Centipeetle Mother continues spraying acid, dealing considerable damage to the hand statue as it begins to melt.
"It's got acid spit!?" Dedede asked in fright (crawls behind Amethyst.)
"We could really use Steven's shield right about now!" Amethyst said
(chucks pebble at Mother) "Hey!" (plants the freezer into the ground) "Leave them alone!" Steven said
"Steven, no!" the Gems said
"What are you doing, kid!?" Dedede asked in fright
"Cookie Cat Crystal combo powers, activate!" (eats a Cookie Cat and lifts his shirt, The Centipeetle Mother stares maniacally as nothing happens.) "Uh-oh. Aaaah!" Steven yelled (retreats a distance away with the freezer)
"We need to save Steven!" Pearl said (dodges an attack from the Centipeetle Mother's tail pincers)
"Can we save ourselves first?!" Amethyst asked
"I'll save Steven!" Dedede said (runs on all four towards Steven while confusing Pearl.)
"Goodbye, my friends." (eats several Cookie Cats as he weeps, his stomach rumbles and still nothing happens) "Why isn't it working?" Steven asked (gets pulled out of the way by Dedede avoiding a spray of acid from the Centipeetle Mother)
"Steven!" Garnet yelled
Garnet grabs hold of the Centipeetle Mother's pincers, drawing her attention. Steven notices the Cookie Cat freezer destroyed from the acid attack and gasps in horror.
"No... Oh, no, no, no, no, no!" (slowly) "Cookie Cat, he's a pet for your tummy. Cookie Cat, he's super duper yummy!" (picks up the freezer aggressively) "Cookie Cat, he left his family behind! COOKIE CAAAT!" (He chucks the freezer at the Centipeetle Mother's back, electrocuting her and causing her to screech in pain.) "Now available... nowhere." Steven said
"YES!" Amethyst yelled
"Gems, weapons!" Garnet said
The Gems summon their weapons and burst out of cover from the hand statue.
"Let's do it." Garnet said
The Gems charge and attack the Centipeetle Mother altogether, defeating it for good. A gem falls from it and lands on top of Dedede's head who was on the ground cowering for Garnet to grab it and bubble it away.
"Farewell, sweet Cookie Cats." (buries a Cookie Cat wrapper in the ground) "I'll always remember the time we spent together." (stomach rumbles) "Shh... Hush now." Steven said
"Are you crying?" Amethyst said
"Only a little!" Steven said
"You sure?" Dedede asked
"Well, I guess your powers don't come from ice cream." Amethyst said
"Of course they don't come from ice cream. Don't worry, Steven, I'm sure some day you'll figure out how to activate your gem." Pearl said
"Yes, in your own Steven-y way." Garnet said
"I'm okay, guys. I just-" (stomach rumbles) "Ugh, I think I ate too many Cookie Cats." Steven said
"I agree." a mysterious voice said (gets the others attention to see a mysterious green knight with a cape that covers the body.)
"Who is that guy?" Amethyst asked
"I don't know, I'm unable to see into his future. Just like Dedede's?" Garnet asked
"Hey, metal guy, who are you?" Dedede asked
"That is a question for another time, for now, I will leave you to your new adventure with that boy and those gem warriors, till next time." the mysterious knight said (walks away from the group and towards the town.)
"Yeesh, that guy just gave me the creeps." Dedede said
"Maybe he used to be a janitor of a store." Amethyst said
Dedede and the Gems start laughing, and Steven laughs anxiously in return. The star iris zooms in on Steven, as he bends over and retches, ending the episode.
