Chapter 11

Ori looked at Artemis with wide eyes. "Artemis, could you please sing us another song please?" He wouldn't admit it right out fully that he loved it when Artemis sang. It gave him hope that they would be able to return home. Taking back Erebor was on the mind of every single dwarf in the company.

Artemis had a small smile come across her lips as she looked up at Ori. "Of course I could."

"Maybe one of us returning home?" Kili said with hopefulness in his voice. His brown eyes sparkled in curiosity.

She giggled softly. "I just got the song then. Maybe it will make you all feel a bit more at home." Artemis thought for a few moments trying to get the pitch right so she wouldn't hurt her voice when she sang.

And the blood will dry

Underneath my nails

And the wind will rise up

To fill my sails

So you can doubt

And you can hate

But I know

No matter what it takes

I'm coming home

I'm coming home

Tell the world that I'm coming home

Let the rain

Wash away

All the pain of yesterday

I know my kingdom awaits

And they've forgiven my mistakes

I'm coming home

I'm coming home

Tell the world that I'm coming home

Still far away

From where I belong

But it's always darkest

Before the dawn

So you can doubt

And you can hate

But I know

No matter what it takes

I'm coming home

I'm coming home

Tell the world that I'm coming home

Let the rain wash away

All the pain of yesterday

I know my kingdom awaits

And they've forgiven my mistakes

I'm coming home

I'm coming home

Tell the world that I'm coming home

Let the rain

Wash away

All the pain of yesterday

I know my kingdom awaits

And they've forgiven my mistakes

I'm coming home

I'm coming home

Tell the world that I'm coming home.

The three younger dwarves had smiles on their faces.

Artemis blinked a few times. "Well, I hope that helps some." She said softly. She stood up. "I think I should try to rest. Won't heal without rest." She said to be careful of her leg.

Kili stood up. "I will walk you to your room."

Thorin gave him a scolding look. This young woman was putting them behind on their journey to the Lonely Mountain. Not only that he didn't like how his nephews and Orit had taken to her as well as Bofur. He knew that the rest of the company didn't know how to take her because she was the race of man.

Artemis and Kili walked slowly towards the room that the elves had given to her to rest in during their stay in Rivendell while she healed from her injuries.

Kili looked at her. "I wanted to thank you." He said softly, running his hands through his black hair.

"Oh for what?" Artemis asked in confusion. She was not used to people even saying thank you to her.

"For saving Uncle Thorin and me from that arrow."

"Oh. Well, you're welcome."

"Uncle Thorin of course wouldn't say thank you," Kili said sadly. "I don't think he even knows how." His aura around him was light blue which caused her to smile.

Artemis rubbed her head with her free hand. "He is a king to be Kili. Of course, he was going to not say thank you even though I risked my life to save him, but it's fine."

"No, it's not. He should at least thank you for the help that you have given us so far."

"Kili, he has a lot on his mind. Of course, he won't be able to say it because we are stuck here for a week for my ribs to heal. I know how much he dislikes the elves. And he of course hates me for it. But I don't know why he dislikes me so much."

"I don't think he dislikes you Artemis. I think he does not know how to take you because you put yourself in harm's way to save another. I think it is because you are a woman who willingly would go on this journey without reading the contract and saying you don't want to be paid for it."

"Gold and gems do not please me."

Kili looked at her in bewilderment. "But you wear a necklace and four rings. And you say gold and gems do not please you?"

Artemis laughed lightly. "There is more to life than riches. Plus the rings were given to me as gifts from my family. Besides, there is a world out there that is waiting to be wandered around in and new places to be discovered really." She came to a stop at her door. "Thank you for walking me to my room Kili. Have a wonderful night."

"You too Artemis." He said before placing a kiss on her knuckles. "I am sure that the lads will be happy to see you in the morning."

"I will see you in the morning." She said before going into her room. She placed her swords next to the door on the chair. She closed the door after hearing the soft click she let out a soft breath that she held. She slowly began to remove the hairstyle that was done up. She ran her fingers through her hair removing the tangles. She went to the balcony and took a deep breath of the cooling night air. She ignored the pain that she felt in her ribs when she took a deep breath. She ran her hand lightly through her hair and noticed the dwarves were below her singing and having fun.

She noticed that Thorin was looking up at her balcony. She saw the anger burning in his eyes and his aura was black meaning that he was angry. She could not help but feel upset that he was angry at her, but she had saved his life and Kili's his own nephew. He could not be angry with her for saving their lives. She simply looked away and disappeared into her room.

AJAJAJ

Thorin was smoking from his pipe angrily at the thought that they would be there longer than what he had wished.

Kili returned to the company.

"Kili, did you give your lass a kiss?" Bofur asked, making a jab at the young Prince of Under the Mountain.

Kili's face went red. "I only walked her to her room. Nothing more." He said looking down at the ground. "I also thanked her."

"Thanked her? Dear boy for what?" Dwalin questioned the young prince.

"For saving my life from that orc arrow. She risked her own life to save mine and Uncle Thorin's."

"Sh,e wouldn't have needed to do so if she had followed orders," Thorin said gruffly. "Because of her we are stuck here for a week."

"Uncle she meant no harm. She was brought to us to help. We will still need her help on our way back to Erebor."

"No we won't. We will be leaving her behind. She has brought nothing but trouble and distraction to us all. She does not belong in this company." Thorin stated to his youngest nephew. He was willing to leave her behind because she so far hadn't proven her worth to the company yet. She was so far trouble for them and he was willing to get rid of that trouble. He would not be liable to what would happen on this journey.
