Ceruledge's armor gains its distinctive blue color from being overcooked, the result of an out-of-control accident which took the life of the Charcadet who forged it – and not, as is commonly believed, from the wearer's own spiritual power. The halfway formed malice with which these pokemon regard the world of the living is the origin of the slang term 'edgy', although the associated, sarcastic phrase 'oww, the edge' could only be said in earnest after an encounter with a Ceruledge's blade.
Physicists have long established, although not always fully appreciated, that the fabric of the space-time continuum is only as strong as Palkia and Dialga are feeling on that particular day. Ceruledge's blades function by slicing through space-time itself, cutting miniature openings to the Distortion World, and these pokemon therefore bear the greatest blame for the temporal instability which characterizes the Paldea region. Ceruledge do not mind this instability; it reminds them of being alive, and they enjoy using their swords more than any other activities left to them in this world.
Ceruledge have long been feared as bandits by ordinary people, especially non-trainers, for their penchant for random decapitations, but their undeniable skill led them to often be recruited by kings in wartime. Their swordfights with one another have often been treated as a precursor to the sport of pokemon battles, and it is true that Ceruledge strive every bit as hard as pokemon trainers to become the very best. Yet it should be remembered that the one thing their blades can not cut is the link between a Ceruledge soul and body, a fact which also renders suicide (or should one say self-departure?) impossible for these often miserable ghosts; they had to invent rules to determine a winner, for no bout could ever be fatal.
