Someplace else...
"I'm bored. Wanna go do something fun?" Noivern smiled widely, hanging down from the ceiling of the cave.
"Correction- you're bored. I'm not." Lurantis said as he slashed at the training dummy, cutting its head off and making it gush out stuffing.
Noivern flew down to the ground and looked his friend in the eyes. "Come on! We'll go to that island we always wanted to explore!" He said enthusiastically.
"You mean the one you always wanted to explore?" Lurantis crossed his arms and stared into his friend's eyes. "I'm telling you; it'll be boring. It's just a small island, there's nothing to explore there."
"No, no, that's the thing! You see, if it's as small as you say, then we'll be out of there in no time!" Noivern bent down to meet his friend at eye level. "In and out, quick action, I promise."
"That's not the only reason you want to go there, is it?" Lurantis put his scythed hand on Noivern's shoulder and sighed. "Is it Lucario again?"
The Dragon-type immediately backed off and scoffed, pouting. "Even if, what about it? He was our friend! We shouldn't have left him alone there like that!"
"He always was strong. I bet he still is. There's no situation he can't get out of, trust me." The Bloom Sickle Pokemon chuckled. "Hell, I once saw him fight a Garchomp, just to protect The Oasis."
"Speaking of which..." Noivern interjected. "I bet you want to take a break from all that "leader stuff", huh? Pass it down to somebody else."
Lurantis turned around and slowly walked over to the entrance of the cave they were in. "He hates us for what we did. I'm sure he does. There's no point in going to rescue him from that island if the only thing it'll bring is pain."
"Wise words, for a prick such as yourself!" Noivern laughed and trailed behind his friend, looking down at the area under them. "If you're not going, then I am going there alone."
Below them was a vast clearing in the surrounding forest, with a few ponds scattered about and a river cutting the area in half. Everywhere bloomed red flowers, along with berry bushes growing near the waters.
In there, were both little and big Pokemon, all living in peace and either conversing with each other or fooling around together. It was a paradise on Earth. It was The Oasis.
The Grass-type turned to his friend and shook his head. "If that's what you want to do, then go for it. I cannot stop you, though I must warn you that your meeting with Lucario probably won't go well."
"So what? If he hates us, like you said, then I'll leave him be. If he doesn't and would like to come back to Akala, I'll give him a ride." The Sound Wave Pokemon smiled brightly again.
Lurantis cracked a smile and turned back to look over everything. "Do what you will. For now, let's just enjoy the view." He sat down at the edge of the cave with his feet dangling off the steep cliff.
"I suppose you're right. As stressful as this job can get, it's nice to have a little time for yourself from time to time." Noivern stretched out his wings and sat beside his friend.
"I couldn't have said it better, my friend." Lurantis smiled again and closed his eyes, zoning out and letting the warm sun soak into his skin.
