(Third person:)
Dogday felt only searing pain—a hard and sharp pain in his gut that turned and twisted. This immediately made his one eye open up, his eyes blinded by piercing white. The sound of a monitor was lightly humming and beeping as he was hooked up to two tubes that entered into his snout, pumping more air into his nose. He was mostly wrapped in bandages, his leg propped up in a cast and suspended in the air. Similarly, his left arm was tied in a tight cast that was placed on his chest. His entire right side of his face is now covered in bandages, and his sun-shaped pendent gripped tightly to his chest, which now has a large and noticeable crack that goes from one end to the other.
Dogday would try and sit up, and immediately he began to feel a sting of pain almost everywhere in his body. Now slumping back into the bed, he made a gentle gasp, his non-wrapped hand brought over to feel the side of his face. It was completely bandaged, and he couldn't feel anything. Now questions started to spark in his head. What happened, why was he so injured, and how did he get here? But just off in the corner of the room, a door began to swing open. A tall 6'3 man in a large, white coat entered the room, holding a small clipboard and tapping it with his pen.
"Mr Dogday?"
He was quiet but clear, being sure not to speak at a volume that might hurt the poor injured canine. His head turned up from looking at his clipboard to see that Dogday had awoken from his deep sleep.
"Ahh, you're awake. Good, good."
The man in the white coat began to take his strides over to the side of the bed, held onto the rails of the bed, and looked down at Dogday. He wrote something on his clipboard as he studied him.
"Vital signs are normal; you seem to be attentive and active."
Dogday immediately tried to sit up, but the doctor simply placed a hand on his chest and lightly pushed down so the poor dog could rest.
"Please, Mr. Dogday, you need to stay still; if you move too much, you could hurt yourself."
"W-wha? Where am I? Who are you?"
The doctor immediately jolted this down on his clipboard as he nodded his head and made soft clicking noises with his tongue.
"You seem to be suffering from some sort of light amnesia, probably from the head trauma. -"
"From what?"
The doctor looked up from his clipboard before setting it down beside Dogday on the bed.
"You were... hit by a car when crossing the street, someone ran a red light and hit you. You barely survived; in fact, it's even a miracle you survived at all."
The doctor's news immediately made memories start to sweep in Dogday's head. He remembered walking down a crosswalk and a car zooming past a red light, and his head turned and he looked at the speeding car that was barreling at him. Then, nothing else, he woke up here.
"But don't worry, we have been able to stabilize your injuries, and you are going to make it. Don't wor-"
The doctor was immediately interrupted by another person bursting into the room. They stood at 5'9, wearing a simple sweater while having a large moon in the middle. The purple feline wearing a pendant with a moon on it and wearing ripped jeans and boots. Immediately, they stepped forward, looking for someone.
"Is Dogday here?"
As he finished his sentence, they turned their eyes and met with Dogday's; immediately, the purple feline gasped. Both hands clasped over their mouth, and immediately tears began to form in the corner of the feline's eyes.
"Dogday..?"
Dogday couldn't help but freeze in fear. He gulped and pulled on his collar lightly as he began to give the purple cat a nervous smile.
"Heyyy Catnap."
In a flash of purple and black, the feline was at the side of Dogday's bed, kneeling over and both of his heads squishing Dogday's face while absolutely covering his face in kisses and light cat licks. Dogday began to teasingly protest to no prevail.
"Ah! Catnap, that tickles."
"I don't care; you made me worry. What were you thinking?!?"
Dogday looked down at his broken body, and his one ear that wasn't bandaged began to hang low as he made a small puppy whine.
"I'm sorry, Catnap; I didn't mean too."
Catnap kept smothering the canine in even more kisses as his hands moved over to give Dogday soft rubs and pats on his head. The doctor watched the scene with light amusement. He finished writing the rest of his clipboard before tucking it under his arm and began to take his leave.
"I'll leave you two alone, Dogday; be sure not to move too much. Your body needs to heal."
Dogday mustered a small nod, and the doctor chuckled and left the room, closing the door with a small click. Catnap now looked down at Dogday, and his eyes narrowed.
"You need to be more careful next time; what if you died? You know how much that would break me? I can't lose you."
Dogday brought a hand to Catnap's cheek, and the feline began to sniffle as a few tears started to pour from the corner of his eyes. Dogday pulled Catnap's head down to his level, kissing Catnap right on the nose.
"I'm sorry, my love. Could you ever forgive me?"
Catnap blushed and giggled giddily. He nodded his head and gave the canine another round of pats. Which Dogday happily leaned into, making a soft smile, Catnap matching his smile.
"So, Catnap, wanna take a nap with me? I'm kind of tired."
Catnap's ears perked up as Dogday used his favorite word, "nap." Immediately, the feline began to crawl up over the rail of the hospital bed, positioning himself right on Dogday's chest and hugging it snuggly. His long tail now swaying and snaked around the hospital room, till it finds a neat pile of hospital blankets and drags it over to the bed. Wrapping it both around him and his canine lover being sure to not be to tight so the canine could rest comfortably.
"Comfy, my love?"
"Yes, Catnap, thank you, my little kitty."
Catnap giggled at the pet name and cuddled up beside Dogday, kissing the side of his bandaged face.
"Mine."
Dogday giggled; he loved how possessive his little kitty could get. They had been married for a few years and still always reminded Dogday that he was Catnap's and only his.
"Hehe, I know my kitty."
The feline began to purr lightly as he nuzzled the underside of Dogday's chin, and with that his eyes closed, he began to feel the essence of sleep take him. Dogday slings his non-injured hand around Catnap and hugged him tightly. His one eye closed, and he let himself slowly begin to drift off.
