I was bored so I took the Pottermore house quiz on behalf of Demi and Everett to see their Hogwarts houses. Demi is a Gryffindor (I'd say her secondary house is Slytherin) Everett is a Pufflehuff (secondary house Gryffindor) Just thought it was interesting...
"I said, what are you doing here!" I said, stronger this time as I leapt to my feet on instinct. Her smile only widened. "Demetria is it?" She asked. I gave her a cold look. I was quite certain she had been listening in on the entire argument Bella and I had just had. "It's Demi. Now who are you?" I demanded. "I'm Victoria." Her eyes gleamed as though she expected some reaction. I stared at her blankly. "Doesn't ring a bell." "Your sister never told you about me?" "Nope." "Never?" "Nope." "Ever?" "NO!" I snapped. She sighed. "Not long ago, my mate James was after Bella. Nearly got her, but then that blasted Edward Cullen stopped him, killed him. I've wanted revenge ever since." She growled. Suddenly, she was very close to me. "You know what that's like." She whispered, her voice sickly sweet. "I know you do. I know you don't feel satisfied. You want to be happy for Bella, but you just can't. You're too angry at Edward. You're not satisfied with how things ended up, and you feel he doesn't deserve Bella." She whispered. I felt a chill all the way to my bones. Victoria was right. She was absolutely right. But how did she know? "I've been watching you ever since I learned that you existed." "Stalker much," I grumbled. "The sister to the girl I swore I'd get my revenge on. I thought you would be just another thing to stand in my way," Victoria continued, ignoring me. "But after a while, I realized you could be the very one to help me get what I want." "Wait, you want revenge on Bella?" I asked, realizing what she had said. "But I thought Edward Killed John." "James, " She corrected smoothly. "and he did, but I was thinking we would be more even this way. A mate for a mate." It made sense, but I didn't want it to, didn't want to face what she was asking me! "So let me get this straight," I said. "You're asking me to help you kill my own sister to get revenge on Edward?" "That's right." Her eyes gleamed. "How about hell no!" I snapped. "Okay so, you hate Edward too, I don't give a sh!t, I'm not gonna help you kill my sister!" In a swift, angry movement, Victoria slammed her fist into the wall. "Son of a werewolf!" She swore. "This is gonna be harder than I thought." She mused. I stared at the hole in the wall. That was gonna be hard to explain to Charlie! It was a moment before Victoria spoke again. "Look," She said calmly, putting an ice-cold hand on my shoulder. "I understand that you might be hesitant at first, but look at it this way! You're not hurting Bella, you're getting revenge on Edward! Does that help?" She asked. "No!" I shouted, jerking away from her! Danger glinted in her black eyes, warning me to keep my temper in check, but I'd never been one for knowing when to shut my mouth. "I'll never help you hurt anyone I care about, never in a million years!" I shouted. "Very well, we'll do this the hard way." Victoria fumed. "Can't have you telling anyone I was here, now can I?" And suddenly, she had me pinned against a wall, and there was no escape! "You know," She whispered. "I really hate to do this. You know, you and I, we're the same. Both underestimated, overlooked, and just looking to balance the scales. You may paint me as the bad guy in your story, but remember this: You are just like me. If you were me, you'd be doing the exact same thing." She whispered. I froze up. She was right. I was just as bad as her! I would be doing the same thing in her situation! I was every bit as evil as Victoria. These were the thoughts echoing through my mind as Victoria sunk her teeth into my neck, and I let out a shudder of pain.
The Cullen's POV:
Alice was introducing Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, and Rosalie to Everett when Edward got home. "Guys, this is Everett, Jasper and I met him when we were looking for you, and we've kind of stayed in touch ever since. Is it okay if he moves in?" She asked. "Of course, we'd be happy for you to join us," Carlisle said politely, shaking Everett's hand. "And I think he and Demi will get along great!" Alice added excitedly, winking at Jasper. "Bella's sister?" Carlisle and Esme had already been informed about all the chaos that had happened in the past month. "I liked her," Rosalie remarked. "She was fierce. Wouldn't let anyone push her around." Carlisle smiled down at his adopted daughter. It wasn't often she got along with humans. "She certainly is." Everett agreed. That, and many other things. His thoughts whispered, and Edward resisted a laugh. It wasn't much longer before Bella burst in, clearly in a mood. Edward hurried up to her, putting his arm around her. "Bella, what's wrong?" He asked gently. "I had I fight with Demi." She muttered. Everett, Emmett, and Rosalie suddenly looked interested. Jasper was just staring, an unreadable expression on his face, as usual. "What about?" Edward asked. "About-" Bella hesitated. "Well..." "What?" "It was about you." She sighed. Edward nodded, not looking surprised. "Wait, couldn't you read her mind as you were leaving?" Bella asked. "A little, but her mind is... difficult to read when she's angry. It's very bright and hot, like a fire." Edward admitted, locking eyes with Everett. "Well, what did she say?" Emmett asked curiously. "She wants me to break up with Edward." Bella sighed. Edward's jaw clenched. "She's still mad about... about the whole thing." "I don't blame her," Edward mumbled. "I don't blame her in the slightest." Bella leaned into his side. "You were doing what you thought was best." She whispered. "And I don't want to break up with you." Suddenly, Alice stiffened with a gasp! Jasper was at her side in an instant, holding her up as her body threatened to collapse. When she recovered, she jumped to her feet, staring at Everett with alarm! Edward inhaled sharply, clearly alarmed by whatever was in Alice's head. "It's Victoria!" She gasped. Everyone was alert. "Is she after Bella?" Carlisle asked sharply. "No, she has Demi." Alice gasped. Everett's eyes widened. "Demi?" Bella squeaked. "Yes and- oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!" She grabbed her head in distress. Bella started scrambling towards the door in a panic. "I have to save her! I have to do something!" She gasped. "Stop!" Edward nearly shouted, grabbing her and restraining her. "What are you doing? Demi needs us!" Bella gasped, fighting to get free! "NO! It's a trap, Bella!" She ignored him and continued to struggle pointlessly. "Damnit Bella, stop fighting and listen to me!" Edward snapped. Finally, Bella fell back in his arms, but he didn't release her. "This is exactly what she wants Bella! Victoria is trying to lour you to her using Demi, or else lour us away from you so you're unprotected!" But we can't just LEAVE her!" Bella snapped, fighting again. "Edward." Alice was suddenly by his side, touching his arm. "She's right," Alice said softly. Edward hesitated. "You can't protect her forever." Alice reminded him. "Fine!" He snapped. "But I'm coming with!" "We all are," Carlisle said firmly.
It wasn't long before they arrived at Charlie's house, Bella nearly hyperventilating the whole way. They reached Demi's (and Bella's) room and burst in. Demi was pinned up against a wall, her head turned up at an awkward angle, gasping for air with Victoria's fangs in her neck. Her brown eyes flicked to the Cullens, wide and filled with fear and pain. Hearing them come in, Victoria jerked upright, Demi falling to the ground with a gasp of pain. "What are you doing? Keep your disgusting fangs off of my sister!" Bella shouted, real anger in her voice. "It's no worse than what you did to James," Victoria growled. Being the bold, idiotic person that she was, Demi was trying to get to her feet as the venom hadn't affected her yet. Bella was about to reply when Demi suddenly started screaming, falling to the floor as the venom started to catch up to her. "Demi!" Everett yelled, about to move toward her but suddenly Victoria lunged at Bella! "Bella!" Edward gasped, jumping forward to protect her. Everything was chaos from there, everyone trying to fight off Victoria and protect Bella at the same time, Demi screaming, and everyone shouting!
Demi's POV:
I was trying to get to my feet, despite the pain in my neck, but suddenly- All I knew was suddenly I was dying, the pain was killing me and I screamed. I could hear people shouting but I didn't know what was going on! All I knew was that I wanted to be dead, would rather be dead than this awful, horrible pain that was eating away at my sanity.
Cullen's POV:
Edward was trying his hardest to hold on to a fiercely struggling Bella, desperate to reach her sister. Emmett, Carlisle, and Rosalie were fighting Victoria, Alice, and Esme were trying to calm and restrain Jasper, gone wild by Demi's blood, and Everett was trying to get to Demi, but Victoria was preventing him with her deadly attacks! It was Chaos!
Demi's POV:
It was worse than Jane's power, worse than fire engulfing me on that horrible night a little over a year ago, it was worse than anything I'd ever known existed in the world! Surely I couldn't be alive, nothing in the world could be this painful! Somewhere inside of me, I think I knew what was happening to me, but either my brain couldn't comprehend it, or wouldn't.
Cullen's POV:
Victoria had the advantage, as the Cullens had to carefully avoid hurting anyone but Victoria where she could just kick anyone out of her way. Everyone was moving too fast to tell who was who and things weren't looking good for team Vegetarian. "Carlisle!" Alice gasped, still desperately trying to hold back Jasper. "We have to get out of here! The neighbors will notice eventually, and there's no saying how long before Charlie gets back!" "You're right," He agreed. Suddenly, her head snapped up. "EDWARD, THE WINDOW!" She screamed too late as Victoria smashed through the glass. The window shattered, and Victoria was gone in an instant. Edward let a furious growl and started to follow, but then he turned back to Bella indecisively. "Stay," Carlisle said in a low voice. "Emmett and Rosalie will go after her." He said with the kind of calm only a doctor could muster. "Alice, Esme, take Jasper somewhere and calm him down." He ordered. They nodded and left. He then turned to the remaining three in the room. "And you three, help me with Demi." His face was solemn but his voice remained calm. Bella was at Demi's side in an instant, kneeling next to her. "Demi! Demi, you're going to be okay, I promise!" Bella whimpered. With desperate eyes, she turned to Carlisle. "We can stop it, right? You can suck out the venom, like Edward did to me can't you?" She asked, an edge of hysteria in her voice. Carlisle shook his head sadly. "It's too late. At this point, the amount of blood needed to be sucked out would kill her. Bella let out a sob. Not seeming to care about the blood, she wrapped her arms around Demi's neck. "Oh Demi, I'm so sorry!" She sobbed. Suddenly, Demi's brown eyes flew open. "For what." She mumbled, shuddering as the effort sent another wave of pain down her entire body. "If I hadn't gotten so mad and left you, you would b- be okay!" Bella sobbed. "You nearly sacrificed your life for me in Volterra! I had no right to be mad at you! I'm so sorry." She sobbed into her sister's neck. Demi closed her eyes again. "N- no." She choked out, shuddering at the pain once more. And even though she was in too much pain to really say it, Bella knew this was Demi's way of saying "Don't feel bad." Bella looked up at Carlisle. "I don't understand." She said suddenly. "Why would Victoria attack Demi? She doesn't even look that much like me!" "I don't know." Carlisle shook his head. Bella looked to Edward. "Could you read it in her mind?" Bella asked. Edward stayed silent. "Please tell me!" Bella begged. "It will only make you feel worse," Edward mumbled. "Edward." Carlisle put a hand on his shoulder. "She deserves to know." Edward sighed. "She originally hoped the threat of attacking Demi would be enough, she didn't really want to kill her. Instead, she tried to convince Demi to join her. Demi refused, and then Victoria threatened her." "And she wouldn't give in." Bella trembled. "She died for me." "I'd die for you any day," Demi mumbled, chocking over the words as though they were coming out edged with thorns. "We need to get out of here," Carlisle said suddenly. "What are we going to say to Charlie? He'll never be able to see Demi again." Bella realized. "We'll decide that later, but we have to get her out of here. Bella, Edward, could you go inform the werewolves of our situation?" He said. "N- no," Demi whispered as Bella stood up obediently. Bella looked down hesitantly, but Carlisle's voice was firm. "Go. I'll take care of her." And so they did. Demi had started making pained noises again, without Bella there to calm her down. Her breathing was quick and shallow, and every inch of her body indicated distress and pain. That was when Everett realized she probably didn't know what was going on, just that Bella had been there, and then she left. He helped Carlisle to lift Demi and carry her to the silver Volvo.
Demi let out a small whimper as the car started up. "Shh," Everett whispered gently. "It's okay." He murmured. "Everett?" She whispered. "I'm here," he said gently. She leaned into him, as though he were the only thing to hold onto in a sea of wild rapids. Carefully, Everett shifted her head into his lap, and Demi twitched slightly. "Everett..." She whispered again. "She said- she said I'm like her," Demi whispered, another violent shudder going through her like it did every time she spoke. "She said that I'm like her-" She cut off with a whimper of pain. "That I'd be doing the same thing in her situation," Demi continued, her voice raspy and pained. "Don't listen to her," Everett whispered gently. "But she's right," Demi mumbled. "I would be. Which makes me just as bad as her..." Demi trailed off. Everett's fist clenched. "Demitria Swan," He started. "Demi," She corrected softly. "Demi Swan," He said. "You are the most selfless person I know. You just died for your sister for goodness sake! Victoria is a monster, she's cruel and angry and won't hesitate to hurt someone just because somebody else will care. You are beautiful and sweet, and you would do anything for the people you love, no matter how angry you are!" He said fiercely. looking up, he realized Carlisle was watching them in the rearview mirror. Everett looked back down at Demi, her makeup running all over her face, her muscles contorted in pain, her figure, so flawed compared to his own, and saw a kind of beauty he wasn't used to. It wasn't effortless, it wasn't model-like, it wasn't fake, and it wasn't in the slightest flawless. Like fire. He thought. He would miss that about her, once she was a vampire. AN: That was so cringe XD
When they reached the Cullen's house, Everett picked her up gently and carried her inside. Once inside, he set her down on the couch. "Is there anything you can do for her? To dull the pain or anything?" Everett asked. Carlisle shook his head. "Nothing's strong enough." Just then, there was a knock on the door. "That must be the wolves." Everett stiffened as Carlisle went to the door. "I see you heard about our... situation," Carlisle stated as Edward and Bella walked in, followed by the pack. "Where is the girl?" Sam asked in a no-nonsense voice. "She's in here," Carlisle led them to where Demi lay, Everett's hand gripping her own tightly as he sat on the arm of the couch. Bella hurried to her side, feeling on the floor beside the couch. "Your back." Demi breathed. "Of course I am! You didn't think I was leaving forever did you?" Sam stormed over, followed by the rest of the pack. He inspected Demi with cold eyes. Maybe she would have been fine, once, but now she was just another vampire in his eyes. Everett couldn't help but think how messed up that was. Just an hour ago, he'd have been fine with Demi, maybe even friendly if he knew she was Bella's sister, but now that she had been bitten, suddenly she wasn't deserving of respect. "So, this is the soon-to-be vampire," Sam growled. Bella cleared her throat. "She is my sister." Bella corrected. "Who are they?" Demi mumbled. "I've never seen someone so willing to talk during the transformation." Carlisle mussed. "And you're sure it wasn't one of you who did this and you're just trying to blame it on some other vampire?" Sam asked sharply, ignoring Carlisle. "Idiot, If one of us had bitten her, our eyes would be red not gold!" Edward snapped. Carlisle shot his son a warning look. "He is correct," Carlisle confirmed more politely. "About the idiot part," Everett muttered. Edward snorted, giving Everett an amused glance. "Who is he anyway?" Jacob asked suddenly, stepping forward and glaring at Everett with a piercing stare. "Oh. You again." Demi muttered with as much irritation as someone in that kind of pain could muster. This time, Edward full-on started laughing, ignoring the look Bella shot him and Demi. Demi ignored it too and continued, stuttering through the sentence. "Great job looking after Bella, espec- ially the part where you l- let her jump off a cliff. Really- appreciate that." Now Embery and Quil were laughing too. Jacob grew red, clenching his fists, and looked like he was about to say something when Sam cut him off. "What are we going to do with her?" He asked. "What do you mean what are we going to do with her?!" Bella asked indignantly. "A newborn vampire is too much of a danger to have around Forks." He explained. "Well, we can't just get rid of her!" Bella snapped. "Can't we?" Paul muttered. "No!" Bella snapped, glaring at him. "Besides, the truce! You have to leave her alone!" Sam's eyes gleamed. "The truce doesn't include her. She was never part of it." Sam realized. The color drained from Bella's face. "You can't just- she- but- you can't!" Bella sputtered. "What if she agrees to follow your rules?" Carlisle suggested. "Newborns are too unpredictable. There's no saying what she might do to us, or anyone else. I still don't like it." "Deal with it." Demi huffed. "You see what I mean?" Sam gave Carlisle a pointed look. Carlisle sighed. "I guess I understand your concerns, but I do believe you should give her a chance," Carlisle said. Just then, Demi let out a sharp cry of pain, making Bella flinch. "Maybe we should discuss this somewhere else," Carlisle suggested. Sam sighed. "No need," He muttered. "We'll give her a chance."
This chapter was so hard to write! I love Demi and killing her off was so hard, even if she isn't really dead. Other than that, I have to say I am quite proud of this chapter! I think it might be my best one so far! Anyways, it may seem like this story is wrapping up, but I promise you it is not. There is a- well, you'll just have to wait and see ;)
