Recovery Girl's Temporary Nurse's Office
"Say, ah, Sunny." Recovery Girl ordered. Ami stared at her and complied, opening her mouth big and wide.
"Ahhhhhhhh." Ami said, giving Recovery Girl a view of her mouth. Recovery Girl activated her flashlight and peeked inside. She examined her flesh for signs of burn damage and saw no visible signs of damage, bringing her some bit of relief. However, just as she was feeling content, a spark of plasma pinched Ami's lips.
"Ah-ow." Ami winced, keeping her mouth wide open. Recovery Girl leaned back and narrowed her eyes at the spark.
"Hmm." Recovery Girl said, putting a hand on her chin. Ami looked at the serious expression on Recovery Girl's face and raised her eyebrow in concern.
"Um. Am I okay?" Ami asked, hoping for a positive answer.
"Yes, sweetie. You're fine." Recovery Girl nodded, confusing Ami. Recovery Girl turned around and grabbed a cup from the sink. She turned on the faucet and filled the cup up with water. Ami watched her turn around with an incredulous look on her face.
"But, the plasma-
"Will go away once you drink some water." Recovery Girl explained, handing Ami the cup of water. Recovery Girl smiled and turned off the faucet while Ami stared at the cup with an unsure look.
"Really?" Ami asked, showing her skepticism.
"Mhmm." Recovery Girl hummed, smiling with certainty. Ami looked down at the cup and firmly grasped it. She shrugged and drank the water, clearing her throat of leftover plasma. She drank all of the water in the cup and swallowed, feeling a lot better than before. She cleared her throat and cracked a tiny smile.
"Hey. I do feel a whole lot better." Ami admitted, no longer tasting plasma in her mouth. Recovery Girl smiled and nodded in satisfaction.
"That's good to hear." Recovery Girl grinned. Ami rubbed her stomach and expected to still feel some plasma inside her, remembering how long the plasma lasted inside her last time. She narrowed her eyes and reared her head back in confusion upon realizing the lack of pain in her stomach.
"Wait. There's no pain." Ami said out loud, looking astonished and relieved.
"Last time I did this it still felt like there was plasma in my stomach, but I don't feel anything." She smiled, her mood brightening up. Recovery Girl nodded her head in acknowledgement.
"That's a good sign. It means your body is already adjusting to the plasma." Recovery Girl explained, surprising Ami.
"Wait? Really?" Ami questioned, baffled by the nurse's explanation.
"Mhm. Back at the Fire Zone, you inhaled all those flames instantly. When you tried to extinguish it, your body couldn't handle all that plasma. But because you absorbed Aoyama's laser at a more gradual rate, your body was able to catch up and adjust to the new power. That's why you were able to swallow all the plasma this time." She clarified, giving Ami time to process the new information.
"Thanks to you training your body to handle flames better, you've also been building up a tolerance to even more extreme temperatures." She finished explaining. Ami nodded her head in understanding.
"Alright. But what about the water?" Ami asked, wanting more info.
"Like I said, dear, you're adjusting to handle plasma better. However, the water inside your body is not efficient enough to extinguish the plasma entirely." She answered, getting Ami to raise her eyebrow.
"Your body knows how to efficiently use your liquids when consuming more and more average flames. However, absorbing Aoyama's laser, being composed of mostly plasma, allowed your power to increase in strength at a rapid pace. Because of that, you barely outpaced your body's liquid adjustment, meaning you were losing more water than your quirk needed to extinguish the plasma entirely." She clarified, getting a slow nod from Ami in understanding.
"The plasma is still too much for just your body's liquids to handle by itself. Luckily for you, you managed to extinguish all that new energy. For now, getting rid of plasma entirely in your body requires a nice cold drink of water." Recovery Girl nodded, finishing her explanation.
"So eating more plasma will increase my tolerance. And increasing my tolerance makes me more fuel efficient." Ami repeated, summarizing Recovery Girl's explanation. Recovery Girl nodded while Ami smiled in understanding.
"Mhmm. Maybe someday, your tolerance will build up so much that your body will be able to fully extinguish the plasma without outside water sources. But I wouldn't worry about that now. I have to finish healing the two of you." Recovery Girl said, directing her attention to the other student in the Nurse's Office.
"That's a relief." Aoyama said, hugging his stomach with a tight grip. He was on his side on the operating table, squirming around in discomfort. Ami looked at Aoyama's condition and felt terrible. She felt she was to blame for how Aoyama felt at the moment.
"As for you. How are you holding up, dear?" She asked, putting a hand on Aoyama's shoulder.
"My stomach hurts." Aoyama strained, stuttering a bit. Recovery Girl frowned and felt sympathy for the poor teen.
"Ooo, you poor thing. Have a peppermint." Recovery Girl said, shoving a peppermint into Aoyama's mouth. Aoyama was taken aback by the sudden intrusion and slowly sucked away on the peppermint in his mouth, accepting her sudden gift.
"Merci." Aoyama thanked her, ignoring the pain in his stomach. Recovery Girl nodded and accepted his thanks.
"Now, you two sit still while I use my quirk." Recovery Girl said, pulling Aoyama's closer to her with the hand on his shoulder.
"Mwah." Recovery Girl said, kissing the side of Aoyama's face.
"Merci, again." Aoyama said, feeling relief go through him. In a few short seconds, the pain he felt in his stomach vanished. He felt a little tired by the kiss but composed himself enough to sit up on the table, dangling his legs off the edge. Recovery Girl turned back around and approached Ami, causing her to frown.
"And you, too, dear. Mwah." Recovery Girl said, kissing the top of Ami's forehead. Ami felt the kiss on her forehead and felt a soothing sensation enter her body. Within seconds her visible injuries from landing on the battlefield cement healed up. The pain in her body disappeared, bringing her a huge sense of relief. She looked up at the mirror and frowned a little in slight disgust.
In the mirror's reflection, the spot where Recovery Girl had kissed her was clearly visible thanks to the red lipstick on her lips. She hid her disgust and rubbed her forehead, wiping the lipstick off her forehead. She appreciated getting healed but she didn't want to have to explain the lipstick.
"There. Now the two of you are all healed up and ready to go." Recovery Girl smiled warmly in satisfaction.
"Thanks, Recovery Girl." Ami and Aoyama said. Ami smiled and glanced at Aoyama, noticing the lack of a belt on his stomach. She frowned a bit and coughed, getting his attention.
"Sorry about ruining your belt. Again." She apologized. Aoyama looked at her and shook his head in dismissal.
"You don't have to apologize twice, Mademoiselle." Aoyama said, dismissing Ami's apology.
"Yeah, but…" Ami said, hiding her embarrassment, "If I hadn't ruined your belt, you wouldn't have gotten embarrassed on live tv." Ami frowned, reminding Aoyama of the incident with his underwear. He frowned a bit and shook his head, getting back into the theatrical spirit.
Uh. Uh. Uh. No more thinking negatively, Mademoiselle. You have another match to prepare for now." Aoyama grinned lightly, waving his index finger at her. Ami stared at him and flared her nostrils, giggling a bit.
"Yeah. You're right." Ami smiled, pulling her hair back.
"Speaking of belts." Recovery Girl said, opening a drawer. Ami and Aoyama looked at Recovery Girl and watched her pull out a second version of Aoyama's belt, surprising the blonde.
"I figured you'd lose your belt during the Sports Festival so, just in case, I brought an extra one with me." Recovery Girl said, showing off Aoyama's replacement belt in her hands. Ami watched as Aoyama's face lit up in happiness and joy, bringing a warm smile to her face.
"Oui. Merci beaucoup, Recovery Girl." Aoyama thanked the Nurse. Recovery Girl handed him the belt, which he happily took off her hands. He spent no time lollygagging and put on his belt in excitement. He clipped the belt on and stood up off the table with a confident smirk. He struck a pose and continued smirking, feeling his pants stay on him.
"See my magnificent belt, Mademoiselle?" Aoyama asked, twirling around and facing Ami. He struck another pose and smiled victoriously.
"You have nothing to worry about now." Aoyama smirked, raising his hands in the air. Ami laughed at Aoyama's antics and stood up.
"I guess so." She smiled, holding in her laughter. After a minute passed, Ami stood up from her seat and stretched. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling her strength return.
"I should probably head out now. I have to get ready for my fight with Mina." She said, heading towards the exit. She stopped at the door and turned her head around, smiling in appreciation at Recovery Girl.
"Thanks for everything, Recovery Girl." Ami thanked, receiving a nod from the retired hero. She glanced at Aoyama and waved goodbye at him, which he returned with his own wave. She exited the Nurse's office and clenched her fists. She took a deep breath and walked around the stadium interiors. After a minute passed, she reached the hallway that led to the exit tunnel where she'd be entering the battlefield.
"Mademoiselle." Aoyama blurted out, appearing right beside Ami. Ami jumped a bit upon seeing Aoyama pop into existence in her peripheral vision. She flinched and turned around with eyes wide. Aoyama didn't seem to notice the surprised reaction from Ami.
"How'd you follow me so fast? She questioned, wondering how he reached her without making a sound. Her question was met with a playful smirk followed by a chuckle.
"Hm. Hm. It's a secret." He smirked, putting a finger on his lips. He put his hand down and closed his eyes, bowing respectfully at her.
"Thank you. For listening to what I had to say at the end of our match. I'm grateful that you forgave me so quickly." He thanked, raising his head up from his bowing position.
"To show my thanks, I thought it prudent to tell you what I know about Mina Ashido." Aoyama generously offered. Ami listened to what he said and smiled nervously at the offer.
"Oh, thanks. But, you don't have to do that." Ami said, nervously.
"I know I don't have to, but, I am." He insisted, winking at her. Ami noticed he was using her words against her and smiled. She flared her nostrils in amusement and nodded, shrugging her shoulders in surrender.
"Alright, Aoyama. What do you know?" She asked, folding her arms together.
"Well, her quirk lets her spray acid anywhere on her body." He explained, wiggling his fingers to mimic shooting acid.
"I knew that much." Ami nodded.
"Oui, but do you know how strong her acid is?" He questioned, raising his eyebrow.
"Uhhh-" Ami said, stumped. Aoyama nodded his head, expecting that answer.
"Mhm. The truth is, it varies! She can control how strong her acid is. It could melt through the floor, for example, or, it could sting your skin a little." He explained, impressing Ami.
"Wow. That's useful." She complimented, admiring Mina's acid control.
"Oui. I found that out during combat training a couple weeks ago." He nodded, agreeing with her. Ami heard his words and raised her eyes in remembrance.
"Oh yeah. You guys were teammates, weren't you?" She asked, raising her hand up.
"Uh huh." Aoyama nodded, quickly turning his smile into a frown, "She burned my beautiful cape, too." He frowned, sniffling a bit. A lone tear dropped from his eyes, quickly getting captured by his finger.
"Oh well. C'est la vie. Anyways. She's good with her quirk at close quarters. But she struggles to spray her acid at a long distance. She'll have to get close to you to do any damage. My advice? Keep as far away from her as possible." He warned, receiving a nod from Ami. Ami could see the importance in Aoyama's warning. From what she knew about the pink skinned girl, she was cheery and very happy. Compared to the rest of the girls during their impromptu cheering routine, Mina had the most energy out of the bunch. She shook off her thoughts and continued listening to Aoyama.
"She's very athletic, too. You remember the fitness tests? She beat me in the relay by sliding on the ground with her acid. No doubt she'll try that again here. You'll have to work fast to stop her from reaching you in seconds. If you can stop her from getting too close, then you'll have a chance to win." Aoyama finished, raising Ami a thumbs up and a flick of his hair.
"Alright. I get it. Don't let her get close. I can do that. Thanks, Aoyama. I owe you for this." Ami thanked, appreciating Aoyama's help. Her sincerity made him smile. He shook his head, however, in response to her last words.
"Nonsense. Vous ne me devez rien, mademoiselle. This is my way of thanks for everything you said to me. Free of charge." Aoyama said, shrugging his shoulders and spreading his arms out wide. Ami didn't understand the French but she heard the rest and made a guess. She smiled and nodded at him, feeling her chances against Mina increase.
"It's time for me to head back now. I'm sure our classmates missed seeing my sparkle. I'll be in the stands supporting you like everyone else. I bid you adieu, Mademoiselle." He winked, walking backwards down the hall, keeping his eyes on Ami as he wandered off. Ami watched him leave in amusement.
"Right. Thanks, Aoyama. I'll see you later!" Ami shouted. Aoyama bowed gracefully while walking backwards.
"Yup! I'll be watching!" Aoyama exclaimed, echoing down the hall. Ami watched him disappear from view and smiled. She folded her arms and nodded to herself.
"Okay. Let's do this." Ami thought, raising her fists up to her chest. She smiled in determination, pumping herself up.
"Keep her as far away from you as possible. I can do that. Easy." Ami said to herself, repeating Aoyama's advice in her head. From around the corner, Aoyama listened into Ami and slowly nodded his head.
"Good luck, Ami." Aoyama thought, clenching his fists. He nodded his head and continued walking, quickly finding his way back to the student stands. He greeted his classmates with more confidence in his smile than when he left. Todoroki noticed his mood and raised his eyebrow in confusion at his behavior. A few minutes later the pyrotechnics went off around the ring, creating excitement in the audience.
"And we're back for another exciting match! Walking in from this side of the ring it's our pre-match winner, Ami Midoriya from the Hero Course!" Present Mic announced, getting massive applause from the excited audience.
Ami exited the tunnel with hands clenched, keeping a solemn stare as she entered the battlefield. She heard the screams and roars from the excited audience but remained steadfast, destroying any nervousness left in her. Entering the ring she took a deep breath and looked up at the audience, replacing her solemn expression with a smile. She stared across the battlefield watching Mina enter the ring with a pep in her step. She could tell Mina was having fun being here. She entered the ring and put her arms behind her head, stretching them out.
"Versus! Is there some kinda purpose for those things sticking out of her head?" Present Mic asked, getting off topic.
"From the same class, Mina Ashido!" Present Mic introduced, leading the audience into another round of applause. Mina heard the cheers from the audience and snickered.
Up in the student stands, classmates cheered them both on. They were excited to see what would happen in the match. One student in particular was too excited for this match, bleeding profusely from the nose.
"Ami and Mina are fighting each other. C'mon, girls. One wrong move with your fire or acid and the clothes will come right off." Mineta thought, grinning wide with a heavy blush.
"Show no mercy, Ami. Burn her clothes right off!" Mineta shouted, throwing his fist in the air.
"You pervert." Jiro insulted, glaring at Mineta in disgust. Tsu sat beside Mineta and shook her head lightly. She glanced towards Shoji and got his attention.
"Hey, Shoji. Say something does happen?" Tsu implied, getting a nod from Shoji in understanding.
"I'll make sure he sees nothing." Shoji replied, nodding at Tsu.
"That's a relief. Ribbit." Tsu said.
"Hey, what are you guys talking about?" Mineta asked. Tsu and Shoji immediately returned their attention to the battlefield, pretending not to hear Mineta. In the middle of the bottom row, Izuku stared at Ami on the battlefield with a hopeful smile.
"Ami versus Mina. You got this, Sis." He nodded, muttering to himself. Iida heard Izuku muttering and glanced at him.
"Worried about your sister?" He questioned, getting Izuku's attention. Izuku looked at Iida incredulously before shaking his head in denial.
"Hm? No. Not really. I have faith in her. But I am worried a bit." Izuku admitted. He had complete faith that Ami could pull off a victory against Mina but that analytical side of him caused him to get anxious. He hoped Ami wouldn't underestimate Mina. Iida stared at Izuku and noticed he was lightly tapping his foot in nervous anticipation, clueing him in on his feelings.
"I see. How do you think this one'll end?" Iida asked, nodding his head. He adjusted his glasses and stared at Mina with a hand on his chin.
"I'm sure Ami's got a plan already but it won't be easy. Mina's faster than her thanks to her quirk. Plus she's more athletic. If she uses her flamethrower carefully, Ami can keep her away. But it'll all depend on whether or not Ashido can dodge Ami's flames and get close. There isn't any cover for Mina to use so she's at a slight disadvantage." Izuku analysed.
"Hm." Iida hummed, nodding at Izuku's analysis.
"It's okay, Deku. I'm sure Ami's got this." Ochaco said, giving him words of encouragement. She smiled at Izuku and squeezed her cup of tea even harder, hiding her own anxiety.
"Right." Izuku smiled, obliviously nodding at Ochaco. He looked at Ami on the battlefield and smiled.
"You can do it, Ami." Izuku said. Mina exchanged eye contact with Ami and finished stretching her arms. She smiled big and wide and waved at Ami enthusiastically.
"Hey, Ami." Mina waved.
"Hey, Mina." Ami waved back.
"I watched your fight with Aoyama in the waiting room. That blue flamethrower move you did was, like, super cool!" Mina stated, spreading her arms out wide. Ami giggled a bit and composed herself.
"Heh. Thanks. It sure didn't feel cool." Ami admitted, tugging at her gym uniform's collar.
"Hey, don't take this personally or anything, but you're not gonna light my clothes on fire, right?" Mina asked, surprising Ami for just a second.
"Huh? No. Don't plan on it." Ami said, thinking to herself.
"I understand why she's asking after seeing what happened with Aoyama. Her gym uniform isn't fireproof." Ami thought.
"Wait a minute? My gym uniform isn't acid proof either." Ami realized, not wanting to imagine that nightmare scenario. She shrugged and looked at Mina solemnly.
"How about you? You're not gonna melt my clothes off, are you?" Ami questioned, getting a quick response from Mina.
"Nuh uh. No way. I don't want this fight to end with one of us walking out with less clothes on. Especially with, "you know who," watching up there." She said, making air quotes with her hands. Ami knew exactly who she was referring to and frowned.
"Right. Mineta." She replied.
"Alright, challengers. You ready? Begin!" Present Mic shouted, sending the audience into an uproar.
"I guess we'll have to be careful then, huh?" Ami shouted over the audience. Mina heard her and nodded, clenching her fists.
"Totally. Let's do it! May the best girl win, Ami!" Mina exclaimed, flashing the peace sign at her. With their last words spoken, Ami immediately jumped into action. She activated her quirk and felt a light hum in her body as the flames entered her throat. Her neck glowed orange as the flames entered her mouth, causing Ami to notice something different.
"My regular flames feel less hot than usual. Is it because they're getting weaker or is my tolerance getting better?" She wondered, putting aside that thought for now.
"Going off what she said, she's probably expecting a repeat of my last match with Aoyama. I'll try to use my flamethrower on her and she'll try to dodge and get over to me. Well, Ashido, I'm more than a flamethrower." Ami thought, grinning. Smoke flew out between her teeth as she opened her lips and flashed her teeth. The idea popped in her head as soon as she entered the battlefield. Measuring the length of the ring in her head, her flamethrower was just shy of reaching Mina on the other side. But she didn't need to reach Mina. In fact, she didn't need to touch her at all.
Mina saw the smoke coming out of her mouth and narrowed her eyes, smiling in anticipation. Now all she needed was to wait for the flamethrower and she'd be uppercutting Ami's face in an instant. She watched as Ami opened her mouth and unleashed her flamethrower, bringing a smile to her face.
"There it is!" Mina thought, now she could start running and dodging. At least until she noticed something wasn't right.
"Wait…" She thought, her smile faltering in response.
Ami fired off her flamethrower and pointed it on the ground in front of Mina. The flames hit the cement in front of her in seconds, cracking the cement and sending tiny rocks flying into the air. Mina braced herself and shielded her head from the rocks, getting distracted. Ami narrowed her eyes and turned her head left and right, leaving a trail of fire behind. In seconds, Mina's shot at running after Ami was dashed. Her side of the ring was covered in flames, sending her into shock. Mina gasped at the wall of flames and narrowed her eyes at Ami.
"Heh. She blocked her movements by lighting the ground on fire. It's a strategy that flame users use to stop runners." Wyvern grinned, keeping his stoic expression.
"Water users as well." Backdraft nodded in agreement.
Ami stopped breathing fire and relaxed, watching Mina stare at the flames. She smiled triumphantly at her plan. Now there was no way for Mina to get to her without risking burns.
"Heh. You blocked me from reaching you. Smart. But how are you gonna reach me without lighting your clothes on fire?" Mina asked, pointing at Ami through the flames. Ami stared at her and laughed.
"I don't need to reach you. I just need to force you out of bounds." Ami said, getting Mina to look concerned. Ami walked towards Mina with a determined face. She stopped just a foot away from the flaming cement that separated them and smiled.
"Alright. Thanks, Aoyama. This match is as good as over." Ami thought, swirling the flames around in her mouth. She twirled the flame around and collected the flames into a ball. Grinning wide, she spit out a fireball at Mina. The fireball shot above the burning cement, reaching Mina in seconds. Mina saw the fireball and quickly dodged the flames. She stood back up and stared at the ground where she once stood. That area was now covered in flames, leaving her just a sliver of the ring left with the border inches behind her.
She had to hand it to Ami. This was a smart idea. She cracked a smile and stared at Ami through the flames.
"Nice one, Ami. I didn't expect you to do this." Mina complimented, getting a nod from Ami in appreciation.
"Thanks. Wanna walk out the border now?" She asked, crossing her arms. Mina smirked and shook her head, sticking her tongue out.
"Hehe. Nope. I'm not losing that easily." Mina said.
"Oh?" Ami questioned, staring at the defiant smirk on Mina's face. Her smile faltered at the smirk, sensing danger. Ami took a step back in caution and swirled around the flames in her mouth. Once she collected it all into a ball, she was about to fire at the ground below Mina until she did something unexpected.
"Acid sprinkler!" Mina said, announcing her move. She twirled around like a ballerina and activated her quirk, sending acid flying all around her. Ami watched slack jawed as Mina's acid flew everywhere, melting the flames on the burning cement. The cement sizzled and smoked in response to the acid meeting the flames. Ami's classmates watched in shock as Mina's body vanished in the smoke created by the acid and the flames. Bakugo raised his eyebrow at the move.
"Get back, Habanero." He thought, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth. Bakugo knew exactly what Raccoon Eyes was doing.
Ami looked at the smoke and stepped back, frowning at her plan's failure. She kept her guard up and darted her eyes at every angle of the smoke, waiting for Mina to appear.
"Ah." Ami gasped, feeling a stinging sensation strike her waist line. She looked down and saw her gym uniform sizzling. A tiny amount of acid had struck her shirt. The acid melted through her uniform with ease, leaving a sliver of her stomach exposed. She winced in pain at the feeling of the acid. It wasn't strong enough to melt her skin, just irritate it enough to make her wince. She heard shuffling inside the smoke and raised her head up, seeing Mina jump out at her with her fists raised. Ami reacted in time and jumped back, landing gracefully and dodging her advance.
"Nice dodge." Mina smiled, staring at Ami. Ami stared at Mina with a look of hurt and betrayal. She rubbed her stomach through the sliver of her shirt and frowned.
"Hey. What happened to not melting my clothes?"
"Sorry. I meant to use the smoke against you and try to uppercut you. But I accidentally overshot my acid."
"So, it was an accident?"
"Yup. But, hey, don't worry. I'll make my acid just strong enough to turn that uniform into a crop top." Mina said, threatening Ami with her worst nightmare. The cheerleader outfit was enough of a nightmare to wear already. Ami gasped at the thought of sporting a crop top in front of everyone again and panicked, firing off flames at her feet. Mina jumped back at the flames and watched Ami fly up in the air using her flames as a rocket boost. It reminded her of what Ami and Izuku did to cross the canyon in the obstacle race. Once Ami was back on the other side of the ring, she ceased firing and dropped to the ground, landing on her feet with a glare in her eyes.
"Woah." Jiro said, surprised by the offensive attack from Mina.
"That was close." Tsu commented.
"Catfights are freaking intense." Mineta stated, getting a few side glares.
"Hey! No, fair." Mina complained, shouting at Ami from far away.
"You threatened my midriff!" Ami shouted back, getting a laugh out of Mina.
"C'mon, I wasn't gonna make it that strong." Mina smiled, rolling her eyes at Ami. Ami narrowed her eyes at Mina, focusing on her movements.
"I've gotta think of something else. Another way to get her out of the ring. If I try to surround her in flames again, she'll just do that Acid Sprinkler move again and I'll be back at square one or worse." Ami feared.
"Think, Ami. Think. What did Aoyama say to you before?" Ami thought, remembering Aoyama's advice.
"My advice? Keep as far away from her as possible. You'll have to work fast to stop her from reaching you in seconds. If you can stop her from getting too close, then you'll have a chance to win." Aoyama warned, his voice repeated through her head.
"Stop her from reaching you. Reaching you." Ami repeated, coming up with an idea.
"That's it!" She thought. She glanced at the side of the ring through her peripheral vision and saw the edge of the ring. The border had to be a few feet behind her on her side. Ami smiled visibly, getting Mina's attention. She saw the smile on Ami's face and smiled back, tensing her body up.
"Alright. Let's see you try to dodge this." Ami exclaimed, activating her quirk. Flames shot up into her mouth in an instant, producing a red glow in her neck. Mina saw the glow and clenched her fists in preparation. Ami breathed through her nose and opened wide, unleashing her flamethrower once again. Mina saw the incoming flamethrower and grinned. She activated her quirk on her feet and jumped out of the way. She dodged the flames and felt the heat as it shot past her, causing her to snicker.
"That's what I've been waiting for." Mina said, running towards Ami with her acid acting as a slide. She ran like a figure skater towards Ami and reached her in seconds. Ami raised her eyes at Mina's speed and gasped, quickly deactivating her quirk. Mina smiled big and wide and raised her fist towards Ami.
"I've got you!" Mina shouted, victoriously. Ami saw the incoming fist and grabbed it with both her hands. She pushed Mina's fist to the right, narrowly avoiding contact with her face by mere inches. Ami sidestepped and shoved her out of the way, making sure Mina was directly behind her. Mina was caught by surprise from the shove and stumbled a bit, landing on the cement with ease. She looked ahead and saw she was several feet away from the border. Nowhere near it. If Ami was trying to shove her out of the ring on her side then she failed miserably.
"Huh?" She questioned, turning her head back in confusion. She stared at Ami from behind and saw she had her back towards her. She saw Ami raise her hand up and noticed the peace sign on her hand. Getting distracted by the sign, Ami unleashed her flamethrower, pushing her body backwards from the strength of her blast. Mina saw Ami's entire body flying towards her and gasped, unable to react in time. Ami's body smacked straight into Mina, pushing her back along with her. Mina closed her eyes and gritted her teeth, holding onto Ami in a panic.
After a few seconds, Mina felt her body no longer being pushed. She opened her eyes and realized her predicament. She was laying on the ground, outside of the ring. She was still holding onto Ami, who was also sitting on the ground inside of the ring. The border line was on the ground just between their bodies.
"Mina has been pushed out of bounds. Ami Midoriya wins!" Midnight announced, igniting the audience into a frenzy. The audience roared at the announcement, clapping and shouting in excitement over the results.
"She did it." Iida clapped.
"Yes! Go, Ami. I knew you could do it!" Izuku exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and pointing at Ami in excitement. Ochaco smiled at the excitement oozing off of Izuku and clapped for Ami's victory.
"Well, I wasn't expecting our fight to turn out this way, but great job, Ami." Mina laughed, squeezing Ami.
"Thanks- but, you're squeezing too tightly." Ami stuttered, deactivating her quirk despite Mina's constricting hug. The pathway between her mouth and her flame organ was slightly blocked by Mina's tight grip, upsetting her stomach.
"Oh. Sorry." Mina apologized, quickly letting go of Ami. As soon as Mina let go of Ami, she immediately tipped over. Bakugo stared at Habanero and Raccoon Eyes and noticed Habanero's reaction to getting squeezed with her quirk still activated and narrowed his eyes.
Twenty Minutes Later
Ami and Mina returned to the student stands with their injuries healed. As soon as the pair made their way to the stands, they were immediately greeted by their classmates who welcomed them with open arms. Except for Bakugo, who remained in his seat.
"Ami!" Izuku exclaimed, rushing up towards Ami with a happy smile. Ami saw Izuku coming up the stairs to her and braced herself for another hug. Sure enough, Izuku reached the top and immediately pulled Ami into another tight hug. Izuku's grip on her was strong, feeling the air escape her lungs again. Ami's eyes bulged for a second before she calmed down and endured the tight hug.
"Hey, Izuku." Ami said through her smile, returning the hug and patting Izuku on the back.
"You were really cool." Izuku said, finally letting go of Ami. Ami nodded at him and caught her breath. Before she could respond, Mina placed her hands on Ami's shoulders and peered over her head, speaking up.
"Yeah, she really got me, huh, Deku?" Mina asked. Izuku nodded obliviously.
"Yeah-" He stuttered, quickly stopping himself from saying more with a gasp. His eyes shrunk upon realizing who was asking.
"I-I'm so sorry. I mean...uh, you did your best, too, Mina..." Izuku stuttered, getting a laugh out of the pink skinned girl. She let go of Ami and stood beside her, getting an amused smile from Ami.
"I'm just messing around with you. Even if I lost my first match, I had a great time." Mina smiled, putting a hand on the back of her head. Mina glanced at Ami and smiled, nodding her head.
"Thanks for the fight, Ami. Oh, and sorry about the shirt." Mina said, getting a nonchalant shrug from Ami.
"It's alright." Ami shrugged, accepting Mina's apology, "Recovery Girl gave me another shirt anyway." She said, tugging her uniform. The ripped gym shirt was in Recovery Girl's garbage bin. Mina smiled at that.
"That's good. Well, good luck with your next fight. See ya!" Mina said, walking down the steps with a smile.
"Thanks. See ya, Mina." Ami smiled, waving goodbye. She watched her head to her seat and looked for another student in the stands. Strangely enough, she couldn't see him sitting anywhere.
"Well done, Mademoiselle." Aoyama said, standing behind Ami. Ami heard the voice and jumped, quickly catching herself by latching on to Izuku's arm.
"Huh?" Izuku questioned, jumping as well. He glanced at Ami in alarm and looked up where she once stood, seeing Aoyama smiling down at them. Ami turned her head back and let go of Izuku when she realized it was Aoyama.
"What the- Aoyama?" Ami said, surprised.
"Mhm. C'est moi!" Aoyama greeted, raising his hands up high and bowing.
"how'd you get there?" Ami questioned, wondering how Aoyama reached them without making a sound. Aoyama smiled and struck a pose in response.
"My sparkle works in mysterious ways." Aoyama replied, getting blank stares. Ami grinned and rolled her eyes, ignoring his answer.
"Doesn't matter. Thanks for your help earlier." Ami said, thanking him. Aoyama nodded and folded his arms.
"Pas de problème, Mademoiselle." He replied. Izuku heard what Ami said and got confused, wondering what she was thanking him for.
"Your help? What do you mean?" Izuku asked.
"Oui. I offered to tell your sister everything I knew about Mina and wouldn't take no for an answer. My advice to Ami was to stay as far away as possible. But she ended up doing the opposite instead." Aoyama explained, getting an awkward laugh from Ami.
"Hehe. It worked, didn't it?" She asked, smiling nervously.
"Fair point." Aoyama stated, nodding his head in agreement. Aoyama glanced down at his wrist and stared at an imaginary watch. He shrugged and stared at the twins, bowing once more.
"Il est temps pour moi d'y aller. Au revoir, Ami." Aoyama said, waving at Ami while he returned to his seat.
"Um...Au revoir?" Ami waved, unsure what he was saying. She recognized the French word for goodbye but that was it. Watching Aoyama return to his seat reminded Ami that she should head back to her seat as well. She flared her nostrils and looked at Izuku, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, Izzy. I'm gonna go back to my seat, too, now." She smiled, pointing at her row with her thumb. Izuku stared at Ami and understood. He nodded his head in agreement, realizing the same thing.
"Alright. I should be heading back, too. The next match should be starting soon anyway. I'm sure Kacchan is waiting for you, too." Izuku said with a hopeful innocence. Ami scoffed, laughing at Izuku's words.
"I'm sure he is. Later, Izzy." Ami said, taking her hand off Izuku's shoulder.
"Later." Izuku waved back. Ami waved goodbye, watching Izuku walk down the steps to his row. She stopped staring and sighed, walking down the steps towards her row. Izuku returned to his seat and pulled out his notebook, wasting no time writing down everything he saw during Ami's matches. He was so focused on writing his analysis that he didn't notice the empty seat next to him, occupied only by a lone cup of tea.
Ami walked down the steps without any trouble and reached her row. She stared down at Bakugo and noticed he was glaring at the battlefield, raising her curiosity. Before she could get his attention, she was greeted by her friends.
"Hey, Ami." Kaminari greeted her. Ami glanced at Kaminari and nodded her head at his greeting.
"Hey, Kaminari." She replied.
"Awesome fight with Mina and Aoyama." Kaminari said, giving her two thumbs up in approval.
"Thanks." She replied.
"Hey, Ami. Good job winning both matches." Sero waved, smiling at her.
"Thanks, Sero." Ami waved. Kirishima heard the commotion and turned around in his seat. He shot up his seat and smiled in excitement.
"Ami. You're back. It's good to see you." He said, gripping the top of his seat.
"You, too, Kirishima." Ami smiled, nodding her head.
"Thanks. Those fights of yours were super cool! I could tell eating Aoyama's laser upset you. But the way you stood up and recovered afterwards was so manly. It's got me super pumped up for my fight!" Kirishima exclaimed, getting a laugh out of Ami.
"Aww. Thanks, Kirishima." Ami thanked, appreciating her friend's kind words. She stared at Kirishima for a few seconds before noticing the empty seat next to him.
"Isn't that Tokoyami's seat?" She thought.
"Hey, where's Tokoyami?" Ami asked.
"Huh? Oh, he and Yaoyorozu left already. Their match is up next!" Kirishima answered.
"Oh, alright." Ami nodded, understanding his absence. She felt a little sad that she couldn't wish him luck or pet Dark Shadow some more. She sighed and accepted it, looking back down at the one person who hasn't said a thing to her yet.
"Hey, Kacchan." She greeted, making eye contact with his glare. Bakugo looked up at Habanero and saw her happy smile. He scoffed at her and groaned.
"Habanero." Bakugo replied, acknowledging her existence. He moved his legs back and gave her room to get to her seat. He kept his arms crossed and waited for her to walk around him. When she wasn't moving quick enough he started to get impatient, glaring up at her in frustration.
"Aren't you gonna take a seat already, Habanero?" He questioned, receiving a playful smirk from Habanero.
"Why? Did ya miss me?" Ami asked, smirking at him with her arms folded. Bakugo glared at her and scoffed, rolling his eyes. He flared his nostrils and looked away in defiance.
"No." He stated bluntly.
"Alright." Ami replied, rolling her eyes. She maneuvered around Bakugo and returned to her seat. She plopped down into her seat and relaxed, taking a deep breath and stretching her arms out.
"Did it hurt?" Bakugo asked, keeping calm.
"Huh?" Ami questioned, looking at Bakugo with a surprised face.
"Eating French Fries laser." He clarified, grumbling to himself.
"Did it hurt?" Bakugo asked, confusing Ami. Ami raised her eyes incredulously at the question.
"How bad did it look from up here?" Ami thought, thinking back to that moment. The more she thought about it, the more she realized how terrifying it must have looked for Izuku. She rubbed her throat instinctively and kept a neutral expression.
"At first, yeah. It was hard to hold it together. But, thankfully, I got the hang of it." Ami replied, being honest. Bakugo didn't say anything for a few seconds, instead keeping his focus on the battlefield.
"...Uh huh." He said, calmly. Amj continued to stare at him in confusion. His question and reply was far calmer than she was expecting. A million thoughts went through her head as she watched him.
"Was he concerned, too?" She wondered, smiling lightly at the thought. She stared straight ahead at the battlefield and made small glances at Bakugo, noticing the serious look on his face. She shrugged and decided not to bug him about it. She appreciated his concern and kept silent. Bakugo was aware of the side glances Habanero made towards him after asking her a question. As soon as he asked that question, he regretted it. He knew full well Habanero would take advantage of the question and bother him about secretly caring. But she didn't. He didn't understand why, but he at least appreciated that she didn't tease him for asking.
The two stayed quiet in their seats, ending their conversation in peace. Several minutes later, the pyrotechnics on the field spewed fire into the air once more.
"Now, let's not let this hot streak cool. Time to move on to the sixth match!" Present Mic announced. Outside the stadium, Mt. Lady stared up at the jumbotron on the front entrance of the stadium with interest. The last two matches with the plain looking green haired girl had caught her attention, thinking about where she had seen her before.
"Isn't that the fire breathing girl that Kamui saved from falling into the Sludge Villain?" She wondered, keeping her eyes on the jumbotron. Those matches had long ended and the next two fighters were entering the ring. Kamui Woods noticed Mt. Lady was doing nothing again and glared at her with his arms crossed.
"We're not here to watch TV!" He reprimanded her, getting irritated. Inside the stadium, Present Mic continued his introductions.
"Offense and defense in one! The dark samurai and his darker shadow! From the Hero Course, Fumikage Tokoyami!" Present Mic announced, getting cheers from the audience. Tokoyami kept to himself and stared at Yaoyorozu with a solemn face, arms crossed.
"Versus...The great creator! She was admitted because of recommendations and I think we can all see why. Also from Class 1-A, Momo Yaoyorozu!" Present Mic announced, receiving a round of applause. Up in the hero stands, Wyvern and Backdraft stared at the two fighters with a heightened interest. Wyvern had his interest in Tokoyami and Backdraft had his interest in Yaoyorozu.
"Hmm. So, it's the boy with the sentient quirk versus the girl who can create anything?" Wyvern commented, staring at Tokoyami with interest. The extra fabric on his shoulder flapped upwards by the fire that peeked through it.
"Where's your shadow?" Wyvern asked, seeing no sign of the bird-faced student's quirk.
"She really impressed me with her quirk during the Obstacle Race. I'm hoping to see that same level of creativity in this battle." Backdraft commented, getting a quick stoic nod from Wyvern. He glanced at Yaoyorozu and narrowed his eyes at her, staring into her soul. He noticed the serious expression on her face and frowned. He could tell she was strategizing in her head.
"If she can react in time." Wyvern stated, getting Backdrafts attention.
"Huh?" Backdraft questioned, staring at Wyvern. Wyvern kept his stoic expression and nodded to himself, speaking up.
"Back in the Cavalry Battle, when your favorite greenette charged after Todoroki. Yaoyorozu created a blanket for her teammates to shield themselves from the electric kid's quirk. However, she didn't anticipate Octo-Kid stealing the blanket from her as soon as she created it. I counted at least three seconds before she responded to the attack. Which could mean one thing, she has a problem with using her quirk while thinking. Her reaction time is slow. And given her opponents strength and speed, she'll have to think fast and create something she can use at the same time." Wyvern explained, staring at Yaoyorozu.
"Hmm. I see. Maybe the way her quirk works is that she needs to visualize the object in her before she can create it? It would explain her reaction time." Backdraft theorized. He stared at the jumbotron and looked at the solemn expression on her face. Across the hero stands, Izuku stared at the battlefield and waited for the match to start. Seeing the lack of students around, Ojiro quickly leaned forward to Izuku's row.
"How do you think this one will end? Any clue?" Ojiro asked, leaning in above Izuku's left shoulder. Izuku turned his head slightly towards Ojiro but kept his eyes on the battlefield.
"Timing is going to be the key thing here." Izuku stated, ready to write in his notebook. Ojiro looked at Izuku with a puzzled stare.
"Oh? How so?" He asked.
Yaoyorozu kept up her serious expression as she stared at Tokoyami. He was silently observing her, making her uneasy. She narrowed her eyes and thought about her opponent.
"Present Mic's description of Tokoyami was accurate. With Dark Shadow, he's skilled at both attacking and defending. He can also call upon the creature instantaneously, so there's little doubt he'll start the match with a preemptive strike. If I can make a simple shield, I can block him. But I'll have to be fast about it, or else this fight will be over in a matter of seconds. Just like that." Momo realized, understanding how narrow her window of opportunity was against him.
"Then, If I have enough time to make-..." Yaoyorozu was quickly snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of Present Mic's voice.
"Sixth match… Begin!" Present Mic announced. Yaoyorozu heard the cheers and screams from the audience and gasped, quickly losing her focus.
"Already?" She thought, tensing up. She heard her opponent shout and looked at him in surprise.
"Go, Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami commanded. Two shining yellow eyes protruded out of Tokoyami's stomach, causing Momo to gasp. Dark Shadow made his presence known, flying out towards her like a Jack-in-the-box.
"I've got her!" Dark Shadow shouted. Momo was shocked by the speed of the shadow and panicked, activating her quirk on her right arm.
"Quickly! A shield!" She said, creating a shield out of her right arm. Dark Shadow saw the shield and grinned, roaring at her. She raised her right arm in defense and braced for impact. Dark Shadow impacted the shield with a loud thud, vibrating the metal shield. Dark Shadow quickly turned around and hovered away. Yaoyorozu saw the shadow creature retreating and raised her left arm.
"Now It's my turn to attack." She said to herself, activating her quirk in her left arm. She thought of the weapon in her head and tried creating it. Dark Shadow saw her quirk activating on her arm and instantly turned around, zooming back towards her. Momo saw the incoming attack and felt her concentration break. She instinctively raised her right arm in response, bracing herself for another hard impact. Dark Shadow made contact with the shield again, pushing her back several feet.
"I can't focus on my quirk!" She thought, gritting her teeth. Dark Shadow went back around for a third attack and increased his speed, ramming into Yaoyorozu's shield in quick succession. The hard impact pushed her body back even further, making her groan in pain. The force of the impact made her lose grip on her shield, making her panic.
She quickly concentrated and focused her quirk on her right arm, spawning another shield into existence. She gripped the shield tightly and yelped upon being hit a fourth time by Dark Shadow. The impact sent her sliding even further back. She winced in discomfort from the force of Dark Shadow's attacks. Noticing a break in his assault, she raised her eyes and stared at Tokoyami. She panted in exhaustion and waited for him to make a move. But he didn't. Instead, he was just standing there. Menacingly!
"Why has he stopped? She wondered. She didn't waste time figuring it out. Shaking off her question, she took advantage of his inaction and spawned on a staff on her left arm, "This is my chance!" She thought, narrowing her eyes and taking an offensive fighting stance.
"Yaoyorozu!" Midnight shouted, breaking her of her concentration. She glanced at Midnight and flinched.
"You're out!" Midnight announced, waving her flag toward her. Yaoyorozu felt her eyes shrink at the announcement. She gasped and immediately looked at the ground. Her offensive fighting stance caused her to place her right foot outside of the ring, meaning she was out of bounds.
"This match goes to Tokoyami!" Midnight announced. The audience was less than pleased at the results of the match but shouted nonetheless.
"Oh, no. Poor, Yaoyorozu." Ami gasped in her seat, covering her mouth with her hand. Backdraft and Wyvern's reaction to the fight wasn't any different. Wyvern crossed his arms and reclined into his seat, shaking his head lightly with a stoic frown. Backdraft drooped his shoulders in silence, frowning in sympathy for Yaoyorozu.
"Yikes! Another fast, overwhelming victory! Is it possible that Tokoyami's Dark Shadow is the greatest quirk ever? I think so!" Present Mic commented, receiving loud applause. Wyvern heard the question over the speakers and instantly rolled his eyes at the question.
"Pfft. Yeah right." Wyvern scoffed, mumbling his sentence. He found the question very hard to believe. Backdraft heard his mumbling clearly and turned his head and stared at him.
"Strike a chord?" He asked, getting a nod from the stoic hero.
"A little. Sure, a sentient quirk like Dark Shadow seems cool. But a lot of people don't realize how much of a hassle it really is." Wyvern explained. Backdraft looked at him and nodded, understanding his opinion on the subject.
"I see. Still. Their teamwork was good. He impacted the shield and pushed her towards the out of bounds with every hit. Poor girl. Looks like she's taking it pretty hard down there." Backdraft frowned, feeling sorry for Yaoyorozu. He looked at the pained expression on her face and could tell she was holding back tears.
"I lost…I didn't even… do anything." Yaoyorozu frowned.
"Tokoyami is way too powerful." Izuku stated, staring at the battlefield with eyes bulging.
"I can't believe he forced her out of bounds by focusing his attacks on her shield. He obviously had a strategy worked out." He assumed, getting a nod from Ojiro.
"Yeah, I guess so. Maybe he didn't want to hurt her." He guessed, getting Izuku to look at him.
"I bet she's really upset about how that went down. I feel bad for her." Ojiro admitted, getting a nod from Izuku in understanding. He had the same opinion about the fight as well. Izuku looked at Ojiro and darted his eyes towards the seat next to him. He stared at the seat and realized Ochaco was gone, raising his eyes in confusion. He frowned in confusion and turned his head to the right, noticing Iida was gone as well.
"Alright. Looks like I'm up against Class 1-B next." Kirishima stated, getting up from his seat. Izuku glanced at Kirishima and watched his classmates show their support.
"Show 'em who's boss, Kirishima." Kaminari exclaimed, raising his fist in the air.
"Yeah. Go, team J." Sero said, waving goodbye.
"Knock him out, Kirishima. Team J all the way!" Ami cheered, getting a smile out of Kirishima.
"Thanks, guys. I'll do my best!" Kirishima exclaimed, flexing his arms. Izuku watched Kirishima walk up the stairs and narrowed his eyes. He looked at the empty seat next to him and frowned, wondering where Ochaco went. He stood up out of his seat and made his way towards the exit, getting the attention of both Ami and Bakugo. Ami watched Izuku walk up the stairs and raised her eyebrow at him in confusion.
"Where's he going?" Ami wondered, debating on checking it out as well. Bakugo kept his eyes on Deku and glared at him. Once he was out of his sight, Bakugo returned his attention to the empty battlefield. Ami made a few glances at Bakugo to see what he was thinking and watched him roll his eyes. She guessed Bakugo decided it wasn't important enough to go investigate.
Keeping to herself, she leaned back into her seat and relaxed. If Bakugo didn't think it wasn't important then chances are it wasn't. She stared down at the empty battlefield and shrugged, pushing the thought away. Izzy could wait. She wanted to see Kirishima's match.
Author's Notes: Important
Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the Author's Notes. You're probably thinking,
"Guy, it's been six days since the last chapter? How the hell did you write this?"
Well, to answer that, I spent two entire days writing from 9am to 4pm. I pushed myself really hard to write all this and get it done as fast as possible. The reason for doing this I will explain later.
You probably noticed we hit several milestones since the last chapter was posted. First, Twin Heroes reached 300,000 words with the release of chapter 22. And after this chapter gets posted, we'll be almost a quarter of the way to 400k. Second, we hit 50 reviews. Serious thanks for taking the time to leave a review for each chapter posted. I appreciate and value whatever feedback you can offer. Third, 150 people liked this story. That's a lot of people who like my writing despite being a mouthful at times. Thank you to everyone who followed and favorited the story. I couldn't have gotten this far without you. For real, this story was going to end at season 1 until I saw how many people actually enjoyed reading this. This leads into the next milestone. Today is December 1st, 2021. Meaning that this story officially turns 1 today! That's just amazing to me. Hard to believe a year has passed since chapter 1. It's a reminder that I have to keep going and releasing more chapters. I am not abandoning this story. I will continue to write season 2 no matter what happens. The unfortunate tragedy of my beloved dog may have delayed these chapters but I am back into the writing spirit. Last thing, I will be editing more past chapters in a few days from now. I don't expect you to check for changes everyday so It's best not to go looking until the next chapter is posted. But just know I am re editing some past chapters to be more descriptive. I don't want anyone to get confused so I won't be changing past dialogue. Now, unfortunately, there is something I need to say now.
This chapter was meant to be short so I could cram Kirishima, Shoji, and Ochaco's matches into one. Next chapter will be the end of the first round of the tournament. Once that chapter is finished it'll be Izuku vs Todoroki next. And after that will hopefully be smooth sailing for the time being. Next chapter will be called First Round Conclusions and will likely take forever to write. I'm saying it'll take a while now because this year is a far busier December for me compared to 2020. I have present hunting to do and College Finals for this semester are this month. So for the time being it'll be hard to communicate to all you in private messages. So, if you could kindly leave your questions in the reviews, I will extremely appreciate it.
Now to answer those reviews from the last chapter. First, Ami is getting a romance. I've placed hints already and I can't undo them so there's no going back on it now. I gave my word I'd try and try I will. You have my utmost apologies if this isn't something you want to read but the romance won't be a major part. Or, well, actually it is but it's not the main focus. I will follow the main show as best I can.
Second, Ami and Izuku's father is still not present in the manga as far as I know so I will continue to not mention him ever in the story. At least until we get something about him.
Third, Izuku's big brother moment will happen eventually. Though probably not during the sports festival.
Fourth, Thank you for complimenting my French. I took it for three years in high school and literally forgot everything. Once again ADHD is both my curse and my gift. Ami's quirk is limited for the time being. She didn't get the perfect combination of her parents' quirks. She's got the fire breathing from her dad and she got the attracting objects from her mom. Although for Ami it's unique to only attracting flames, explosions, and, now, lasers. Regarding the flaming saliva idea, that's what her fireball basically is. She's swirling around the flames in her mouth like spit and firing it. There are several variations of this that Ami will learn to do somewhere down the line.
As a hint for the future of her quirk, don't forget when she inhales nearby flames, she can stick it to any part of her body if she wills it. She can attract the flames to her hands but she can't actually do anything to it when it's on her hand. So no she will not be blasting fire through her hands, she is exclusively a firebreather. In relation to sticking flames on limbs, I thought about making her slide on fire like Mina with acid but the more I thought about it, the more it made no sense in my head. Fire is not acid so, unfortunately, no sliding on fire for Ami. But I have a different plan for her involving shoes in the future. Ami is limited to fire breathing, yes, but there is more to her than meets the eye.
Fifth, this wasn't from a review but in a private message. I was asked why Ami gets creative in every fight she's in. Well, in universe, she can't just light people on fire. I think even for a guy like Endeavor it's probably illegal to light a whole person on fire. As for why I try to write Ami's fights more creatively. It's because I don't want her to speedrun every fight she's in and I don't want to make her good at everything because that seems pretty boring. Ami isn't the smartest and she's not the best but her creativity is right up there with Izuku. They are twins after all. Ami is just starting out and she's accepted her fire breathing abilities but she has much to learn.
Sixth, in response to another private message, I know I said I would reveal who Ami will be with in the Author's Notes for Chapter 21 but no one said anything so I assumed you didn't want to know until it became obvious. So just for one last time, tell me in the reviews if you want to know who Ami will be involved romantically with and I will reveal it in Chapter 24's Author's Notes. I'm still at least a few chapters away from revealing it in the story itself so this is only so people will be aware who Ami will be shipped with for the rest of the series.
Hope everyone enjoyed the fight with Mina. Tried to think outside the box for the fight so I hope you like it. Anyways that's pretty much it for now. Thanks for reading the chapter. I will hopefully have the next chapter out before Christmas. Please leave a review and give me feedback about anything you see. I'm posting this on at 9pm my time so I'm dead tired. The editing might be a little off so please point that out to me as fast as possible so I can correct it. I will be posting this on Archive tomorrow morning. Thanks for reading and have a good day!
