irgil kissed his wife's temple, "Food was good, sweetie, thank you."
Jess hugged him, gripping a little tighter than normal, "You're welcome."
He kissed her head a few more times, "Why don't you take a break? Let me do a few things."
"I'm fine, honey, you have to work," she sighed before releasing him.
It was nice that he generally worked from home. But he still had to work.
Virgil grimaced, "Well, let me make dinner tonight. Ok? I know you're super woman, but you have a partner here."
He was gifted with another kiss, "Thank you so much, babe. You're so wonderful. Your dad's struggles paid off."
He playfully pushed her away, "OK, just take it easy, gorgeous." He stepped to the front room, "Miguelito."
"Si?" The man was sat on the floor, reading through his own paperwork.
"Keep mommy from overwhelming herself. We don't want her overheating."
"I'm fine," she pushed his shoulder.
"Of course," Miguel nodded, taking the assignment most seriously.
"Good," he grabbed her forehead, shaking it.
"Go on back to your office. Finish making my money," she pushed her goofy husband off.
Virgil winked at Miguel before hurrying back down the hallway.
"Stop encouraging that fool," Jess tapped Miguel's head, "What are you working on, anyway? Research?"
"Yes," he began to explain his plans for more tech and such.
She nodded, listening intently. Giving input and suggestions on some of his plans, which he took to heart. Her and Virgil often had good ideas.
The conversation lasted a few minutes before Jess could hear her lineage crying out for her.
"I'm coming Gunner, here I come," she walked over, picking him up from his bouncer, "What wrong, little boy?" she pat his back, carrying him over to the couch, "I'm listening."
"Uhm," Mig took notes, "I was thinking of making changes to some of the rooms at HQ as well."
"OK, like what?" The mom sighed, letting her greedy boy latch on and drink his fill.
"I'm still thinking on it, bouncing some ideas around in my head," he set the paperwork aside, hugging her leg.
"Feeling needy today? Affectionate or you want to join GG for some milk," she teased, running her fingers through his hair.
His face started to match a ripe strawberry, "That was a very traumatic event."
"Was it now?" She smirked.
"So traumatizing he talks about how sweet it tasted," Lyla landed on the mom's shoulder, "Hi, GG!" she couldn't help but gush.
"No one was talking to you," Mig growled.
"Blushy baby," Jess tapped his nose.
"Are you ok?"
"Why do you guys keep asking? I'm fine," she waved a hand dismissively.
Everything was ok. Everything was fine. She was content, happy.
"I'm ok," Jess rocked Gunner, "But you can burp him if you want."

Virgil snuck from his office, hearing the baby cry. Barely entering the front room he could see the exhaustion on his beloved's face.
"Sweetheart?" he slowly walked over, seeing her stare off. Miguel was hurrying from the kitchen with a mug of hot chocolate.
"Here Jess," Miguel set the drink on the table for her, slipping the baby out of her hold as her Husband wrapped his arms around her.
"Th-thank you, I'm fine," her voice broke, feeling Virgil's comforting grip.
Mig bounced Gunner in his arms, leaning down to give his friend a kiss on the forehead.
That was what it took to finally break her walls. She leaned into her husband's shoulder sobbing. Postpartum was hitting her hard today and she just wasn't sure why.
"It's ok, Sweetheart," he rubbed her shoulder, "You're doing such a great job. I'm so proud of you, baby."
2099 watched their interaction. This is the opposite of what he grew up with. None of this same page, supportive stuff. No one consoling anyone, other than him consoling his little brother. It was nice. It even soothed him.
Mig sighed, taking the baby to his nursery. He felt that he shouldn't involve himself in such an intimate moment.
"What's wrong with little Gunner?" Lyla floated over him, displaying some animated flowers and cartoons for him.
"I think he has gas," Miguel sat in the rocking chair, pushing the baby's knees to it's chest. The series of trumpets confirmed what he had suspected, "Yep, that's what's wrong. All that trapped air."
With his tummy relieved Gunner quickly began to calm.
"There now, all better," he hugged the baby to his chest.

"Hey Miguel, how are you?" Peter swung from the light pole, holding his phone to his ear.
"Jess has been barred from patrolling this week so I have been patrolling for her, dealing with holes and chilling with Gunner."
"There you go, you're not the only one who has to be cracked down on for doing too much."
"Yeah, she's going through some postpartum, I don't think she wants to admit," Miguel knew all too well about not wanting to accept depression, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing too important."
"I'm going to need you and Ben, I have an idea for HQ, and I am asking for assistance," he made sure to emphasize that word.
"Well, since you asked sooo nicely," he smirked, "Where is Jess now?"
"Virgil took her for a spa day," Mig gently bounced the baby's chair with his foot.
"So they left poor Mig there all alone?" he tsked, "Want some company?'
"I'm not opposed."
"Alright, I'll be over as soon as I can."

"You are the cutest, next to Mayday!" Peter cradled the little one, "Look May, he's smaller than you," he showed the infant off to his soon to be toddler.
"Baby," May cooed in intrigue.
"So what's this plan for HQ boss?"
