A New Arrival and An Old Friend
Early one morning Charlie and Vaggie were sound asleep. They were up so late the night before coming up with lesson plans for the Hotel that the couple had decided to just sleep in.
Just as the alarm went off, signaling their usual wake up time, an Angelic Knife is thrown at it.
Vaggie turns to her girlfriend. "Hun, you forgot to turn off the alarm."
"Sorry…" Charlie lets out a yawn. "It must have just slipped my mind. Let's just go back to sleep."
And just as the two were about to doze back off to sleep, the door burst open momentarily before a small form jumps on the bed and tries shaking them awake.
"Mom! Mama! Wake up!" Celest shouts. "Come downstairs. You guys have got to see this!"
Vaggie's eye partially opens, and she tells her daughter, "Honey, after we have our morning coffee," Fallen Angel yawns. "Remind us to punish you severely."
"But, Mama."
"Celest, Sweetie," Charlie turns away. "It's too early. Let us sleep in a little more. Okay."
"Okay," Celest hops back down from the bed. "But Grandpa is in the Lobby with an angel."
"That's nice," Vaggie says absentmindedly.
The little girl finally left the room. Not even ten seconds after the door closes, the moms shot right up, wide eyed.
The Princess starts to ask. "Did she just say that my dad's…"
"Yeah!" the former Exorcist nods.
"And that he's with…"
"Uh-hu!"
The couple were quick to rush out of bed and hurriedly threw something on. As the two were heading downstairs, they could hear the front desk bell ringing.
"You don't have to keep ringing that bell," Lucifer is heard saying, followed by a familiar voice.
"Sorry. I'm kind of new to this hotel thing. I'm actually new to this whole Hell thing. Do I have to curse?"
The King is then heard laughing. "No! None of those are requirements to be here. Even for Sinners that stuff is a choice."
Rounding the corner, Charlie and Vaggie find not only the Big Boss of Hell but also a certain young Seraphim.
"Emily?" the Princess runs up to the Angel.
"Charlie!" and the two briefly hugged. "It's so nice to see you."
"It's great to see you too, Emmy," they then break apart. "But what are you doing here? In Hell?"
Vaggie gets between them. "That's what I want to know," the former Exorcist then few bags behind the Seraphim. "Did you… fall?"
All of Emily's eyes avoided meeting anyone. "No. I left on my own free will."
Charlie's eyes had worry in them. "You ran away?" she realizes. "Why? You were living in Heaven! In Paradise!"
At that, Emily sighs. "I'm not sure how much of it truly is paradise if everyone is living under lies. I couldn't agree with Sera when she said the Extermination was necessary. Spouting about how she knew that Hell was going to rise against Heaven and that she had to control its population. She eventually said that if I don't stop questioning her then I could end up Falling," the angel looks down. "I don't know if my sister was warning me to be cautious or if it was a threat. Knowing that she was willing to have mortal souls killed, I didn't want to find out," she then looks back up at Charlie and Vaggie. "So, we got out while we still can and had hoped you had some room for us?"
The mothers glanced at one another before Vaggie asks. "We?" and Charlie adds.
"Us?"
"Yes, well—"
"Ah!" someone screams as they land in front of them and Charlie and Vaggie couldn't believe who it was.
"Pentious?" the Princess asks as the Snake Man pulls himself of the floor. It is indeed their friend. Only, he's a bit brighter.
"Wha… Where am—" he is then tackled into a hug by both Charlie and Vaggie. "My friends," Sir Pentious gladly returns their embrace.
Once they break apart, a teary-eyed Charlie asks. "What happened? How are you here? We thought you were—"
"You f(bleep)ing idiot!" Cherri Bomb shouts as she jumps from the top of the stairs. "You don't just kiss girl, tell her you love her, and go and get yourself killed!" she approaches Pentious and knees him in the stomach. "Like a f(bleep)ing hero! That really f(bleep) with someone's head! And now there's only one thing that I want from you," she grabs him and pulls the Snake up close. "Do you really have two?"
Pentious raised a brow at the question. "Two what?"
Cherri just smiles as her eye glances down for a moment.
"Oh?" he realizes and bows. "That, Ms. Cherri Bomb, is not something that should be discussed in the company of others."
"Well, then," the Explosives expert grabs Pentious by the coat and drags him upstairs. "Guess I'll have to find out myself." With that, the two disappeared further into the Hotel.
Lucifer walks up to his daughter. "He's the reason they're here. Turns out that the head of the Seraphim did not want it to get out that a Sinner managed to get into Heaven."
At that, Emily nods her head. "He had a full suite with plenty of luxuries, so it didn't seem like he was trapped. But when I went to visit him without my sister I found out that he wasn't allowed to leave the room," she once again refused to meet anyone in the eye again. "I might have made the rash decision to help him out and bring him back down here. He did miss everyone. Especially that one eyed girl," she looks up at where they disappeared to. "What are they doing anyway?'
Instead of getting an answer, Vaggie steps up to the Angel. "Never mind that! Are you saying that you helped break out a convict and are now a fugitive wanted by Heaven?"
"Technically…" the young Seraphim thinks for a moment. "Yes."
The former Exorcist smirks.
Lucifer steps between them and brought the girls into a group hug. "Welcome to the club!"
Emily lets out a laugh. "You're nothing like what the other angel's say you are."
"Let me guess. All bad things?"
"Pretty much," she shrugs. "The Lucifer they described wouldn't have helped a lost Angel."
"You're just lucky that I was already on my way here."
"Oh, really?"
"Oooh!" the King of Hell realizes his mistake as he turns to see Charlie and her girlfriend glaring at him with arms crossed.
"Dad! You know you're not allowed to come over unless you call first."
"I was gonna call," Lucifer defends himself. "Right before I rang the doorbell."
The two women's glare intensifies. "New rule!" Vaggie speaks up. "You cannot come over unless you call an hour ahead of time."
"Aw! But that's so long!" the head honcho whines a little. His coat is tugged slightly. Looking down, he finds Celest with a hold of his coat.
"Don't worry, Grandpa," the child gives him a bright smile. "We can still play."
Lucifer flashes a large smile of his own. "Yay!" he snatches her up.
"Grandpa?" Emily looks at the two in confusion then over at Charlie. "When did this happened? I would have remembered Sera mentioning that."
Vaggie tells her fellow angel. "It was a recent development."
"Celest, Sweetie," the princess calls. "Come over here!" And Lucifer sets the child down so she could go over to get between her moms. "Celest, meet Emily. A friend of ours. Emmy, meet Celest. Mine and Vaggie's daughter."
That only confused the Seraphim even further as she looks between the two women. Her attention is then brought back to the small girl.
"Ms. Emily," Celest tilts her head. "Are you one of the angels that Grandpa met with to get me my wings?" the girl then concentrates on letting her wings sprout and inadvertently allowing her horns to show as well, surprising Emily.
With a wide-eyed look, the Angel looks up from the child and at the two mothers. That's when she notices Lucifer waving a hand in front of his neck, asking to not say anything.
"Uh…" she looks back down at Celest. "I'm afraid that I wasn't part of such meeting."
"Aw!" she droops a little as her wings and horns fade.
"Don't worry, Honey," Vaggie lifts her daughter up. "I'm sure you'll get to meet the angel someday… Probably," he adds, hesitantly. "You're getting better at bringing them out willingly, Celest. Soon you'll be able to do it without struggling. Or involuntarily."
The little girl looks down. "I'm sorry about knocking that vase over."
"We already told you, Celest," Charlie smiles at her daughter. "It was an accident. Besides. A decoration is replaceable. You on the other hand?" she then pecks her on the cheek. "Are one of a kind." The Hotel Owner looks over at Emily. "Emmy. You can stay here as long as you need. The Hotel is one of the safer places in Hell. We'll get you a room set up for you and if you need anything, just let us know," the blonde woman then looks over at her father. "Would you like to stay for breakfast? I'm sure we can whip something up."
Lucifer smiles at that. "I'd love to, Char-char. But I'm afraid that I'm going to be preoccupied with something. Perhaps tomorrow," he then gestures to the young seraphim. "I would like a little chat with Emmy hear. I know that she'll be fine here, but I just want to make sure that she's okay with everything."
"Okay, Dad," the Princess shrugs as places a hand around Vaggie's waist. "Who wants pancakes?"
The little girl shouts. "I do!"
Once they are gone, Lucifer sighs and turns to Emily. "About Celest and her wings…"
"I've never heard of a Hellborn getting Angel wings," the seraphim thought.
"Yeah, you see…"
"But I supposed if Vaggie is somehow her mother as well then I guess it's just like how plenty of children get traits from both their parents."
Hearing that, the King of Hell lets out an awkward laugh. "Yes! That's it! That's the reason," he then calms down. "Well, I guess I should make my leave. Take care, Emily. Oh? If I were you, I would avoid going out unless you have someone here with you. Even if you weren't an angel it would be dangerous for newcomers."
"Thank you," the Angel bows. "You're Majesty."
"Don't thank me," he waves off the formality. "You're a friend of my daughter's, and Celest likes you. That brings you pretty close to being part of the family."
That makes the Seraphim smile a little. "I always wanted a big family. But it's always been just me and Sera."
Lucifer raised a brow. "And Sera's your sister, right?"
"Yes," she nods. "Do you know her?"
The man turns away. "Once. Or at least I thought I did." He then walks out the door. When he was outside, Lucifer says to himself. "She's way too young to be a Seraphim," he looks up to the sky. "What did you do, Sera?"
NOTE: The first part of this Chapter was a prompt by Doc fossil. My only is that I didn't come up with it myself.
NOTE 2: I'm thinking about taking breaks from posting on weekends. At least for breathers to give me more time to prepare new entries. I did kinda go crazy with A Little Hazbin with writing and updating every single day.
