Ch 23 The New Trio

Steven and his Partner, Metang stood before the Gym Leader of Lavaridge Town's Gym Leader. Flannery's Grandfather, Mr. Moore, and his Partner Typhlosion.

"Well, this is it, Steven." Mr. Moore smirks at the Steel-blue haired trainer on the other end of the Battlefield. "We both have one Pokemon left, who's going to take the win?"

The young trainer slaps his cheeks before looking at the Gym Leader,

"It's going to be me, Mr. Moore." The Steel-blue haired trainer stated, not even flinching at the fact he's facing the Gym Leader's ace Pokemon. "No matter how strong our opponent is, we're not giving in. Right, Metang?"

Metang readied his two fists, agreeing with his Partner's statement. "Metang!"

In the bleachers, Steven's friends were watching the final match between Steven and the Gym Leader. "Steven is pumped up; I can tell by how he slaps his cheeks with both hands." Brawly grins, resting his arms on his legs.

Helena looks at the sky-blue-haired trainer, curious about what he said. "What do you mean?"

Brawly looks at the black-haired trainer, "You see Helena, whenever Stevie gets overwhelmed, he slaps his cheeks to get himself pumped up." The young surfer explains.

"Usual this happens when he faces strong opponents but the last time, he did that was when he faced the Gym Leader at Mossdeep City." Wallace continues after his friend, remembering the tough battle against Racheal.

"I see," Helena looks back at the Battlefield, having faith in her friend. "Kirlia, let's give Steven the biggest cheer we can make." She looks down at her Partner.

The Duel-type looks up at her Partner, nodding with her suggestion. "Kirlia!"

Flannery leans forward, looking at the former Witch. "Well, can me and Roxanne join you?"

"We too believe Steven can make it," Roxanne added, believing in their friend.

"YOU CAN DO IT STEVEN AND METANG!" Steven looks at the stands where his friends were cheering for him to win.

The young trainer was grateful to have friends such as them. He looks at Metang, happy to hear their friends cheering them on. "We better give them a Battle that they'll remember, Metang," Steven said to his Partner.

"Metang!" The Iron Claw Pokemon agreed with his Partner.

Mr. Moore smiles at the spunk Steven was showing him. "Glad you're not giving up, Steven. Let's start this final match." He said, nodding to his Son at the side of the Battlefield.

Flannery's Father nodded, "Let the final match between Mr. Moore the Gym Leader, and the Challenger Steven Stone…Begin!" The Referee announced.

"Let's make this quick, use Flamethrower!" Mr. Moore ordered his Partner, to take the first move.

"Metang, dodge it!" Steven shouted, having confidence that his Partner will dodge the attack.

Metang vanishes before the flames could land a hit on him,

Mr. Moore was astonished by how fast the Duel-type was. "Now that's one fast Metang," He chuckles seeing that Steven trained Metang well.

Metang appeared at the side of the Battlefield, dodging the flames. "Now, use Light Screen!"

"Metang!" Metang's eyes glowed a blue hue as translucent tiles appeared before him.

"Setting up a Light Screen, Steven is determined to win the Gym Badge," Roxanne stated, watching the Light Screen fade away.

"Kirlia," Kirlia nodded, watching the final match between the two aces of each trainer.

Helena agreed with what her brunette friend said. "A Light Screen would decrease the power of Typhlosion's attack, including the Fire-type ones." She commented, understanding his strategy. "But still…"

Wallace nodded, seeing the downside. "That's not enough, even if the attacks are reduced the effectiveness is still there to deal with their typing."

Brawly sat up, punching the air, "Come on Steven!"

"Metang, follow up with a Zen Headbutt!" Steven cried out, using his Partner's speed to his advantage.

Metang's head was covered by a blueish barrier and charged right in.

The old Gym Leader raised his hand, getting pumped up with the battle. "Typhlosion, use Dynamic Punch to deflect the attack!" Mr. Moore ordered his Partner.

Typhlosion pulled back his arm, his fist glowing a brownish orange hue. When Metang's Zen Headbutt approached, the Volcano Pokemon punched at the barrier.

Both attacks were equal in strength, they were repelled back to the opposite side of the field.

Metang catches himself before hitting the ground, "Metang, are you alright?" Steven asked his Partner.

"Meta," The Iron Claw Pokemon nodded, not wanting to worry his trainer.

Typhlosion stumbles back on his side, planting both his feet on the ground. "Typhlosion, can you continue?" Mr. Moore asked his ace.

Typhlosion gave a confident smirk at his Partner; Mr. Moore nodded, holding out his hand. "If so, use Flamethrower!" The Fire-type's nape burst into flames before releasing a powerful Flamethrower.

"Metang, use Iron Defense!" Steven held out his hand.

"Meta," The Iron Claw Pokemon's body turned to a metallic color as three barriers from the Light Screen took place.

The Flamethrower decreased with each barrier it passed. The flames were cut in half, landing a hit on the metal-covered Pokemon.

Metang was pushed back, taking up less than half the damage with his Light Screen and Iron Defense.

"Metang took the minimum damage from the Flamethrower with both defenses he set up," Wallace observed the battle, seeing the damage that Metang took.

Helena nodded, "Steven is defiantly going for the defensive strategy with Metang. Understandable since the type weakness. "No wonder he chooses two defensive moves this time."

Steven swipes his hand to the side, "Use Zen Headbutt once more, Metang!"

Metang obeys, his head covered in a blueish barrier and charges at the Volcano Pokemon.

Mr. Moore raised his hand, "Typhlosion, Giga Impact!" He ordered.

Typhlosion roars in the air, and the flames on his nape grew as a rainbow-colored aura engulfed his body. He charges at the charging Metang in a spiraling aura,

Both the Giga Impact and Zen Headbutt collided with each other, causing a big explosion upon contact.

Steven and Mr. Moore shielded their eyes, preventing the dust from coming into their eyes. They looked to see both their Pokemon still standing despite the major damage they took.

Metang looks tired, staggering to stay floating as the Light Screen wore off. The same goes with Typhlosion, he was breathing heavily.

Both Pokemon took heavy damage from powerful attacks. Steven and Mr. Moore know that one powerful move means that either of their Pokemon could be taken out.

Helena and the others were watching carefully on which side would take the first move.

Steven took the incitive, he held out his hand. "Metang, use Hyper Beam!" He exclaims.

"Typhlosion, let's claim victory! Use Overheat!" Mr. Moore smiles, going out strong.

"Met…" Metang began to charge up his Hyper Beam on his horn. A black orb appeared at the tip of Metang's horn, building up power.

Typhlosion got on all fours, and the flames on his nape grew large. He roars, opens his mouth, and released yellow-orange flames at the Duel-type,

"TANG!" Metang released a black powerful beam at the Overheat.

The attacks met, both equal in power. Steven steps forward, believing in his Partner. "Keep going, Metang!" He shouted, placing his faith in his Pokemon.

"Metang!" The Iron Claw Pokemon exclaims, pouring his power to defeat the Fire-type before him.

"Keep putting pressure on Metang, my friend." Mr. Moore shouted, wanting to test how Steven and Metang handle the pressure of a stronger opponent.

Helena stood up with Kirlia, wanting to cheer on Metang. "You can do it, Metang! Don't give in!"

Kirlia placed both her numbs on the side of her mouth, "Kirl, Kirlia!"

Everyone joined in, cheering on the Steel/Psychic-type to beat Typhlosion.

Metang pushed forward, giving it his all to move past the Overheat. "METANG!" The Duel-type's Hyper Beam broke through the flames, splitting it in the middle.

Mr. Moore saw this and saw no way for Typhlosion to dodge it. The attack landed a hit, causing an explosion. Everyone was staring at the dust cloud where the Volcano Pokemon,

Flannery's father approaches the dust cloud, waiting until it clears to call whether or not he's unable to continue. His eyes widen, seeing Typhlosion still standing on fours.

"Typhlosion!" Mr. Moore exclaims, seeing his Partner still standing on his feet.

Steven frowns, Typhlosion took the Hyper Beam head-on, he's still standing. Metang was still recovering from releasing a powerful Hyper Beam and was unable to move. However, he collapses just when he thought the Fire-type was about to do a finishing blow to Metang.

The Referee raised his flag at his Father's side, "Typhlosion is unable to battle! The victor of the Lavaridge Town Gym is the Challenger Steven Stone and Metang!" He announced,

The Rotom Drone approached, hovering above Steven and Metang, recording the rising trainer's victory.

Mr. Moore smiles softly, taking out Typhlosion's Pokeball. He aims it at the Volcano Pokemon and called him back. "Thank you, my friend. Take a good rest." A red beam went towards Typhlosion, returning him inside.

Everyone on the bleachers cheered for their friend's victory. "Great job, Steven!" Helena cheered, ecstatic for another victory that Steven got.

"Kirlia! Kirlia!" The Emotion Pokemon cheered, happy for her Partner's friend on his victory.

"Awesome! Three more Badges to go!" Brawly laughs, snapping his finger.

Flannery crosses her arms, proud of Steven beating her Grandfather. "Nice job, Steven. Nice job," She nodded that all three of them got the Heat Badge.

Roxanne looks at Wallace, sharing the same excited expression as everyone else. "Steven, Brawly, and Roxanne are really close to gaining a place in the Pokemon League, ain't that right Wallace?" She asked the teal-haired boy.

Wallace smiles, giving a small chuckle at how close his friends are close to ace him in the Pokemon League. "Yeah, they're really close…" He commented, excited for the day to battle them officially.

Near the end of the day, everyone was standing before Mr. Moore. Steven, Flannery, and Brawly were lined up, awaiting to receive their Heat Badges.

Mr. Moore steps forward with his son standing with three Heat Badges on a tray for them. "In accordance with the Pokemon League regulations, I would like to award you three the Heat Badge." He motions his son to step forward, allowing the three trainers to take the Gym Badge.

Each trainer took the Heat Badge respectfully, Flannery's Father smiles proudly at his Daughter's accomplishment. "Great job, sweetie." He congratulates the red-haired girl.

Flannery smiles at her family, happy to make her family proud. "Thanks, Dad," She thanked the red-haired man.

"As a second reward for defeating me, I'll gift you all TM50, Overheat." Mr. Moore held out his red Rotom Phone, sharing the TM with everyone,

Helena steps forward, happy to see Steven and the others getting closer to their goals. "Congratulations you guys, you all worked hard in your battles." She smiles brightly at them.

Kirlia nodded, agreeing with her trainer. "Kirlia,"

Steven chuckles, placing his hand on the back of his neck. "Thanks, Helena."

Brawly wraps his arms around Steven, grinning at their friends. "Three more Badges and we can challenge the League!" He exclaims.

"Yeah! I'm so pumped up; I can just explode!" Flannery held her hands like some villain manically laughing.

Roxanne steps forward, placing her hands behind her. "Try not to, Flannery. We all got a long way to go before you do such a thing." The brunette jokes.

Wallace chuckles, his hand over his chin. "Now that we got the Heat Badge, where do you all want to head next?" He asked the three Gym Challengers, "There are a few places I do suggest, mainly the beach at Dewford Town." He gave a sly smirk at Brawly.

"Hahahaha, is it because it's near the Trainer's School or the fact my Hometown is a tourist destination cause of the beach, Wally?" Brawly raised his eyebrow at the teal-haired Champion.

"Guilty as charged." Wallace shrugs, causing everyone to laugh at the young Champion admitting his true purpose in going to Dewford Town.

Mr. Moore smiles, seeing the spark of adventure within the group. He steps forward, smiling at the group, "Whatever you all decide, do keep in mind. As long as you have friends around, your journey is something worth remembering." He smiles.

Everyone nodded, taking the old Gym Leader's lesson into mind. Steven turns to everyone, already decided where to head next. "So," He spoke out, having his friend's eyes on him. "We're heading to Dewford next then?" He asked.

Hogwarts, a week later

A young bronze-haired boy walks down the halls, he heard many rumors of a certain Girl-who-lived. He passed a few students, whispering about current events.

"Have you heard? Helena Potter has disappeared." A Gryffindor said to his fellow student. "No one has seen her for a week."

The other Gryffindor was shocked by the news, "Really? I've thought she was sick all week." He stated,

"No, even if she was sick, why Aurors were looking through her dorm room?" The female Gryffindor commented, remembering seeing female Aurors entering the dormitories.

"Really? I never knew that happened." The young Wizard said with shock.

Cedric eyes the two students, listening to their conversation. He does find it strange that Helena suddenly disappears out of the blue, it wasn't like her.

The young Hufflepuff walks further down the hall, he then saw a short shiny haired girl with a freckled nose. "Cho," Cedric called out to his friend just a few feet ahead of them.

The young Ravenclaw turned around, seeing the bronze-haired boy coming to her. "C-Cedric? Is there something you need?" Cho Chang asked her friend.

"Is it true?" Cedric asked,

"Is what true?" Cho blinks, unsure what her friend is saying.

"That Helena has disappeared from Hogwarts?" The Hufflepuff asked his friend, hoping the rumors were false.

Cho sighs, knowing full well that this was meant to be a secret. "Cedric, I can't officially tell you about Helena but if you want to find out yourself then ask Hermione or Ginny." The young Ravenclaw suggested to him. "They can tell you what's going on."

Cedric nodded, thanking his friend. He started to walk to where he thought Helena's friends are. He turns his head around, smiling at the young Ravenclaw. "Thanks, Cho. I appreciate it."

The Ravenclaw held her hand to her chest, giving a bright smile at him. "You're welcome, Cedric." Ch knew that Cedric was interested in Helena, but unlike the others, he saw her as a good person. She too admires her for that, even though her crush was interested in another girl. As long as Cedric's happy, she's happy.

Hermione and Ginny were at the library where the three of them would hang out. "I know that Dumbledore said that he and the Ministry will be looking into Helena's disappearance but…"

"You can't sit still knowing that You-Know-Who might have her." Hermione assumes that's what the red-haired girl was saying.

Ginny nodded, concerned that was the reason why Helena disappeared without notice. "Y-Yeah,"

Hermione sighs, understanding her plight. "I'm worried too, Ginny. But I don't think that was the case." She pulled out a letter from her bag. "Yesterday, Hedwig came to me delivering this letter." The Muggle-born handed over the letter so her friend could look at it.

The young Gryffindor saw the letter, she opened it and quickly read it. She looks up at Hermione after a quick read, "Ruins? Hermione, you don't think that Helena would search for this ruin." Ginny asked,

"I find it the reasonable choice due to the sudden news of being handed off to an arranged marriage." Hermione stated before looking at Ginny, "Not saying that your family is bad or anything-"

"No, I get it. Ron can be self-centered and selfish," Ginny admits, not sure how her older brother got to that point. Then her eyes widen, realizing where they are, "So the main reason we're in the library is to search for this ruin that was written in the letter?"

Hermione nodded, standing from her seat. "Yes, I've been looking through this section again for this ruin that the letter spoke of, but nothing came up." The smartest Gryffindor explains, already going through the section many times before. "Maybe someone outside of my interest would help search for it."

Ginny understood what Hermione was asking her to do. "I can do that, Hermione." She stands up with her friend, "So, where do we start?" She asked.

The bushy-haired girl turns to the end of the History section. "Where the books of ruins are,"

The two girls started reading through the sections of ancient ruins, and after what seemed to be an hour or so they found nothing.

"Nothing," Hermione slams the book on the desk, frustrated that they haven't found anything remotely to the description in the letter. "Absolutely nothing regarding a ruin that takes you somewhere."

Ginny puts back the book she was reading on the shelf. "Nothing about a ruin in the Forbidden Forest either," She turns to her friend, seeing she too didn't find anything. "Do you think this person who wrote to Helena lied to her?"

The bushy-haired Gryffindor sighs, probably that was the case. "Maybe, no matter where we look there's nothing about ruins in the Forbidden Forest-"

"Ruins in the Forbidden Forest?" The two girls turned around, hearing a smooth voice coming from behind them.

"C-Cedric." Both Hermione and Ginny were surprised to see the most popular boy in Hogwarts here in the library. "W-What are you doing here?" Ginny asked, still shocked to see the Hufflepuff.

Cedric places his hand behind his neck, a bit embarrassed to even say his reason for being here. "H-Hermione, Ginny, I-I want to confirm something about Helena Potter."

The two girls looked at each other before looking back at Cedric. Both are very aware that he has a crush on her, every time they were at the Great Hall, they caught Cedric looking at her. He looked like he wanted to say something to her but was unable to.

They nodded, feeling like Cedric is a trustworthy person for keeping secrets. "Alright, but please…please don't spread it like a certain person," Hermione begged, not wanting an issue like Ron spreading the word that he and Helana are engaged.

"Don't worry, I also heard about the engagement," Cedric stated, not liking how the red-haired boy flaunts around that he's marrying the Girl-Who-lived. "I want to know if she really disappeared or not and that engagement was the reason."

"That's what we've believed. It's the most obvious reason," Ginny stated, confirming what the Hufflepuff said was true, "But we also might know where she might've gone to."

Cedric nodded, keeping his lips shut. "I won't tell a soul; you can trust me." He swore to the two.

Hermione steps forward, "Okay, so to bring you up to speed." She showed the bronze-haired boy the letter, "This letter was given to Helena, it spoke of a ruin in the Forbidden Forest that takes people to other places."

Ginny nodded, "We've looked at the History books in the history section, but nothing has turned up." The red-haired girl explains to Cedric their findings only to find nothing.

Cedric nodded, reading the letter closely to find keywords within the letter. The word he found was 'legend' which instantly knew where to look. He looks at the girls, "Have you searched through the Mythology section?" He asked,

"Mythology? Why should we look there?" Hermione asked, seeing that's an odd place to search for answers to Ruins in the Forbidden Forest. "It's filled with myths and other things that came from other cultures."

Ginny's mind suddenly clicked, now looking back at the letter. "It does say legends, Hermione. So maybe we're looking in the wrong place." The red-haired girl stated.

Hermione was skeptical, though now that think of it, the Chamber of Secrets was considered a legend in the school. She ponders before ultimately giving that a shot, they read everything in this section. "Alright, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try." She obliges,

Cedric leads the girls to the Mythology section, they started to read each book trying to find any reference to the ruins.

After another few hours of searching, Cedric found something promising. "Hey, I think I got something!" He called out to the girls.

Ginny looks up from her book next to him and Hermione almost takes out another book to read. "What is it, Cedric?" Hermione asked, coming over to him.

"Listen to this," The Hufflepuff cleared his throat, reading the page.

"Many years ago, there was a being hatched from an egg. This creator was powerful as such and created three others under him. These three controlled the aspects of Time, Space, and Anti-Matter thus creating Worlds."

Ginny looks at Cedric, a bit confused about where this was leading. "What does this have to do with Helena's disappearance?" She asked.

Cedric looks at the red-haired girl. "I'll get there,"

"The being that created the three went on and created life in the Worlds they created. However, a World was unable to breed life and no matter what he does, nothing happened as such he devised a plan."

"Using his powers, he created a mirror that allows ten beings to cross the Dimension barrier. He gifted each one an aspect of himself to aid him to create life, with life created he discovered without the beings life would perish and as such left them here to maintain order."

Hermione and Ginny were shocked to hear the similarities between the Myth and the letter they have. "The mirror, that must be what Helena was searching for." Hermione stated, "She must've gone to another World!"

Ginny nodded, seeing an opportunity here. "If we find this ruin with this mirror, we can see Helena." She smiles excitedly. She looks at Cedric, curious about where the exact location of this ruin is. "Cedric, does the book tell us where this ruin is in the Forest?" She asked.

Cedric looks at both Hermione and Ginny, hating to rain down their parade. "Girls, even if we were able to find the location (Which doesn't state) there's another problem if we do find that ruin." The bronze-haired boy said, returning to the book.

"What sort of problem are we talking about?" Hermione asked, halting their small celebration.

Cedric cleared his throat and continued reading the book.

"Before the being left this World, he had another create two beings to act as the mirror's Guardians. These two Giants, one with eyes crossed signifies Death and one with eyes of a Pure Magic. These two Guardians won't hesitate to eliminate those not chosen by the creator."

Both Hermione and Ginny looked at each other hearing that something was guarding the mirror. However, this pops a question in their minds.

"How was Helena able to get past the two Guardians?"
