Ch 37 The Elite Four Pt 1
(Insert Pokemon Journeys 2019 OST Vol. 2 World Championships)
The day was sunny, there were perfect amounts of clouds in the sky and no signs of rainfall. The sun was shining, the air was fresh, and the crowd was cheering for the upcoming Battle in the Pokemon League.
"The day has finally arrived; after many trainers came together and Battle it out in the Evergrande Conference. Only one came up on top." The Commentator announced to the excited crowds. "This trainer now has the right to challenge the Pokemon League's Elite Four!"
The cheers from the crowd grew
The cheers from the crowd grew, growing excited from the wait for an epic Battle soon. "Now before the Battle between the Challenger and the first Elite Four, a word from the Chairwoman of the Pokemon League." The Commentator announced the arrival of a white-haired, tan woman who approached the center of the Battlefield.
The Rotom Drones circle around the Battlefield, capturing the image of the Chairwoman to project on screen. "Greetings everyone and welcome to the Pokemon League's Champion League." Blanche greeted the audience. "The Champion League is where the victor of the Evergrande Conference will have the right to challenge the Elite Four once he or she defeats all four. They will have the chance to challenge the current Champion and might take the title of Champion."
"As the Chairwoman of the Pokemon League, it's been my duty to referee the Battles in the Champion League and congratulate the victor," Blanche announced, smiling at the drones. "Before I announce the first round, let me explain how the Champion League works."
Blanche motions the Rotom Drones to turn and face the four towers around the Stadium. The monitor on each side of the Stadium showed four squares with each of the Towers. "Each Tower is where the Elite Four resides, upon the round start, those towers will rotate to the respective Elite Four for the Challengers to face."
Back in the audience, Helena leans toward Jackie feeling confused by the explanation. "Do you get what she is saying, Jackie?" Helena asked.
"The Chairwoman is saying that the Towers will rotate whenever Steven defeats one Elite Four member," Jackie explains to the former Witch. "Once he defeats all of the Elite Four, the Champion Tower will pave the way for the current Champion for him to Battle."
"Really? How does that work, the rotating Towers I mean." The black-haired girl asked, holding onto her Partner.
Jackie smirks, turning his attention back to the Battlefield. "The only thing is to see for yourself." He said with a smile.
Back on the Battlefield, Blanche snaps her finger causing the Rotom Drones to turn back on her. Her face appeared back on the Monitors. "Now that I explain how the Champion League works, allow me to reintroduce the victor of the Evergrande Conference, the heir of the Devon Corporation."
The white-haired woman motions her arms to the left side of the Battlefield, "Please welcome, Steven Stone!" Blanche announced the arrival of the Steel-blue haired boy.
The Rotom Drones faced the left side of the Stadium, exiting the tunnel as Steven walks out in the same outfit as yesterday. He no longer wears his band with his Number on his shoulder,
"GO STEVEN!" Helena shouted from the audience,
"KIRLIA! KIRLIA!" Kirlia held her hands over her mouth, cheering for the soon-to-be Champion.
"SHOW THEM WHO'S BOSS, STEVEN!" Flannery joined in with the former Witch's cheering.
"DON'T YOU DARE BACK OUT NOW, DUDE!" Brawly punched the air,
Roxanne and Jackie smiled at each other, seeing their friends were excited just as everyone around them. They too are excited however they were a bit calmer than everyone else.
Steven stood on the platform, waving at the crowd watching him. 'This is it, Steven. The moment you've been training for,' The Steel-blue haired boy, looks at the Chairwoman, ready to Battle the first Elite Four member.
Blanche nodded, facing the two Rotom Drones in front of her. "For his first Opponent…" She snapped her fingers,
The Stadium began to shake, causing some to panic a bit. Everyone gaze at the towers, starting to rotate to where the right side of the Battlefield, where stairs appeared from the platform to the top of the tower.
The Rotom Drones faced the Dark Tower, showing who was coming out.
Bright red lights lit the way as the windows of the Dark Tower opened, A silhouette appeared on top of the stairs, was a young man wearing a black shirt with the top few buttons open, maroon pants, and black shoes. His maroon hair was receding, giving a flame-like tuff.
"What's up my people!" The man shouted, pumping up his hand in the air.
The crowd cheered for the man descending from the Tower. Soon enough, the man now stood on the platform and faced the young Challenger. "So, Kid, you're the winner of the Evergrande Conference am I right?" The man's maroon eyes stare at Steven.
"That's right," Steven looked at the first Elite Four he was going to Battle. "And I'm going to beat you,"
"Nice, very nice." The Elite Four nodded, smirking at the confident Challenger. "I like that spunk you have there, Kid." He said, placing his thumb on his chest.
"The name's Sidney of the Elite Four, I specialize in Dark-type Pokemon." Sidney introduced himself to the Challenger before him.
Steven nodded, "I'm Steven Stone, and I'm going to become the next Hoenn Champion!" He said confidently, leaving an impression on the Dark-type trainer.
Sidney chuckles before laughing loudly. "That's it! Your spunk is something every Champion must have!" He grabs onto the Pokeball on his belt, ready to toss it onto the field.
Steven promptly took out one of his Pokeball in response. "Well thank you, Sidney."
Blanche walks over to the Referee platform; she cleared her throat before announcing the rules of the Champion League. "This Battle in the Champion League will be a continuous one, for the trainer if he is able to defeat Sydney the next one shall take his place."
"Each trainer will use up to four Pokemon each, like the Evergrande Conference, if the Challenger loses he has to rechallenge the League again from the start." The white-haired woman announced the rules of the Battle. "Now, bring out your first Pokemon!"
(Insert Battle! Hoenn Elite Four: Sidney - Pokémon Masters EX)
Sidney tossed his Pokeball in the air, capturing it before it fell. "Mightyena! The stage is yours!" He pulls back his arm and tossed his Pokeball onto the field.
The Pokeball released a black and grey canine-like Pokemon with red eyes. Mightyena howls, ready to Battle/
Steven held his Pokeball, extending his arm to release his first Pokemon. "Cradily, let's go!"
The Pokeball released Cradily onto the field, "Cray!"
"Battle Begin!" Blanche lowered her arms, indicating the start of the Battle.
Challenger Steven Stone vs Elite Four Sidney
"Cradily, Ingrain then Power Whip!" Steven made the first move and the Battle went from there.
Cradily has implanted herself onto the Battlefield, her tendrils glowing green before extending at the Dark-type Pokemon.
Mightyena dodged the attack, retaliating with Snarl.
Cradily took damage, however, it wasn't enough to bring her down. With Ingrain in place, she regained a bit of health from the Ingrain.
Steven and Cradily return the attack with a Mudshot, however, Mightyena used Iron Tail to deflect the attack.
Sidney held out his hand, taking the advantage of the small moment by having his Pokemon use Ice Fang in retaliation.
Cradily used Mudshot multiple times to counter, hitting the Bite Pokemon.
Mightyena fell back onto the Battlefield, landing on his paws. Before Sidney orders his Pokemon to use Snarl following up with Ice Fang.
Steven quickly acted, holding out his hand, and ordered Cradily to counter the Ice-type Move with Mudshot.
Mightyena swiftly dodged each one Mudshot before leaping once he got close enough. The Dark-type Pokemon bites down on Cradily, freezing her over.
The Elite Four member then ordered a powerful Iron Tail to finish off the Fossil Pokemon. Steven called back Cradily and took out his next Pokemon. "Aggron, you're up!" He tosses his Pokeball onto the field, releasing the Iron Armor Pokemon.
Aggron roars, ready to Battle for his Partner.
Mightyena leaps for an attack with an Ice Fang,
Aggron counters it with an Iron Tail that throws him back where he stood. He charges in with Smart Strike that strikes the Dark-type Pokemon at a vital point.
The Battle continued with Sidney calling back Mightyena and sending out Cacturne,
Both Steven and Sidney relayed orders to their Pokemon, dishing out powerful attacks at each other.
Cacturne used Focus Punch, punching Aggron in the face. However, an effective move was still not enough to bring down the Duel-type.
The Armor Pokemon retaliated the attack by using Blizzard,
The Grass/Dark-type Pokemon was frozen in place, giving Aggron the opportunity to attack.
Steven had Aggron use Iron Tail to break the ice encasing the Scarecrow Pokemon, following up with a Body Slam.
The Scarecrow Pokemon was unable to Battle, with two Pokemon left Sidney still continues.
He sent out his second to the last Pokemon, the Wicked Pokemon, Shiftry a Grass/Dark-type Pokemon.
Sidney isn't pulling any punches with this Battle, though they were tied in terms of Pokemon; he still has a trick in his sleeves.
With a quick Brick Break, Shiftry was able to take down Aggron,
Steven promptly called back Aggron and sent out Skarmory to deal with the Duel-type Pokemon. With the Type Advantage over Shiftry Skarmory was able to bring down him with ease.
"Shiftry return!" Sidney called back his Pokemon,
A red beam of light hurls toward Shiftry, returning him inside his Pokeball.
Steven huffs, wiping the sweat from his forehead. Skarmory landed on the Battlefield, she turns to him, nodding that she can continue.
"If that's what you want, Skarmory." Steven looks at Sidney, seeing he's ready to continue their match.
"You're good to go, kid?" The Dark-type trainer asked the young Challenger.
The Steel-blue haired boy chuckles, rolling his shoulders. "Skarmory isn't tired, and neither am I." He stated, ready for his final Pokemon.
Sidney took out his last Pokeball, the one that contains his Partner. "If you say you're ready, then let's rock out!" The maroon haired tosses his Pokeball in the air before catching it. "Absol the stage is yours!"
The Elite Four member tosses his Pokeball onto the field, releasing a white dog-like Pokemon with one large horn protruding from the side.
"Absol!" The Disaster Pokemon roars, ready to face the Challenger's Skarmory.
Steven looks at the Armor Bird Pokemon, "Ready, girl?" He asked,
Skarmory nodded, folding out her wings. "Then use Drill Peck!" A blueish aura surrounds the Duel-type's beak as she charges in for an attack.
Sidney held out his hand, acting quickly. "Absol, my friend! Counter it with a Shadow Claw!" The Elite Four shouted.
"Absol!" The Dark-type Pokemon dashed forward, his claws took on a shadowy aura. He leaps forward, scratching Skarmory and dodging her Drill Beak.
Skarmory flinched, taking on damage. "Quick, Aerial Ace, Skarmory!" Steven shouted.
The Duel-type spun in the air, repositioning herself as her wings took a glowing blue color. She dove down, having Absol in her sight.
Sidney grins, swiping his hand to the side. "Absol, shockwave!" He cried out.
Absol leaps in the air, and his horn generates electricity. "Ab…" He moves his head to the side, before releasing a wave of electricity at the Armor Bird Pokemon.
"Skarmory!" The Steel-blue haired trainer cried out, seeing that attack paralyze his Pokemon. Sidney quickly took the opportunity to attack,
"Finish her with a Psycho Cut!" The Elite Four ordered his Partner.
"Absol!" The Dark type's horn began to take on a pinkish hue, he slashed above Skarmory and sent a pinkish slash at her.
The Psycho Cut hurled at Skarmory, exploding upon contact. The Duel-type fell to the ground, indicating that she has fallen.
Steven steps forward, seeing through the dust cloud. "Skarmory, are you alright?" He asked, knowing too well that she has been defeated.
Upon the dust cloud clearing, Skarmory has spirals in her eyes indicating she's unable to Battle. Steven sighs as the crowd cheered for Sidney's victory.
"Well done, Skarmory." Steven held out his Pokemon's Pokeball, calling her back to rest.
Absol returned to Sidney's front, ready for Steven's last Pokemon. "Well, this is it, Kid," Sidney said to his Challenger. "Both of us have one last Pokemon to go. Are you ready to bring them out?" He asked.
Back on the stand, Steven's friends are watching the Battle intensely. This was the final hurdle before facing the Champion of the Hoenn Region.
"Steven's last Pokemon is his Metagross, right?" Jackie asked the group.
Roxanne nodded, "Yes, but it'll be tricky with the Type Advantage Sidney has." The brunette girl stated.
Brawly crosses his arms, confident in his friend that he could defeat the Dark-type trainer. "I don't think that's a problem for Steven." The Sky-blue haired trainer stated. "Steven will have something that will surprise us all."
"You got that right, Brawls." Flannery agreed with the young surfer.
"But still, Metagross knows Psychic-type Moves. Those aren't effective against Absol." Roxanne commented, seeing the disadvantage Steven has. "The only moves he could use are other moves,"
Helena looks at her brunette friend, smiling at her. "Steven will come out in the end, I just know it."
"Kirlia!" Kirlia agreed with her Partner, trusting what she says.
Back on the Battlefield, Steven took out his Partner's Pokeball. He looks at Sidney, placing his hands on his side. "This is the most fun I ever had," He stated, moving his hand to the side. "All right, Metagross. It's your turn to shine!"
He extends his arm, releasing the Pokeball onto the Battlefield. The Pokeball released Metagross, slamming onto the field. "Meta!" The Iron Leg Pokemon cried out.
Sidney tilts his head up, impressed to see a unique Metagross in the Challenger's team. "A Shiny Metagross, color me surprise." The Dark-type trainer admits, "Even if you have a Pokemon in a different color, that doesn't mean anything to me."
"We'll see about that," Steven stated, "Metagross is my Partner and the strongest in my team."
"All right then!" Sidney raised his voice, liking the spark he was witnessing. "Let's test that theory!"
Sidney held out his hand to his Partner, "Absol, let's do some real damage!" he stated. "Brutal Swing, let's go!" The Dark-type trainer announced.
"Absol!" The Dark-type leaps into action, his horn took on a dark aura and grew larger. He leaps forward, aiming to swing the effective move on the Duel-type.
However, he disappeared in a flash. Absol landed, searching for Metagross.
Metagross appeared at the center of the Battlefield, "Absol, at the center!" Sidney cried out. "Brutal Swing again!"
Absol dashed forward, trying the same move again. Like before, Metagross's fast speed was able to dodge the attack.
Sidney growls, seeing how fast Metagross was. 'What gives, I've never seen a Metagross move s fast.' The man ponders before ordering a different move.
"Forget the Brutal Swing, use Psycho Cut multiple times!" Sidney ordered his Partner,
Absol nodded, shaking off the Brutal Swing and going for a Psycho Cut. He swung his head in every direction, trying to land a hit.
Steven chuckles, placing his hand on his side. "Metagross is one of the fastest Pokemon I know," He said, smirking at the Elite Four member. "Now, use Meteor Mash!"
"Meta!" The Duel-type appeared behind Absol, still deploying waves of Psycho Cuts. Metagross's arm took on a metallic color and propels it at the Dark-type Pokemon.
The Meteor Mash burst through the many Psycho Cuts. Metagross's arm punched Absol, causing him to roll over to his side of the Battlefield.
Absol gritted his teeth, getting up after taking the Meteor Mash. "A-Absol,"
"Absol, way to go hanging in there!" Sidney cried, proud of his Partner hanging on. He held out his hand, "Let's show this Challenger what an Elite Four Pokemon is about! Brutal Swing, full power!"
"Absol!" Absol howls, his horn taking on the same dark aura as before, he leaps forward, dashing right for Metagross.
Steven reacted quickly, "Metagross, dodge, and Meteor Mash again!" The young trainer ordered his Partner.
Metagross acted according to his trainer's order. He dodges the Disaster Pokemon's attack and uses Meteor Mash once again.
However, Absol twisted his body and swung his horn at Metagross's arm. Both Moves collided causing an explosion,
The two returned to their trainer's sides, coming out unscathed from the attacks.
"You've trained your Pokemon well, Kid." Sidney played with his tuff of hair, praising how tough his Metagross was.
"The same goes for your Absol, his Dark-type Moves can be a major blow to my Metagross." Steven returned the praise back to the Elite Four Member. "If I weren't careful, my Journey will end right here."
Sidney chuckles, moving the guitar case from his back to the ground. "That means a lot, Kid." The Dark-type trainer released the latches on the case, taking out his guitar and the pick. "I acknowledge your strength, and you earned my respect."
Steven has a feeling about what will happen next, "Now I believe I should go all out after seeing your strength." The maroon-haired man stated, raising his pick on the other hand.
He twists the guitar pick, revealing a Key Stone embedded into it.
"A Key Stone," Steven grins, knowing that the Elite Four will use Mega Evolution.
Sidney grins, looking at his Partner. "Absol!"
Absol looks back at his Partner, nodding for him to proceed with what he's planning. "Absol,"
The Dark-type trainer raised his hand with the pick and strum the strings on his guitar, causing a rainbow light to disburse. "Mega Evolve!"
"AABBBSSSOOOLLL!" The Disaster Pokemon howls as his body is engulfed in a rainbow light. Absol's body grew, sprouting a pair of fur-like wings and another horn.
The light disbursed, and the Mega Evolution symbol appeared before Absol then disappeared.
The crowd grew excited for another Mega Evolution Battle,
Steven smirks, seeing a Mega Absol for the first time. "So that's a Mega Absol, beautiful." The young trainer said, reaching for his stock. "Then I also have to respond to your show of strength, Sidney."
The young trainer planted a kiss on his Key Stone, "Sparkling stone, give our Bond form!" He said, "Metagross…" Steven aims his Mega stock toward his Partner.
"Mega Evolve!"
