Ch 64 The Answer to a Problem
Helena looks around the living room of Drayden's home. It was quaint and decorated like how she assumes a Mayor's home should look.
The Living room was painted white, though the home was built like it was from the Medieval Age. However, the interior was a Modern take, with a soft black sofa, a glass coffee table, and some soft chairs around it.
There were some photos such as Drayden visiting a small Village and shaking the hand of the Chief of the Village. The next photo was in black and white of Drayden when he was younger when he became the Gym Leader.
"This is a nice home you have, Mr. Drayden." Helena politely compliments the décor the Mayor has in his home.
Drayden smiles, returning to the living room with some refreshments for his guests. He heard the young Researcher's compliment and smiles under his beard. "Thank you, Ms. Potter," The Gym Leader responded to Helena's compliment.
He handed her and Adam some cups of water after their Journey from Nacrene City to Opelucid City. "Here, you two must be thirsty after a long Journey to Opelucid City," Drayden said, watching his two guests take two cups.
"Thank you, Drayden." Adam appreciated the Mayor's hospitality towards him and his Apprentice.
Drayden took his seat beside the two and Iris. "I hear from Alder not too long ago." He closes his eyes, remembering the news the Champion brought to him. "Team Plasma has awakened the Dragon of Truth…a concerning situation indeed." He sighs,
"We also heard that you and Hilda were the first to see the Leader of Team Plasma," Iris commented, looking at Helena with concern. "How are you doing after that ordeal?"
Helena looks down at the water Drayden gave her, she then smiles "The first time I met N was when I arrived in the Unova Region." She said,
Iris almost jumps out of her seat, hearing that Helena has encountered the so-called King of Team Plasma. "Wait, you have met the Leader of Team Plasma!?"
"AXEW!?" Axew and his purple-haired exclaim that Helena has met Team Plasma's Leader in person.
Drayden glares at his young Apprentice for abruptly getting up and shouting in his home. "Iris, please calm down." The Dragon master asked the purple-haired girl to quiet down.
"Sorry, Drayden." Iris chuckles, scratching the back of her head. She sat back down in her seat and asked Helena about her meeting with the King of Team Plasma. The purple-haired aspiring Dragon master looks at Helena, asking about her first interactions with the green-haired trainer.
"Axew…" The Tusk Pokemon apologizes to the old man
Iris then turns her attention to her black-haired friend, "Helena, when you first met N, what do you think of him?" The aspiring Dragon master asked Helena, curious what her opinion was.
Axew nodded, also wanting to know about Helena and N's interaction. "Axew, Ax!"
The two Adults in the room listen in to what Helena has to say about the young green-haired man.
Helena smiles, remembering the first time he met N, "When I first met N, we were looking for Team Plasma who stole Bianca's Munna." She retold how he met the Leader of Team Plasma. "I met him when we were separated in the park. He pointed to where you went and thanked him."
"After that, we met a few times, talking about Pokemon and People. Research on my part and his views on Pokemon and People." Helena smiles, remembering those times, "
"From what he said, did you suspect he was Team Plasma's King, Helena?" Iris asked, sensing that she didn't know until the Dragonspiral Tower incident.
Helena gave a soft smile at her friend. "Just an inkling feeling, but I didn't expect him to be the Leader or King." She sighs, drinking her Water.
"But what do you think of him? Like if he's a bad person or a good one?" Iris asked her fellow Ability User.
Helena ponders, remembering each time they have met. He was always concerned about her and when she met N at Dragonspiral Tower, he was genuinely troubled and hurt when she discovered the Truth.
She already had her opinion about him; with all, she witnessed with N. "N is…a troubled person. He genuinely cares for People and Pokemon, but he is warped with the beliefs of Team Plasma thinking it was his own…" Helena said,
"What you said about that young man…" Drayden spoke, gaining the attention of Helena as she looked at him. He folded his hands, closing his eyes. "Is exactly how I perceive him when I met him." The Dragon master commented.
Adam and Helena look at the Mayor, already meeting the King of Team Plasma. "Do you mean that N has already come here already?" The blue and blonde-haired Professor asked the Mayor.
Drayden nodded, answering the young Professor's question. "Yes indeed, even though he's the Leader of Team Plasma. My duty as Gym Leader can't be swayed once he challenged me." The Dragon master answers Adam's question.
"If you don't mind, Mr. Drayden…" Drayden's yellow eyes gaze over to Helena, hearing her voice. "Can you explain further what N was like to you?" She asked,
The Dragon master saw the worry in her eyes about his Challenger. "The trainer you know as N despite being the Leader of Team Plasma, he is quite strong. He's very in tune with his Pokemon, understanding each other as they can talk to one another." Drayden explains his experience with N. "I guess that N is an Ability User just like Iris here and you, Ms. Potter."
"Out of the trainers I have faced, he's the toughest by far," Drayden commented, remembering the recent Battle.
Adam nodded, listening to Drayden describe his experience with the green-haired trainer. "It must be tough, considering he's using a Legendary Pokemon on his Team." The Professor commented.
"Actually, he didn't use Reshiram during the Gym Battle," Iris spoke out, being there to witness the Battle between Challenger and Gym Leader.
"Axew," The Dragon-type nodded, confirming what his Partner saw was true.
Both Helena and Adam were surprised that N didn't use the Dragon of Truth during the Gym Battle. "N didn't use Reshiram in your Gym Battle with him?" Adam asked the old man.
Drayden nodded as Helena commented. Helena sighs, taking a sip of water, "It makes sense, N isn't going to cheat his way by using a Pokemon powerful above the rest." Helena commented,
"Yes, the Pokemon or his friends as he called is the only ones that Battle me." The Dragon master said, "There's also something I took notice of N,"
"Something else?" Adam asked, curious about what the Mayor saw regarding N.
"During our Gym Battle, even though he's focused on the Battle, however, his mind is off somewhere," Drayden explains what he observed when he faced the King of Team Plasma. "Like something not too long ago is still lingering in his head." The Dragon master commented.
Helena probably knew what Drayden was talking about. 'Probably N still is thinking of my refusal to join him rather hard.' She ponders, thinking that was the reason why N was distracted during the Gym Battle.
Drayden then cleared his throat, moving on from the current topic. "Anyways, let's get to the reason why you're here," The Mayor stated,
Adam nodded, looking at his Apprentice, "Helena, the Dark Stone if you would." He asked,
"R-Right," Helena flinched, being brought back from her train of thought. She moves her bag from her side to her lap, opening the latch gently.
She then carefully took out the Dark Stone from her bag and showed it to the Dragon-type trainers before them. "Here, I was careful not to hit it on something," Helena informed the two,
Iris smiles, looking at the slumbering Pokemon. She and Axew smile at the Dark Stone in her hands, "So that's the Dark Stone I heard so much about," She commented.
"Axew…" The Tusk Pokemon nodded, feeling like he was meeting his Ancestor,
The purple-haired girl placed her hand on the Stone, "This is definitely Zekrom sleeping." Iris smiles, looking at Helena. "I never thought in my life I could touch the Legendary Dragons who founded Unova."
"I know, it still amazes me that this is actually a Legendary Pokemon," Helena added, sharing her feelings with her fellow Ability User.
Adam smiles at Helena for socializing with Drayden's Apprentice. He watches as Iris moves away, letting her Mentor take a look at the Dark Stone.
Drayden took a good look at the Dark Stone, finding it curious. "Drayden, do you have any insights on how to awaken Zekrom from his hibernation?" Adam asked the person who knows about the Dragons of Unova.
"Unfortunately, I do not." Drayden gave a solemn answer, unable to give a solution to their situation. "I have read and explored many things related to Dragon-type Pokemon; even the Legend of the Hero of Unova. Nothing that I discovered relates to the awakening of the Legendary Dragons."
"I see…" Adam's smile dropped a bit, disappointed that they have come here only with no answer.
Helena noticed that her Mentor was down in the dumps. She quickly thought of a plan to cheer him up before remembering that this City is a City, and where's a City, there must be… "Mr. Drayden, is there a Library in Opelucid City?" She asked,
Drayden nodded, looking at the black-haired girl. "Of course, Opelucid City is known for its rich History." The Mayor answers Helena's question, "If you're suggesting that checking the Library might shed some light on how to awaken Zekrom. Then, by all means, go for it,"
Adam quickly interjects, adding his thoughts to Helena's suggestion. "That sounds good and all, Helena. But I don't want you to go out in the City by yourself," The blue and blonde-haired Professor stated, worried for her safety.
"But that's not to say that you can have someone accompany you." Adam gazes over to Iris, hoping she'll accompany her.
Iris got up from her seat, smiling at the two Researchers. "I'll come with you!" The purple-haired trainer announced, wanting to help however she can. "I can be with Helena while she goes to the Opelucid Library. I may not like being indoors that much, but I'm willing to do my part to help."
Helena was grateful for Iris offering her help. "Thank you, Iris."
A few minutes later, Iris, Axew, and Helena stood at the Opelucid Library after leaving Drayden's home. The two men were going to examine the Dark Stone to see what else could awaken the sleeping Zekrom within.
The black-haired girl turns to her friend, to see if she's ready to go inside. "Iris, ready to go?" Helena asked,
Iris held her hands up, nodding her head. "Yeah, let's find us some answers!"
"Axew!" Axew held his claws cheerfully and commented on the statement.
The three enter the large Library, searching for anything to wake the Dragon of Ideals. Helena has brought out Kirlia to help search in the collection of books the Library has.
A few minutes into reading the books in the Library regarding the Legendary Dragons,
Kirlia held three books, stacked in her arms. "Kirlia," She lifts the stack of books to her Partner with a smile.
Helena gratefully took the books Kirlia gave to her. "Thank you Kirlia, I appreciate your assistance." She opens one of them, only to sigh at the same contents as the other books regarding the Legendary Hero of Unova.
Iris hung upside down from the ladder she was sitting on. "Find anything, Helena?" She looks at the black-haired girl next to her.
"No, it's the same as the others I've read." Helena gently placed the book in her hand to the side, before taking another. "It's all about the Legends of the Twin Heroes and which Dragon they once partnered up with."
Kirlia nodded, looking down at the final book she had in hand. "Kirlia," She was hoping that the next two books would have the answers they seek.
Iris jumps down, taking the other book from Kirlia's hands. "I'll help too, I got nothing from my end of the shelf." The aspiring Dragon master commented, searching through the book she has.
Axew leaps out of Iris's hair, joining Kirlia in searching for more books about the Legend of the Twin Heroes.
A few more hours later, they still hadn't found any reference to waking Zekrom. "Nothing, there's nothing about awakening Zekrom from his hibernation." Helena sighs, a bit frustrated that there wasn't anything regarding the answer they were searching for.
"I know, maybe the Librarian has something that could be useful for our search." Iris stood up from the floor, turning in the direction of the Reception desk. "I'll be right, just stay here."
Iris looks at her Partner, standing with Kirlia. "Come on, Axew."
"Axew!" The Tusk Pokemon ran over to the aspiring Dragon master, climbing into her hair.
Helena smiles at Iris and Axew leaving for the Reception desk for information. She turns back to Kirlia, staring back at her. "Well, I guess we're on our own for now, Kirlia." She smiles at her Partner,
The Duel-type nodded, sitting next to Helena as she read more about the Legendary Pokemon.
A few moments later, Helena didn't find anything remotely related to waking the Dragon Pokemon. She places down her book, "Who knew there's little information about Zekrom and Reshiram other than the Heroes."
"Kirlia…" The Emotion Pokemon nodded before sensing someone coming over to them. She looks to the side, seeing a familiar face. "Kirlia!"
"Hmm? What is it Kirlia?" Helena looks at her Partner before looking up at the person standing above them.
"Well, I should've known where there's a Library you would be here, my friend." A male's voice caught the attention of the young Ability User.
Helena stands up, smiling at the blonde man before them. "Wyscan, what are you doing here? The last time I saw you was on Route Sixteen." She commented,
Wyscan chuckles, placing his hand on his chin. "Yes, it has been a while since we last met. Speaking of our last meeting, did you catch one of the Petililies in Lostlorn Forest?" The blonde Researcher asked.
"Yes, I did." She showed Petilili's Pokeball to Wyscan who just smiled. "Wonderful, you know Petililies were abundant in Hisui, though they aren't around anymore."
"I know, I read about it in my Journal," Helena commented before Wyscan noticed the stacks of books about Unova's Legendary Dragons.
"Oh? What's this, you're now researching the Legend of the Twin Heroes?" Wyscan asked, taking note of the book titles.
Helena turns to the books beside her and answers her fellow Researcher. "Yeah, I'm sure you heard that Team Plasma is spreading their beliefs throughout the Region." The Ability User informed her friend,
Wyscan nodded, hearing about it through his travels in Unova. "Ah yes, I heard about them." He said, "I also heard that the Leader of Team Plasma has achieved only a few had," He raised his eyebrow at the young Researcher, curious about what she was doing. "Say, why are you researching the Legend of the Twin Heroes?" Wyscan asked Helena.
Helena was about to lie to the blonde Researcher when she realize his specialty is Region Mythology. "Hey, Wyscan, Professor Ceder, and the Mayor entrusted me with an assignment along with the Mayor's Apprentice." She stated.
"If you have any insights on…I don't know…" Helena gently rambles before speaking about what she needs from him. "How to awaken a Legendary Dragon from his hibernation?" She looks at the blonde Professor, being the last hope for one-upping Team Plasma.
Wyscan blinks at Helena, not expecting that sort of question from her. He lets out a small chuckle, humoring her and answering her question. "Well for starters, you need the right person that said Dragon represents. For example, the King of Team Plasma seeks the Truth."
The blonde Researcher crosses his arms, telling the black-haired girl what she seeks. "The King of Team Plasma's determination to find the Truth behind People and Pokemon has earned the respect of the Dragon of Truth."
"So in all," Wyscan held his finger in the air, telling her what she needed to awaken Zekrom. "You need someone who represents the same aspect as Zekrom. Someone who has a strong belief in their Ideals,"
Wyscan smirks at his young Researcher friend. "Was that helpful, Helena?" The blonde Researcher asked if this was a sufficient answer for her.
Helena immediately responded to Wyscan's question. "YES!" She exclaims before hearing the People shushing her to keep her voice down. She blushed before looking at the blonde Researcher, "Thank you, Wyscan; what you told me is very useful for stopping Team Plasma."
The young Researcher picks up Kirlia from the floor and into her arms. She looks at Wyscan, appreciating his help with their situation. "I better get Iris and head back to tell Mr. Drayden and Professor Ceder about the information you gave me," Helena spoke.
"Kirlia," Kirlia commented, thanking the blonde Researcher as well.
"Of course, good luck to you, my friend." Wyscan waved at Helena, heading off to search for the aspiring Dragon master.
Once Helena left, Wyscan picks up the books scattered around the floor. He smiles, taking a look at the contents for himself. "I do hope you succeed, my Friend, and awaken Zekrom." He chuckles to himself at a new Legend being born.
Helena and Kirlia have found Iris and Axew, informing them what Wyscan told them. They head back to Drayden's home, relaying the information to the two Adults.
Inside the Mayor's home, the girls informed both Adam and Drayden what they uncovered. "So, we need someone who has a strong belief in their own Ideals," Adam commented, taking note of what they needed to awaken Zekrom from his hibernation.
"That sounds reasonable," Drayden added, finding the condition to wake Zekrom. He looks at Helena and Iris, smiling under his beard, "Excellent work, you two."
"The credit should go to Helena." Iris motions her hands to her Friend, "She worked harder to find an answer to the problem." The purple-haired girl said,
"Axew," Axew nodded,
Helena scratches her cheeks, a bit embarrassed by the compliments. "I-It's nothing, I'm just doing my part to stop Team Plasma." The Ability User humbly said.
Adam smiles at his Apprentice, seeing this was nothing. "Don't be so modest, Helena. You remembered that Wyscan is an expert in Pokemon Mythology and use that to find the answer to wake Zekrom from his hibernation." The blonde and blue-haired Professor said, proud of her for her determination and hard work. "That's something you should be proud of."
Kirlia nodded, agreeing with the young Professor's statement. "Kirlia,"
Iris then raises her hand, "So, who is the most possible candidate for Zekrom?" The purple-haired girl asked the group.
"I think it's obvious," Helena said, knowing someone who fits the profile just right.
"Who do you have in mind, Ms. Potter?" Drayden asked,
Helena smiles, "Hilda,"
