Once I left the building, I decided to get onto the vehicle that me and Narleen shared. What was it? A bicycle for two, which I steered us to Monsters Inc and Narleen always walked home, since I usually biked Roxie home, since she took the taxi to work and her off time didn't have a good bus schedule. And upon arrival, a lot of different monsters said hi to me, including Marge, Jerry, and I also saw and said hi to Mike and Sully, them smiling as Mike then said hi to his love in Celia while Sully had his own crush. And who was it? It was none other than Carrie Williams, former head of PNK and almost always underneath 3rd place in the scorecard. And I didn't expect Sully to have a crush on her, but she'd matured a lot in the 5 years' time to be a very respectable woman, but still a very bubbly and friendly monster... while also being a terror on the scare floor.
"Ah, there she is!" Rosie smirked as she came over to me, which made me smile at her as she came over to me.
"How are ya, Rosie sweetums?" I asked her with a smirk.
"I'm just wondering if we could have a date after work tonight? You, me, Harryhausens for two," she said, me being surprised.
"Harryhausens?! It's impossible to get a reservation there, Celia's words, not mine," I said with surprise.
"Not for the head of Hiss," she smirked, me smiling at how she tickled under my chin while doing so. "After work is done, we're goin' there for 6:30," she said, me blushing at that.
"Okay, I'll meet here after work, then," I smirked, us then going to the locker rooms for the females, which was the only place where the female monsters could change into their scaring clothes. Why? Well, since most feminine monsters had actual lady parts, which included myself, Dusa, Carrie, and Rosie, we had to wear special clothes that could cover our bodies, but not at all show anything in the process and make it look like it was our basic exterior instead.
"So, be honest, how did you get the reservations, Rosie?" I asked with a curious smile.
"I called in a couple favors to some of our former friends at Monsters University. A couple of them have friends that work there, ya see," Rosie smirked at that. "Also, they're under the name Itchy Love," she said, me frowning at her and giving her a flick on the snozz.
"It better not be~," I trilled to her.
"It isn't, just a playful joke. It's actually under Bandifoot and Levin," she said, me nodding as I then had my locker slam out of nowhere, me then opening it... and then it slammed again... but here's the thing. No females other than me at MI was able to use camouflage, which concerned me... and then, the image that came after, I gasped and fell back onto the ground.
"Hehehe, whaddaya know? You talk a big game, but I can still scare ya," said the voice of mister sneaky Randal!
"What are you doing, you creep?! This is the girl's room, we can get you in a ton of trouble!" Rosie growled at him, knowing full well that he was responsible for the CDA to swarm MU that night.
"I've been hired as security, little ladies. Hired by the CDA to make sure no human stuff gets onto the scare floor," Randal said, me frowning at him, since he did have a badge saying he was now an offical CDA member.
"Well, good for you, but just know this much, you no-good snake," I growled as I then grabbed him by the neck, him gagging at that. "If you tell ANY. ONE. The same lies you spread at Monsters University. And I find out about it? You. Are. Dead. Meat. Got it?" I growled, him gulping and nodding before I then slammed him into the ground. "Now GET OUT OF THE GIRL'S ROOM!" I shouted, me winding up my foot and for Randal to run away super quick in an instant!
"What kind of rumors was he spreading about you at MU? I don't think I heard about that," asked Dusa as she appeared after the stuff happened, using her special power of slithering on the walls to her advantage.
"He tried to spread rumors that I was part human and, therefore, toxic and a danger hazard to everyone on campus. But we've been in physical contact almost every shift, so obviously it's a farce," I frowned.
"Yeesh, talk about a creep. Heard he got arrested for cheating and for a fake terror attack. How did the CDA hire him?" Rosie growled.
"No clue, but we need to keep our guard up. Last thing we need are spies listening in from afar," I frowned, them nodding at me as we then got ready for our work shift, with Rosie joining me in the Scare Hall and for Dusa to go ahead of me to talk to Roz. And I couldn't resist, I had to see what would happen between the two.
"Good morning, Roz, lovely weather today, isn't it? Who will we be scaring today?" Dusa asked as politely as possible, before Roz slammed her slimy hand onto her papers.
"Slitherson, you need to stop filling out everyone else's paperwork," Roz frowned at her.
"Oh, come on, Roz. I love to help people, and some of them are super forgetful. We can't let them forget about it, right?" Dusa asked, but Roz then looked at her closer.
"Don't let it happen again. Got it?" she said with an even more serious tone, which Dusa gulped at, as well as all the 7 snake heads of her hair.
"Y-Yes, well, uh... I'll try to stick to m-my own paperwork then, f-from now on, of course," Dusa said nervously as she took the paperwork and for Roz to then look at her from afar.
"I'm watchin' you, Slitherson. Always watching. ALWAYS!" she said, me knowing that was her catchphrase for anyone she had problems with... which was 99 percent of the population at Monsters Inc. But before the scaring happened, I had to talk to her one-on-one, which I then did so by appearing in front of her. "What do you want, Bandifoot?" she groaned at me.
"Listen, I'll cut right to the chase. I need information and I know you're the one to go to for that, Number 1 CDA," I whispered the last part, which she gawked at before then glaring at me.
"How do you know about that?" she asked.
"I recognized you from the Monsters University incident. You really need a more convincing voice for disguises," I frowned, her frowning at me.
"Fine. What do you want to know?" she frowned.
"Two things. One, I want to know how the heck Randal managed to get a position in the CDA as a spy, when he's the one who tried to incriminate me for being you-know-what that night," I frowned, her frowning.
"Isn't that right? Well, I'll just tell ya it's part of his rehabilitation. He's supposed to find out of a small scandal going on here, but we can't find a good lead yet," Roz frowned.
"And two, I need to ask if I can assist you in that investigation. Because I kind of have an idea of what it is," I frowned, Roz smirking at me instead of a frown for a change.
"If you know what it is, then why not tell me?" she asked.
"I said I have an idea, but it could be wrong. I need evidence before I do so, and I promise that, by the end of tomorrow, I will have that very evidence," I said, her smirking at me.
"I'll hold you to that. Until then, take this," she said, me then getting something that made me surprised. A signal jammer for the CDA's human DNA scanners. "I know who you really are, but we need to wait for that evidence before we can share the news," she said, me nodding at her. I felt I could trust her the most, even if she was nasty.
"Okay, thanks a million, Roz. I won't let ya down," I smirked as I then went back via camouflage to meet up with the other scarers, us then proceeding to do the walk to the Scare Floor, it being just as epic as the movie, me going to my partner in Dusa and me stretching in every manner, Sully doing the same, Mike putting in a contact lense that made his eye look bloodshot, and the like. As for Sully's canister girl? It was actually Marge while Mike's partner in scaring was a relative of Don, her being a squid-like monster that had just as thick of a body, tentacle arms, and hair on her head, but her hair was at the top of a very tall squid head and she had one eye in front and behind, her also having four feet on two legs, one to walk forward, and one backward for each side.
Carrie proceeded to do her signature hiss, her eyes changing color each time. Courtney slashed her killer claws against a piece of cardboard. Vincent slammed his face through a plank of plywood and moved his mouth open to smash it apart. Boris shined his horns with horn shine before then placing some tips of red at the top. And then the other monsters that actually had roles in the movie did their stuff after, consisting of George Sanderson, Bob Peterson (mister big teeth), and Claws Ward. And after we finished getting prepped, the current scorecards for the month showed up, with the order from 1st to 7th being Sully, me, Mike, Carrie, Rosie, Narleen, and Vincent at unlucky numebr 7. And of course, he was right next to me in the lineup of the doors.
"Hey, let the best monster win," I smiled at him.
"Which isn't you," he frowned at me with venom in his voice, me frowning at him and bucking up to get tough.
Once the scaring started, I managed to get up to the top with my first scare, followed by getting beat by Sully after his door was done. We kept this up for a good bit until we then finally saw the issue arise with a certain orange furred monster.
"2319! We have a 2319!" George's partner shouted, which made Jerry gasp and push the red alert button, causing the scene of the CDA to occur, where my new CDA machine from Roz protected me from their detection devices, while they got led to George, him being tackled as they took off the culpirt (a little girl's pink sock) and they then blew it up. And after that? I had to look away. George was shaved, showered, and then he had a piece of his skin ripped off from where the sock was. It was WAY too much for me to see in person, let alone on the tv screen!
"Okay, people, we gotta take a break. We need to shut down for half an hour to reset the system," Jerry said as the 'days without accident' screen went from 28 to 0.
"Oof, so close to having it accident free for a whole month..." I groaned at it.
"Ugh, what a day," Waternoose groaned as he got some gucky coffee, his favorite kind.
"Well, on the bright side, we're still on budget, despite the doors that are failing," I smiled at him as Waternoose sighed.
"Bandifoot, this company has been in my family for generations. I would do anything to keep it from going under," he frowned, me sighing at him.
"Yeah, got it," I frowned, needing to play the dumb game for just a bit longer.
"Say, I might be able to use your help with something," he smirked. "I've been hoping to get some new hires for the Scare Floor, but we're having a bit of a problem," he frowned.
"Is it the draft?" I asked.
"No, t-they stink!" he said, me smirking.
"Ah, I gotcha. You want me to come around and give 'em the scarer's experience, huh? Teach 'em the goods, right?"
"Indeed, show 'em what it takes to be a top scarer, hmm?"
"I'll start with the ol' Waternoose jumpin' growl," I smirked before then demonstrating my inner strengths in scaring, which actually made Waternoose jump in response.
"Oho, yes, now that's what I'm talking about! Hahaha!" he smirked as I then sighed in relief as the rest of the day went by without incident and without George Sanderson. And after this, I then put on some stanky perfume to smell like skunkweed, which was Rosie's favorite scent. And when I did so, I then went to meet up with her, but noticed that Dusa was concerned and moving back and forth on the floor with unease.
"Is something going on, Dusa?" I asked, her looking at me.
"Ooh, I just dunno what to do! I promised her I wouldn't finish the others' papers, so when I don't do it, of course someone forgets their papers... Mike's papers are still unfinished, as usual... what do I do?" she asked, me smiling at her.
"Well, what does your gut feeling say?" I asked, her knowing what I meant by that. It was something I always taught her. When something was given to you, always do what you thought was right.
"M-My gut says to help Mike out. O-Okay, I'm going in, don't tell Roz," she said, me nodding as I then went ahead and left with Susie... I just had to hope that Dusa didn't end up getting the door with for after-hours.
- "O-Okay, Dusa, you can do this hon. W-1s go to home and the S-7s go to Roz, leave the pues," Dusa said to herself, reading it to herself in her mind at least five times as she slowly slithered into the scare floor with the lights out as she then got the papers... before then looking behind her and seeing a strange sight. "Huh?" was all she could say. A lone door, with the light turned on, after hours, at Monsters Inc? And no one in sight? This was a disaster waiting to happen!...
"Hello? Anyone? There's a door here!" Dusa said with anxiousness as her snakes quivered in fear. "I know, I know, what do I do? Is someone cheating?" she asked her snakes. And then, she got an idea from one of them. "Me, go in there? Check to see if there's a monster scaring in there?... O-Okay... worth a shot..." Dusa said shyly as she then cautiously went to the door and opened it, to the point that it was halfway open, way more than her body size was. And she saw nothing. "Hello? Anyone scaring in here? Hello?" she whispered into it. Not a soul in sight. She then closed the door and sighed... before then hearing something... her tail was rattling? She then looked at her tail and... her stomach dropped down into her bottom.
"Funny tail," the voice of a girl of 5 years old said, which Dusa then freaked out as she slithered away from the kid.
"Nonononononono! T-This can't be happening... i-it can't!" Dusa said with fear... then she gasped. She was touched by the kid! The kid was messing with her rattle! She knew she was a goner by this point, but she was NOT going to let this toxic girl loose in the company! She immediately coiled her tail around the little girl, which the human child was in love with the funny and scaly ride as she was then rolled onto her bed. Dusa then rushed out and gasped at how, even though she thought the child was on the bed, she was right there next to her.
"Rattle rattle!" the little tyke smirked, Dusa then gulping. This little girl was FAST! She then rushed in and pushed her into the door, but every single time she did so, she gasped at how the girl kept exiting the door! And with every failed attempt, Dusa got more and more desperate.
"No, no, no! Why won't you go to bed, little one? Please, I'm begging you, bedtime, please!" Dusa said with fear... but then, the worst happened. She saw the sight of a shadow and a bunch of scare canisters on the other side of the room! "N-N-Nevermind, we're g-gonna go for a bit of a fun ride. B-But stay quiet, okay?" Dusa said with concern, her then wrapped the child in her tail and slithering out of sight of the door by slithering up the walls to the point she was at the top of the facility by the windows. It was a good thing there was no light outside at this time!
"Heehee, fun!" the kid smiled, which Dusa then stuck the rattle part into the child's mouth... but... wait... she'd been in physical contact with the thing up, down, and all around, even gagging the kid's mouth with her rattle! Right underneath that rattle was where she had a major blood vessel! If she wasn't dying from poison exposure now... why wasn't that happening?
Her confusion was set aside when she saw that the one who was bringing in a whole slew of Scream Canisters was a monster that made her gasp. It was Courtney Bonitez, and she was joined by none other than Boris Badenof! AKA, Mike's biggest rival! And they proceeded to... open the canisters all at once like a lid? The duo then went inside of the door with Boris acting as the lookout and for Courtney going inside with a big crate from inside the false canisters.
"What in the world are they doing?" Dusa asked as she then proceeded to take a picture with her phone at what was going on. If they were cheating, then why bring in fake scream canisters and a big crate... a crate big enough to hold... oh no... She then looked at her tail and sighed contentedly at how the kid had finally calmed down after sucking on her rattle as if it were a pacifier. Good thing it was harder than iron, so it wouldn't break from a little girl teething on it.
"Is... Are they trying to steal a kid? B-But why?" she asked. And then she used her snakes' hearing to her advantage as she saw that their mouths were moving.
"I can't believe there's no kid in there! You said that there was a kid in there, hung on the back of the door by her shirt," Courtney complained to Boris, the duo groaning.
"Maybe the mom came in and found it? Well, whatever, this night was a flop regardless. Can't risk anyone seeing this stuff," Boris said as they then did the worst possible thing. They turned the door off and sent it back to the door storage! And Dusa shivered at that. She knew she was in BIG trouble now!
"S-Screw the papers... this is bad... w-what do I do with you, now?" Dusa asked as she looked at the girl with concern.
"Mm... grapes... no feet," the girl smiled after sucking on the tail for a while. Feet... that's right! She had to go find Barri! She'd know what to do!
"Okay... I'm gonna need you to get into a disguise, okay? So I'll need you to stay still and trust me, o-okay, kid?" she asked, the little girl smiling at her. "Can you understand me?"
"Uhuh!' the girl said, which surprised Dusa. She didn't expect that! "Where are we going?" she asked. Dusa then looked around the place after the duo had finally left and eventually found something. A bag that she could hide the girl in as well as hoist her over her back.
"Um... w-we're going to have a little bit of a fun experience... you act as the toy, and I'll play with you when we get home," Dusa said, the little girl smirking at that. "B-But one rule. Don't make a sound. Toys can't talk or move, after all."
"Um... they can," the girl said, which made Dusa look at her in confusion. "My dollies talk a lot. We have tea every day," she said... was she being serious? Or was the human world far more complicated than Dusa thought? But then, she produced a small doll that was about the size of Dusa's hand for length, it being a doll that looked like a super hot teenager. "Go on, Barbie, say hi," the girl smirked... and then, Dusa was surprised at how the doll looked at the girl and actually started to talk.
"Psst. Are you sure this is a good idea? This girl looks weird," the doll SPOKE! And Dusa was concerned as she then got to the backpack and looked at the girl.
"U-Um... w-we can't really get you back home until we uh... f-find out your door number... s-s-so... you'll bunk with me at m-my friend's place tonight... remember, no saying a word... y-you may not be toxic... b-b-but other monsters think you are..." Dusa said as she then gently placed the kid into the backpack and then, after zipping it up almost the whole way, leaving just enough at the top to allow air inside, she then rushed out of the facility as fast as possible. She HAD to talk to Barri about this, before the whole monster world found out about this!
- The trip to Harryhausen's was extremely great with me and Rosie getting the same exact meal. A fish sandwich with two kappa rolls on the side.
"I love this night... and look over there. Mike and Celia are having a good time, too," Rosie smiled at me.
"It's the perfect way to spend our 2-year anniversary, ain't it?" I asked her.
"How'd ya know that was why I chose tonight, deary?" Rosie asked me, which I giggled at.
"I never forget a thing. I still remember how you were some of the nicest monsters in the Scare Games, being super nice to me despite being on Oozma," I smirked.
"Ah, don't fret about it. We needed more variety back then, and now we have scare coaches as a modern standard, all because of you and Mike's hard work," Rosie smiled widely.
"Did I mention that I love it when you give me kisses?" I asked, her smirking at me after as she then leaned in to give me a kiss... before I was suddenly interrupted by Dusa placing her hand on my shoulder!
"H-Huh? Dusa? What's going o-" I was about to ask her before she hushed me and then laid a... backpack on the ground?... Uh oh...
"Listen, I need to tell ya something. I went back to get Mike's papers and there was a door!" she said at a hushed tone to both me AND Rosie, both of us gasping at that.
"What?! A door? What was a door doing-" Rosie asked at an even softer, but shocked tone before Dusa spoke.
"Boris and Courtney were using it, and from what it sounded like, they were hoping to steal a kid!" Dusa said quietly.
"Oh no... please don't tell me... what's in the bag?" I asked in concern, her then going to pick it up... and me gasping as the bag's zipper was opened from the top and there was little feet coming from underneath.
"NOOOO!" Dusa shouted in fear as she slammed through a couple waters to try and chase the bag.
"Um... What's going on?" Rosie asked.
"R-Rosie, we're gonna need to halt this date..." I said before the bag revealed... NOT Boo! In fact... it looked like someone from my past! It looked like Susie Michaels from the bad side of town, but her being super nice! And it was her when we were in our toddler years?! "We have to DO SOMETHING!" I shouted as I grabbed her arm and rushed us forward, which Susie then climbed onto a guy's head and interrupted a picture... and after? Chaos. Pure, unadulterated CHAOS! All the monsters started freaking out and fleeing the scene, Mike and Celia quickly joined me in trying to catch the kid, me then hushing her as I contained her in a to-go cup for the biggest drinks they offered, those being the Human Size cup (ironically, able to fit a 12-year-old kid in it) and we rushed as fast as we could out of the vicinity with the CDA coming in hot!
"W-WHAT'S GOING ON?! WHY IS THERE ONE OF THEM OUT HERE IN THE OPEN?!" Celia asked in fear as we ran as fast as we could down the street... and by the time we'd managed to get to the road leading to my apartment, we gasped as a giant stasis field was barely a foot behind us! If we ended up even so much as touching it, we'd be trapped in a quarantine bubble by the CDA!
"What's going on? This is much bumpier than the backpack ride!" asked Susie, me being surprised at how good she was able to talk at such a young age. As for the cup? We were lucky it wasn't see-through.
"J-Just sit tight, Susie, and I'll explain everything," I said, the others being confused.
"Susie? You're giving it a name?" Mike asked me.
"No, it is my name!" Susie retorted, which made her confused. "Wait, how did you know my name?" she asked, me smacking my face as I then rushed us to my apartment and inside of the small space that me and Narleen occupied, her looking at us in shock.
"Oh my gosh! You're a sight fer sore eyes! It's a madhouse out there! Look at the news!" she said as she then showed the very same showings on the TV as in the movie. And filled with the people remembering things that never happened, such as the kid blasting cars with laser vision, using telekinesis, and even a new thing where she apparently contaminated the entire restaurant's food supply!
"Um... they do know humans can't do that stuff, right?" Susie asked, which Narleen then gasped as she jumped onto the top of the couch and shook in place, me frowning as I then took Susie out of the cup and placed her on the ground.
"Y-You're touching the kid... y-you do realize you're going to die now, right?" Celia asked in absolute fear.
"If that was the case, then I'd have been dead the moment I discovered her," Dusa said with concern, which made all of our eyes lock on her. "S-She rattled my tail, got coiled in my grasp, she even sucked my rattle to keep quiet... a-and I haven't felt woozy, short on breath, not weak, nothing! S-Something bad is going on at that Monsters Inc place, and I know that Courtney and Boris are in on it!" she said with concern.
"Tell us everything you know, Dusa. We need to know what the heck we're up against," Rosie said with seriousness.
"And also, Barri, you tell us how you knew humans weren't toxic," Celia frowned at me.
"It's because... tss... I'm part human and part monster..." I groaned, which the group looked shocked at, but Susie was busy playing with the tv channels and smirking at the dfiferent shows the monsters had.
"Pies in the face? Funny," she smirked, me gulping as she was about to laugh, me muffling it as the helicopters for the CDA started to circle.
"Shhsshhhshhh! Whatever you do, don't scream, and for the love of God, DO. NOT. LAUGH. It'll make us complete sitting ducks!" I whispered to her, her nodding at that.
"Why not?" she asked.
"Yeah, why not?" Celia asked.
"Because... well... your screams would make the power screwy, since scream is what powers our city... but laughter? Why not laughter?" Mike asked me.
"Do you recall the day that we got kicked out of the scare program, Mike?" I asked, him looking at me in confusion.
"Yeah, why?"
"Recall that I laughed for less than four seconds... and just that much laughter was enough to fill Hardscrabble's scream canister to the point it overflowed and sent me, a hulking 250 woman, through the air and colliding into a wall at 10 miles an hour," I said, which Mike then gawked.
"Wait... so if she laughed even once, it might be enough to power this entire apartment for just one chuckle?" Celia asked in shock.
"Yes, it would. But since it's already running on scream, even a little bit of a laugh would get this entire building to get a complete power outage. And then the CDA would know to look here first before anywhere else," I said... and then Mike started to make up some plans.
"Okay, so what are we going to do? Monsters Inc is probably going to be in panic mode when we go in with CDA members everywhere... and they have tons of scanners, so how are we going to do this?" Mike asked... and then?
"Maybe I can help with that," said the voice of none other than Randal, him actually hiding by the doors, which I gawked at how he let down his camouflage to show he was in his own CDA suit that was actually able to turn just as invisible as he did.
"What do you mean YOU can help with that? And what did I say about snooping around me?" I asked in annoyance.
"Trust me, rule one of the CDA handbook, NEVER do illegal activity. And that includes kidnapping. So why do you have a human kid on you? I need an answer," Randal said.
"I... I can explain," Dusa said as she then proceeded to explain every little detail.
