Ch 89 The Big News
At the Stone Mansion, Helena and Steven enjoyed a Family dinner with Joseph and Lydia. "Helena, dear it's been too long since we actually sit down and talk." Lydia smiles, cutting her food,
Helena smiles, looking at Lydia speaking to her. "I know, I've been busy with my Research and my Classes at the Trainer School." She said, "Especially when my Paper gained many interview requests talking about it." She said,
"Ah yes, your Paper about Pokemon Ancient forms and the connection with the Red and Blue Orbs with the Legendary Pokemon," Joseph commented, remembering his Researchers talking about it. "I had the opportunity to read your Paper, and I must say it's very interesting. How were you ever to come up with that theory?" The navy blue-haired Man asked Helena.
The black-haired Professor smiles at Joseph, answering his question. "That's easy, the Mural we found in Granite Cave looks similar to the one in Sootoplis City. I just made the connection with the small details between the Murals." Helena explains to the two.
Joseph nodded, "That's impressive you were able to spot the smallest difference in the Murals, Helena." The navy-blue-haired Man said, seeing the work she put into her Research.
"It's a simple difference, anyone can spot it." Helena humbly responded, looking at Steven who was present with her for their discovery. "Even Steven caught the difference, right?" She asked her Boyfriend.
"Hmm? Oh, yes," Steven smiles, responding to Helena's statement. "At first you can hardly tell the difference but Helena pointed out it out for me." The Champion explains to his Parents.
Lydia smiles, placing her hand on her cheek. "How wonderful, you two worked well together." The white-haired Woman commented, "Just think, now that you two are Dating; soon enough you two be planning your Wedding." She commented, daydreaming of the day.
Steven choked on his drink upon hearing his Mother talking about Marriage. "M-Mother…" He coughs to the side, avoiding Helena from his cough.
Helena quickly came over to Steven, giving him a fresh glass of water.
The Hoenn Champion gave a warry smile at his Mother, responding to what she said. "M-Mother, w-we're not ready for that just y-yet…" He gave a slight chuckle, knowing that they had other news to give them.
"Come now, Son. You two Dated for at least a year, coming up to two years now." Joseph inserted himself into the conversation. "Besides, you two…what you young People say? Clicked?"
Lydia laughs slightly at what her Husband said. "Yes, dear." She turns to Helena and Steven, wanting to converse with them more. "Helena, please mind my Husband. He's just excited that Steven has found someone who he can genuinely be with happily."
Helena turns to Steven, blushing red from what his Parents were sharing embarrassing comments. She smiles, patting his back, "Steven, are you okay?" She asked the Steel-blue haired Champion, knowing he was just embarrassed.
"Hai…" Steven nodded, turning back to the table where his Parents were gushing over the two. He cleared his throat, eyeing Helena that it was time.
Helena nodded, understanding the signal. "Um, Lydia, Joseph, we wanted to give you two something." The young Ability User said to both Stone Parents.
"Oh? You two didn't have to do that." Lydia held her mouth, not expecting a gift from the both of them.
Joseph leans forward, folding his hands together. "What's the occasion, you two?" He smiles, also happy to receive a present from anyone.
Steven looks over Sebastian, signaling him to bring over the presents for the two. Sebastian agrees, having two Maids come over with the presents.
Each Maid gave one Gift to Lydia and Joseph, both were looking at each other with curiosity about the Presents. "W-What is this?" Joseph laughs, seeing his Gift was large but small enough for something like a Toy.
"Is it a photo, Helena, Steven? It's the right size for a photo frame." Lydia asked the two, thinking it was a photo of something else.
Helena and Steven looked at each other with a smile, "Open them, Mother, Father." Steven ushers his Parents to open the Gifts.
Both Joseph and Lydia opened the lids, "What's this?" Lydia smiles, picking up the item within the Present.
The white-haired Woman lifted the item from the box, revealing it to be a green Baby blanket. For Joseph, he took out a stuffed Teddiursa toy.
Joseph gave a complex expression, holding the stuffed toy in his hands. "A stuffed toy? What is this, Steven?" He laughs, finding the joke to be hilarious.
"It's not a joke, Father," Steven replied back, feeling a bit nervous about what comes next. Both he and Helena looked at Lydia, her face was stunned by what she was holding.
Lydia looks at Helena and her Son, her eyes widen with shock. "Lydia, are you-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" Lydia screams, leaping out of her chair and ran around the table to Helena.
Helena smiles, standing up and receiving a hug from her. "My Arceus, Helena, Stevie…you two…" Lydia cries, wiping the tears from her eyes. "Crap, my mascara…" She sniffs, smiling at them.
"I know, it's a surprise for us too," Helena smiles, sharing her overwhelming emotions as her.
Lydia was jumping in place while crying for joy. "I can't believe this, I really can't believe this."
"Lydia, what got you so worked up?" Joseph asked, not sure why his Wife overreacted to their Gifts.
Steven chuckles, motioning his finger to his Mother's Gift. "Father, look at Mother's Gift." He said to him, pointing it at him.
Joseph's eyes shift to the green Baby blanket before shifting back to his Gift. Then it clicked in his mind, "NO!" His eyes widen, looking at both Helena and Steven.
He stood up, making his way to the three. "No, no, no!" He smiles, hugging his Son in a tight grip. "Steven! How could you? You're only Eighteen and Helena's Seventeen." He smiles, feeling both disappointed and joyous at the same time.
"I'm sorry, Father, but things happened and kinda…" Steven smiles, happy that his parents quickly accepted Helena's pregnancy.
Lydia looks at Helena, smiling at her. "How many weeks are you, Helena? I can tell you're experiencing Mood Swings right now." She commented, sharing her joy.
Helena nodded, answering the white-haired Woman's question. "Just a Month now, though I do notice a little bump." She commented,
"Awe, just you wait, soon you'll have a little one running around." Lydia smiles, placing her hand on Helena's abdomen. She looks at Joseph, approaching him to hug him. "Joseph, we're going to be Grandparents!"
Joseph looks at Helena, "Helena, I have to ask; when's the Wedding? This is a momentous occasion?" The navy-blue haired Man asked the young Professor.
Helena froze, looking at Steven at the sudden mention of the Wedding. They have spoken about it before, and they have decided on something. "We decided to wait until the Baby is born until we plan a Wedding." She smiles,
"I don't want Helena to go through more stress than she already is with her job and caring for herself and the Baby," Steven explains, standing next to his Girlfriend, also wants to get rid of everything that could come as a potential risk during Birth.
Lydia looks at Joseph, and the two understand their reasoning. "Of course, your line of Work it's a bit stressful." She commented, agreeing with her Son on the notion. However, she felt like they should celebrate the occasion. "At least have something to celebrate you conceiving your Baby."
Helena smiles, answering Lydia's sentence. "Well, I was thinking about a small Party with Friends." She said, looking at Steven who understood her thoughts.
"A Baby shower…I think we can do that." Steven liked the idea, it's nothing major like a Wedding nor hard to set up. "Do you have any ideas where you want to host it?" He asked his Girlfriend,
Joseph raised his finger, having an idea where they could have the Shower. "How about your Lab? It's large enough for a small Party and…a possible Wedding?" He raised his eyebrow at the two.
"F-Father!" Steven exclaims, blushing from the embarrassment,
Both Lydia and Joseph laugh, enjoying teasing their Son because of the joyful occasion.
However, for Helena, she couldn't help but think of a Wedding at her Home in the Backyard. "Okay, let's continue dinner, it's getting cold. And Helena, you need all the nutrients you can get for you and your Baby." Lydia said, motioning her to come and sit back down.
Helena sat down, looking at Steven before continuing with dinner.
Another Month passed, and Helena's abdomen was getting bigger about two Months. She sat down at her dining table, checking over the plan she had drawn up for the shower.
"Professor…" Helena looked up, turning to Paulo who stood near the entrance of the dining room.
Paulo has been visiting the Lab lately, practically as an unofficial Apprentice. Taking care of Pokemon with N or assisting with Research with her, he's been quite helpful.
Speaking about her Brother, N has left the Lab. He says he has something to do at Slateport City.
"Yes, Paulo? What is it?" Helena smiles at her new Apprentice, hearing him calling her.
The blonde trainer turned to the door, entering the room was Roxanne with an excited expression on her face. "Ellie, congratulations!" She walks in, heading over to the table.
Paulo saw that he wasn't needed for the moment, so he turned around doing whatever he did when he was at the Lab.
Helena stood up, greeting up from her chair, and hugged her Friend. "Thank you for doing this, Roxy. I know that you're busy with the Gym Challenge coming soon and setting up-"
Roxanne held her hand at Helena, stopping her from continuing. "Ellie, I appreciate your concern about me." The brunette Gym Leader said, sitting down at the table. "But we're talking about both Steven and your Child here! An occasion that needs to be celebrated."
The Gym Leader took out some design books for her to look at. Outside of the typical Gym Leader duties and Teacher duties, every once in a while, she's often helped planning events and Parties.
Roxanne showed her some work she'd done when she was on the Research trip. Helena has to admit that Roxanne has some talent. "These look wonderful, Roxy. I don't know which one to choose."
"Oh, this isn't the Baby Shower design. These are ideas you can use for your Shower, Ellie." Roxanne explains to her Friend, "This will be different from the other Parties and Events, it's unique to you."
Helena couldn't help but smile, excited about the Baby Shower. "I can't wait,"
Roxanne nodded, "Then let's get started, first is what theme you want…" She grabbed a pen and paper, jotting down Helena's ideal Shower.
After a few hours of planning, Steven came by to check up on things with Helena. He came into the Lab with a spare key given by Helena for emergencies. "Ellie? N? Professor? Anyone here? It's me, Steven, I'm coming in." He called out to the Lab, looking for a response.
Steven looks around, noting a door opening. He blinked his eyes, seeing Helena's Volunteer, Paulo. "Oh, Mr. Stone; I didn't realize you were visiting," Paulo said as a few of Helena's Pokemon came over.
"Hattrem, Hattrem," Hattrem ran up to Steven, welcoming him to their Home.
Petilili hops over, also welcoming the Hoenn Champion to the Lab. "Pet, Pet."
Steven smiles, kneeling to pet the two. "Hello, Petilili, Hattrem," He said before looking at Paulo, "Paulo, you know where's your Mentor or N?" He asked the young blonde trainer.
"Professor Potter is at the back with Ms. Schuler setting up for a Baby Shower," Paulo informed the Champion of the Region. "I can take you there if you like."
"Thank you, Paulo." Steven accepted the offer, following Helena's Volunteer with Helena's two Pokemon.
They entered the back porch where Helena and Roxanne were setting up some streamers and balloons of pink and blue. Steven watches as Helena climbs the ladder to tie the balloons to the pole.
"Kirlia," Kirlia passed some balloons to Helena, while the other Pokemon assisted with other decorations.
"Thank you, Kirlia." Helena ties the balloons to the pole before looking behind her. "Oh, Steven, I didn't realize you arrived." She greeted her Boyfriend,
Steven approaches Helena, offering his hand to assist her. "I see you're preparing for the Baby Shower, Ellie." He smiles at the black-haired Professor. "Did you send invitations to the People you wanted to attend?"
Helena was gently guided down by Steven, "Yes, I just wrote the invitations this morning and N has sent it to the Post Office." The young Professor smiles, telling her Boyfriend what she did. "Roxanne and the others are helping with the decorations for tomorrow."
"In any case, you two did a great job. I'm sure everyone who can come will think so too." Steven said as their Friend walked over to them after finishing decorating the patio.
"Aw, thanks, Steven. It took a bit of time but I think it went well too." Roxanne smiles walking over to the couple.
Helena smiles, walking over to the Rock-type Gym Leader. "I appreciate you helping us, Roxanne. This looks wonderful," She said to her, showing her gratitude.
"Don't be, it's something I do for fun. Now that everything is set up, I think we're ready for the Shower." Roxanne looked back, seeing the tables, decorations, and seats were set up, ready to be used on the next day.
Steven chuckles, walking to the railing of the patio. His eyes looked around, seeing if there was anything missing. There was nothing peculiar missing from the event, "This looks great, I can't wait for the Day of the Shower," He said, showing his gratitude to Roxanne.
The Girls giggled at Steven's excited expression, but he didn't mind. It's going to be a momentous occasion.
Paulo just blinks at the Adults, not getting what's so funny. "Adults…" He said, not getting what's funny,
Soon the four and a few of their Pokemon reentered the Lab where they heard the front door close. Helena looks up, seeing N coming back from Slateport City. "N, welcome back-" She paused, seeing he brought some familiar faces.
"Professor Potter, who are those People." The blonde trainer asked his Mentor.
Roxanne, Steven, and Paulo saw the People that N brought back were two Women. Both wore dresses, one had blonde hair and the other had pink hair.
Steven looks at his Girlfriend, curious about who these two Women are. "Ellie, who are these two?" He asked Helena, seeing her smile at them.
Helena started to walk to the three, greeting them to her Lab. "Anthea! Concordia! I didn't realize you two were coming," She greeted her two Adopted Sisters.
Kirlia smiles, treading over to her long-time Friends from Unova. "Kirlia, Kirlia!"
"Pet! Petilili!" Petilili hops over to meet their Friends, not seen them for a long time.
Anthea smiled, kneeling to Kirlia's level as the other Pokemon; Ponyta, Sylveon, Hattrem, and others came and greeted them. "Hello everyone, it's so nice to see you again." The pink-haired Woman smiles, talking to the Pokemon.
"N has informed us about you carrying an infant," Concordia informed the black-haired Professor. "As such, he asked us to assist with taking care of your Home." The blonde Woman informed Helena.
Anthea grabs hold of Helena's hand, smiling at her. "Once we heard you were carrying a Child, Helena. We wanted to relieve some stress for you," The pink-haired Woman said, wanting to ensure Helena was stress-free
"N, you should've told me that Anthea and Concordia were coming." Helena looks at her Brother, smiling her way.
"I figured that it would be a nice surprise for you to see our Sisters; especially when you're going to be expecting soon."
Helena turns to her Friends and her Apprentice, "Roxanne, Steven, Paulo, these are N and my Sisters." She introduced her Friends to the rest of her Siblings. "Anthea, Concordia, these are Roxanne, Paulo a Student of mine, and Steven, my Boyfriend and the Father of my Child."
Roxanne smiles, heading to meet Helena and N's Sisters. She held Anthea's hand, "It's so nice to meet you two! I'm Roxanne, the Rustboro City's Gym Leader." She introduced herself to the two, "I heard so much from both Helena and N. I hope you enjoy Hoenn during your visit."
"The pleasure is all mine, Roxanne. I'm glad that N and Helena are doing well in the Hoenn Region." Anthea turns back to her Sister, "Isn't that right, Concordia?" She asked the blonde.
Concordia nodded, agreeing with her Sister on that notion. "Right, Sister." She looks at Steven, matching the description her Brother gave them. "So, you're the Child's Father," She said,
Steven gulps, putting on a brave face to greet the rest of his soon-to-be in-laws. "Yes, it's nice to have you two here. My name's Steven Stone, the Champion of the Region." He greeted them.
"Right, you're the Hoenn Champion, a member of the Masters Eight," Concordia commented, looking at the Champion. "Both Sister and I know of you," She walks over to Steven, placing her hand on her shoulders. "Take good care of Helena, she's very important to our lives." She said,
Anthea nodded, agreeing with her Sister on her statement. "Yes, please do. Helena has changed so much in our lives." She said, hinting to Steven to really protect and care for her. "We trust you, Steven."
Steven looks at both N and Helena speaking about housing for the two. He looks at both of their Sisters, hearing their plea. "Right, of course. I will protect her and our Child." He said, promising the two Sisters, noticing Roxanne and their Pokemon as witnesses.
Later that night, they all have dinner and talk about the Baby Shower happening soon. Unbeknownst to them, a teal-haired Girl was waiting in the nearby Forest, observing the Laboratory.
Rustling caught her attention as a Person set out of the brush. "What did you get so far?" Maya asked the Person behind her.
"Vileplume," Vileplume added, looking up at their intel.
"…"
Maya froze, dropping her binoculars, her eyes widened with shock and disbelief. "S-She's p-p-pregnant…" She gritted her teeth, her rage seething within her. "W-With Steven's Child!?" She glares back at the Lab, clearly seeing the inhabitants were having dinner.
"That…Bitch." Maya growls, determined to do anything to get her revenge.
