Welcome to my first story, wonderful people! This story is inspired by the "Selfish and Senseless" fanfiction, and you should check that out. Also, look, I know I'm Christian, but I don't think God's gonna kill me if I ship Catboy x Night Panther. That's just my personal opinion. Their ages? Well, I'll let you imagine that, because I can't imagine the PJ Masks as teenagers too well. Also, this story takes place before PJ Masks Power Heroes. Now, onto the story.
Catboy looked around. The room around him was completely white. He knew that he, in his Connor form, had turned in for bed after fighting villains with Owlette and Gekko. Now he was here, in a random room with nothing to see and do. He could see his body, and he realized that he transformed involuntarily.
"Where am I?" he asked. Catboy realized he was in an open space, so he started walking forward into the white void. His ears were flattened in slight fear, and his pupils were dilated.
"Hello," came a voice from within the void. Catboy suddenly looked over his shoulder.
"Who is that?" he asked the voice. He raised his ears to listen for the voice.
"I am Night Panther." the voice answered. A black figure appeared from in front of Catboy, and it looked just like him. It looked exactly like Catboy after he had been hit by Romeo's opposite ray that one night. The only thing that differed from that night is that the figure was taller than him. The figure had a black cat costume with white stripes, and it was smiling warmly at him. Catboy took a nervous step back.
"Night Panther? Wait, don't I know you?" Catboy inquired Night Panther slowly, remembering that night Gekko told him about.
"Yes, you do," the figure replied. "But there is only one difference...I'm not you anymore. I'm now a completely different person."
"Different...person? What do you mean?" Catboy inquired once more, taking a step forward to hear what Night Panther had to say. He was afraid of this random place, but he was also confused and curious.
"I am a messenger sent by your PJ Crystal to tell you something. Romeo is going to bring me back," Night Panther explained, a placid expression on his face. "and he plans to get rid of a cat with a cat. He's trying to bring me back so I can fight you and your team. He wants you gone because you are the leader of your team."
"What? Well then, what should I do?" Catboy asked.
"I may have liked Romeo as an evil friend when I was you, but now that I'll be my own person, I won't like him as much anymore...due to the fact that only love will get in the way between me and Romeo's 'friendship'," Night Panther said, smiling and blushing. His eyebrows also furrowed flirtingly.
"Love...what now?" Catboy asked as he realized his face turned red with Night Panther's. His eyes were dilated with embarrassment. Night Panther came over to Catboy and circled him as the blue cat froze with red cheeks.
"You'll see soon...see you, kitten," Night Panther said in Catboy's ear, and he walked away into the void, leaving Catboy all alone.
The white void faded away, and Catboy found himself laying in his bedroom. He sat up and saw that he was still Connor.
A message from the PJ Crystal? About love? I definitely can't tell Owlette or Gekko about that part. I'll only tell them about Night Panther coming back... Connor thought as he sunk back into bed.
The next morning at school, Connor decided to tell his friends at recess about the dream he had. He sat on a bench next to Greg and Amaya and spoke.
"Guys, the PJ Crystal gave me a message last night," Connor began.
"A message? What did it say, Connor?" Amaya asked, quite amazed. The PJ Crystal never gave anyone a dream message before.
"I met...my villain self...he said was coming back..." Connor continued.
Greg's eyes widened. "Night Panther?!" he asked in surprise. Connor nodded.
"Romeo is gonna try getting rid of me because I'm the leader of this team...by recreating Night Panther." the cat-loving kid explained briefly.
"Oh great, so Romeo is gonna bring back an old villain? That's terrible!" Amaya said. Connor wanted to tell them that love is going to bring him and Night Panther together, but he kept his mouth from talking further, and he kept his cheeks from turning red.
"We're gonna put and end to him, aren't we?" Greg asked, though he already knew the answer. Amaya nodded, and Connor nodded slowly.
The trio announced their arrival into the night as usual. "PJ Masks, we're on our way! Into the night to save the day!"
After the trio arrived in HQ, Gekko asked PJ Robot to locate Romeo's lab or Flying Factory. Owlette and Gekko watched as the little robot worked, and Catboy stood behind them. His pupils were dilated again, his ears flattened, and his right hand was rubbing his left arm. Luckily for him, Owlette and Gekko didn't notice him.
"PJ Robot found Romeo! His Flying Factory is hovering above the park! You want to drive, Catboy?" Owlette asked, looking over to Catboy. Catboy reset his gesture and looked at Owlette blankly.
"No, I'm good this time...you can take the Owl Glider," Catboy replied, having one hand on his hip and waving the other in the air.
"Oh, okay. To the Owl Glider!" Owlette announced as the trio went up their elevators and jumped into the Owl Glider. They buckled up and flew through the owl gate.
It was a silent flight. No one spoke until the trio reached the Flying Factory. After the trio landed, Owlette stopped Catboy and Gekko from hopping out.
"Stay. We'll wait for Romeo and take him by surprise," the red-costumed girl explained. Catboy and Gekko nodded. Catboy just sat in his seat, thinking. Was the PJ Crystal's message going to be true?
"Night Panther!" Romeo called from his main desk. "Come here! The PJ Masks are here!"
A black panther-costumed boy emerged from the elevator across the the room. He looked just like how Catboy saw him in his dream. Robot was standing in the corner of the room.
"They're here? Finally! I didn't think your plan would start to unfold this fast," Night Panther mocked, much to Romeo's annoyance.
"Well, it's unfolding, isn't it?" Romeo snapped. Night Panther just rolled his eyes.
"Let's just go, inventor kid. I wanna take out some goody-two-shoes," Night Panther hissed with anticipation. The black cat and Romeo exited the Flying Factory to face the PJ Masks. At the sight of Romeo and Night Panther's arrival, the three superheroes jumped out of the Owl Glider and posed for battle.
"Aw, were you PJs trying to surprise us? Nice try!" Romeo laughed. Catboy didn't listen to him. His eyes were fixed on Night Panther. Night Panther looked back at him. The black cat's arms were crossed and his eyes were narrowed.
"Catboy told us you were going to bring back Night Panther to take him out, because his leadership is why we are here," Owlette stated.
"What? How'd he know that?!" Romeo asked in fury, and Catboy shrugged blankly like he didn't know.
"Well, no matter, because that tattletale cat brain of his is an even better reason to get rid of him!" Romeo said, pulling out his ray gun. "Night, get Catboy! I'll get Lizard Legs and Bird Brain!"
Night Panther nodded and sprinted on all fours toward Catboy. Catboy grunted and dodged him, and Night pinned his ears, ready to brawl. The two circled around each other.
"So your name is Catboy, eh? You're way cuter than Romeo said you were," Night said, raising an eyebrow and smiling at Catboy, who blushed at the comment.
"I know I'm cute, thank you very much...I don't need to be reminded by you," Catboy replied, smiling slightly. He was aware that he sometimes used kitty cat eyes to get villains to do what he wants.
"Oh wow, you admit it?" Night asked in slight surprise. He had expected Catboy to claim he was not cute. Catboy did not answer the question, and he looked away for a second, his face burning up.
"Well, let's see if you think this is cute!" Night hissed as he suddenly shot panther stripes at Catboy. Catboy's eyes bulged and he leaped over the stripes, landing on all fours.
"Wow, that was rude of you," Catboy mocked, narrowing his eyes and standing up with his hands on his hips. Meanwhile, Romeo was trying to zap Owlette and Gekko, but they kept successfully dodging him. Night stood up and looked annoyed.
"Rude of me? Look, kitten boy, I'm doing what Romeo ordered me to do. If I don't do what he wants, he's going to disintegrate me back into the void of people who used to exist, and I'm...afraid of that..." Night explained.
"Disintegrate you?" Catboy echoed. "That's so mean..." Catboy decided to see if what the PJ Crystal told him was true.
"Yes, it is! I'm finally free from the void, and I don't need that pesky opposite ray to exist anymore!" Night said. "Romeo treats me like I'm still his slave from that night. He's such a-"
"Jerk?" Catboy asked, trying to finish Night's sentence. After a moment of silence, the two cats laughed, with all signs of aggression lost in the dust.
"Yeah," Night replied. The two cats smiled and blushed at each other, and Romeo saw them. Gekko and Owlette looked over as well in surprise. As soon as Catboy noticed their countenances, his heart sank.
"Night, don't tell me you actually like kitty litter boy!" Romeo growled. The two cats shrank back in fear.
"Catboy?" Owlette asked, bewildered. Catboy stayed silent, and he looked over to Night.
"N-no! I don't like him! I would never like a goody-two-shoes like him!" Night said, looking like he actually didn't like Catboy. Catboy looked at him with upset eyes.
"Night?" he asked. Night then turned and smiled warmly, winking at him. Catboy eyed him with secret relief so Romeo wouldn't see. Gekko and Owlette looked at each other and wondered what message just passed between the cats.
"Stop messing around and fight kitty litter boy!" Romeo ordered. Night nodded and proceeded to play fight with Catboy, and the latter was caught off guard. The others continued to brawl.
"By my cat's whiskers! Night Panther, get off me!" Catboy yelped, laughing quietly.
"Naw, I need to convince Romeo that I'm still on his side," Night replied, pretending to sound threatening. The two laughed and tumbled. Then Night jumped off of Catboy and hit Romeo with panther stripes. Gekko and Owlette paused.
"What the? Night Panther, what's gotten into you?" Romeo asked in both anger and confusion.
"I'm done listening to you, Romeo!" Night exclaimed. Everyone looked at him in amazement, especially Gekko. Gekko remembered that back on that opposite ray night, Night made up in his mind to be a villain because he had no idea Catboy existed.
"Robot!" Romeo called out. Everyone posed for the fight as Robot emerged from the Flying Factory. Robot stretched out his extendable arm and tried to reach for Catboy. Catboy was about to dodge, but Night Panther sped in front of him and slid to give Robot a sharp kick on his thin legs. Robot tripped and said his signature "ouchie" as Romeo groaned. Night Panther came up to Romeo and bared his teeth.
"Get lost, inventor boy, or I'll make sure you can't invent anything ever again," he hissed. Romeo was going to say something, but the stern look of the PJ Masks made him shut up. Romeo struggled to get up from the cat stripes, and Robot carried his master back into the Flying Factory.
"One day I'll disintegrate that traitor, PJ Masks! This is not over!" Romeo yelled as Robot freed him and the the Flying Factory flew away.
"So, you're a...good guy now?" Gekko asked, walking over to Night.
"Yup. I'm Night Panther, but you can call me Night," the black cat replied.
"I'm Gekko, and this is Owlette and Catboy," Gekko said, pointing at his friends as he said their names. Night waved at Owlette, and she waved back. He then turned to Catboy and got all in his face. Nose to nose, Catboy looked embarrassed and blushed as Night eyed him with a flirtatious expression.
"I'm only a hero now because I met you, kitten boy," he said. He then kissed Catboy right on the mouth for a second, and it was right in front of Gekko and Owlette. The two heroes looked quite surprised. Night and Catboy didn't even close their eyes. Catboy's eyes were dilated and wide, and Night's eyes were dilated under a lowered top eyelid.
"See you," Night said, speeding off into the night. Catboy looked over to his friends as he blushed.
"Did that really just happen? Do you actually like boys, Catboy?" Owlette asked.
"Y-you could say that..." Catboy admitted. His friends suddenly hugged him tight.
"We're so happy for you!" Gekko said. Catboy smiled into the hug.
"Thanks! I hope I see him again, though," Catboy replied, breaking the hug.
"Oh, with a flirtatious look like that, he'll definitely come back," Owlette stated with her hands on her hips. The three heroes laughed.
"PJ Masks, all shout hooray, 'cause in the night, we saved the day!" the trio announced, making poses in the air. Night Panther popped up and made a pose in the corner.
