Flashback: Unknown Time at night, before the night of the last chapter.
An Yu was chasing Night Ninja and his Ninjalinos down towards the entrance of Mystery Mountain.
"Give Mystery Mountain back those rage rubies, Night Ninja! You don't know how powerful those rubies can get when someone near them is angry," An Yu said. Even though the ninjas were stealing from her mountain, she was able to maintain a calm tone.
"That's the whole point, dragon girl!" Night Ninja yelled back. He then whispered to his Ninjalinos. "Once I find a good victim, my plan will fall into place."
An Yu was not as fast as Night Ninja, and he was able to get away into the city.
"Noooo!" An Yu screamed. She tripped, but she caught herself with her arms, her staff floating next to her.
I need to tell the PJ Masks...but I can't. They have no idea how much danger their lives would be in if I told them about those powerful rubies... An Yu thought as she grabbed her staff and flew back up to the Pagoda. Nighttime villains know exactly how to make people angry, so I can't risk the PJ Masks-or me-going near those rubies.
Flashback Ends.
Night Panther stared in fear at Catboy, who was now Fire Feline. Fire Feline smirked.
"Awww, you look cute when you're confused," he said, much to Night's surprise. Night knew he was usually the one flirting, not Catboy. Now that Catboy was Fire Feline, he wanted dominance over Night's kind.
Dominance. The word rang in Night's head like a bell. He stared at Night Ninja and his Ninjalinos, who were all smiling evilly. Then he looked at Fire Feline.
"C-Catboy, this isn't you," Night stammered.
"I am not Catboy anymore! I am Fire Feline, and you are the kitten, not me," Fire Feline hissed. He approached Night and got all in his face, just like Night had did to Catboy the first time they met.
"Look, guys, the poor black kitty is scared," Fire Feline said with a tinge of rizz. Night shrank back with flattened ears. This person talking to him wasn't Catboy, but now Night felt like Catboy. He looked angry as the ninjas approached him and Fire Feline.
"I'll be back for you, Catboy. I need to get help," Night said, standing up as Fire Feline backed up, a clean smirk on his face.
Night sped off into the Cat Car and drove off to get Amaya and Greg awake and ready for action.
I've put Catboy in danger, Night thought. This whole situation is my fault...
Once Night Panther arrived at his team's homes, he woke up Amaya first, and then Greg. The two walked out of their homes and approached Night in their PJs, rubbing their eyes sleepily.
"What's going on, Night?" Amaya asked tiredly.
"Yeah, I was dreaming about a lizard dance party," Greg added casually.
"Guys, wake the heck up! Catboy is in danger!" Night said, making both Greg and Amaya gasp and wake up instantly.
"Catboy? What happened to him?!" Amaya asked, worried.
"It's these things called rage rubies...and Night Ninja...he made Catboy get mad at me, and now Catboy's turned into some rage-driven cat called 'Fire Feline'!" Night explained.
"Fire Feline? Sounds mean...and rage rubies? What are those?" Greg asked.
"I don't know, but this is all my fault..." Night said, hanging his head. Amaya walked over to Night and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Why is this your fault?" Amaya asked in confusion. Night blushed and rolled his eyes, as he was embarrassed to answer Amaya.
"I think...I might've been teasing Catboy a little too much..." Night said. "Now that Catboy is Fire Feline, he's trying to tease me back..."
"Wait...so this is a love situation?" Amaya asked.
"Not entirely. I know you guys love Catboy as a friend, so I need your help to revert Catboy back to...well...Catboy," Night replied.
"Okay then," Amaya said, her and Greg raising their fists. "Let's go plan how to save Catboy."
After Amaya and Greg transformed and drove with Night to HQ urgently, PJ Robot asked what the matter was.
"Long story, PJ Robot...take a look guys. I know Catboy probably doesn't want me showing you guys this, but I'm doing it anyway," Night said as he pulled up the PJ Picture Player and showed the scene of him flirting with Catboy in the Cat Car.
"Fine. My favorite toy is..." Night had begun.
"Yes? Say it..." Catboy had urged.
"...is you," Night had finished.
Catboy had abruptly stopped the Cat Car and turned to Night.
"Me?" Catboy had asked.
"Awww, you look adorable when you're flustered, kitten," Night had said.
Night didn't feel proud of himself like he did in that time period. However, his friends laughed behind him.
"Wow, Night, that move was kinda slick," Owlette said, putting a hand on her hip.
"G-Gasping Gekkos! Catboy's response s-sent me home for half a second and b-back here," Gekko said, bursting with laughter and unable to talk without stammering. Night chuckled.
"Guys, focus...now you guys should see what led to this moment," Night pointed out, pulling up a second clip.
After the Ninjalinos had mocked Catboy and Night Panther, Catboy yelled at Night Panther and triggered the rage rubies. Catboy had been calling out Night's name in fear, but it had been too late. Night screamed for Catboy as he became Fire Feline.
Instead of laughing, Gekko and Owlette's hearts shattered. The way Catboy and Night Panther screamed for each other felt like a tragedy. Owlette even started tearing up and sniffling, and Gekko had to hug her.
"I know...it's sad. We can't cry now, though. We have to plan out how to save Catboy," Night said calmly. Gekko and Owlette both nodded, with Owlette wiping her tears. They'd do anything to get their friend back. For family. For Night Panther.
Owlette suddenly snapped her fingers. "Let's go to An Yu! She knows everything about gems and powerful things. Maybe she can help us," she said.
"An-who?" Night asked in confusion.
"We'll tell you about her on the way to Mystery Mountain," Owlette said. Night Panther wanted to ask what Mystery Mountain was, but he kept his mouth closed.
"To the Owl Glider!" Owlette announced, pressing the Owl Glider icon on the Picture Player. The three heroes ran off to Owlette's area, and PJ Robot decided to watch a live feed of the park. Fire Feline was standing with Night Ninja as he was training his Ninjalinos. The colored robot beeped anxiously.
When the heroes drove to the entrance of Mystery Mountain, they hopped out and approached it.
"This doesn't look like Mystery Mountain," Night said in annoyance. "It's just a wall."
"Wait until you see this," Gekko replied, walking close to the entrance and making the mystical sign code with his hand, much to Night Panther's amazement. The wall opened, and Owlette and Gekko ran inside. Night hesitated before walking into the wall.
"I'm coming for you, Catboy," Night said before finally walking into the wall.
Night gasped as he walked up the stairs with his friends and saw the massive mountain and splat volcano ahead of him.
"This place is crazy," Night said loudly and honestly.
Owlette shushed him. "Night, quiet down. Mystery Mountain is a quiet and chill place."
"Oh, sorry," Night whispered.
The heroes eventually made it to the Pagoda, where Night Panther learned to dodge the dragon statue traps. They then knocked on An Yu's door. An Yu kindly opened the door for them.
"Hi, my friends," An Yu said with a bow. Her friends bowed back. Her eyes then looked up to Night, who she thought was Catboy.
"Catboy, when did you get so tall...and why are you black and white...is Catboy sick?" An Yu inquired.
"I'm not Catboy," Night hissed, blushing. "I'm his...lover...I'm Night Panther."
"Wait, what?" An Yu asked calmly. "So Catboy likes other boys? I have never seen that kind of love before."
"It's true. Catboy recently found out he liked other boys," Owlette said. An Yu wanted to ask why Night looked like Catboy, but she let it go.
"So...where is Catboy?" An Yu inquired once more.
"Long story..." Night then proceeded to tell the full story of how Catboy became Fire Feline. He breathed heavily once he was done.
"Catboy...Fire Feline...rage rubies? I was afraid of this..." An Yu said.
"What do you mean?" Gekko asked.
"I...ran after Night Ninja a few nights back...he stole the rage rubies from the caves...and I...was too afraid to stop him," An Yu explained slowly.
"Why were you afraid? You're usually so brave," Owlette pointed out.
"Usually, that's true, but those rage rubies are powerful," An Yu replied.
"This was nights ago that Night Ninja stole the rage rubies?" Gekko said. "Why didn't you tell us so we could stop him?"
"Night Ninja-and other villains-know how to make heroes angry, so I couldn't risk getting my friends in danger," An Yu explained.
"That makes a lot of sense. But now we need your help to save Catboy," Gekko said.
"But...what if Night Ninja makes me angry somehow?" An Yu asked in worry.
"He won't...you just have to stay calm," Night assured, putting a hand on the dragon girl's shoulder. "Now let's go before we're too late!"
"Time to be a hero!" Owlette said.
All the heroes ran off back into the city, and they hopped into the Owl Glider. They were going to end Fire Feline...and they were going to get back Catboy.
When the heroes flew in the middle of the park and hopped out of the Owl Glider upon landing, they were surprised to see the ninjas and Fire Feline still there. The Ninjalinos posed for battle.
"Oh, if it isn't the PJ Pests. I see you've met my new friend, Fire Feline," Night Ninja said.
"Hi, PJ Masks," Fire Feline said with a smirk.
"Fire Feline looks worse than I thought," Owlette pointed out, noticing Fire Feline's appearance.
"Guys, spread out," Night ordered. The other heroes obeyed and spread out.
"Fire Feline! Go after Night Jaguar!" Night Ninja ordered Fire Feline, and he obeyed, springing onto Night with the same fury from earlier. Night, not wanting to fight Fire Feline, pushed him off with force.
"Scared of me, little black kitten?" Fire Feline teased.
"Not at all, but I don't want to fight you...I know you're in there, Catboy," Night replied stoutly and honestly.
"I don't know any Catboy! He's gone!" Fire Feline hissed in irritation. Suddenly, Night pounced on Fire Feline.
"This isn't entirely about me, Catboy...your friends miss you," Night said, trying to keep Fire Feline pinned down. "You're their leader."
"Stop calling me Catboy! I'm Fire Feline...and I don't know any 'friends'," Fire Feline said.
Just then, Night Panther's emblem glowed, but his stripes remained white. Night looked down at his emblem, still keeping Fire Feline pinned down as he grunted and struggled to get free. Night noticed his emblem was...cyan. Just like Catboy's stripes when he activates his powers.
Owlette, An Yu and Gekko were fighting the Ninjalinos, but Night Ninja turned to notice Night's glowing emblem.
"What's going on over there?" he asked angrily, thinking his plan would be foiled.
"What the heck?" Fire Feline hissed in bewilderment as he was still pinned down. Night looked back up at him. He smiled and blushed. The black cat knew just what to do.
"I love you," Night said as he gave Fire Feline a gentle kiss on the lips, and the fire cat's eyes widened. The fire cat soon found himself closing his eyes into the kiss. Everyone looked over to the two as Fire Feline's arms wrapped around Night's shoulders.
"Eww! No!" Night Ninja snapped angrily. "Ninjalinos, stop them! Ninjalinos?"
Night Ninja noticed his Ninjalinos saying "aww" at the sight of Night kissing Fire Feline. Fire Feline's emblem glowed cyan as he and Night broke the kiss. Fire Feline smiled warmly, and Night suddenly stood up as Fire Feline suddenly rose into the air. The Ninjalinos' stored rage rubies left their pockets and floated in the air, taking their(the rage rubies') power back from Fire Feline.
"Gasping gekkos!" Gekko said.
"Fluttering feathers!" Owlette said.
Once Fire Feline became Catboy again, he descended down to the Earth in the middle of the park, his position a proposal crouch. Night, Owlette, An Yu, and Gekko walked over to Catboy. The blue cat's eyes were shut, he had a placid expression on his face, and his head was looking toward the ground.
"Catboy, you there?" Night asked, getting closest to Catboy. Catboy raised his head and opened his eyes. He smiled warmly and blushed.
"I love you too, Night," Catboy said. "Thanks for coming to save me."
The two cats shared a hug, and Owlette, An Yu, and Gekko were happy for them. All the heroes then looked over to the ninjas, who were trying to run away.
"Get back here! Owl Wing Wind!" Owlette said as she flew in the air and blew the ninjas off their feet, giving them a hard time leaving the park.
"Hand over the rage rubies, Night Ninja," An Yu ordered sternly. Night Ninja reluctantly obeyed.
"Take them. They're too unpredictable anyways," the blue ninja said, getting up and running off into the night with his Ninjalinos. "This isn't over, Night Jaguar!"
Owlette flew back over to the heroes.
"See ya, Night Ninja!" Night meowed, waving in Night Ninja's direction and turning back to Catboy.
"Delighted to have you back, Catboy," An Yu said, holding the rage rubies. Everyone gave Catboy a hug.
"Thanks, An Yu. I'm glad I don't have angry thoughts in my mind taking me over anymore," Catboy said, standing up. Night and the other heroes stood up as well. Night put a hand on Catboy's shoulder.
"I'm sorry for teasing you too much," Night apologized. "I should've been more sensitive."
"You're alright, Night," Catboy replied. Night chuckled.
"By the way, I uh...actually showed Owlette and Gekko the scene of me flirting with you in the Cat Car," Night said.
"You WHAT?!" Catboy hissed, burying his red cheeks in his hands. Owlette and Gekko laughed, and An Yu just chuckled, as she wasn't there.
"Night, you've gone crazy," Catboy joked, looking at Night and then at all his friends as they laughed. "PJ Masks, all shout hooray..."
"'Cause in the night, Night Panther saved the day!" the heroes declared, making poses in the air.
