Obito was pretty much trapped. Minato had a mark on him, so if he tried attacking and materializing, it could lead to his instant death.
He was fighting against the Yellow Flash here, one single mistake would be enough to cost his life.
He had to be careful.
Before he could continue his thoughts, Minato was on him, slashing and kicking at him.
A smile crept up Obito's lips as the attacks went through him. His old sensei was too wrapped up in his emotions, perhaps he could use that to his advantage and catch him off guard.
"Sensei!" Kakashi's piercing voice rang out, echoing around the empty base they were in. "You need to calm down! You're doing exactly what he wants you to do, remember Hiruzen's words!"
Right as Kakashi said that, Obito made a quick few hand seals.
"Wood style: Wood Dragon Jutsu!"
Minato's eyes widened when a wooden dragon flew toward him. He managed to teleport away just in time, and heard it explode in the distance.
Minato couldn't believe it. That was The First Hokage's ability, how the hell did he manage to get his hands on it?
Whatever the case was, however many abilities he had, none of them would save him from getting killed.
Yes! Think about your wife, that man is solely responsible for the death of her. We have to end him. A low angry voice rumbled inside his head, making Minato grit his teeth.
He took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. Kakashi was right, and he did promise Hiruzen that he'd keep his anger in check.
Now wasn't the time to get caught up in his emotions.
His eyes were stuck on the masked man, trying to think of a way to force him to materialize.
He teleported back to Obito but this time he was a lot more careful, all his slashes and kicks were timed better and were more precise.
The sloppiness was gone.
Kakashi breathed out a sigh of relief when he saw his Sensei switch, that was The Yellow Flash he remembered.
The two fought. Well, it was more of Minato fighting and trying to coax the masked man to materialize.
Suddenly, Kakashi took his eyes away from the fight, eyebrows furrowing in confusion when he felt a chakra source from outside the base.
Eyes widening, he had only a second to jump out the way when a man with a scythe burst through, swinging at the previous spot Kakashi was just standing in.
"Looky, looky, what do we have here?" the man laughed, a smug smirk on his lips. His red scythe was resting on his shoulders lazily.
The team of Anbu tensed up.
The man looked back at the wall he just burst through, ignoring Kakashi's shocked stare. "Oi, you coming fatty?"
"Shut your damn mouth, or I'll cut it off." A deep voice grumbled, before another man walked through the destroyed wall.
A mask was covering his mouth, and unlike Hidan's, his eyes were cold.
Minato's eyes snapped to Kakashi for a moment, noticing the newcomers. They were wearing the same exact cloak as the masked man he was facing.
Obito saw his distraction and smirked. He once again, made a quick few hand seals.
"Fire style!" Minato spun around, alarmed. "Fireball jutsu!"
Luckily having experience with that jutsu, he managed to jump out of the way with ease.
However, as soon as he landed back on the ground, he felt a hand on his shoulder. "You're mine, finally."
A distraction! He used the fire jutsu as a distraction and snuck up behind him.
But, just like the other time seven years ago, Minato was faster, and he flashed away before he got sucked in.
Minato looked up when he was a safe distance away, fists clenched in frustration. There he was, once again waiting for him to attack first. That's all this fight was. Minato would attack and the man would just sit there and wait for an opening to attack back.
It was like a game of cat and mouse.
"Who are you?" Kakashi questioned, his Sharingan swirling dangerously. "What are you doing here?"
"Ain't it obvious?" The man with the scythe tilted his head, the cocky smirk never leaving his lips. "You Leaf ninja sure are dumb."
The other man looked at him, eyes piercing. "Kakashi of the Sharingan. I've heard a lot about you."
"Ah yes." He continued, sizing up the masked Jonin. "This one is worth a lot."
Hidan scowled, turning his head to glare at the shorter man. "Is it always about money with you, you greedy asshole?"
Kakuzu ignored him, his eyes going to the Anbu team standing behind Kakashi. "You deal with the Copy ninja, I'll handle the Anbu."
Hidan rolled his eyes, a scoff leaving his lips. "Of course you want me to do all the hard work once again, what's new?"
Kakuzu ignored him and with a burst of speed, he jumped forward, above Kakashi and straight at the team of Anbu.
"Hey!" Kakashi yelled, taking out a Kunai and running after the man.
He was stopped by a red scythe swinging toward his head, he was forced to stop and block it with his Kunai.
His panicked gaze went to the Anbu team.
"Guys, watch out!"
Minato noticed the situation and decided to help.
He made a hand seal.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
A clone appeared and sped off immediately, already knowing what to do.
Minato sighed. He wanted to do more to help out, but didn't want to risk using more of his chakra. He had to save up.
His face hardened, and he once again ran at the masked man, continuing their little game.
Kakuzu was running through the Anbu. He cut through two with ease, and was about to jump at the rest when he suddenly froze, feeling a sharp pain in his chest.
His wide eyes moved down in shock, seeing a Kunai lodged in his heart.
When...?
"Lord Fourth!" The female Anbu yelled, letting out a sigh of relief at the sight of their Hokage now standing between them.
Kakuzu collapsed on the ground.
Kakashi smirked when he saw the look of horror on Hidan's face. He gave him no time to react and attacked him.
Hidan quickly blocked the Jonin's chakra enhanced punch with the back of his arm, before swinging his scythe at him.
The two fought, Kakashi on the offense and Hidan on the defense.
When Hidan saw that none of his attacks were working, he tried something else. Grabbing the loose rope at the end of his scythe, he spun the scythe around and reached much further than before.
Kakashi let out a gasp in surprise and jumped back just in time, but glancing at his bicep he saw blood leaking out.
He must've gotten hit by the scythe. It was only a graze. But it was enough to make him wary of his opponent. The man he was up against was certainly skilled.
They charged at each other again, this time Hidan was the one on the offense and Kakashi was on his back foot, blocking each swing.
Minato's clone shot a smile at the female Anbu when he saw her relief. "I got you."
He was about to puff away, having done his job, when he sensed the dead man's chakra flaring.
Eyes widening in disbelief, he whirled around and jumped away just in time as a massive fire blast hit the previous spot he stood on.
His eyes snapped to a masked, large black creature that had shot the fire blast. Another fire blast flew out of his mouth, but Minato expected it this time and easily jumped away before it could reach him.
Kakuzu lunged forward and slashed at the distracted Hokage with a kunai. Minato whirled around and blocked it with his own kunai, staring the man down.
"The Yellow Flash." Kakuzu started as they clashed, voice light. "It is an honor to face against you." He managed to say right before he blocked a kick with his forearm and jumped far away.
"Don't flatter yourself." The Fourth Hokage scoffed, eyes narrowing. "You're only dealing with a clone here." He finished, throwing a marked kunai at him.
Kakuzu knew what was about to happen before it happened, but wasn't fast enough to react and could do nothing about it.
In an instant, Minato flashed to the kunai above him and formed a rasengan. He slammed it in Kakuzu's back, making him grunt in pain and crumble to the ground.
The real Minato was still trying to find an opening to finish the masked man, to no avail.
He noticed his clone dealing with Kakuzu out of the corner of his eye and smiled.
"You're only delaying your loss." Minato broke the silence between him and the masked man. "I'm taking you out one way or another." he stated matter-of-factly.
Obito tilted his head but said nothing.
"If you surrender now, I might spare you." He lied, truthfully he had no intentions of sparing him.
He would make sure he paid for killing Kushina.
"You're awfully smug, Hokage." The masked man chuckled. "I can't wait to see you drop dead."
Minato snarled, running toward him and the two continued their little game of cat and mouse.
The yellow-haired clone was expecting Kakuzu to get up this time, and just as he theorized another black creature popped out from his body.
"Just how many times do I have to kill you for you to stay down." he huffed, tightening his grip on the kunai.
Kakuzu ripped his cloak off, revealing bunch of masks sticking to his body.
The clone noticed that there were three left, so did that mean that he had three more lives?
The two black masked creatures shot their elemental attacks at the same time, cutting off his thoughts.
"Guys!" Minato yelled at the Anbu team, making them alert. "You deal with those black creatures while I take care of him!"
Lightning and Fire shot toward him just as he finished speaking. He disappeared in a flash and to Kakuzu's shock, appeared right behind him.
How? That was the man's last thought as he got stabbed in the back by a kunai.
"You're marked." The clone casually stated, a smirk appearing on his lips. "I marked you earlier when I killed you."
"There's nothing you can do." He continued, voice turning steely. "I'm in full control of this fight."
Kakashi was doing well against Hidan. While the cloaked man was impressive, he was nothing the Jonin couldn't handle.
Kakashi was confident he would win this fight.
He frowned in confusion when his opponent suddenly jumped far back, creating lot of distance between them.
"What's the matter?" Kakashi tilted his head. "Getting nervous?"
The cold smirk he got in response made him shiver.
What was he up to?
He was even more confused when his opponent, who was a moment ago trying to kill him, started drawing on the ground?
Kakashi watched stunned, as the man drew an insignia, using his own blood.
Disgusting.
He shook the shock off his system and cursed at himself. What was he doing? He should be finishing him off while he was distracted.
He walked toward Hidan a little warily as the man licked his scythe.
There was something about the guy that made Kakashi's skin crawl.
The Jonin was about to lunge at him when suddenly the man's appearance completely changed, making Kakashi freeze on the spot.
His skin turned black, adorned with white markings, resembling a skeletal figure.
"What is going on?" Kakashi finally shouted and attempted to lunge at the man.
Two things happened while Kakashi was jumping toward him. Hidan stabbed himself in the leg, and a sharp intense pain shot through Kakashi's own leg, making him drop to the ground with a pained grunt.
He looked up at the man in disbelief, sweat drops rolling down his face.
"H-How?" he stuttered out, holding his leg and biting his bottom lip behind his mask to keep himself from screaming.
Hidan threw his head back, letting out a loud cackle. "Ohh, man that felt good!"
Minato's blood ran cold, seeing what happened between the two.
"Kakashi!"
His eyes went to his clone, not understanding why he wasn't already helping his student, when his mouth fell open.
He was fighting Kakuzu, but didn't Kakuzu just die?
His thoughts were cut off by his student's muffled scream. His face paled when he saw the man stab himself in the same spot on his leg again, making Kakashi curl up on the ground in pain.
Anger shot through Minato at the state of his student. He made a quick hand seal and this time two clones appeared.
"Do whatever you can to rescue Kakashi." Minato growled out. "That is your top priority."
The clones nodded, speeding toward the Jonin.
"You never learn, do you?"
He heard a dark voice come from behind him and blinked, he had been so worried about Kakashi that he had forgotten about the masked man completely.
This time when he felt himself getting sucked in, he realized with a sickening feeling that it was too late to escape out of it.
He had been too distracted, and now paid the price for it.
"Minato-sensei!" Kakashi's loud scream echoed throughout the base when The Fourth Hokage and the masked man disappeared out of their sights.
How we feeling about this one? Started off good?
