Logan kicked his shoes off as he landed on the couch in his apartment. He glanced around noticed that the housekeeper had boxed up more stuff for his upcoming move. He absent-mindedly clicked the remote to turn on something - anything - to dull his thoughts. What a weird night he had... How on Earth had karma put him in the exact hospital where he had to meet Rory's fiance no less than four times. Why was that guy constantly popping up like whack-a-mole?

Logan's mind wouldn't turn off, no matter how tired he was. He decided to grab a shower. After brushing his teeth, he finally passed out on his bed.

About seven hours later and three blocks away, Colin met Finn for lunch. Finn was already at the table when Colin arrived. He was on the phone, speaking wildly to someone. "Well, dig deeper!"... "You're just going to have to find something."..."If this bloke cheated on his second grade girlfriend, I need to know her name and what color her knickers were!" Colin grimaced at this comment... "Alright, well, dig deeper! There is always something."... "No, you can do it. Let me know if you need any more resources or incentive."... "Alright, thank you again." Finn finally hung up and faced Colin.

Colin made a face and asked, "Why in the hell are you inquiring about a second grader's underwear? Its creepy as fuck."

Finn waved away the comment, "I was speaking to my PI. It seems that Love's future husband is a damn boy scout!"

Colin squeezed the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Really? You don't have anything?"

Finn shook his head, "So far, no. This bloke goes from work, to home, to the gym, to home, to work, and so forth and so on." Colin sighed as Finn continued. "I thought for a minute we might have something. He had a few coffees with an older woman, but she turned out to be his mother," he said with a groan. "He doesn't even see Rory very much. He has good credit. Not even a library fine!"

Colin exclaimed, "Ugh! He's so boring! Why does she want to be with someone so boring?"

Finn shook his head, threw back the rest of his scotch and motioned the server for another. "Okay, what else?" he asked as a he slammed his hand on the table a little too loudly.

Colin was hesitant, but finally said, "Well, I might have an angle. But its a long shot."

"Hit me with it!" Finn exclaimed.

"Well, do you remember how Rory's grandparents donated that building to Yale about five years ago?" Finn shook his head. "Right. Well, anyway, they did. Its the one with the gigantic lettering that are taller than her." Finn scrunched up his face and motioned for Colin to continue. "So the annual fundraising gala is happening next month for the building. If he name is on the building, I figure she has to go, right?"

Finn motioned for him to 'wrap it up.' "Get to the point!"

"I am. I'm trying to explain. Anyway, the gala is coming up and she should be there. One of Logan's little pet projects is a tech company that works with projectors and space. I found out that the planetarium is replacing their main projectors for the gala. If we can finagle things so that they win the bid for the contract, he would almost have to attend the gala."

Finn shook his head. "That's a lot of ifs." He shrugged. "But I have faith in you to pull this off," he commented as he reached over and smacked Colin on the arm.

Colin smirked. "So... back in the day, Logan's biggest fan was Emily Gilmore. She needs to know that a company Logan is attached to has bid on the contract. She's such a label whore that she would love to have the Huntzberger name attached to the charity, even just a little. The Dark Lord and Shira are huge Yale donors - Emily Gilmore would LOVE to make them come to a building emblazoned with her last name AND find out that their son was in attendance on his own accord."

Finn grinned like a Cheshire cat. "You bloody evil genius!"

"Yes, yes I am," Colin agreed.

"So," Finn asked. "How are you going to do it?"

"I have no idea whatsoever." Colin put his head in his hands. "But its a start!" His phone chimed and he glanced at it before saying, "Hey, I have a surprise for you."

Finn's mouth dropped open as Rory Gilmore walked in. She looked around and found the boys at their table. They immediately stood up to greet her.

"Love!" Finn hugged her so tight that he picked her up off the ground. "Why didn't you tell me the most beautiful non-ginger woman in the world was joining us?" he admonished Colin.

"Hey, Rory," Colin said as he gave her an around-the-shoulder hug.

"Oh my goodness," she said. "Its so great to see you both again." She sat took off her coat and sat down. "So, how are you? Tell me everything," she said as she looked from one man to the other. She turned her attention to Finn. "Please tell me you have 4 kids by now and a pregnant wife and a station wagon?"

Colin burst out laughing. Finn said, "Would you believe everything but the station wagon?"

Rory replied, "Nope," with a big smile.

Colin said, "Good."

Finn said, "Actually, none of that. I'm just working, playing, and causing trouble. You know..."

Rory nodded, "No one special in your life?"

Finn smirked at her, "Only about three dozen special people in my life, but I'm saving the top spot for you, Love!"

Rory laughed, "Well, bad news. I'm taken. By the end of the year, I'll be a married woman."

Colin replied, "No! We can't have one more woman out of the dating pool. Its so shallow already."

Rory smiled, "Yeah, its true. He's great. Maybe we can have dinner sometime and I can introduce you?"

Finn nodded, "Yeah, maybe." Rory picked up her menu to peruse as Finn took a deep breath. "Hey, Love, may I ask you a question?"

Rory hid behind her menu a little but peeked over it and said, "Sure, Finn. What's up?"

Colin groaned as he figured out where Finn was going with this. Finn finally said, "Why did you say no?"

"What?" she asked earnestly.

"To Logan. He was madly in love with you and wanted to give you the world," Finn said.

Rory held up her hand, "Finn... it just wasn't the right time. I was SO young. I loved him, I did. But I wasn't ready to be someone's wife. He knew exactly what he wanted and I had no idea... I needed time to figure it out," she said as she looked from Finn to Colin and back to Finn.

Finn said, "You really broke his heart," he said sadly.

"I'm sorry, Finn. That wasn't my intention," she replied.

"He wasn't the only one," Finn said honestly.

"I know. I'm sorry."

"Reporter Girl, you never even said goodbye! Its like you broke up with us too!" Colin said.

She pursed her lips and said, "I know. I'm so sorry. But I didn't break up with him. I said no and he broke up with me."

Colin had to respond. "You know Logan. You really thought his pride would allow him to continue to face someone who turned down his marriage proposal? Come the fuck on!"

Rory sighed. She really thought they would have surface-level conversation and she wouldn't have to have this sort of confrontation over lunch.
