"SECURITY TEAM STAND DOWN!"
Tarvek did like that the Tau'ri humans maintained proper security, for the weapons and technology available to them at least, as he stepped through their portal, walking behind the female Captain Carter. They did not trust him entirely, as was proper, but they treated him with respect as weapons were lowered and he stomped down the ramp in his full armour. Combat ready as ever, though he carried, visibly, a medical case in one armoured hand, and a scanner in the other. He could have left them in his Compass storage, but it was a way to hide that function, all while visibly showing that he was here to help their fallen collegue.
"He's agreed to offer his help Daniel" the blonde-haired Carter was saying to bald headed General Hammond as the man emerged from behind a security door "Brought supplies that may be able to help with the radiation poisoning"
Tarvek was still rather curious how that happened, but not to the others, but it could wait till after he'd begun treating the patient "I have brought anti-radiation medication and purgatives. If you would allow me to make an effort, please provide a write confirmation and I shall proceed"
The human General gave the female a look, and Tarvek watched her gave a 'helpless' gesture "It's what he's said Sir"
"You'll have it" the man replied, motioning for one of subordinates to get such a piece of paper "Please follow Captain Carter to the medical wing. I've alerted all squads along the way. I will be with you in a few moments with your confirmation"
"Thank you" it was best to be polite, and so Tarvek offered up such words, then immediately following behind the stressed and exhausted female soldier. Apparently, she was close to the scholar-soldier of her team, Jackson, and idly he wondered if they were lovers perhaps, or just they were close due to being both scholars. He had to stoop a little, as the power armour made his size mildly problematic at points. Unfortunate, but unsurprising as they were short and he was tall even without the armour, and this was not a League facility. Such minor things served to remind him of that fact.
'Troops don't have sufficient firepower to deal with to see so far' he judged, being escorted passed soldiers armed with small arms and grenades as best his systems identified. Not even the handheld energy weapons of the Gou'ald so far, though he expected they had them and heavier weapons somewhere. Tarvek didn't judge them on such, as there could be many reasons for, largely to be polite as he was here to perform a task for them, even it made guards wary. Getting out of his suit around a biohazard, such as radiation, wasn't something he planned on doing after all.
"…painkillers already given" Tarvek picked up their medicus telling one of the others….ah, the Colonel, O'Neill, as they were discussing the patient. The conversation immediately ended as he neared, noticing his armoured footsteps at last. Proof he'd fixed the padding and silencing systems Tarvek supposed, as it was hard to sneak in heavy power armour. And it was…
{Alert!} (High Rad Source Detected} {Alert!} flashed up silently on his HUD, and that indicated that…
'Indeed, that is disturbingly high level of exposure' Tarvek thought, even without seeing the human swathed in bandages that indicated his body was dying, rapidly. Not dead yet, and not without hope either if his sensors were correct as it was within treatable ranges…at an eyeball. Though it might be a resource intensive situation, and that would cost them if that was the expected result 'Assuming he can saved of course'
Their medicus looked, glared, up at him "You have some way to help?"
"I believe so" he answered calmly, holding up his crate "I carry medication that drains radioactivity from living bodies, and is human compatible. We refer to it as Rad Away, and there is a detailed explanation, but such studies are not for sale. You will allow me to treat him with such. Or not. It is your choice"
"He has permission to go ahead. Considering Doctor Jackson's situation we have limited options remaining, and if it can help…" the General appeared, holding a wooden board with paper clipped upon, clearly his signature upon it. Something evident as he removed the paper, handing it to Tarvek's armoured hand "As requested, approval is given. For what it is worth"
"The word and signature of an honourable man is always worth a great deal" Tarvek answered simply, helmet towards the patient "I am trained only an assistant medicus, a field medicus essentially, but I will do my best to aid him. The packs can supply their contents into his body via the methods you are currently using for fluids and painkillers as best my eyes discern. Then a flush tube can be inserted to begin removal. I have with me a field storage for such extract"
"Because the exposure would be dangerous?"
"Yes" Tarvek stated honestly to Captain Carter "The tubes and extractor are shielded as the extracted fluid shall be highly toxic and radioactive. Especially with the levels I judge present"
"Then tell me what you need us to do, or if you need us to stay out of the way" their senior medicus "Are you going to get out of the suit…"
"No. Not till he is recovered. I have protocols that I must follow in situations like this" he stated firmly "I will be careful not to cause damage to the surgery"
"Yes, please do not" the medicus stated with concern, but gestured for her staff to stand back and allow Tarvek to get to work "Now show us what you need us to do"
Tarvek placed down the medical supply pack on the ground, unlocking it with a word, making sure to show the contents to the humans. Then, slowly and carefully, began to detail what he was going to do, as well as what he required them to do. Which was mostly staying out of his way, but also detailing what chemicals they were pumping into the dying scholar-soldier as well as clearing space for Tarvek to run a proper scan of the still lucid patient with his medical scanner. The results were…
'His spirit is reaction with vast flaring?' that puzzled Tarvek as he studied the reading, as that was…well, not within the normal range of things "This….Naqradqia or Naqu…this device and metal he was exposed to; please detail more of it to me?"
He had to ask, as there was something odd about the whole thing. There was far too much interference with his systems, and the more they talked of it, the more it seemed to incorporate higher realms energy interactions within it. It was related to the strange metal of the 'stargate' ring-portals seemingly, and that would make sense to Tarvek as he setup the drips and the extractor, feeding the fluid into the patient's bloodstream as the man was too badly affected for eating any medication. Tarvek suspected he would be able to drink either without reacting by vomiting as he studied and planned this battle, answering questions about various ideas even as he began the potentially time-consuming process.
"Something is…interfering with my scanner. Curious" he stated after some time had passed, and questioned were asked on what was taking him so long after he'd stated it would "The radiation? No that is…"
{ALERT!} and then the answer came to his concern as a verbal alert came as suit systems were reading the scanners…
{UNKNOWN ENERGY PRESENCE DETECTED!} it warbled {ALERT!}
Tarvek paused, looking at his suit…but the wards were not flaring?
'A wraith? His god as he dies?' popped into his mind, then asking the obvious "The doctor is not a priest? Or has a strong relation with his deity?"
"Danny? No?" the Colonel stated in confusion, then more serious "Why?"
"Something is…interfering? Perhaps? I am unsure" Tarvek opted for blunt honesty "It interacts similar to such an event as I queried. There is…"
{ALERT!} {ENERGY SPIKE! MANIFESTATION LEVEL-DELTA IN PROGRESS!} (ALERT!}
…and then a glowing human female avatar was standing before them. There was divine energy around, then focused presence, though Tarvek's wards merely hummed rather than reacted violently in defence. This was not an attack, but a manifestation in a confined space, and the humans around Tarvek were not possessed, clearly, as they reacted by drawing weapons in several cases. The spirit-avatar was unafraid…
Tarvek's eyes narrowed. It was merely an illusion rather than a true avatar, a shadow of a shadow of a shadow that may be something greater distant, or something this weak. Then the avatar of the man who was dying on the table appeared beside her, waving a hand "Ah, high guys?"
"You are higher levelled than I understood to astral project in such a manifestation Doctor Jackson" Tarvek spoke loudly, before fearful or angry reactions spread "And greetings other entity yet unnamed"
Who was glaring at him angrily "Oma Desala, you may call me Oma. And have interfered in things you should not outsider"
"I have been contracted to save their colleague's life, Spirit naming itself Oma" Tarvek replied very carefully, falling back on his shaman's training "Why do you interfere?"
"I do not interfere" that hit a nerve "He is choosing his path"
"Ah, yeah, there's…much I can do as…" Doctor Jackson seemed confused, but honest "Something…greater"
Tarvek frowned "Some form of Exaltation? Ascension?"
He starred when there was an affirmative gesture…
That was…okay...
"What is the nature of this Pact?" he then stated seriously "What price is being demanded? What restrictions are to be imposed?"
"Ahh, what?" the avatar of the man dying on the bed said "We were…"
"What do you know of such things?" the spirit-avatar-maybe-goddess demanded, looking concerned. Strangely showing very human emotions, that weren't helping her case.
"So it is that…" Tarvek was….frightened, but pushed it down. Fear did not serve here. Duty called, even if they were not his tribe or clan "There is always a price to pacts with such beings, even benign ones. My own Lord warns of such. For to be more than mortal makes one…inhuman in thought and action at times. Such beings do not, cannot, offer such pacts freely. Because there is always a cost to raise up another. Such are usually chosen followers, great leaders, and champions that have proven themselves. Is she your Patron Doctor Jackson? How is this be achieved? What are the terms of the…"
"SO BE IT!" the Great Spirit announced, flaring with light….
Then both avatars vanished. Gone as suddenly as they were here. The man in the bed gasping and opening his eyes, body…
Healing.
Tarvek…had questions. Many questions.
