Mia entered the building for the second time in a week. It was just as sketchy and dark as the first time she was there.
It was the cheapest repair shop in the area and it wasn't in her budget to get a new phone.
The building was more of a hole in the wall with generations of different tech that lined the walls and she was sure that it was a fire hazard to have so many wires hanging from the ceiling.
"Hello." She called out as she rang the bell at the desk.
There was a groan and following that, heavy footsteps.
A lanky guy came out of the back. His hair was long and pulled back in a low ponytail. He wore glasses and clothes double his size with a pair of hard work boots. Which was an odd choice for someone in the tech field.
"Oh, um, I dropped off my phone last week. The names Mia Carson."
The guy just looked at her for a moment before opening up a drawer behind the desk.
It sounded a bit concerning to hear him moving the contents around like it was your average junk drawer.
Her eyes drifted around the room. Then again, she was paying for what she was getting.
The guy nonchalantly drops a phone onto the desk.
She picks it up to inspect it. The screen was no longer shattered and the back now had a different panel that covered the battery. It was a dark purple with a digital V on it. Probably the tech company they work with.
The random panel didn't bother her though. Her new case would cover it.
She heard the guy tapping his finger on the table.
"Oh, I already paid the other guy."
"I'm not supposed to let you leave till after you turn it on."
"Oh." She looks down at the device and turns it on.
It turns on and statics. For a moment she thought it was worse than when she dropped it off. But the static comes together to create a V shaped logo similar to the one on the back.
' Vox Tech '
She lets out a sigh of relief as it continues to boot and goes to her home screen. Showcasing a picture of herself and Natalie. It was the last picture they took together. Halloween three years ago and they were both dressed like devils.
"Thank you." She looked up and the guy was already in the back of the building.
It was later that evening when Mia really sat down with the new phone and began to notice a few preinstalled apps that she couldn't remove. They were apps by Vox Tech. She huffed as she began to create a folder to put all the apps in.
Guess this wasn't technically Samsung anymore but some 'Vox Tech Knockoff'.
She paused when she saw what appeared to be a dating app. Not one that she's ever heard of before.
Her finger lingers over the app, a distant memory of Natalie's voice telling her that she should start dating again. Encouraging her to find someone. To not be alone since her daughter was grown.
The memory didn't bring tears to her eyes like it once had and it didn't trigger anxiety or panic like it had in the past. She missed her daughter but it wasn't debilitating like it once was.
With that in mind she makes the decision to click the app and start making a profile.
"Come on Dad. It's about time. And I even sent you the perfect profile picture!" Charlie was enthusiastic at the idea, while Lucifer just eye'd the app wearily.
"I don't know Char-Char. I really only just want to focus on our relationship."
"Dad, you've moved into the hotel and we see each other everyday."
"Yeah, come on yer majesty. You don't even have ta use your photo. The site lets you use icons." Angel Dust spoke over the couch while they continued to flip through a magazine.
Lucifer's eye wandered across the table to his daughter who was holding hands with her partner. Watching her living happily with Vaggie did give him a sense of longing for the same thing.
He let out a heavy sigh, "Okay. But I'll be using the icons. Sorry Apple Pie but if I'm going to do this I want the person to talk to me for me and not because I'm the King of Hell."
"Though that title of yours got you a lot of high class ass back in the day." Angel Dust spoke up, "Unless yer sayin that you've been celibate since Lily left ya."
"Fuck you."
"Gladly, King of Hell would look great on my resume. But hey, Fucked an Angel will also add some spark to yours too."
Lucifer was about to throw some profanities at the spider. He's fucked since Lilith. He's been with a demon or two.
"Ooh Kay." Charlie spoke up, "I think I'm done hearing about who my Dad has and hasn't fucked." She placed her hand on his, "I think this will be good for you."
He shared a soft smile with his daughter as he clicked the app to start making a profile.
