Yoda held the two horses in a Force hold until the two of them finally started to get tired. Once they stopped thrashing around so much, Yoda let the two of them down.
"Talk, you will. Calm, you will be." Yoda said, sternly. "Settle this here and now, we shall."
"I don't wanna talk to her!" Remix said.
"And I'm not speaking to my pathetic brother!" Magenta said.
"At least we agree on something." Remix said. "And I am not pathetic! You are."
Magenta spit a raspberry at Remix.
Yoda sighed.
"Close you were, were you not?" Yoda said.
The two horses said nothing.
"A deep breath, take, both of you."
Inconveniently, that was when the two mariclavas started to arrive, and everyone's bracelets began to glow.
"Oh, sugar!" Peppermint cursed when she saw her rider's bracelet glowing.
"Remix and Magenta arguing must be attracting them!" Obi-Wan panicked. "Let's hope Master Yoda can calm them in time."
"Why should I breathe the same air as him?" said Magenta.
"You're no better than anypony else, Magenta! When will you get that through your thick skull?!"
"I don't need your advice, Remix. I'm fine! I get what I want just by asking."
"ENOUGH! Both of you."
Both horses froze. Remix personally knew Yoda longer, and knew that him raising his voice was thought to have been utterly impossible.
"Breathe, both of you. Immediately."
Albeit reluctantly, per Yoda's instructions, the two horses closed their eyes and took a deep breath in... and out. In... and out. And one more time, in... and out.
And as the mariclavas came, they suddenly began to flutter away as the horses were calm now.
"What is this?!" said Mariverde angrily. "How did those negative emotions just vanish?"
Mariverde looked in her magic mirror and saw it was Yoda who'd calmed them down. She couldn't believe this was happening.
Remix lived with the royal family. If she clavatized him, he would likely know how to get the crown jewels. But now that he was calm and so was his sister, the mariclavas had no negativity to feed on.
"Hmm... it appears I may need to resort to another method of attack."
"Talk, we will." Yoda said. "Each side, we shall hear. Who will start?"
"I will." Magenta said. "Okay. It should be obvious. Remix is jealous that I became famous after the record company wanted just me, not him."
Remix wanted to say something, but Yoda held up a hand to tell him to remain silent.
"The people at the recording studio said Remix was cute and all, but they said it was better to have the focus on me and my hot bod. In other words, he was a distraction. So, now I'm the big star I am now. If Remix wanted that, he shoulda just found another record label to represent him."
Yoda had Magenta stopped.
"Remix, your turn it is." said Yoda.
Remix gave his side of the story about how he was hurt by Magenta leaving her family behind and never acknowledging them.
"She chose fame and fortune above her own family who had done nothing but love her." Remix said. "All I ever wanted was to bring people together through music, but instead, it tore my family apart when Magenta got famous. So, I vowed never to strive for fame and fortune, and only to do music when it would bring folks together."
Magenta looked at her brother and snorted.
"The music industry is a hard one, but the chance comes only once in a lifetime. I had to choose that then and there."
"There are plenty of record labels across the galaxy, Magenta. But family, the people you love, you're only gonna have them once."
"Didn't your rider's little sister bring her grandparents back from the dead?" she pointed out.
"Yes, but she's not gonna do it again because that would upset the universal balance of life and death. And that's not the point. Careers come and go. One minute you're on top in the industry, the next, you're a has-been."
"Well, I'm not one."
"Are you sure?" Remix said. "Because I haven't heard a new song from you in years, or seen you work with any influencers at all."
"I've been busy."
"Doing what? Looking in the mirror?"
"Start fighting, you must not." Yoda warned. "Remix. Hurt, you were, by your sister. Why?"
Remix looked down and said, "Magenta was the one who inspired me to make music when I was small."
Magenta really opened her eyes when she heard that.
When their mother died after giving birth to Remix, Magenta was the first motherly figure Remix had, other than Lavendera.
Magenta cared for her little brother so much when he was a foal. She took him under her wing every night to keep warm, fed him his bottle of milk, and she taught him how to sing and dance as he got older. And before they knew it, they were a dynamic duo.
The two used to play together so much, and ponies began to take notice of their talents.
"Eventually, we got picked to be on Enchan-Tunes." said Remix. "And you already know what happened after that."
Yoda liked what he was seeing so far. Each horse was now reflecting on what the other said, and thus the Jedi Grand Master made his next move.
"Time to reflect, take, each of you." Yoda said. "Magenta, with Kara Jinn, go. Remix, with Qui-Gon Jinn. Communicate with them, you will. Return in one hour, here."
The siblings weren't sure what to make of this. But, they each went with the humans Yoda assigned them to.
Remix walked with Qui-Gon through the Jedi Temple.
"I just don't know what to think at this point." said Remix. "I mean, does she even feel sorry for what she did? Or is she only playing along so she can leave again as soon as the month is up?"
Qui-Gon listened to Remix and knew the feeling all too well. Knowing his old master had turned to the Dark Side and now was serving the rest of his life in prison, it broke his heart. He sometimes felt similar to Remix.
He wondered, did Dooku feel any remorse deep down for the things he did? Or was he only sorry he got caught?
"I understand you are hurt, Remix." Qui-Gon said. "I too have struggled with a loved one turning to a dark path. My former master... he was like a father to me."
"And now he's in prison for war crimes against the Republic."
Qui-Gon looked down sadly and said, "Yes. I have long since learned to accept the reality, but I never did stop caring for him."
"What makes you so sure he even feels the same way about you?" Remix sighed. "God knows my sister doesn't care squat about me."
"Remix, that is not true."
"You saw how she treated everyone out there, including your grandchildren." Remix sniffed as a tear fell. "Magenta made a promise to me years ago that we would make music together and never let stuff like fame or fortune come between us. And look where we are now!"
Remix collapsed and cried into the floor.
Qui-Gon knelt down and pet Remix's mane.
Meanwhile, Kara walked with Magenta through the palace garden.
"Mmm... roses. My favorite." Magenta said, sniffing some.
"My little brother Anakin grew those himself, you know." Kara said.
"Your brother gardens?" said Magenta. "I thought he was a choreographer or something."
"That's Carmine."
"How unlucky you are. You got stuck with two brothers." Magenta said.
"I don't believe it's unlucky. In fact, I feel very fortunate to have my brothers."
"Why? Don't your parents make you share everything with them or something?"
"We are grownups. But we do share things with each other. It's what family does. Besides, they are the reason my nieces and nephews exist now. Maybe someday Remix will bless you with a niece or nephew or two."
Magenta stifled a laugh.
"He'd have to get a mare friend first. And who would go out with him?"
Kara scoffed at Magenta's arrogance returning.
"If I were an equine and closer in age to your brother, I might." Kara said. "Remix is a wonderful stallion, and you should know it."
"If he were so great, he'd be the one with the albums and popularity."
"Why is popularity even so important to you?"
"It ensures that I will be seen as important and be respected. You should see my Insta-Star page. I've got tons of friends."
"Can you name any of them?"
"Sure... there's, uh... TumbleBeeJ49, StreetCaroline99-"
"I mean their real names."
"Why would I know their real names? No one uses their real name on social media sites."
"Then how can they be your friends if you don't even know their names?"
"No one even remembers names."
Kara looked unamused, and then she named some friends and friends of the family.
"My brother Carmine's best friend is named Sanjay Peralta. Two of the closest friends of the family are Obi-Wan Kenobi who is married to Duchess Satine, and Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's former student. Their pony friends are Peppermint and Fiesta. In our family, the pony friends we have thus far are your cousins Carousella and Crescent, your brother Remix, as well as Harmony and Sapphire."
"Okay, so you can name a lot of names, but I can remember names."
"Prove it then."
Kara brought Magenta back inside and they approached a familiar Togruta Jedi Master and purple unicorn with a gold mane as they were helping with tablecloths for the coronation.
"Can you name either of these two?" said Kara.
Magenta looked at the two and said, "Easy. Sharon and Sunflower."
"My name is Sunheart." said the unicorn. "And my rider is name Shaak Tii."
"Oh, that's a real shock." Magenta said. "Your parents couldn't pick a better name?"
"My name means 'healer' in the tribe I was born in." Shaak said.
"I was talking to your horse." Magenta said.
Sunheart snorted in offense. "Let's go, Shaak."
And the togruta and unicorn walked off in anger.
"That wasn't very nice, Magenta." said Kara.
"No one made it in the music industry being nice." said Magenta, helping herself to some chocolate covered strawberries Strawberry set down, only to spit them right back out. "This is milk chocolate!"
"Oh, I'm sorry." Strawberry said. "Are you lactose intolerant?"
"No, but would it kill you to use dark chocolate? Or at least make treats that don't taste like dirt?"
"My rider and I just started our own sweet shop, and people tend to like our treats," said Strawberry, scrunching her nose. "Thank you very much."
"You poison a lot of customers?"
"Why, I oughta-!"
Mace hugged Strawberry to hold her back.
"Let me at her!" Strawberry snorted.
"Strawberry! Down! She's not worth it." said the human. "I don't know what you got away with when you were touring or whatever, but in these parts, not watching your mouth is unacceptable."
"No wonder Remix tried to prank you out of here." Strawberry said, walking away with her rider.
Kara glared at Magenta.
"Have you learned nothing?" said the princess.
"What is there to learn?"
"For one thing, you could learn to be nicer. And don't say famous people don't have to, because it just so happens that I've gotten to know Count Crescendo personally, and he is a very kind man. Genuinely adores his fans and just about everyone around him, in fact."
"Yeah, right." Magenta said.
"No, I'm serious. Caroline is his manager."
"I'll believe it when I see it."
Kara then took out her phone and sent a text message.
Carmine, meanwhile, was giving Boba another guitar lesson, when his phone started buzzing.
Magenta wants to speak to Count Crescendo.
"Oh boy." Carmine sighed. "I hoped it wouldn't come to this."
Carmine sent a text to Anakin then.
Time to make a switcheroo.
Sometime later...
Magenta sat in one of the meeting rooms in the palace to await Count Crescendo's arrival.
And soon in from the doors came Count Crescendo with orange hair covering his face to compliment the red orange outfit he wore. He made sure his voice modulator was on too.
"I understand an old acquaintance wanted to speak with me." said Carmine, now as Count Crescendo.
"Count Crescendo. I see you came to apologize." said Magenta.
"Apologize?" said Crescendo. "For what?"
"For quitting on me two years ago. You coulda increased your fame big time."
"You mean you could have." Crescendo said, crossing his arms. "Your record company contacted me and asked me to do a duet with you so I could help more people know about you."
"Whatever. You made a mistake then."
"You called my choreographer's daughter a black sheep in a dress!"
"Don't exaggerate."
"I'm not. I remember it clear as day."
Flashback two years ago...
Count Crescendo was speaking with Magenta's manager about the duet. Caroline set Lamenta down and told her to go help herself to some grapes that were set on the table.
So, Lamenta did help herself to a yummy snack of grapes.
"Want some, Lammy?" Lamenta said, pretending to feed her lamb some grapes.
That was when Mistress Majestica entered the room.
"Ah, there's my star." said Magenta's manager. "Meet Count Crescendo."
"Charmed." Magenta said, shaking hoof to hand with Crescendo.
"It's a pleasure, Miss Majestica." said Crescendo.
Magenta excused herself to get herself a bite, when Lamenta got excited to see her. She loved horses and music. So, she was excited to get to meet a famous pop star who was a pony.
"Hi." Lamenta said, approaching Mistress Majestica. "I'm Lamenta."
Lamenta held up her sheep.
"This is my sheep Lammy."
"Get that toy out of my face, will you?" said Magenta whacking the plushie away with her hoof.
"Lammy!" Lamenta exclaimed, picking up her toy and hugging it. "Are you okay?"
"It's a toy. It's not a real sheep."
"Lammy doesn't like being called a toy."
"You want a real sheep, so bad, kid? Have you looked in the mirror lately?"
Lamenta's eyes widened.
"I'm not a sheep. I'm a little girl."
"Really? The hair threw me. How did you even get in here? Was Little Bo Beep looking to boost her career too, and then lose one of her sheep?"
Lamenta had tears in her eyes as Magenta just continued to insult the poor girl.
"I'm wondering too... when you can't sleep at night, do you just look in the mirror and count yourself?"
"Mommy!" Lamenta cried, running to her mother.
Caroline immediately took Lamenta into her arms.
Crescendo approached Magenta and said, "How dare you?!"
"How dare I what?" Magenta said.
"Don't try to act innocent. We just saw you insulting Lamenta."
"You know this kid?"
"She's my daughter!" Caroline said angrily, comforting her crying daughter. "Oh, don't cry, Baby. Mommy's here."
"You'd better apologize to her right now." Crescendo said.
"What for? It's not my fault she has sheep hair."
Crescendo's eyes might not have been visible, but he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists in anger.
"Do you really think I got to where I am by acting the way you are now?" Crescendo asked.
"Pfft! When did I ask for your life story?" Magenta said.
"Uh... Majestica..." said her manager nervously. "Please apologize to them."
"I may be a big star, but I have morals. And I don't sing just for popularity. I do what I do to inspire others, and spread awareness on the message to spread love and support for those in need. And one of the causes I stand for is to stop bullying. Clearly, you wouldn't understand that."
"What I understand is that we have a duet tomorrow and we need rehearsals to begin now."
"You really think I'm gonna sing with you now? We're done here."
"What did you say?"
"You heard me. You'll never sing with Count Crescendo, because I quit! Caroline, let's go."
"With pleasure." Caroline said.
"Come here, Lamenta." Crescendo said, taking the child into his arms and hugging her as they walked away.
"No, no! Mr. Crescendo, please!" begged the other manager.
But no matter what Magenta's manager said, nothing would change Crescendo's mind.
Present Day...
"And you still won't get that duet." Crescendo said. "I don't support stars who make little girls cry and don't feel any remorse for it."
"Well, I'm sorry." Magenta said. "Happy now?"
"No! I'm not even the one you should be apologizing to. Even if you did say it to Lamenta, the way you said it shows you still hold no remorse for any of the things you've done."
"At least I appreciate the fame and don't hide behind a mask."
"Well excuse me if I don't want to be followed by the paparazzi when I'm not at work. Even stars need a little privacy."
"Come on. Who are you really under that wig?" said Magenta, getting closer until Kara pulled her back.
"Magenta. One way to be more respectful is not pulling someone's hair off, wig or not."
Magenta, however, started to be very uncooperative.
Meanwhile, Remix was still feeling upset about his sister and crying.
And unfortunately, the mariclavas were now attracted to the two ponies once again.
One landed on Remix's headphones, and the other landed on Magenta's bow. And Mariverde talked to each of them separately.
"Mare-lody, I am Mariverde. No one understands your true talent and claims you are in the wrong for everything. I'm giving you the power to show everyone your true potential in the music business. But in return, you must bring me a crown jewel of the royal family of Solaris. Do we have a deal?"
"You bet we do." said Magenta as she got clavatized.
Remix, on the other hoof...
"Soundwave, your sister does not hear anything but her own words. I'm giving you the power to make her hear you. But in return, you must bring me an artifact of the royal family of-"
"No way! I'm not betraying my family for you!"
Remix felt a pain in his head as Mariverde tried to clavatize him.
"You can do this, Remix. Fight it!" said Qui-Gon.
"I don't need you to give me any power to make Magenta hear me!" Remix said, and he threw off his headphones, making the mariclava fly out of them.
Remix breathed heavily, his eyes wide with fear and shock while Qui-Gon cast the luminesk spell on it.
"I was just almost clavatized!" Remix gasped.
"You're okay, Remix." said Qui-Gon, gently petting Remix's head. "And you've shown that you have the mental strength to avoid them."
But then Qui-Gon realized his clava detector was still glowing.
"Wait... where's Magenta?" Remix wondered out loud. "Oh no!"
Outside the palace, there came a now neon purple alicorn with white and blue striped hair, a bigger pink bow, and dressed in a sparkly dress as she floated on what looked like a sparkly silver treble clef.
"Look out, Naboo! Here comes Mare-lody!" sang Magenta.
