The door slams after him, but he couldn't care less. He steps into the street and the water drops start soaking his shirt. When the hell had started raining? He looks from one side to the other until he sees her figure moving away from him and toward her car that was parked down the block.
"LIV," he shouts and hurries his steps. "Olivia! Stop." He grabs her arm and turns her around just as she was opening the car.
She looks at him, her hair starting to get flat as the water merges into it. Her eyes are wild and full of tears."What, Elliot? What is it? God, I feel like such an idiot." She runs her hand across her forehead in a frustrated movement.
"You don't have to feel like an idiot. You are reading too much into this," his hand slays down her arm to grab her hand but she pulls it away.
"No, it always happens like this. Why do I keep getting my hopes up? It's never gonna be me, is it?" her shoulders fall like she's giving up.
She raises her hands to the back of her neck to reach the clasp of the necklace. He feels like he's been gut punched and quickly raises his own hands to join hers behind her neck. "No," He shakes his head. "Stop. This is exactly where it should be."
"Elliot, I'm tired," she lets a sigh out. "I can't keep doing this."
"I don't get what you mean by "it's never gonna be me", it has always been you, Olivia." He says. She looks at him incredulously.
"Are you kidding? Every time we ever had a chance, you always picked someone else." She says angrily. "I don't want to do this anymore. I don't ever want to get my hopes up again to arrive at your house and find someone else there." A tear falls down her face mixing with the drops of rain. "There's only so much I can take."
"Then please, take it. Take my heart. It has always been your anyway," he starts. "And Meredith," she scoffs at him. "Chief Bonner is only here because she's helping with the investigation."
"She seemed awfully comfortable," she mumbled.
"Liv, you don't need to be jealous," he smiles at her.
"I'm not jealous," she protests.
"I'm right here waiting for you. You told me you weren't ready and I respect it." His hand that was still at her neck goes up to caress her cheek. "I'm right here, Captain."
She collapses into his arms for the second time that night. Finding the comfort only he could give her.
"El?" She asks against his chest before lifting her head to look into his eyes.
"Yes?" He looks down at her.
"I'm ready."
He opens his mouth to say something but nothing comes out, he just stares at her.
"Well, detective, you're gonna kiss me or what?" She says smiling.
And suddenly his mouth is on her. And he is finally kissing her, his mouth hungry and demanding. And she gives right back at him, with the same intensity. He pushes her against the side of the cars, neither of them bothered that they were soaked to the bone. His hand tangled in her wet hair getting stuck and she smiled against his lips.
"Something funny, Captain?" He asks against her mouth.
"Just always knew you had a rank kink," she teases him.
"Yeah? I'll show you how kink I am," he says, pulling her by the belt loops, trying to take her back to his place.
She takes a step back shaking her head.
"Oh god, what now?" He asks, thinking she changed her mind.
"You have company, detective. Can't let the Chief waiting," she says teasing, but still with a hint of possessiveness showing.
His eyes widened, and he was reminded for the second time that night about his house guest. His shoulders sag in defeat. "Right."
She opens the door to her car, before turning back and stealing another deep kiss. She winks at him. "Call me." She enters her car and drives away.
