Chapter 7

After a few minutes of calming down, wiping away tears and finishing their lunches; the five girls left the cafe to see the remaining areas of the museum. They decided to check out the history of the Tiberian military. When they arrived at an entrance way, they noticed how crowded the area was, considerably more than in the World War 2 area.

"Wow, it's a lot more crowded here than in Yukari's favorite place." Saori remarked, slightly teasing Yukari about how much she enjoyed the first area they visited; much to her embarrassment.

"Well, I'm not entirely surprised, this is their native history so naturally they'd be more drawn here than in the World War 2 area." Hana explained.

As soon as they entered, Annelien, who was the only native of the group, took charge and started guiding and explaining all the various tanks and other vehicles. Surprisingly, Yukari was also very talkative, mostly with Annelien, comparing Tiberian vehicles to their foreign counterparts; whether they be from World War 2 or another point in time.

After 2 hours of exploring they arrived at the section dedicated to spacecraft. Since none of them had any pre-existing knowledge about this subject unlike the other areas, they wandered around unanimously rather than someone leading the way. Though that didn't mean one of them would occasionally split off to look at a nearby exhibit while the other four were looking at another. Yukari was doing just that when she saw something on the information plaque for one of the exhibits that caused her to burst out laughing. "Hey Saori, found something that you'd love to hear about." She called out.

As the other four girls approached the exhibit Yukari was pointing at, Saori promptly read the plaque and blushed at a certain group of sentences. "Oh come on, really," Saori complained. "You're telling me some random guy hacked into a satellite and used it to confess to a female news anchor live on the air."

"Yep," Yukari confirmed. "And not only did she reject him, again which was live. But the next day the authorities were able to track him down and arrest him, which that same news anchor covered also." Yukari burst into a second fit of laughter followed by everyone except Saori.

"Why did you want me to see this so badly?" Saori asked now covering her face with her hands.

"Well seeing how you always talk about finding a boyfriend, I figured this little story was something you'd like, who knows maybe you're even jealous of that news anchor." Yukari answered teasingly.

"Wait a minute," Saori said while glaring at Yukari. "Is this you getting back at me for earlier?"

"Maybe," Yukari said, looking away and trying to feign ignorance.

Saori turned to look at Miho, Annelien and Hana hoping for some backup, but they all just shrugged their shoulders.

"Why don't we head over to the interactive section." Miho suggested.

Everyone seemed to agree with that idea so they all decided to head over to the front of the museum where the interactive activities area was. The section was pretty packed, but since it was almost 5:30pm either everyone had already been to this section or couldn't and just left to go home. There was almost everything a military enthusiast could dream of: flight simulators to test your piloting and dogfighting skills, a virtual reality system to let you experience various roles riding and operating a tank in battle, a entire section of a submarine and a warship to immerse yourself into the life of a submariner and sailor prospectively; they even had flattop touchscreen tables to test one's strategy and command abilities either against an ai or other people. As they scanned around figuring out which to do first, Miho noticed a group of five girls that she recognized. She leaned close to Annelien's ear and whispered, "we got some flies with us, 10 o'clock."

Annelien turned to look in the direction Miho mentioned and noticed the group of girls. "I see em, why don't we go say hello," she whispered back.

As the two of them tried to sneak closer, Yukari and the others noticed what they were doing. Before Saori could get their attention, Yukari put her finger to her mouth to tell Shari and Hana to keep quiet, before winking at them and turning to watch the upcoming spectacul while silently snickering.

When Miho and Annelien got to where they thought was close enough; Miho suddenly blurted out, "what's this annoying sound I'm hearing, could it be some house flies buzzing around?" Annelien followed up with making buzzing noises with her mouth meant to mimic the sound of flies buzzing.

The group of girls turned to face them, with the closest one sporting black hair styled like Yukari's but only just covering the top of her head, trying to hold back a playful snort before pinching her nose and saying, "P U, I thought I smelt something burnt and gassy around here." She then started wafting her free hand as if to ward off a sudden unpleasant smell; the girl to her right followed her, which led much to the confusion of the rest of the girls from both groups.

Miho, Annelien, and the other two girls then burst out into a fit of laughter.

"Mcneil, bab, it's been a good while; how've you been?" The girl asked from before asked.

"Courtney, it has been a bit, we've been ok. I see Sier is still glued to your hip like before, how's flying club?" Annelien answered before asking back, slightly teasingly.

"Aren't I always?" Sier responded. "Things have been good in our corps. But word on the breeze says that driving school has a record number of recruits, I'm so envious."

"Wait, did she just call us driving school?" Saori asked, seemingly offended.

Miho chuckled, "it's just a little nickname for the armored corps, sort of like a fun tease," she explained before pointing at Courtney's group, "they're from the air corps, but their nickname is the flying club; there's also the infantry, which are also called the girl scouts, and finally the naval corps, which are also called seamen." She further elaborated, before suddenly trying to hold back another chuckle, along with Annelien, Yukari, Courtney, and Sier.

"Why do I get the feeling like that last one has a sexual undertone?" Hana wondered out loud.

"You're not wrong there," Courtney chimed in. "Oh hey there Yukari," she said while waving at Yukari. "I haven't seen you two before, I'm the commander of the air corps, Courtney Viteri." Courtney said, introducing herself to Saori and Hana. "This lady here is my vice-commander, Sier." She said pointing to Sier

Sier waved to the two girls, saying a simple "what's up," Soari and Hana returned the wave.

"Oh, remember that bet we made back at MLS," Miho asked?

"Yeah I know," Courtney groaned. "Looks like we're really gonna be busy this year."

"What bet?" One of the girls in Courtney's group asked.

"Basically back at MLS we bet to see which corps would have the better ranked students out of the class this year, and the winner would have to have the loser basically be their chauffeur to all their team competitions." Courtney explained. "And we lost," she said, slumping in disappointment.

"Umm excuse me," a random girl suddenly called out, she was dressed semi professionally, hold what looked like some kind of microphone. She was accompanied by some else who was holding their phone as if they were about or were already recording a video. "Are you Commander McNeil of the armored corps and are you Commander Viteri of the air corps?" She asked Miho and Courtney.

"We are." Courtney answered.

"How can we help you?" Miho asked in return.

"We're from the news and journalism club and we'd like to have an interview with you both about what you guys are planning for with regards to competing against other schools or other activities? Also if you don't mind could we also post this interview on our website and social media also?" She asked.

Miho and Courtney exchanged looks before nodding. "Yeah, we don't mind," Courtney answered.

The journalist girl smiled and gave her camera operator a thumbs up. When the phone's camera was aimed at them, she immediately spoke a somewhat scripted introduction, "Thank you Stacey, we are currently the military history museum where we've encountered the commanders of both the air and armored corps, could you introduce yourselves please?"

The girl then placed the "microphone" near Miho first, "I am Miho Nishizumi McNeil, I am the commander of the armored corps, the girl with me right now is my vice-commander, Annelien." Miho said, pointing out Annelien with the palm of her hand.

The girl moved the "microphone" over to Courtney, "I am Courtney Viteri, and I'm the commander of the air corps, and this lady right here is my vice commander, Sier." Courtney said, introducing herself and Seri in the same way Miho did.

"Commander McNeil, you are quite infamous, you just transferred here from another school and yet you are the commander of the armored corps, you must be really skilled, what school did you transfer from and why did you decide to come here?" The girl asked Miho, clearly interested in Miho's sudden rise despite being a transfer student.

"Uh," Miho didn't know how to respond to that question. She hadn't expected she be that well known outside the corps, but she figured that some then must've talked to their friends that weren't in the corps. "Well, the school I transferred from is called Kuromorimine, as to why I transferred, let's just say that it was for personal reasons."

"I see," the interviewer said, "care to share any plans you have for the armored corps this year?"

"Well the only thing that we're working on right now is training all the new recruits and enrolling in the 63rd tankers tournament." Miho explained.
