Hiccup's days ground passed slowly. Healing and stitching up his hoard. All of their stories blurring into one. His saving grace came when Toothless finally showed up.
The dragon watched his mate sleep, doing all he could to not jump on him. Dragons had already began to leave for Dragon Island and he was eager to get there. Not able to stand it anymore he pushed his snout into Hiccup's side and flipped his onto his back.
"Hmm? What?" Hiccup groaned.
"Get up love we have a lot to do." The Night Fury chuckled. "We have a long day ahead of us." Hiccup's eyes shot open. He jumped up to his feet and ran to his companion. Hiccup got under the dragon's chin and tightly wrapped his arms around his neck.
"You're back!" Hiccup yelled happily. "Thank the gods. Please never leave again. It was horrible." Hiccup let him go and stood back.
"You can tell me on the way. We need to leave." Toothless' voice was urgent and needy. Hiccup nodded and climbed on. They set off towards the island. "So. You said it was horrible? Why's that?"
"Ugh! Right after you left everything went insane. As expected they started fighting. And I had to fix them. I mean I learned a lot about our people but I couldn't tell you who said what anymore. All of their stories blended together after a while. I just. I'm so drained right now." Hiccup complained.
"Too drained to have a nice mating season with me?"
"I couldn't wait for you to come back. This going to way less tiring than that."
"I wouldn't count on it." Toothless growled.
"How was your time away?" Hiccup asked.
"I hated it like normal. All I could do is think of you and rut into stuff, hoping something would happen. And then I scouted out a spot for us on the island. Then after that I came to get you. So the last part was fine but the rest was the worst."
"What does the spot you scouted look like? Did you choose the most visible spot on the island?"
"No I didn't. I did think about it. No I found a spot that's pretty secluded and has a nice hot spring pool that we can rest in between sessions." Hiccup leaned forward on his mount and kissed the back of his neck. The dragon's skin ignited, body tremblings at the slightest bit of contact.
"Thanks for thinking about me." The rest of their flight was quiet. Toothless focused on getting to the island and Hiccup watched as they passed over and by different Islands he'd never seen before and over an endless stretch of ocean.
Hiccup was flabbergasted when he first saw dragon island. The light shining through the steam of the hot springs, the bright colors of the stones and the island itself much larger than he thought it would be. They landed on a beach and the damp white sand oozed through Hiccup's toes as he hopped off Toothless. Toothless lead Hiccup on a path through the island. The beginning stages of mating season had already started for many of the dragons. Hiccup felt very out of place being the only human on the island. But remembered that he was meant to be there. Many of the dragons creating the next generation where his own and they respected him. He had nothing to worry about. No matter how different he was. Hiccup began to walk with a hop in his step.
"That's new. Has something changed?" Hiccup was embarrassed that Toothless' had noticed the small change in his walking.
"You pay too much attention to things." Hiccup complained.
"If it were any other time i'd say you're right. But today is all about paying attention to you." Toothless laughed. Hiccup huffed.
After walking up, down and around the island Toothless stopped.
"Through here." He took them off the trail and went between a few bushes. Hiccup broke through right after him. Hiccup's mouth hung open at the sight. He wanted to break down and cry at the beautiful spot Toothless had found them. He was speechless.
"You don't like it. Just give me second to find a different spot." Toothless panicked. He was about to take off when Hiccup's hand touched him. He began to turn and explain himself. "I-It-it reminded mme of that p-place you found me." He was having a melt down. Hiccup didn't know what to do. He just reached for his dragon and kissed him. Toothless pulled away after some seconds.
"It's amazing Toothless."Hiccup whispered. Toothless sighed heavily.
"Oh. Okay. I just. Sorry I freaked out like that." Hiccup pecked him again.
"It's a big deal, I understand. I'm sorry that I didn't say anything. It's perfect Toothless, really." Hiccup went further into the small area. He noticed that they were totally secluded. "I thought you said we were going to put on a display or something?"
"I know you said it would be fine to do that but I thought about it some more. I don't care enough about the show of power or unity to put you through something like that. Hiccup I know you well enough that I came here just to find a nice spot for us. Far away from everyone else." The dragon nipped at Hiccup's side. Hiccup giggled.
They moved still further into the area. Hiccup found a large stone slab and stood on it. Toothless watched him. Hiccup pointed his finger at the dragon and began to move it around. He watched in curious fascination but it really got his attention when it alone began to pull off one of the few furs covering Hiccup. He moved to the foot of the rock, sat, and watched every tiny movement it made.
It hooked under the bottom of the vest Hiccup made. Once it was about Hiccup navel it fell back down. The dragons world almost collapsed around him.
"Hmm that didn't work." Hiccup said innocently. "Only if there were someone here to help me." He sighed. "But I guess it just won't come off. That's too bad it pretty warm and wish I didn't have this on." He pulled it up a little but dropped it again. "I guess I'm not strong enough to get it off. "Can someone help me?" He scanned over the small area before landing on his tortured friend. "Ah! Hey could you help me?" He knelt down to be at eye level with Toothless. "Could you help me. I'm starting to get a sticky in this heat and I want to get this off but I seemingly can't." He grabbed one of the dragon's front legs turned the paw over and hooked the claws under the vest. "Now lift. See if you can do it." It was off him in a flash. Hiccup had to recover before continuing. He shook his head. "Thanks friend. I thought it would never come off." He kissed the bridge of Toothless' nose.
Hiccup walked over towards the hot spring pool. He dipped his foot into the water. It was a little hotter than he would have liked but it wasn't terrible. Unsurprisingly Toothless had followed him and was watching every movement. Hiccup hooked his fingers under the waist of the fur leggings and slowly pulled them down, making sure Toothless' could see everything.
Toothless moved to jump him but was too late as Hiccup stepped into the pool. He sat on a rock and leaned his head against the edge.
"You coming in or what?"Hiccup called.
