I woke up that morning a little groggy from the night before. I went to the restrooms and cleaned myself up before heading to the mildly collapsed dining pavilion. I noticed that some of the Aphrodite kids and Scarlet weren't there. I tried not to let it bother me too much, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. After sending some prayers to my dad I went to sword practice early and did stretching waiting for the class to start because I volunteered to teach a few of the newer campers for the next month or so.
Once the class started I kept having this tugging feeling in my gut, kinda like when I would summon a hurricane. This was different, I knew something was wrong. Then I realized that Scarlet hadn't come to practice today. Which was weird because I'm pretty sure the highlight of her day was beating me in a sword fight. I got angry at myself because I was supposed to be teaching these young demi-gods to protect themselves and I was thinking of a girl.
The class got over fairly quickly. I went to go find Nico and asked about Scarlet. It's not like I cared or anything but I was just making sure she wasn't dead. I found Nico in the Hades cabin looking like he just woke up.
"Hey Nico, you know where Scarlet is?" I asked, trying not to sound like I care too much.
"C'mon the one time I sleep through the night and I wake up to you" Nico said, blocking his eyes from the sun.
"Good to see you too, but Scarlet, have you seen her?" I closed the door so I wouldn't accidentally blind Nico. He looked at me like I just killed his cat; but he looked at me like that most of the time so I wasn't too concerned.
"Yea I have actually" Nico stepped out of his bed "Last night, think she left camp" he put on his brown aviator jacket I was surprised he didn't sleep in that thing to be honest.
"Wha- You didn't stop her?" I slightly raise my voice a little higher. I felt bad for yelling at Nico it wasn't his fault she's ran away
"No, how was I supposed to?" He said not to sound too worried. And what did he mean 'how was I supposed to'? Like what do you mean, you couldn't tell her not to or talked her out of it. Aren't you like her best friend?
"Your right, I'm sorry for yelling" I apologized "Not that I care but do you know where she would have gone?" I hoped that my tone was convincing enough. Nico paused and looked as if studying me then answered.
"Huh, well definitely not back to her step dads place, that's all I got." He said shuffled passed me and headed in the direction of the Apollo cabin.
I ran to the big house in hope I could find Chiron. I saw him talking to a girl with brown hair then I realized it was Piper from cabin 10, what was she doing here? Then I heard Scarlet's name and started to eavesdrop.
"We've been looking all day and only found an arrow just out of camp borders, and we can be sure it's even hers." Piper said, looking into Katoptris.
"I'm going to call a campfire meeting with the counselors tonight and we'll go from there, we can keep looking but-" Chiron stopped and looked in my direction. "Come on out Percy" The centaur gesterd in my direction
I came out of my hiding place and started to head for the door to avoid any more trouble.
"Where are you going aquaman?" Piper said. I hated when her and Leo would call me that.
"Don't call me that, and I was leaving so I wouldn't get in trouble." I admitted they both just looked at me for a second with a puzzled expression on their face.
"What why? Your here for the same reason right" Piper asked "With the way you guys look at each other, I thought y'all had a thing going on," Piper finished
"Yea, but we don't look at each other in any way and we certainly don't have a 'thing'. " I felt my stomach turn when I said those words.
"My mom is literally the goddess of love but ok" she said with this tone that made me mad and want to laugh at the same time.
"Okay that's enough, I don't want to hear about whatever is going on right now" Chiron gestured to me and the pipers area. "We have a missing demi-god to find."
"Sorry chiron" Me an piper said in unison
I told Chiron and Piper what Nico had told me. They looked at one another but didn't say anything. They told me that Will went to go check on Scarlet this morning and found that most of her belongings were gone. The only thing that was there was the note from her dad, the minotaurs horn and a few other small items. Kayla from the Apollo cabin also noted some of the arrows were missing.
With that information I figured that she left on her own and wasn't kidnapped. Which obviously wasn't good but at least there was a better chance of Scarlet being alive. I was really getting in my own head about her disappearing. I kinda felt that it was partially my fault since I had yelled at her twice the day before. It's not that I had a crush on her or anything like that. This was just another demi-god that needed help. That I also just so happened to have made out with twice and that was very, very pretty and I felt responsible for helping her.
I tried to keep thinking that she was alive and out there somewhere. I knew that she would be fine if she were alive. But my brain would let me stop thinking of her for a second. It got so bad I started to get a headache. I went to the beach to try and clear my head. To be honest it didn't really do anything. It's like my brain knew that she was in trouble and trying to get me to do something. The only problem I was specifically told not to do anything unless given a quest. That's it, I thought I'll just ask Rachel, the Oracle for a quest.
