Hiccup took a set of the wood he separated and brought it over to his spot. Stoick stood up and looked out over the ocean then down at Hiccup who had already started to nail two of the pieces together.

"So is this what you do now? Make boxes? You had so many hobbies back on Berk." Stoick wondered. Without batting an eye Hiccup respond.

"I don't have an anvil. Too hard to steal. Constantly taking notes on my dragons leaves me with no charcoal to draw with. I have few tools and little knowhow to make my own. And I must keep my hands busy or they'll simply attach themselves to my mate. When that happens I'm basically useless until we've both had our fill of attention." Hiccup chuckled.

"It's not so bad Hiccup, I quite like it." Toothless chimed.

"Do you ever plan on leaving this place?" Stoick asked.

"Leave?" Hiccup laughed. "There is no leaving. This is the safest place in the known world. Why would I leave?"

"Maybe for somewhere more accessible. Somewhere you wouldn't have to fly half the day to get some of the things you want."

"If I wanted that I would have intercepted Trader Johan already. He always has things I want."

"You think he'd trade with you?"

"He trades with everybody. No matter who you are or what you've done. Why would I be different?"

"That's fair. So then why haven't you? Assuredly he'd have an anvil, tools, charcoal, even the things you don't think you need until you see it."

"Puts us in danger. He accidentally tells someone about us and suddenly the whole world knows we exist. Everyone but you thinks that the old alpha is still in charge here. The Queen that used to attack you. If they were to learn that I was here commanding the dragons, I'd have ships in my waters everyday. There would be countless dead and I don't want war on my doorstep."

"So you'd rather hide away the rest of your life?"

"No of course not. But we lose people everyday. Even when dragons aren't attacking they get found, cornered and killed. What humans don't seem to realize is that we don't expand towards villages on purpose. And those who do take the chance of getting caught. But they always have a reason.

But unlike me they can't talk with you. They have no chance to work out something."

"And you have?"

"Only very recently."

"That's why you came to Berk."

"No. I've wanted to ally with Berk since I left. That wasn't the reason I went last time though. I went to get your advice. Thank you again by the way."

"I can't believe that you even did that."

"Neither can I." Toothless grumbled.

"Oh quiet you." Hiccup hissed. Toothless hummed back to him.

"Your dragon doesn't sound happy going to Berk.

"He's not. But I thought it was a necessary risk."

"What if it didn't go the way you wanted? What if something happened?" Stoick asked.

"It either went well or we fought our way out. I did have a small army there."

"Hiccup you can't just rely on that type of plan every time. It will go wrong at some point." Stoick warned.

"I didn't plan on doing it again so there's nothing to worry about. I have no interest in any of the other villages. To be completely honest, I barely have any interest in Berk Either. I just know the ins and outs. What was more likely to have happened if it didn't go well was me just telling my scouts to save themselves and Toothless and I would escape on our own.

Then he would have been mad at me and yelled, and told me how reckless I was being, and reminded me that I have people who depend on me. Then he would have accidentally made himself sad and told me that he depends on me. And we would have had a nice moment.

I have a bad habit of putting Toothless in danger then telling him that I want everyone to be safe." Hiccup put down his hammer and began to rub Toothless belly. "For some reason I think that Toothless is this unkillable god, and no matter what I put him through he'll come out on the other side. It's not like I haven't I don't see him getting hurt, it's not like he's hiding it from me. We both almost died in that little house, more than once.

I don't deserve Toothless at all." The dragon opened his eye and stared at Hiccup.

"And yet here I am with a life debt to a human." The dragon flipped onto his back and placed a paw over his eyes. "Yet here I am." He announced louder. "Being forced to cook and clean up after him. What shall I ever do?" Toothless feigned. He uncovered his eye to see if Hiccup was looking. He saw Hiccup trying to ignore him and having a hard time trying to not to smile. The dragon scooched himself closer to his mate. "Oh, my little fragile heart." He looked again but still nothing. "You're getting better at this." Toothless grumbled. This time he moved right next to Hiccup. Giving him no chance to ignore him anymore. Hiccup was trying his damndest to not look over the couple inches to Toothless. "I wonder if my young master will ever look at me the same way he looks at the other girls." That made Hiccup laugh through his nose. They both realized that Hiccup had just resigned his fate. "But I'm just a simple commoner who works for his family. There's nothing special about me, and I have nothing to give." Toothless pushed the frame of Hiccup's box out of his lap with his snout and replaced it with his head. The dragon pulled his chin down to look up at Hiccup. Their faces inches from each others. "Oh hey Hiccup when did you get here?"

"You're so needy." Hiccup's hands naturally gravitated to the dragon's neck and he began to rub and scratch the scales there.

"Nooo~oh I'm not."

"I didn't even get one box finished before you interrupted me this time."

"Well then just finish them, duh."

"I'm only able to do that when you're not around because it ends up like this when you are."

"So you don't want me paying attention to you all the time?"

"As much as I do love being around you, we have responsibilities that can't be ignored so that we can be with each other. You know that.

You know I don't see other males act like you. You're the only one who seemingly needs to be around their mate."
