'A. What?'
'A spa' said her boss cheerfully.
Miss Hardbroom drew herself up disapprovingly.
'And what does one do in a spa?'
She poked a finger at the glossy brochure, promising glossy delights.
'You relax, you have treatments doneā¦perhaps a massage would be beneficial for you, Constance' suggested Miss Cackle slyly.
Imogen and Davina sniggered as their colleague shot a scorching glare at the headmistress.
'Strangers? TOUCHING? I don't think so' she said sniffily.
'You can sit on a sun lounger with a drink and catch up on a good book' said Amelia soothingly. 'And if you feel like a treatment then you can venture forth. Yes?'
Constance sighed. She did not mean to act ungrateful, Miss Cackle was paying for a staff treat but the thought of some stranger pummelling her shoulders was too much to bear. She had a sneaking suspicion that this trip for was partly for her benefit. Amelia always told her that she needed to chill out more.
'There's a swimming pool' Amelia reminded her. 'Heated.'
Imogen perked up. Swimming in the lake was fine in the summer but she did miss the smell of chlorine. And a heated pool was a luxury. She couldn't wait.
Unbeknown to her, Miss Hardbroom was also musing on it. She was used to icy cold waters but doing a few laps in the pool would be most refreshing. She would get her swimming costume out. It might be a good trip after all.
