The next morning Toothless and Hiccup were woken up with a start as a group of scouts were trying and mostly failing to wake them up. One of them eventually got bold enough to shake Hiccup to the point they got a response to them. Hiccup opened his eyes a little. The sun shining bright, making him close them again.

"Sir are you awake?" The head of the group asked him. Hiccup's body screamed at him because of the unexpected romp with his mate the night before. "Sir if you're awake we need to speak with you. It's an emergency." Hiccup grit his teeth and suddenly wished he and Toothless hadn't gone crazy last night. Slowly his hand made its way to cover his eyes and he reopened them.

"What's wrong?" He whispered through his sore throat.

"Sir, one of the long range scouts reported back that he saw a Bewilderbeast and their flock heading in our general direction." Hiccup forced himself to sit up but remained slouched over himself. His butt and back suddenly and painfully reminding him of their encounter yet again.

"Do we know of their intent?"

"No, not yet sir. We're waiting on at least two others who would have been close enough to also see the Bewilderbeast. If they can confirm that it's there then we'll need to prepare. Bewilderbeast don't like to move after they've set up a sanctuary. So that this one broke out of his and is bringing most if not all his flock could be very bad for us." The leader warned. Hiccup pulled at his cheeks and scrunched up his face.

"Okay, uhm, have any of the scouting groups for mainland gone back yet?"

"No sir. I believe everyone is still waiting for you to officially release them back." The set of relay scouts waited nervously as Hiccup rubbed his head.

"Uhm, okay, send one of our fastest to meet up with the other two spotters. Confirm the sighting. If we do confirm the sighting have the three carefully try to make contact. We need to know if they're hostile. If not hostile try to have them get information out of them. See what they want or what they're doing.

If hostile, have the long range scouts scatter and have the fast scout come back to tell us. And we need to have an estimate of how many there are and how long until they're here. Did you get all that? Oh, and have them look for anything odd. Anything out of place. And tell everyone we're on lockdown again. Toothless and I will be there in a bit to tell them what's going on."

The lead nodded to him and called orders out to the other two with her. Then they disappeared into the mountain.

Hiccup leaned back against his mate a few times rocking him. "Get up Toothless we have a big problem." The dragon took a deep breath.

"I know, I heard."

"A Bewilderbeast coming right at us with his entire flock. Let's hope we're ready to fight."

"Let's hope we don't have to fight." Toothless returned.

"So what do we do?"

"We wait for the confirmation and see if they're hostile."

"What if the scouts who go check that don't make it back. How long should we wait?"

"How long does it take to get out to the long range scouts?" Toothless asked.

"That depends on who goes. Since I said the fastest, they should be back by mid afternoon but who knows."

"Then we wait. We inform everyone of the situation and get a plan together. We evacuate all the fledglings, nest mothers, and those who can't fight to The Edge. But we wait until the sun is below the horizon. If they aren't back we go ahead and move everyone. We should convince your father to give us his ship so that we can move all the fledglings at once. Not lose any of them on the way. Then we can fly the humans back to Berk. But we need to know their intention. But we should prepare for the worst."

Hiccup sat for a second and thought over Toothless' plan. He had no complaints or changes so he slowly stood up and nearly screamed at the pain. Toothless looked up at his mate happily.

"I suppose we shouldn't have had so much fun last night, huh?" He lumbered himself over a bit and pressed his muzzle into Hiccup's thigh. "I love you Hiccup." Toothless whispered. Hiccup reached down and rubbed over the dragon's head.

"I'd rather have this pain over not having you at all." Hiccup replied. Toothless moved himself into Hiccup's path.

"Are you okay? That was a weird response." Toothless looked up at him concerned. Hiccup opened his mouth then closed it before his shoulders dropped and back arched.

"Sorry big guy. This thing with the Bewilderbeast has put me in a bad mood already. Not exactly the news that I wanted to be woken up to. Especially since I won't be able to wash myself now before going in front of everyone. We still reek of last night and everyone is going to smell us."

"Hiccup that's fine. Mates smell like each other, that's what happens. Smelling strongly of each other is a good sign. People will think we're a strong couple. And while we can't have kids the scent of our seed will show them we're fertile. It's almost better that we don't go wash this off before going in front of everyone." Toothless pressed into Hiccup again. Hiccup huffed.

"You're not lying to me to make me feel better, are you?"

"No. In fact I envy that you don't have a strong nose. I wish some of the couples down there would be as conscious of washing as you are."

"I still have a lot to learn about being a dragon don't I?"

"I don't think so. There's just a lot of differences in living like this and how you used to. Things that humans think of that we don't, or that don't apply to us. Like those things you put on over your skin. Uh, Clo-, cl-"

"Clothes."

"Yeah those, Clothes. Dragon's don't do that. I don't even remember if you've told me why they do. Not that you even wear them anymore.

"I guess I'm still getting used to living like this, even after all this time."

"Well yeah that makes sense to me. You were born and raised with a different way of living. With people who look like you. Grew up a certain way, lived a certain way. That's what you were taught as a kid and what you thought was normal. But now you have a new normal and you have to get used to that. That's why some people consider you human and others dragon. While you'll always and forever be just Hiccup to me." Toothless gave him a big smile. Hiccup rolled his eyes. "What? I thought it was nice."

"I swear you're a puppy more than a dragon."

"I'll be whatever you want me to be. As long as I'm with you."
