"Now with that out of the way. The humans are sitting in a run off pool so they won't be burned. Will you be able to follow us there so we can discuss all this together?" Toothless asked.
"It'll depend but we know our way around here pretty well. I'm sure we'll figure out some way to get to them."
"Then let's move over there and get this all figured out cause we don't have a ton of time." Hiccup said while removing his feet from the water and standing up."
"We'll do our best to follow you. When you get there if you don't see us after a bit just do that thing humans can do. With your mouth y'know" Black racked his brain.
"Yell?" Blue asked.
"What? No dummy." Black snapped.
"I'm not the dummy. You said do the thing with your mouth. Everyone does stuff with their mouth, idiot." Blue countered.
"I'll show you who's an idiot." Black tried to swing his head over and bite his brother. Then both heads started swinging back and forth trying to nip each other. And then there was a knocking sound as instead of biting they just ended up headbutting each other. Both recoiling from the hit.
"You two done or?" Hiccup asked.
"Truce?" One head asked the other. "For now." The other grumbled.
"Alright we'll head there and if we don't see you I'll whistle okay?" Hiccup asked.
"That's what it's called. Humans can do too much with their mouth." Black commented.
"Tell me about it." Toothless said to himself. Hiccup recoiled and gave Toothless a stern look but the dragon was staring right at him with a slight smile.
Hiccup cleared his throat. "I'll notify you both with our position when we get there." The quartet split off and they all disappeared into the fog.
Hiccup slapped Toothless' shoulder and the dragon laughed.
"You're such a perv you know that."
"What? Humans can do a lot with their mouth." Toothless tried to sound innocent.
"Mhmm."
"Don't mhmm me. You have no idea what it's like for me."
"Then tell me." Hiccup stopped, and Toothless turned around a few steps later. He stepped in close so the fog wouldn't obscure him.
"Being with you is the hardest thing ever."
"What do you mean?" Hiccup looked down at his feet which he could scarcely see.
"Hiccup look up." He did as asked but looked off to the side of Toothless. "And look at me." Again he did as asked. Toothless looked at his mate and could see the fear in him. He felt bad for how he started this conversation. "There's nothing to fear, my love." He tried to lighten the mood. "What I meant is being around you makes my blood boil." He paused for a second. "In a good way!" He caught himself. "Being with you can be hard because it's like being in mating season all year round. You have no idea how quickly your scent changes from something normal to lust filled and heady. Even at random it feels sometimes. And you know your scent is intoxicating to me. But when that happens and my heart starts to pound and the sound of blood rushes through my ears. It can take a lot of my willpower not to drag you off and make you mine over and over again. Not to mention how quickly humans can go from a regular situation to wanting to mate. It can be quite a surprise when you ask me to find somewhere private for us, just out of nowhere."
"You said you like that though."
"And I do. Don't get me wrong. It's great, I wouldn't change it for anything. But it can be hard to be around because I'll smell the change but nothing comes. Whether it's random or because we have to be around others. Especially since the humans came and we haven't been able to be together nearly as much."
"That's the understatement of a lifetime."
"So I hope you understand what I meant now."
"Yeah, I do. I kinda over reacted again huh?" They started to walk again, slowly.
"A bit, but you wouldn't be you without it."
"I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing." Hiccup climbed through a gap in some rocks and Toothless jumped over it.
"Can't wait for things to settle down. So much easier to lead when things aren't out of control."
"That's gonna be a while yet."
"I know." Toothless sighed. "Just feels like it's been like this for longer than not at this point."
"That's for sure." Hiccup said.
The pair traveled a bit further before they reached the run off pools. Having not seen the group of humans yet, Hiccup figured they must be even further down. The pools they were near, still too hot for the humans. And as they went further down loud conversation could be heard, signifying they were getting close. They had to be nearly on top of the group before they could see them. Hiccup announced his presence and was greeted happily.
"You should have told us about this place earlier, son. Better than any bath could ever be." Stoick sighed, topping it off with a groan. "Just what these old bones needed." A few 'yeahs' and 'mhmm's followed.
"Well I'm glad you all like it. We think a part of this volcano is still active and it heats up the water in this area. I think the rock spires around the main volcano are from old eruptions. Bringing up rock from the sea floor. But that's just a theory I have."
"How fitting. The land itself is just as dangerous as the things living on it."
The moment was quiet. Everyone enjoying the water before some slamming and arguing could be heard. Or growling to those who couldn't understand. Hiccup chuckled to himself before bringing his fingers to his mouth and whistling loudly. The slamming and arguing quickly getting closer before Hiccup whistled again. And suddenly there was a big splash in the not so big pool.
"You had to choose here?" Black yelled. "You know we can't fly right?" Blue followed.
"Guys, I didn't choose the spot." Hiccup defended himself.
"Well whoever did, is an idiot." "A big one."
"I'll let him know." Hiccup smiled.
"Well-" "woah hey. We-" "We ain't even met the guy yet." "Maybe 'e's a nice guy." "Yeah, yeah yeah. Just chooses a bad spot to sit sometimes."
"You guys aren't making it better for yourselves."
"Hey, we'll tell you what. You don't say nothing and we'll do whatever you need. Deal?" "Yeah yeah. Deal?" Black and Blue agreed.
"Fine. But you both understand what I want you to do could get you hurt, right?" Hiccup asked.
"Ain't the first time being shot at by humans." "Got us good once or twice too. Can't seem to get rid of us though." They chuckled together.
