Goku felt his mind drifting, floating one place or another, he felt like his body was engulfed in a viscous liquid like mud, while he looked at the world as if through someone else's camera lens. The world was tiny compared to him as whoever he was watching the world through turned to look at the moon. He looked around at trees the size of sticks, mountains the size of ant-hills, and tigers smaller than mice. Turning towards one direction, the person he was looking through looked down at a tiny old man with an orange embroidered jacket.

"Wait…" Goku began, "that's Grandpa… then… this is me… on that night…" Goku thought for a bit, "oh yeah, I had that nightmare. Before."

Despite himself, he still fought against the dream, he didn't want it to end the way it kept going.

"G-Goku?!" Grandpa Gohan called out, more concern than alarm in his voice. "Can you hear me! You need to calm down!" The landscape was devastated as Goku swung his fists into the ground. "I have to stop him before he hurts himself!" Gohan charged forward, and with a swing of his fist knocked Goku back in the air. He fell over the side, rolling down the mountain.

Goku smiled, "Grandpa was always so strong…" He frowned as he felt his mouth open and a massive blast of ki rocketed forward.

Gohan dodged the attack and rushed Goku, charging a Kamehameha. He dodged past punches, kicks, and swipes, but hesitated. And at that moment, the Oozaru's fist knocked him to the ground. As Goku rampaged, he felt a shock, as the dying Gohan grabbed his tail, holding it till the morning.

"G-Goku…" Gohan began "please… never look at the moon again…"

Goku awoke with a start, his head throbbed and his body felt sore. But he still had enough strength to get up.

"Holy shit, it's only been 4 hours!"

Goku turned to the voice and saw a human member of the Red Ribbon Army with coal-black hair and eyes staring back at him. "You guys!" Despite the pain, Goku prepared to attack.

"Wait, Goku!" Upa jumped forward. "That guy used his medicine for you!"

Goku looked down at the bandages on his shoulder. "What?" He began, "what happened?"

"That assassin guy!" Upa began, "he beat you up badly! Then you beat him! But you were injured so this guy used his medicine."

The Red Ribbon Army soldier grunted. "Not like there's much choice, the Red Ribbon Army's sending a clean-up crew here in 3 days, and the rest of 'em aren't awake enough yet, much less able to hold a gun."

"Rest of them?" Goku looked around, widening his eyes at the dozen or so King's Army and Tsukimi members covered head to toe in bandages. He watched as the Red Ribbon Army member walked up to a few, giving them water, or changing bandages on others. "Why are you helping us?" He asked, "aren't you a bad guy?"

The soldier grunted, "not all of us are army members by choice, I was conscripted cause Commander Red's hometown is my old village. Anyone who stood up was shot."

"So you were too weak to fight back?"

The soldier flinched, "not everyone is a freak like you."

Goku glowered, "I'm not the freak here!" He blew raspberries at the soldier, who grit his teeth and turned away.

"So… Goku?" Upa asked, "can you move?"

Goku got up, he felt extremely weak in his left arm. "Umm… sorta, but…" He turned towards Korin tower. Without a word, he ran towards it and began to climb up.

"What the?!" The soldier tried to yell for Goku, but Upa stopped him.

"Supposedly a great master lives on top of that tower! He might be able to help!"

The soldier scoffed and spat on the floor, "let's hope you're right and he's not just running away."

"You don't know him!" Upa yelled.

"Well… neither do you."

"Shit!" Yamcha cursed, Bulma had come bearing bad news. "Do you know where he is?!"

She scowled, "he took the Radar and the Dragon Balls, I have no idea where he is right now!"

"Can't you just make a second radar?" Chi-Chi asked.

"She can't just make a second Radar!" A Tsukimi ninja retorted, "such complicated technol-"

"Shoot! Why didn't I think of that!" Bulma ran into Roshi's temporary house on the island. After 15 minutes, she came back holding a tablet-sized disk. Turning it on, the group widened their eyes as two groups of lights flashed.

"Huh?" Krillin pointed at the two groups, "what does that mean?"

She pointed to the group of 4, "Goku had three Dragon Balls before he left, this place is probably where the 4th dragon ball is, so it should be him." She then looked to the other location, "that's probably where the Red Ribbon Army is."

"Wait, shouldn't that location be Goku? You said there were 4 in the other place." Yamcha asked.

"No, there are only two Dragon Balls in that other location." Bulma frowned at that, "wait… that's odd, why are there only 6 dragon balls on the radar?"

"Maybe someone's hiding it…"

Roshi looked at the map, "from the looks of it, Goku's not near the Crane School."

"Hmm? Why?" Bulma asked.

"My old rival's School is just outside of West City. Those Dragon Balls are in Korrin forest, could it be?!"

"Could it be what?" Yamcha asked.

"He must have passed the test of the Guardians of the Forest, and will now make his way up the tower to meet Korin!" Roshi smiled, "to think a disciple would follow under my footsteps."

"Who is this Korin?" PaoPao had never heard of this supposed legend before.

"After the passing of Master Mutato, I was taught by him for 3 years, he gave me the Super-Powered Water, granting me great strength." Roshi smiled, "he might just be the next teacher for Goku, as there's not much else I feel I can teach him at the moment."

"What of all your secret techniques?" Yamcha asked.

"Please, I developed those over the years, they are the fruit of my labor, each of my students are better off developing their own styles rather than simply taking what I have."

Bulma turned to look at PaoPao. "And… you really are PaoPao?"

PaoPao nodded.

"Then what the fuck is your problem?"

"?!"

The group gasped at Bulma's brazen hostility.

"How dare you!" One of the members of Tsukimi ran forward but was stopped by PaoPao.

"What is your issue?"

"Why'd you let everyone think you were dead?!"

PaoPao raised an eyebrow, "who told you I was dead?"

Bulma glanced at Yamcha. "Umm…. I heard it from Roshi."

"I didn't tell you a thing!" The master shouted, "I received a call from contacts that PaoPao was injured or dead from an altercation with the Crane School, then I heard the update from Tsukimi that it was a lie. It was the Tsukimi agents themselves who only knew the false information!"

"Let's stop passing the buck for blame." PaoPao announced, annoyed, "Jazz was as surprised as I was when we encountered each other, but he quickly ascertained our enmity with the Crane School and saved my life while creating a reason for the Crane School to avoid attacking immediately after to retaliate, I failed to reach out to Roshi fast enough, and he didn't explain the situation to Yamcha, who simply overheard pieces of the conversation and passed it on to you, who then passed it on to Goku, we can only hope that neither of them fought and seriously injured the other."

"Do you think maybe Jazz could have explained the situation?" Yamcha asked.

"Not to Goku," Krillin muttered, "he's as subtle as an air horn and twice as loud."

"I wouldn't be too worried about either of them." Roshi said, "I remember coming across them the first time they sparred, Goku won handily, yet Jazz remained quite spirited.

"Can we just lay off this bull shit?!" Blonde Launch announced, "it's stupid and makes no sense if you think about it, who's to blame don't matter no more, all that's left is finding out what we can do to clobber those assholes who caused this mess in the first place." She smirked, "so here's what I'm proposin'..."

The others listened in awe at Launch's plan.

Goku made it to the top of the tower by sundown, finding a bowl-shaped floor and four perfectly circular entrances in the four corners of the bottom of the floor. Forcing his way up, he found himself in the basement area of Korin's tower.

"Hey! Korin-sama! It's me! Goku!"

"I've been expecting you Goku." Korin's voice reverberated from higher on, "take the stairs will ya?" Goku nodded and made the climb up. There, he saw the white cat standing with his back to the boy and facing the sky. Goku followed his gaze, then looked up to the moon, flinching he turned around, covering his eyes.

"Calm down will ya kid? The moon's not full, it's a waning gibbous, big, but not big enough, I reckon." Goku looked up at the moon, and for the first time he ever could, marveled at its pristine whiteness and beauty.

"I've never really looked at the moon before." Goku said, "for some reason, even though I'm not transforming, my heart is pounding." He turned to Korin, just in time to catch a Senzu.

"Eat that."

Goku nodded, chewing the crunchy bean and swallowing. He widened his eyes as energy filled his body once more. Removing his shirt, he ripped off his bandages to reveal smooth, clean skin, no longer marred by damage, the hole was filled with flesh, blood, bone, and muscle once again, and it felt as if the injury and pain he'd been baring was a lie. He smiled in relief, then turned to Korin. "C-"

"Can I train you?" The cat asked, chuckling, "you're stronger than me, even if I could teach you something, would you be willing to learn?"

"That Tao guy was weaker than me, but… I might have died." Goku smirked, "Master Roshi said that there could always be someone better, and he was right, even if they aren't stronger, they could be better, that Tao guy was better. And that Tien guy was really better."

Korin smirked, "That Tien fellow drank some of my Ultra Divine Water, he was strong, but he gained more strength doing that. " He held up a teapot, "do you want that? I can give it to you right now."

Goku shook his head, "I want to be my best before I need any outside help, after the training, if I don't think I've learned, then I'll ask to have that water."

The cat smirked, "okay then, put this on." He gave Goku wrist bands and ankle bands.

"These are heavy!" Goku replied, shocked.

"They are, special order from my boss." Korin nyaa'd, "also, put this on." He handed Goku a gas mask.

"It's… hard to breathe and see in this, and everything sounds muffled, and I can't smell anything!" Goku shouted through the mask.

"That's the point." Korin put on a little cap strapped to his head, on top of the hat was a little ball. "Your job is to poke this and pop it, I'll be stopping you. Normally, I'd put the Ultra Divine Water on my staff, but I think we'll have to be a bit more serious this time around." He narrowed his eye. "Alright, let's go!"

Goku began with a headlong charge. It felt unsteady and sluggish, and his feet pounded the ground as he ran, but he rushed Korin with enough speed to make the cat leap inadvertently.

"Yeesh, even with these handicaps you're still quite fast." They began their dance, with Goku leaping and striking at Korin, and Korin blocking, dodging, and parrying the attacks. As the hours drew by, Goku slowly began closing the gap, or at least, it looked like he was closing the gap.

"I…" Goku began gasping for air, realizing just how tired he really was, in a sudden motion, Korin swept his feet, kicking him into the air, and slammed him on his back. The air forcing itself out of his lungs mixed with his original exhaustion left Goku unable to move as he lay there, gasping.

"Well…" Korin looked at the night sky, "not bad for the first day." 'Wow… this kid is something else, his vision is limited, tinted, and darkened, his hearing, smell, and touch in reacting to air pressure near his face is nearly gone, he's got trouble breathing, doubly so due to my mask, and the weights make him slower than before, yet he still went at it for 6 hours.' Looking down at the monkey boy, he noticed Goku was fast asleep. "Have a good rest kid." He yawned, backing up to sleep as well.

Their morning routine started with quick baths, brushing of teeth, and a single senzu bean. Already, Goku was seeing marked improvements, his swipes got closer and closer, his jabs got closer and closer, his kicks caused the air to explode in power, and he lasted 8 hours before exhaustion took him again. He collapsed on the floor, resting. Korin walked over to the boy, helping him up. In the middle of doing so, the cat realized that if this was a trap, Goku would have been able to easily pop the ball on his head. If Goku knew he had such an advantage, he didn't let it on, nor did he try to capitalize on it. "Well, aren't you an honest lad?" Korin smiled at Goku, then with a loud battle cry, tossed the young boy off the tower.

It took the boy 3 hours to make it back up. "Why you!"

"Before even if you were injured, it took you 7 hours to make it up, now, despite being tired, despite bearing those weights, and despite having that mask that restricts your breathing, you made it up in 3 hours." He held his arm forward. "Continue, Goku, your training hasn't ended."

And so, the two continued for five more hours, with Goku striking and kicking and moving left and right until he collapsed once again.

Korin for his part lay down, his heartbeat fast and exhaustion had begun to take hold, but he kept it from showing.

After a few seconds, Goku asked, voice muffled by the mask, "How did the three-eyed get up here? And did he train like I did?"

"No, actually, someone else earned the Ultra Divine Water." Korin laughed.

"Huh?" Goku asked, surprised.

"Well, it's not so much that he earned the Ultra Divine Water, he bargained for it, the little sneak." Korin laughed, "but, interestingly enough, I didn't hate the little turd, neither did my boss."

"Who?" Goku asked.

"It was Jazz." Korin said simply, "the boy you brought up here to save a year ago."

"Oh." Goku crossed his arms. "But… why would he give it to that guy?" Goku saw how strong Tien had gotten.

"The Ultra Divine Water is dangerous, your life will be put in danger if you drink it, and it's not even guaranteed to work. It is possible to take it more than once, but each subsequent time is more painful than the last. It would have been the second time Jazz took it, as the first time was used to save his life. Also, that boy, I think his name was supposedly Tien Shin Han? He is quite talented, and in Jazz's own words, 'I think I'll grow better with strong people around me than by simply taking all these shortcuts.' Seemed like a cop-out excuse. But then again, what do I know?"

Goku raised himself up, "I heard that he killed my friend, PaoPao."

"Really, did he say that?" Korin raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"No… he didn't answer, he told me that I had to find the other dragon ball, which was here."

Korin nodded, "I see, I see. Perhaps, when you can, have a conversation with him, and learn why and what happened.."

Goku nodded. "I…he didn't talk to me though, I knew him first, but PaoPao wasn't a bad guy, and the people he was with, they were working with bad guys."

"I see… you're confused?" Korin smiled ruefully, "you truly have an innocent heart Goku." But Goku had already fallen asleep. "Feh…" Korin sat down, letting sleep overtake him.

Jazz's muscles tore from the strain of his workout. After his day of intense training as Tien and Chioatzu's training partners/ "punching bag", he began his own intense training. He practiced forms, movements, and techniques, then moved on to lifting weights then performing calisthenics. He sat in the cafeteria, limply spearing and eating his high-protein dinner. After this, he would return to his room, pour through the Crane School's various scrolls, activate his regeneration, and practice his newly acquired power.

"It almost killed you last time." Z pointed out.

"True." Jazz said, ignoring the looks as Crane School disciples watched him talk to himself. "But what doesn't kill me makes me stronger."

"You aren't a Saiyan." She sighed.

"I'm not, but muscle build-up occurs after the destruction of the old muscle, and consistent minor injuries over the decades can increase bone density and power, I can speed both these processes through my abilities." Finishing his meal, he got up.

"You know, you can speak mentally."

"No I can't, I still have a blinding headache."

As he stepped out of the lunchroom, he walked past Tien, who had his back to a wall. "Well… aren't you an odd fellow." He raised an eyebrow, "talking to yourself."

"Well, I have to be a little insane to train here, right?"

Tien laughed at his statement. "Honestly, I'm a little surprised about some things."

"Oh? What?"

"I'm surprised that you were capable of reversing Chiaotzu's power."

The air seemed to draw cold. "What makes you say that?" Jazz responded nonchalantly.

"Chiaotzu doesn't bleed like that unless his own psychic ability is clashed with by another ability."

"Oh?" Jazz asked.

"When he first began developing his technique, even the tiniest of movements would cause him to bleed from the eyes, nose, and ears, it would take months to heal from that damage." He looked at Jazz and flicked off a dried flake of red-stained blood from his shoulder. "Well… I owe you for healing Chiaotzu quickly, so I'll keep this a secret, for now."

"Thanks for the kindness," Jazz smiled back, though his smile didn't reach his eyes. Upon reaching his room, the boy sighed, sitting down.

"This is tiring."

"The jerk persona, the training, or just everything and everyone in general."

"...Yes." Jazz tapped the door as he leaned his weight against it. "I honestly sometimes wish I just asked Porunga to turn me into Frieza or some bull…"

"I'm looking at your memories, is that Frieza guy really that strong? I mean, I never existed in your memories, and neither did PaoPao."

"I'm surprised that you've taken to the idea that your entire world is simply a cartoon and comic series in another world so well."

"Well, it doesn't change that I'm experiencing reality right now." Z replied, "Besides, for millennia on millennia I've had to live blind to the world, this overabundance of information and future vision is honestly freeing, I can't get sick of it."

"Well, I'm happy you're having a good time." Jazz turned to the scroll before him. "The killing techniques of the Crane School isn't my style, but their ki techniques are all very interesting, the air dance, don don ray, tri-beam, and Telepathy." He closed the scroll, "Tien also develops the Solar Flare from this school's teaching." He sighs, "the technique of sacrificing vitality for greater power is especially useful for someone like me." He removed his shirt.

"How racy… stripping in front of me."

"Shut up." Jazz rolled his eyes and turned towards various objects on his bed. Like most other Crane Students, he had a simple room, a wardrobe full of uniforms, a small desk for reading and writing, a simple one-mattress bed with two changes of bed sheets, and a thin blanket. On the bed lay some pencils, knives, paper, rope, and clay. Jazz quieted his breathing as an odd hum filled the air. The first object that rose was a knife, a black blade that twirled rapidly through the air. Jazz narrowed his eyes and tensed, as he did, the knife slowed to a stop but trembled slightly in the air.

"Amazing… I didn't think it'd work." Z remarked. "It's one thing to change your body, it's another thing to cause that change by taking away the power from someone else."

"I mean, it's helpful to you, isn't it? When I'm gone, this will be yours, and you can travel the world."

"Not for at least a few decades." Z sighed. "Still, why did you spare them, if General Blue's as evil as your memory tells you, why'd you spare him?"

Jazz smiled as he looked back.

Seagulls normally didn't fly so far out past the mainland, but to the Red Ribbon Army, a bird-like that was a dime-a-dozen. If they had taken greater care to pay attention, they may have noticed a few tufts of red feathers here and there and bright green eyes. The eyes themselves were more eagle-like than sea-gull, with fierce vision designed to see past reflective surfaces like glass and the surface of the water. Using his powerful eyes, he was able to see his target.

General Blue in the Manga had been in between patrolling the waters to find the dragon balls and directing his men above water via a base of operations on one of the islands. Just as he got close enough to sense their ki, he felt one of the numerous lives on the ship fade like the snuffed-out flame of a birthday candle.

"So… how're you planning on doing this?" Z asked.

Jazz smiled.

The submarine was traveling, all business normal when one of the soldiers turned to General Blue.

"General!" He shouted.

"What?" General Blue was a tall man with short-cropped blond hair, crystal blue eyes, pale skin, and a handsome, clean-shaven face. He wore a Brown Military Shirt and blue riding pants with long black boots.

"We have a large object! It's on the radar!"

"So? It must be a whale or something, if it gets too close, shoot it down." The general straightened his red tie. Standing at attention. He enjoyed standing as such, he believed the perfect soldier must always be prim and proper, keeping composure at all times. As such he demanded composure and perfection from his men. He frowned at the empty radar chair, just before, he had caught one of his soldiers picking their nose and executed them, as his right. General Black disapproved of his punishments, but Commander Red directed him to lead his men as he saw fit. "I truly am a perfect being, and now, if only we could get the Dragon Balls."

"S-sir," the soldier began again, "the object…"

"Just shoot at it!" Commander Blue's eyes began to flash and the soldier felt a slight tug on his body as Blue's telekinetic power began to tug at his shirt slightly.

"It's coming from above!" The soldier cried out.

"What?!" A short silence filled the sub, then massive claws pierced the side of the sub. Water began flooding in. "Men!" Blue shouted, "prepare to fire at-!" His words were cut short as he collapsed in pain, the soldiers in the submarine also collapsed as a violent electric burst pulsed through the ship, stunning and subduing the soldiers.

The submersible was still and silent, slowly filling with water, it then eventually began to rise up, first to the surface, then above the water. Pulling the machine along was a massive eldritch-looking abomination. Two dozen tentacles, some like that of a jellyfish, some like that of squid, and some like that of octopus. The main body of the creature was large and bulbous, and one massive bugged-out eye seemed ready to pop out at any moment. Dozens of massive, membranous wings beat rapidly, keeping the monstrosity afloat as it lifted the massive machine of steel and lead.

"Looks pretty heavy…" Z remarked.

Jazz, who had taken the form of this monstrosity, simply grunted. The creature's body was bulbous due to special organs allowing it to fill with air and inflate like a pufferfish. A chemical reaction inside increased its internal temperature to beyond boiling point in the massive air sac, allowing it to lift slightly, the massive wings then provided the rest of the force while powerful tentacles with clawed tips and electricity-filled dendrites allowed the creator to pierce the hull of the ship, with the added strength of ki, and shock all the crew members. As a finishing touch, Jazz colored the monstrosity a deep blood red, with black vein-like membranes appearing in the surface, especially around the nearly see-through bulbous inflated sections. 'I can manage, the body is supported by a hollow cartilage cage, I combined the hollow property of bird bones with the soft, light, flexible property of cartilage bones of a shark, then arranged in a similar fashion to pufferfish allows my dome to lift without too much fear of puncturing.'

"Sounds complicated..." Z began, "Ooh! Yeah, did you create names for these things?"

It wasn't really complicated, at least, not any more complicated than his dragon-like forms, the connected tissue, nerves, and extra neurons required to activate the organs used to give him splitting headaches, but his training and frequent use paid off eventually. 'I haven't really thought of names… umm… how about Nightmare Octopus?" Z made gagging sounds in his read.

"I bet the dragon is called Ultra Super Thunder Dragon of the Heavens!"

Jazz ignored her as he dumped the submarine on the side of the closest random island. Deflating slightly, he used the powerful musculature of the tentacles to rip the hull open like a can opener. Opening the submarine, he selected his prey, pulling out the unconscious General Blue. 'So… I just, desire?'

"Yup."

Jazz watched in alarm as a sharp stabbing pain hit his eye, he de-transformed and began to writhe on the ground. Opposit him, General Blue awoke and began to writhe in pain.

"AAAAGH!" The Red Ribbon Army elite squirmed left and right on the ground, he struggled up. "What the hell!" He glared at Jazz. "Who in blazes are you?!"

Jazz slowly stood up, only to be kicked back. He rolled away from another strike and extended his feet, tripping over the General and punching him back.

"Oh? You can fight." Blue muttered, holding his hands in a martial stance.

Jazz got up and stretched a bit. "Maybe a little." He activated Pump up and charged Blue. Before the blond man could react, Jazz smacked him once, twice, then three times over on the face, the third attack hard enough to break a tooth.

General Blue held his tooth, trembling. "My beautiful face!" He turned to glare at Jazz, who casually walked over and kicked him in the groin. "?!" He collapsed in pain. "But… how are you resistant to my power?!"

Jazz smiled, eyes changing from emerald green to icy blue, almost matching the General's blue eyes. "Ask God, he sent me here." He raised the General in the air using his newly acquired psychic powers, only to collapse, bleeding from the ears, nose, and eyes.

Blue fell, gasping in shock. He began rising slowly and reached for a sizeable rock. Before he could drop it on Jazz, the latter fired a thin beam of ki, destroying the rock. Before Blue could flinch, Jazz activated a full-powered Pump Up and smashed the blond bastard's face into the sand. He looked down at the unconscious man, then began to wryly smile despite his pain, "Freaky Alien Genotype"...

"WOW…" Z sighed, "That's immature, it's the common year, we don't bully people for being different."

"Aren't you like a billion-year-old dinosaur?" Jazz retorted, "I'm sure you've said worse things about people like me in a sitting, let alone regardless of whether they were murdered."

"Hmph…"

Jazz smiled at the memory.

"Stealing is wrong Jazz."

"Honestly, it's more like hostile acquisition." Jazz replied, "besides, I wouldn't have been able to throw him in jail if he still had his psychic powers."

"According to your memories, he can crush a phone booth in his grip." Z pointed out.

"Well if he breaks out the Orange City Police department has my phone number on Speed Dial." Jazz retorted.

"Why didn't you just kill him?" She asked.

"I've not killed anyone yet unless you count animals or that talking pterodactyl, but that was an eat or be eaten situation. I'm not going to waste my breath on a piece of crap like him. In fact, Tao would have killed him." Jazz wiped the blood from his nose, though it quickly began to drip blood again. "It does hurt quite a lot actually." He sighed, "Well, something new to master."

"When would you ever stop trying to master something new?"

"I don't know, probably when I'm dead?"
