Fist clashed against fist, causing a resounding ring to fill the air.

"Is that all you can do?" Yamcha leaned over Jazz, or more specifically, Jazz 3.

The young man, like his opponent Yamcha, wore the Turtle School training gi and weights, Roshi had paired them up in the morning sparring session, stating that he simply wanted to see their physical ability, no special techniques, and no ki or magic, just fighting skills. Yamcha had him beat in strength and speed, but due to both of them wearing the weights, the speed reduction brought on by Pump Up 2x was not as prevalent, that, mixed with the power of the werewolf transformation, even when hidden behind another transformation, allowed him to somewhat keep up. Roshi considered both those techniques as valid as long as he did not attempt to use ki attacks. But even with these handicaps, Yamcha held a comfortable advantage.

Jazz 3, unlike his fellow doppelgangers, was a practical person, he considered it his duty to be serious due to how jovial and silly the others were.

"You haven't beaten me yet, Yamcha-san!" He shouted, crouching forward, he charged into a straightforward dash.

Yamcha raised an eyebrow at Jazz's surprisingly swift acceleration, but he dodged out of the way easily. Jazz rolled forward then sprung off his palms to dodge Yamcha's flying kick. Raising his hand, he blocked Yamcha's follow-up attack. With a grim smile, Jazz put all of his strength into his throw, flipping Yamcha into the ground. Yamcha landed with a heavy thud and lay there for a few seconds before rolling back up. "Wow… you've improved over these 5 months." Yamcha smirked, "I'm seriously proud, kid."

"Thanks." Jazz smiled, "but I'm like 4 years younger than you I think, no need to call me a kid, you're like, only two years older than me."

"Well then stop acting so stiffly, you know you terrified Hercule with that attitude." Yamcha shook his head.

When Bulma brought back PaoPao and Krillin, Jazz had come along and asked to be trained by Roshi. Over the course of the 5 months he had been training with them, he had been getting more and more serious and brusque, until now, where he was mostly stoic, cracking the rare joke only at someone's expense. Hercule, who had known Jazz for a while due to his shared protection of Miguel, had been terrified that something had happened to Jazz, which caused the latter to uncharacteristically play a few pranks on the world-famous fighter.

"Seriously man, he can't look at crabs the same way anymore." Yamcha shook his head, causing Jazz 3 to chuckle.

"Sorry, I just want to take things as seriously as possible." Jazz sighed, "I have a lot to do in preparation for the next tournament."

"That's not in two years!" Yamcha exclaimed, "you'll be fine."

Jazz nodded, "I hope so." He yawned. "So…" He turned to Master Roshi. "What now, master?"

Roshi nodded sagely, "I'm giving you all a week off."

Jazz paled while the others cheered.

"Wait, Master Roshi, I…" Jazz 3 began.

"Jazz, if I work you too much, training stops being beneficial, you must take a rest every once in a while, or you'll destroy your mind and body, even if you believe yourself to be alright." Roshi patted Jazz on the shoulder. "One week without heavy training won't kill you."

Jazz 3 nodded, "alright." He walked back to his room and took a hot shower. As he stood in the shower, he stared at his fingertips, at first, he seemed stronger, but the others looked like they were catching up, and it was scaring him, the rate they were going made it feel like he would begin to lag behind when his job in the first place was to increase their overall base power. 'I wouldn't have been able to face Tien, my power level is likely currently still greater than Jazz 2's, but the increase in power for the werewolf transformation and a version of Pump-Up that grants speed is what kept Jazz 2 alive…' He let the hot water wash away the dirt and lather all over his body. He dried himself then wrapped a towel around his waist, then hair. He stepped out of the bathroom and nearly screamed.

"Quiet, the others are resting." PaoPao sat on his bed, she was in a different uniform from normal. As opposed to her wear, suited for combat, she was in a Red Chinese-style dress with a slit skirt, revealing part of a shapely, muscular leg. Thigh-high dark stocking and bicep high white gloves cut a stark contrast from her healthy tanned skin, and her face had a slight blush and eyeshadow from makeup and ruby red lipstick on.

"Um… why couldn't you just wait outside my room or knock on the door like a normal person?" Jazz asked.

"Can't you sense ki?" PaoPao replied. She was looking down at an open laptop in front of her. "You should know someone's in the room.

"Well, yes, but it's not like I have my mind on it 24-7." Jazz 3 did his best to hide his irritation as he picked up his clothes from his dresser and walked into the bathroom. "Anyways." He said behind the closed door. "What do you need?"

"The dragon balls have reawakened."

Jazz paused, "really? Has it been a year?"

"It has been exactly 358 days. This seems to be the typical time between Dragon Balls reawakening, though it apparently fluctuates depending on the level of the wish."

"I see…" Jazz nodded, stepping out of the door. He was in a simple white t-shirt and khakis. Ankle-high white socks covered his feet and his hair was combed. He stood in front of PaoPao, looking at her inquisitively with his green eyes. "Is that why Roshi gave us the week off?"

PaoPao nodded, "You did promise me you'd help."

"Yes, I did, and I still intend to help." Jazz scratched his head, "when are we going?"

"Tonight, we will stop by my stronghold to pick up supplies, then we will head over to the Grood Kingdom.

Jazz 3 recalled Jazz 2's confrontation with Tien that occurred 3 months ago, "The Grood Kingdom? What does King Gurumes have to do with the dragon balls?"

"He is about to advertise the hunt for the dragon balls, and his choice of payment are these crystals that are only found in his kingdom, they're known as Blood Rubies."

Jazz 3 kept himself from being surprised. "Shit… I've actually heard of that movie, but… how does that work? There's no way, it's neither cannon nor conducive to the main plot. Plus it should have taken place 2 years ago, right when Goku and Bulma met, why is it only starting now?"

"So… what's our first step?" Jazz sat down next to PaoPao, arms crossed.

"We must go to Bulma and request the Radar, currently 6 of the balls are with him. I believe the 7th Ball is with Goku."

"Wait… all 6 balls already?" Jazz was surprised.

"As opposed to a criminal organization like the Red Ribbon Army, Gurumes has legitimacy as a king and can purchase the dragon balls with Zeni or Blood Rubies if he chooses." PaoPao nodded, "we can't stop that, and there's no law against collecting the dragon balls."

"I don't think he's planning on doing anything good with those things though."

"Yes, that is true, but at the same time, there's not much King Furry can say without causing international issues. If rumor has it, 300 years ago, the first of his lineage became king of the world through the wish."

"Wow…" Jazz 3 shook his head.

"Of course, before the invention of the radar, it was almost impossible to find the dragon balls, it could take years, decades, or even a century to find even one, so it might be a lie his detractors use to reduce his legitimacy." PaoPao shrugged. "Anyways, King Furry will send a diplomat over, Tsukimi has been tasked with protecting that diplomat, due to the fact both the Red Ribbon Army and Crane School have made it obvious that they reside in the kingdom and receive Gurumes' goodwill."

"I see, so, I will be…"

"King Gurumes enjoys balls."

Jazz 3 chuckled. "Sorry…"

"Be serious!" PaoPao allowed a light smile to hit her face. "King Gurumes enjoys hosting balls, he ruled that the group coming over had to have an equal number of men and women, all of whom who could dance."

"Wait… what?" Jazz looked at PaoPao. "Do I even look like I can dance?"

"What kind of stupid question is that? No one ever looks like they can dance, it's a matter of practice."

"Okay, but why me? And why are you in a dress now if we have to leave tonight?" Jazz asked.

PaoPao sighed, "Look… outside the pre-approved list, I'm only allowed to bring one other person on the published itinerary. We know conflict will happen, but we need them to strike first, or else we'll be damned by the international community."

Jazz nodded, "I understand, so I gotta be public there, and it'll piss em off enough to show up and attack us, cool…" He narrowed his eyes, "so… why are you already dressed up?" A the moment, the impression to share his experiences with his other selves prompted. He did so, only to widen his eyes in shock and turn red. "Uh… anyways…"

"Yes?" PaoPao turned to look at him, smiling.

"I'll be ready, so no worries!" He got up and stepped out of his room.

PaoPao watched him leave until she could no longer hear his steps. "...Moron…"

Jazz 2 clenched his teeth in annoyance. "That moron! She liked him, and he's ignoring it! Doofus!"

Jazz 1 shook his head, "that moron is us though?"

"That moron is you!" Jazz 2 screamed out, "goddammit! Why are you so dense?!"

"You do realize that even if I wasn't 'dense' we don't know the extent of her feelings, or ours." Jazz 1 said pointedly. Jazz 2 quieted at that statement. "First of all, let's assume PaoPao actually has some sort of feelings for us...me? Do we like her back? Or do we just consider her pretty? Then there's the whole issue that… I literally come from another world, we never did resolve that talk with her."

"Well, neither she nor he, we…" Jazz 2 clutched his head, "fuck, why am I confusing myself?!"

"Shut up, anyways, let's pretend we get together? What happens when it's time for me to leave." Jazz 1 looked at his doppelganger, "My dad is dead, my mom is in shambles and my older brother won't leave his room. I have to go back to them, you of all people know that. It sucks, this world is cool, and it's great to be able to… I don't know, enjoy myself? But I have to get home, and you heard Porunga, I have to live through this entire bullshit to do it. It's not fair on anyone for me to get into a relationship, so I'd rather not even pretend to think about it. I don't even fully know the win condition, I have to get to the end, but if the mortal level is fucked and Goku isn't the same, Zeno won't give the universes a chance, if Goku's not strong enough or something happens to cause events to not occur the way they should vaguely, what if Beerus doesn't wake up? Frieza will literally kill us all that second time around. And look at this shit… movies are part of this universe. That means Cooler, Slug, Turles, will Z Broly be here? Or will it be Super Broly?"

Jazz 2 shrugged, "look man, I don't know, but there's no reason to be so ornery about it all, there's nothing wrong with enjoying ourselves, the best thing to do is be honest, then we go from there."

Jazz 1 sighed, "Why am I so stupid."

"I don't know." Jazz 2 sighed, "but it's getting annoying sharing that last brain cell with you."

Jazz 1 chuckled at that. "Hahaha… funny joke."

"You think?" Jazz 2 smirked.

"No, go back to training." Jazz 1's eyes began to glow as water seeped from the walls, flames began to surround him, and lightning arced all around.

Jazz 2 shook his head, then in a howl, transformed into a werewolf, using nothing but the physical strength of the form, he leaped up from the prison hole and climbed his way to the surface.

Jazz 2's training was quite simple. He was aware of the well of power within the werewolf and the fact that Pump-Up was a mix of releasing the hidden potential within him as well as unleashing energy over his limits. In many ways, it reminded him of stories where mothers were able to lift cars to protect their babies. When transforming or activating his power, Jazz was able to understand the primal desperation to survive that triggered such states of power. Tapping into that emotion more would cause chemicals to flood his brain and his brain to remove his body's limiters, doing this multiple times with the transformations allowed them to grow slightly stronger each time. It was an infinitesimal gain of power for the multiplier, but it added up over the days, months, years. Of course, the act of transforming in and of itself was emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausting. So Jazz 2 would rest, eat, train physically, and converse with Jazz 1 often.

For Jazz 1, he needed to be in a state of supreme concentration at all times, so for him, Jazz 2's distraction tactics posed as the best sort of training for his naturally short attention span.

In his study of magic and psychic ability, Jazz 1 was able to unlock new and creative ways of using his magic. He learned to create water at an instant that immediately evaporated into thick hot vapor, he was then able to reverse engineer the action and develop water that was materialized immediately as ice, and water he could transform into ice when needed. For the water he turned into ice, he could shape it before it materialized, forming many tools, from swords, spears, shields, walls, and even sculptures of people, of course, these were all mostly useless, as the ice wasn't exactly the strongest solid structure, the shards could very well be very deadly though when used correctly. Eventually, the experimentation of hot and cold air allowed him to generate the conditions required to create electricity. While he would like to call it lightning magic, it was nowhere near as powerful as the real thing, but it was a work in progress. Jazz's psychic abilities had increased several times over as well; he could now, with his extended ki sense, catch any animals within 100 meters and kill them. Of course, as he wasn't a psychopath, he only did that when the plants and animals Jazz 2 caught weren't enough for the both of them to eat.

"God, it's so boring here…" Jazz 1 couldn't help but lament his position. "Why'd I make such a stupid promise?!"

Jazz 2 grunted, his wolf ears were extremely sensitive to any sounds. As he trained in the form, he marveled at how it was beginning to feel like slipping on a second skin as opposed to a bulky parka like it used to be. Every time it got a little easier, and he got a little faster. After a few seconds, he yawned, then howled into the sky. The whirlwind took hold of his body, and he transformed, back into his standard form. "Nice… okay…" In a howl, he transformed once again and began the same set of drills once more.

Goku looked at his Grandpa's ball, "oh wow… it's glowing now, I guess the dragon balls are working again." He put it back in his pocket. As he sat down in his makeshift tent to rest, he heard the sound of a jet plane approaching. He stuck his head out. "Huh? What do these guys want?" He stood up, waiting for the ship to land.

As he stood, the door opened, revealing a man he'd never seen before. "Huh… you look kind of weird."

The man, a tall black man who was covered in multiple metallic parts and replacements smirked. "Yeah, I get that a lot."

Goku's eyes widened as a beam of light nearly beaned him in his back. "Hey! Oh! I know you!"

Mercenary Tao, wrapped in metallic armor and with a cannon on his arm and goggles replacing his eyes smirked. "Yes… me…" He charged forward, knife replacing his cannon arm. He swung with surprising speed, Goku ducked and dodged with rapid speed before kicking Tao into a tree.

"Damn! He's even faster than before!" Tao cursed.

"I guess you bad guys are after the dragon balls!" Goku blew raspberries. His eyes gleamed gold, but before he could attack, a beam of light struck down from below. Goku fell to the ground, "ouch!" He turned angrily up to see as hundreds of Crane School Students charged their ki blasts.

"SUPER TRI-BEAM!" Almost all of them had some robotic enhancement which began to glow with energy as they fired blast after blast at Goku. Eventually, a half-mile deep crater remained from their attack.

"Did… did we get him?" Commander Black asked in surprise.

Mercenary Tao had been the one to suggest this idea when the drones observing Goku caught his fight with a mysterious being. The power outputted by both fighters far exceeded Gero's calculations, and it would take at least 5 years to develop an Artificial human design that could match or surpass that style. So Tao requested that he simply power up the members of the Crane School with strong but short-lived robotics. The machinery super-charged their ki-based attacks, but it was faulty, and would eventually break down, killing the students alongside it, only the elite students and he had models that wouldn't simply break down.

"We didn't! He's getting away!" The ship captain looked at his radar in alarm, only to see Goku get on the nimbus cloud and fly as fast as possible from the scene.

"How did he survive?!" Tao growled, "that should have killed him!" He turned to the Crane Students, half of which had collapsed, never to rise again. "Incompetent fools!" He spat on the ground. "Everyone still alive?! Chase after him now!" He ran into the ship with Commander Black.

"Dammit! How is he still this strong?!" Tao threw a stone forward angrily, "this shouldn't be possible!"

"Unfortunately, it is, Mercenary, we need to rethink our plan of action, without the last Dragon Ball, the plan will bear no fruit."

"Dammit, where did General White go, he should have been with us!"

Commander Black simply smiled, "He's… tying up loose ends…"

Jingle village was enjoying a quiet and peaceful night.

"Are you sure you don't want any CoCo?! I have to thank you for your hard work!" A short, stout woman patted the large 'Frankenstein's-monster' looking man.

"No, it's okay, the cold doesn't bother me and I'm so strong, so I was glad to help!" Hacchan, Android 8, smiled at the woman. He had just finished shoveling the snow in front of her walking path, connecting it to the main town road, which was as clear as if a snow piler moved through it.

"You're such a sweet young boy!" The woman smiled, "better than my son at least!" She turned to the house, scowling. "You better have cleaned up your room!" She marched back towards her house, causing 8 to giggle at the sight. The android walked past the homes in Jingle village, some lights were out, signifying that the family had all gone to bed, some were still on, others were on and had people looking out the window.

"Hey! Hacchan! Come over to my house next time! My daughter really had fun yesterday!"

"Hey, Hacchan! Looking good my man! You're a strong fellow!"

"Hey! Hey! Hacchan! When I grow up! I wanna be like you!"

Even though he was a robot and robots weren't supposed to feel emotions, Hacchan felt an almost indescribable feeling within him whenever he saw those kind people. "I really do love it here." He murmured.

He made his way back towards the house he stayed in. The mayor and his wife were kind enough to let Hacchan stay with them, and they treated him like their son. Hacchan believed his life was truly blessed.

The first thing that alerted Hacchan that something was wrong was how some of the stars seemed to flicker in and out of sight. He narrowed his eyes in confusion, unlike most Androids, he wasn't equipped with an especially strong night vision mode, so he lacked the ability to make out the black, wispy air. He, however, was equipped with olfactory sensors, so he could smell the smoke before he even heard the fire. He ran forward, then stopped, gasping as he saw an image from his electric nightmares.

"Pa! Ma!" Hacchan ran forward, his home was on fire, he had to get his family out! He barreled through the door and made a beeline for the mayor's bedroom. He'd normally knock, but in such a dire circumstance, he was sure the mayor would forgive him. "Pa! Ma! We have to get out…" Hacchan paused.

On the floor lay the elderly couple, their blood splattered everywhere. The old man's neck was twisted in an unnatural direction, and his neck in an odd shape and the old woman's face was smashed in, resembling the contents of a smashed pie, with matter and fluid splattering everywhere.

"I was waiting for you…" Hacchan's eyes looked up to the figure sitting on his parents' bed. General White looked almost the exact same as he had when Android 8 first opened his eyes, he was in the same winter clothing, smoking the same pipe, and had the same smirk on his face. "As you can see, I got a little bored, so I decided to kill time…" He laughed, "then I decided I'd burn the midnight oil waiting for you!" He guffawed at his terrible jokes.

Android 8's fist smashed into General White's face so hard that the sound barrier broke. Windows shattered as the General was launched a quarter of a mile away. Hacchan leaped after him, face twisted in absolute fury and circuits overheating. It was a hot, painful feeling that began to well in his chest, he didn't understand it, but he wanted it to stop. Somehow, he knew that if he got to the General, if he pounded the man flat, the pain would stop.

General White tumbled across the tundra, Hacchan landed right next to him and skidded to a stop. Before the General could speak, Android 8 began to pummel him into the ground with enough force to form slight craters on the icy ground. They slipped and slid in the brawl. Android 8 grabbed White, then slammed him on the ground repeatedly, he lifted him in the air and punched him repeatedly, then kicked him away.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHGHGHG!" The Android leaped up, grabbing White before he could hit the ground, then he tossed him down. As he dive-bombed down towards the General he extended his legs, stomping down just as he landed, the resounding force of the impact blew away a massive amount of snow, revealing the cold hard dirt for the first time in decades in that area.

"Why did you hurt ma! She was stern to pa! But she loved him! She knit me sweaters! Gave me soup to help others! Pa was kind and funny! He always told jokes and his face was so silly with the pipe and those bubbles and rings! Waaaagh!" Android 8's voice rang with pain as he cried out, he pounded into the General, who bounced like a ragdoll while Hacchan unleashed his fury. Eventually, he raised a hand, catching 8's. The sound of metal creaking filled the air as Hacchan felt his fist being pushed back. General White opened his eyes, revealing a manic grin as he began getting up.

"Would you look at that… if I didn't know better, I'd say you were crying. A machine like you doesn't know love, or pity, or sadness, or grief, you're broken, and it's time to take you to the repair shop!" He slammed 8 into the ground, then began to beat down the Android. Android 8 tried blocking and counter-attacking, but General White was stronger, faster, and more skilled at fighting. Eventually, the general cupped his hands and slammed them on Android 8, denting his chest. "You know… let's make a bet…"

Android 8's arms lay helplessly broken at his sides, and he could only stare up into the night sky, his vision slowly fading.

"I think under all that iron, I'm not going to see a heart, I'll just see cogs and a battery, maybe even a hamster in a wheel, a little insignificant machine like you deserves to be turned into spare parts…"

Afterword:

This chapter was actually hard for me to complete, not due to writers block, no, I knew what I was going to type, but rather what I had to put Hacchan through. He's a very minor character in the original series, but he's always had a soft spot in my heart, gentle giant type characters are always a delight to interact with for me, especially those who have a great power they keep hidden away because they are generally so peaceful. Unfortunately, General White doesn't seem like the kind of person to let bygones be bygones, so he'd definitely come back to the village for revenge. As for the Goku gank? As opposed to Jazz, who could prepare with a ki blast, which multiplies his apparent power level. Goku was caught by surprise, so even if he's much stronger, he had to both deal with more Crane Students (80% of which were souped up from Gero's robotics over the… actually, legitimate year since they defeated the Red Ribbon Army, so he's definitely improved, within that year though is the 5 months of upgrading some Red Ribbon Army members, as well as Crane School students) If all of them use a "super Tri-beam", like Cyborg Tao's "Super Don Don Ray", Goku will have trouble, but at the very least, he survives it and is able to make a short escape, for now.
