Master Shen slammed his fist into the table. "Why the hell are they still alive?!" He turned to Gero, who was sipping tea.
"Patience, my good man, things have only begun." He looked around the room, sitting across from him at a round table were Commander Black, General White, Mercenary Tao, and Master Shen. "A momentary failure simply means a chance for later success if we learn from our mistakes." He shook his head, "I underestimated their power." Son Goku's strength is greater than any individual thing I can produce when he enters that agitated form. He is the crux of the matter, as his absolute power will be our biggest obstacle." He poked the table, "the largest variable, however, is the boy, Jasper Duncan. I had assumed that his being at the Crane School while also appearing to be the bodyguard of the young singer Miguel was simply a matter of other students from the supposed Transformation School, but it may be much deeper than that."
"What makes you say that?" Commander Black asked, while he had been disappointed he hadn't been able to fight, and angered by Jazz's potential sabotage, he kept a level head. He was prepared to learn from the losses they experienced.
"My drones caught Jasper at the ruins of the original Crane School." Master Shen darkened at Gero's flippant attitude, but the doctor continued. "He utilized an unrecognizable energy to destroy the drones whenever they got within range, as if he was aware of their presence, and knew to expect them." Gero then tapped another part of the table. "I had sent other drones all over the world to record the actions and movements of powerful fighters, as well as collect DNA. All of them have been successful, except for in four locations." He put a finger to his forehead, "the first location is near the ruins of Frying Pan Mountain, local sources site the area as associated with the Southern Transformation School. Yokai are a difficult people to pin classifications on, so I assume there is a barrier or illusion of some sort that keeps others from entering."
"So? What does any of this mean?" General White growled. "We already know the bastard learned from that school."
"The real matter of interest is the recordings recovered from the 3rd location if you count the Crane School as location 2." Gero smiled, "many remote islands dot that area, and 2 of the islands had the drones destroyed before they could collect any DNA. The first island is home to a remote village known as penguin village, there are bizarre happenings that I often record there, but except for two points of interest, it is irrelevant to our discussion." He spread his hands out, revealing photos.
"It's just the brat." General White growled, "the time we spend talking could be spent killing that kid."
"It's… Jasper?" General Black was confused, "I apologize, what am I supposed to see?"
"You're idiots." Mercenary Tao said.
"What did you say?!" General White growled.
"I said you dullards lack the sense and vision to see the broad side of a barn if it smacked you in the face." The cyborg turned to General White. "Is that easier to understand?"
"Alright bastard, I've been annoyed with your uppity attitude." General White cracked his artificial knuckles, "let's fucking tango!"
"Brother…" Shen began calmly. "Calm yourself, we are allies, at least while those brats and Roshi still live." He turned to the photos, "these are different photos." He pointed to one set of photos, "Jazz's clothes are green and are slightly tattered, his hair is waist-length, and he's quite limber and wiry looking, with long fingernails and toenails that are black, thick, and pointed like a wild animal's." He pointed to the next picture, "this Jasper is bulkier, he is wearing the contemptible Turtle School Uniform, and his hair is cut in such a way that it only goes below his ears at the most, and his fingernails are human."
General White scoffed, "the second set of photos is literally what we saw today, I don't understand what the issue is, we know the boy can transform his body, so that explains any inhuman features."
"These two sets of photos were taken at the same time, over 12 thousand kilometers away, with a 5.732 nanosecond discrepancy," Gero said.
"That's nearly a third the length of the Earth!" General Black's eyes widened in shock, "it can't be…"
"For the first three days, I was able to get pictures of both areas easily, but once Jazz in the Crane School discovered my drones, the one on the island began to get weary of their presence. It is only now, that the young ones had left the island, that I was able to observe the supposedly legendary martial artist, Muten Roshi." Gero crossed his arms. "I made many interesting discoveries that helped further my working theory on how energy worked. And I have already begun putting together an experiment, but that won't be for at least a decade."
"This is great and all, but what does it mean? This Jazz kid can be in two places at once?"
"It means he has the capability of being in at least two separate locations at once, yes, and that the two instances can communicate thoughts and experiences at nearly an instant. Hence why the Jazz on the island was capable of detecting the experiences of the Jazz at the Crane School." Gero grinned, "discovering how they were capable of doing this may add another piece to the puzzle."
"Well, knowing how he did it is great and all, but I need to understand, what are we supposed to do?" General White asked. "They're coming into our home turf, and King Gurumes looks like he'll welcome them with open arms."
"We do nothing," Gero stated simply.
"...What?!" General White stood up angrily.
"Stand down, NOW!" Black stood up, towering over the equally imposing General. The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds.
"You know, I'm more powerful." General White grinned, "we've already tested the power parameters, Black, or should I call you Artificial Human #9?"
Commander Black, if he was insulted or offended by the insubordination, did not attempt to make his irritation visible. "I am ordering you, as the commanding officer, to stand down, the doctor is the reason you have the power you're so boastful of, and you've already displeased us with your handling of Artificial Human #8's capture."
"Pssh… he's an android, just a few hammers, and screws, and he'll be back together in no time, besides, I easily trounced the bastard."
"Really, tin can?" Tao laughed, "then what happened to your face?"
They turned to observe General White's face. His lip was cut and his nose was broken, and he sported a few bruises here and there. Gero's modification of the former human had been much more intensive compared to General Black's and he based much of the design on the work he did for Android 8.
"The loser got in a few lucky shots." General White shrugged, "but at least I finished my mission. You had 200 Crane Students, you didn't even catch Goku or collect the dragon ball, how many Crane students did you lose too?" The General smiled. "Besides, tin can? At least I can say my face is as human and beautiful as it's always been, though I've got to say your freakshow metal face is an improvement to that ugly-ass mug I spied before."
Master Shen stood up, "I believe this is the conclusion of the meeting? You want us to do nothing, is that correct?" He looked at Gero, they were the only two who did not bear any cybernetic changes.
"Yes, if you can." Gero nodded.
"I understand." Shen turned to his brother, who grumbled but stood.
"Fine, this meeting was a waste of time anyway, I'll leave the losers to lick their wounds."
"Hey!" General White was about to rush them when Black appeared in front of him with surprising speed.
"General White, stand down." Commander Black ordered.
"But they-"
"I understand your anger." Gero began, "but please keep things civil, they are still our allies, even if…" He let his voice trail.
An awkward silence filled the room.
"Ahem… even if…" Gero continued, reddening slightly.
General White rolled his eyes, "alright, I'll bite, even if what, oh wise and generous doctor?" He added the last part sarcastically.
"Artificial Human #10," Gero began, "it's quite simple, really. They already knew of Jasper's ability to split into at least 2."
Commander Black raised an eyebrow. "How?"
"Many members of the Crane School traded it as idle banter, but after a few weeks, all talk of Jazz was stopped. Shen was also insistent that if someone were to kill Jazz, it would be one of his Crane School students. Tao considered the task above him, so they simply kept sending inexperienced idiots at the boy, giving him ample time to determine the location of my drones and destroy them before facing down and defeating his threats. He also has been killing students of his who returned after failure, only four students have survived his anger." Gero smiled.
"And how do you know that?" General White asked.
"Who do you think upgraded Mercenary Tao's optic nerves?" Gero waved his hands dismissively, "the idiot brought it on himself, they've not been forthcoming whatsoever, if not for two assistants I received a few weeks ago, I'd have not made any headwind in my research of ki, and power in general." He chuckled, "in fact, those two idiots are probably heading to my assistants right now."
Further, into the new Red Ribbon/Crane School complex, Tao and Shen cursed at Gero. "That coward! 'Goku's power exceeds the expected parameters, so now we must run with our tail between our legs!' That bastard…" Shen seethed, mimicking Gero's voice mockingly.
"Don't worry brother, we're merely using them until we amass enough power to come back on top." Mercenary Tao sighed, "already, I can feel the limits of my cybernetics, yet that doctor won't upgrade me, but he upgrades those foolish bureaucrats constantly. Despite that, I can still dance circles around them with my martial skills."
"He obviously wants to hold us in check, and make us his servants…" Shen clenched his fist, "But that idiot doesn't realize…" He smiled as he looked towards the two figures standing at the edge of a doorway. "We're on to his little schemes."
The two figures stepped into the light, the most noticeable was a tall man with pale blue skin, he stood at 7 feet tall and was insanely muscular. His forearms and forelegs were massive, like the trunks of a tree, and his fingers were thick and corded, with flat tips and thick knuckles, signifying his focus on grappling his opponents. Almost every inch of his body looked as if it was developed to be a weapon. The girl next to him was very different, standing at only 5 foot 6, she was elegant and pretty, with shoulder-length black hair. She sported an exotic, revealing outfit, and the weapons she wielded made her identity as a ninja easy to determine. The most interesting part of her outfit however was the family crest emblazoned just above the circle cut exposing part of her bosom, revealing the symbol of the Ninja/Assassin Clan known as Dango.
"So… is it time for me to cut down my stupid little sister?" The girl asked, smiling. The blue-skinned man seemed to tremble, but one quick glance from the girl stopped his movements. Shen looked up to eye the talisman on his forehead.
"I take it the procedure went well, Mei Lin?"
The girl, Mei Lin, PaoPao's elder sister, smiled, "it did, I have to thank you for the reference you gave me nearly 2 years ago. I would have been lost without it."
"I'm simply thankful to see a familiar face, and an appreciator of the martial arts at that, in such a wretched place."
Mei Lin laughed elegantly at Shen's biting remark. "Please, they aren't that bad… they just need a bit more…" She smirked, "perspective."
…
Jazz 2 awoke with a start. He felt a rush of energy revitalize him, and sat up rapidly. He peered up at the sun, it was morning. Looking around, his eyes focused on the small figure of a young boy with long black hair wrapped in a ponytail. He had dark skin and a Native American complexion, bore red paint on his face and shirtless torso, and had a few feathers in his hair.
"You're awake!" The boy shouted cheerfully.
Jazz 2 could only respond by groaning. He moved to grab his head and began to shakily stand. Even though he was full of energy, he was also wracked with a severe headache. "Where am I?"
"You're in the Korin forest, sir!" Upa shouted excitedly. "My dad found you while we were surveying the damage! A great demon invaded our forest!"
"A… a great demon?" Jazz asked.
"Legends tell of a monster that came to our planet 300 years ago, it was wreathed in shadow and smoke and absorbed and possessed people. It was sealed away by God and the Demon King, but some of its evil seeped into the demon king, and he began trying to take over the world."
Jazz 2 cocked his head, "I didn't know that…" He got up slowly, "who are you?"
"I'm Upa!" The boy, Upa, said.
"Oh? So your dad must be Bora." Jazz 2 nodded.
"You know my father?" Upa looked up in confusion.
Jazz shook his head, "I'm a friend of PaoPao and Goku."
"Oh!" Upa grabbed Jazz's hand, "let's get my father then!" Jazz allowed himself to be dragged by the child deeper into the forest.
"How long has your people lived in this forest?" Jazz asked.
"Umm… maybe 200 years?" Upa said, "at least, my father says that he says that our patriarch was trained by Korin in the ways of the forest, learning to walk the line between beast and saint, and swore to protect this forest, soon, people like him came together, and our tribe was born!" He led Jazz through a thicket of trees and into a massive throng of tents arranged in orderly rows. The overall shape was of tents placed in a circle around a massive campfire, with rows of tents past the first, 8 straight line gaps existed, cutting a clear path from outside the circle into the main circle. Jazz whistled in appreciation, there were at least 300 tents.
"That's quite a lot."
Upa smiled proudly, "many of our brave warriors had been out hunting when the Red Ribbon Army first attacked, but if they had been here, those bad guys wouldn't have gotten so close to our forest's center!"
"You're really trusting of me." Jazz said, "I could have been lying to you."
Upa eeped and ran from Jazz. "I've been tricked!?"
Jazz 2 chortled, "no! I was just…" He burst out laughing, "sorry, I was playing a prank on you, I'm not lying."
"...How do I know that isn't a trick?" Upa asked suspiciously. In that same moment, men of the village, accompanied by a tall, muscular warrior approached.
"Upa? Who is this?" Bora asked, eying Jazz wearily.
Jazz looked at himself, his shirt was in tatters and his pants were little more than rags, despite healing, his arms and legs were pink, almost red in some places as if he had been skinned in that area. Mixed with his wild messy red hair that he hadn't bothered to cut or trim for the year, and he looked more like a hobo or insane mountain man over a regular person.
"He's a friend of Goku!" Upa said excitedly.
"Oh? Really?" Bora looked at Jazz, then smiled. "A friend of that boy is a friend of ours." He turned to Upa, "but why did you bring him here?"
"He fought against the great demon!" Upa frowned. "I wasn't making it up, dad!"
Bora sighed, "Upa, I want to believe you, but the demon is a myth, passed down as a horror story, I should have told Jacoby to knock of the stories, but I haven't been able to find him, or the others."
"I fought someone…" Jazz said, "I'm not certain if it's this great demon, but it was like both a shadow and smoke at times."
Bora's eyes narrowed, "show me." Jazz 2 nodded, fur sprouted from his body, and he became a medium-sized wolf-dog. Bora backed up in shock, and the others around shouted in fear.
"Skinwalker?! Kill it!" They were about to charge forward. Bora stopped them. "But… sir Bora!" One of them shouted, "it's a monster! We cannot allow it to remain on our lands! If the demon is indeed real, it's because of this one! He invited it into our lands."
"This being, skinwalker or not, is a friend of the boy who saved my child, and saved my life, I will not attack his friend in good conscience."
Jazz stared at the group, "So…" His voice was slightly scraggly, "can I find where we fought?"
Bora nodded, "Is he still here?"
Jazz shook his head, "I'd have sensed him." He rushed into the forest. The warriors looked at each other, then followed the white wolf-dog.
…
"So… we'll actually have this ball?" Krillin asked skeptically. After last night's incident, the team had been prepared for an all-out battle, leaving them quite high-strung. Yet the would-be confrontation was ended, twice, through Jazz's intervention.
"I knew you could do magic, but that was quite impressive." Yamcha said, "it looks like you've been practicing it as much as you've been training your body."
"Thank you." Jazz 3 smiled, then frowned, "it feels like a bunch of people tap-danced on my head, what happened?"
Hercule was the one to answer. "Well, uh… your limbs sorta blew up, then kept regrowing, then blew up."
"You blew a hole in the ship and began to fall from the sky!" Bulma yelled.
"Oh…" Jazz widened his eyes and regretted it as the light flooded in. "Ow…" He sighed, narrowing his eyes, "so… what happened, how did I survive?"
"Grood kingdom soldiers found you, you crushed someone's home and destroyed their master bedroom."
Jazz blinked, "I… what?"
"It was super fucking cool, watching you fall from the sky like that!" A young voice shouted at him. "You destroyed our dad's house! He was so mad he shot you! But then you kept healing! And he got even madder and tried reaching you, but the wounds healed and burned him a bit!" Jazz focused his eyes on a pair of almost-identical-looking kids. They had extremely piercing, attractive light blue eyes, and small noses and mouths, as if they were sculpted by an artist. They looked like they could have been fashion models in a few years with how striking they looked now. One twin had black hair and the other had blond hair. On impulse, Jazz got up, looking at the black-haired kid he muttered, "Lapis, and Lazuli, right?" He turned to the other kid the blonde, for confirmation.
The kids stared at each other with wide eyes then nodded their heads rapidly at Jazz. "Wow! You must be psychic or something!"
'These kids are shorter than Goku…' Jazz turned to Goku, who even Chi-Chi had surpassed in height over the year since they last met, "You're even shorter than Krillin." Jazz said pointedly.
"Hey!" Krillin growled angrily, causing the kids to burst out laughing. "Hey!" Krillin shouted, "you brats!'
"We aren't brats!" The girl shouted angrily, "We're 8!"
"Why's a fossil like you so mad?" The boy asked, chuckling, "just cause you didn't hit puberty yet doesn't mean you should be so mad."
PaoPao raised a hand to quiet everyone down. "Please-"
"What do you want, old lady?"
"Old?! I'm 16!" PaoPao snapped.
"Yeah! Old lady!" The boy, Lapis, began to laugh some more.
"Hey!" Chi-Chi raised her hands, "let's all calm down, we're trying to explain to our friend why he…" The 7-year-old boy ran forward and poked Chi-Chi's chest, causing her to scream and hold them, then the 7-year-old girl flipped her skirt, the two of them sprinted out into the hallways. A few seconds later, a cacophony of screams and the sound of people shouting and swearing hit everyone's ears.
Jazz 3 nodded, "I get it… their dad's probably in the hospital, and you don't want them to necessarily blab about anything they might have seen, when I fell, right?"
PaoPao nodded, "yes, that's right…" She winced when she heard another person scream.
"I'll… I'll get them…" Jazz got up.
"You're in no shape, we'll do it." Yamcha said.
"Yeah! After all our training? They're just a couple of snot-nosed brats!" Krillin said, pumping his firsts. "It'll be like taking candy from a baby."
Krillin and Yamcha would soon come to regret that bravado, but they didn't know it just yet. As they ran out of the room, they were left with Chi-Chi, Goku, Miguel, Hercule, Bulma, and PaoPao. The other members of Tsukimi had filed out when Jazz awoke, and Reuben, who had provided a Senzu bean, excused himself.
"Who was that guy?" Jazz mentioned the grizzled-looking man with the prosthetic leg.
"That's Reuben." PaoPao said, "he was a former member of the Red Ribbon Army's Yellow squadron. According to the briefing, he had bandaged up and cared for the surviving members of the King's Army and Tsukimi forces stationed in that area to intercept the army, and was paramount in keeping Goku alive before the Red Ribbon Army sent a cleanup squad, which Goku eliminated."
Jazz 3 was silent, 'that's… really, really different from before…', "I see…" was all he said. "Oh…" His eyes rested on PaoPao, "can we talk now? I want to know why you blew up at me, and I'm sure you have a bunch of questions for me too."
PaoPao raised an eyebrow. "Fine… I can humor you." She gave the others a meaningful glance. Everyone, except for Bulma, left the room.
"I think I know what this might be about." Bulma said, "so I'll just be outside the room since Jazz told me first."
PaoPao nodded, but her eyes never left Jazz's. After Bulma left, the door locked and the sound of air hissing was heard followed by a suctioning sound. "This room doubles as a medical bay and interrogation spot, I asked Bulma to design it carefully, so that almost no sound could be heard, either within or without the room."
If Jazz 3 was nervous about what PaoPao was to say before, he was even more nervous now. He allowed a wan smile to hit his face as he laid down on his bed. "Alright, shoot, you ask your questions, then I'll ask mine."
"Alright…" PaoPao took in a deep breath. "What is your family like?"
Jazz blinked in surprise, he turned to PaoPao but saw that she was serious. "Oh… um… my mom is a worrywart. She fusses over me like crazy. I think it's relatively typical for a mom to always be worried, y'know?" Jazz laughed, "I was always analytical as a child, and I'd overthink every single thing, my mom was worried one day I'd get in over my head and freeze up. But she also called me dependable cause I always planned and stuff…" He turned to PaoPao, "sorry!" He remembered how PaoPao never knew her mother and her issues with her father and elder sister.
"No, continue, I want to know more." PaoPao sat on a small wooden chair by the side of the bed.
Jazz nodded, then continued, "umm, but she also gets really nervous really easily, and when she gets tense, she can freeze up and make silly decisions. One time, we came home to her crying cause she got tricked by one of those gift card phone scams." He shook his head, "Then, there's my older brother. He was the coolest, y'know? He was always calm, collected, he made time for me. If I was too high-strung, he was way too easy going though. He was lazy, he'd never clean up after himself or do much of his homework, but he was smart enough to pass with C+ or B-, depending on his mood, the only classes he ever paid attention to were art, history, gym, and music. He even joined the school band, orchestra, and choir."
"He was multi-talented then?" PaoPao asked.
Jazz laughed, "give him an instrument and he can learn its entire progression in 2 days, and play you a fantastic little ditty in a week!" He smiled sadly, "but… he hadn't been doing well, since the last time I saw him."
"What about your dad?" PaoPao asked, "what is he like?"
"Oh? Dad? He was great! He was stupid lucky when he was younger, ended up working as a secretary for some law firm, made enough to support us on one income, then retired at 40 and began to run his own fishing shop. 'Tom's Fishery and worms' he called it. It wasn't too successful, but it was enough to sustain us mixed with his retirement."
"You said 'was'?" PaoPao noted, "I don't mean to pry if it's not comfortable for you."
"Long story short, he died, but thanks, I don't want to talk about it."
PaoPao nodded. "So… you really come from another world?"
"Yeah, I do." Jazz turned to look at her. "I didn't lie back then." PaoPao's face scrunched up. "I'm sorry," Jazz began.
"So… did you know about me? Is that why you saved my life?" PaoPao asked bitterly. "You knew I'd become the leader of Tsukimi or something? Or was it rather that you knew I was going to die on the streets, so you took pity on the pitiful me…" She turned to look at Jazz, a bitter smile etched on her face. Jazz replied by karate chopping her forehead.
"Idiot!"
PaoPao fell to the floor, clutching her head in pain. She looked up at Jazz, whose eyes had begun to fill with tears.
"Not once was I thinking anything like that, yes, this world is depicted as a comic and a series of games, shows, and movies in my world, but I never once thought of this world as simply a playground. I never even knew of your existence PaoPao."
"Oh… so I wasn't even important enough to mention…"
Jazz 3 felt his temple pulse and a headache overcome him, he ran to the toilet and wretched a pitiful red, green, and yellow mixture of bile and blood. He came out of the bathroom, clutching his head. "You moron!" He cut off his mental connection to Jazz 1, Jazz 2, and Jazz 4. "You've read comic books, right? Is everyone supposed to know the identity of every human in the world? If my world has a story, I'm most certainly not the center of attention, but I matter, you matter, fuck! I saved you for no reason other than that you were a kid like me! Starving and beaten up on the side of the streets. I saved you for no reason other than that I didn't want to see you die, and you were in front of my eyes."
PaoPao looked up at Jazz, smiling wryly. "You could have ignored me."
"And have that on my conscience?" Jazz 3 smirked, "except for animals in the direst of circumstances and a mosquito, fly, or roach if circumstances called for it. I have never killed a living being here, any sapient ones at the least. Leaving you to die would be the same as killing."
"What of the Crane School students?" She asked.
"I fought to cripple and injure, the Jiang Shi killed the ones who continued to resist, and I'm not going to kill myself trying to stop a friend from killing an enemy. Especially one as vile as them."
"I see…" PaoPao seemed thoughtful. "Then, in this story, who are the main characters?"
"Well…" Jazz began, "that's a little uncomfortable to approach."
"No, no I'm sorry, it's not important to me, not anymore." She sighed. "It's just when I first heard what you said, I couldn't believe it… I was, angry that you lied to me, then… if you were correct, I was terrified of its implications." She looked up, "I thought defying my family's will to kill me off and living was me defying my fate, to imagine that it was preordained instead…" She blinked to fight off tears. "It scared me, my master, Baba, could predict the future, but the fates of others were always variable, every single person risks the chance of death every single day due to their interactions with the billions of other humans, and trillions of other lifeforms which interact with each other on this planet, not even counting the variables caused by the infinite universe we live in."
"What the fuck does that mean…" Jazz 3 asked.
PaoPao burst out laughing, "it means even if you know something is coming, anything can happen, and even the knowledge you have on something coming up in the future can mess up the way you interact with the world. But if we're a storybook, the fate of the world is already written in stone, is it not?"
Jazz shook his head, "no… not really," He chuckled, "I wanted to leave as quickly as possible, return back home and to my family, but unfortunately, I was told that to do so, I'd have to stick around for a long while, I'm unsure as to how the world is going to change due to my interference, but already, things have happened, and you know what?" He sighed, "it's not just me changing things, you all acting the way you do, events like the Sleeping Princess incident and that bastard Lucifer, I never heard of some these things, the fact they exist make this world much more different from what I've read, and also different from any iteration of the story, no matter how similar the main beats are. Hell, we literally almost died to a freaking demon-ghost-giant monkey monster like literally yesterday." He plopped down, tired. "Fate's not set in stone, and if it is, you'll shatter it with a clenched fist, all of you will."
"All of us…" PaoPao corrected, reaching out to pat his shoulder.
Jazz 3 smiled, "...yeah."
After a few seconds of silence, Jazz cleared his throat, "ermm… we should probably check on Yamcha and Krillin."
PaoPao nodded, "yes" She helped Jazz 3 up and they stepped towards the door. All the while, Jazz 3 kept a firm lock on his mind, keeping his fellow doppelgangers, and his original, from hearing his thoughts and vice versa.

Afterword:
Jazz 3 seems to be wavering on something, or perhaps his mind still reels from the shock of the idea that someone from his world might be here too, and that they know him. So he wants to be alone with his thoughts, he doesn't need the detached answers he'd get from his other selves. It seems he and PaoPao were also finally able to get that much needed "talk" about why she was mad. Other than the obviously disrespectful undertones of being told your entire reality is a work of fiction, the majority of PaoPao's life was spent under the boot heel of her father and elder twin. It's obvious one of her first thoughts might be "did someone author my misery?" in which case, I'm sorry PaoPao, that was me, the author of this fanfiction. Now, interestingly enough, due to the way I right, I don't have an idea for the immediate future, many things have happened in this story because I felt "yeah this is the logical next step" as opposed to "this is the way a story should be" so that adds to the mystery of it all hopefully.
I've introduced Lapis and Lazuli early, for those who know who they may be one day, "shhhh..." to answer one question I might see cropping up, there's no established birth date for those two, but it's believed that their change occured right around late teens early adult, and thus they were born year 744 or 743, or around that time, I decided 744, simply because that feels like it makes sense. It kinda makes our main man Mr. "Owned-Counter" look like a cradle robber, but at the least, they are both adults in the original, and the power dynamic is very much in her favor, which removed most of the issues for me personally. But yeah.
