(A/N: Happy very very belated Xmas, Gracie! Oneshot based on her wonderful To All The Boys story featuring Covinsky's daughter and her OC Evie.)
Peter's pov
Covey had returned to New York City to kick off her book tour, so it was just me and Evie at home. And we were making the most out of it. Like most fathers, I had all but forgotten the meaning of the word NO when it came to my little princess, barring something LJ and I had strictly forbidden for her safety. I was wrapped around my daughter's finger, but I was not reckless with her. I'm brought out of my thoughts by her voice, waayy too cheery and alert at 6AM on a Saturday
"DADDYYY! Wanna go to the Corner Cafe for breakfast?"
I chuckled at her enthusiasm and sunny disposition
"Absolutely, Evie-Song. But let's maybe wait til Joan opens the Diner. Not everyone wakes up with the sun like you, Angel."
She smiled
"Okie-dokie. But I'm too wake now. Can I lay here with you? Please, Daddy?"
Grinning at my adorable four year old, I playfully lifted her up on the bed in a sideways fashion, causing her to giggle adorably
"Daaddyyy! I'm ticklish!"
Pressing a kiss against her forehead, I smirked playfully
"I know that much, silly goose. And you can always come here with me."
She smiled, making herself comfortable in my arms
"Thanks, Daddy. Love... you"
Her eyes started drooping shut again the more she started curling up to me. She is the perfect blend of Lara Jean and I. My eyes, LJ's facial expressions, her morning person energy, but my ease to fall back asleep if everything was just right, as it seemed to be with her nestled in my arms. It did not take long for her to be completely asleep. I set an alarm to wake us both up so we could still go to the Diner for what we had actually planned the day before. A brunch. I would pair their unbeatable chocolate shake with bacon bits I could dip in the shake and a side of eggs, and I assume Evie would get her interesting combo of scrambled eggs, chocolate chip cookies and a coke. Not a cherry coke like her mama, she didn't take to those, much to our surprise.
We both woke up at the sound of the alarm a few good hours later, and not long after we had gotten comfortable at our staple booth at the Corner Cafe. A place first claimed by my baby's grandparents. Evie and I were both in our respective food comas when a song I knew very well started playing. Beginning, Middle and End. Mine and Covey's song. Evie's eyes lit up
"Daddy, it's your and Mama's song! Dance with me since she's not here?"
I obliged with the largest grin on my face, happy to be spending some one on one with my daughter while still honoring my wife. One of my favorite brunches at the Corner Cafe for sure.
