Ella, avid crocheter as she was, had run low on yarn and needed to pick up a few skeins. She knew the perfect place to indulge her hobbies, the local Woolmart.

Let's see, a nice yarn for pooling a scarf, something that will look like the lesbian pride flag would be nice.

After a bit of searching, Ella found the perfect yarn for her project, picked up enough skeins to fill her arms, and headed to the checkout.

"Oh, that's new?" Ella mused out loud on seeing the self-checkout, "I guess I'll give it a try."

Its dazzling lights and glowing screen were new to Ella, she preferred cozy e-ink displays to the overstimulating displays of iDevices.

Cautiously, she approached the self-checkout, not knowing what to think.

"Welcome to Woolmart, did you find everything ok?" the self-checkout asked.

"Bwuh!"

Ella jumped, her glasses shifting clumsily out of place and skeins of yarn falling to the ground.

"Please scan your first item," the self-checkout said.

Picking up her yarn, Ella placed them on the pre-checkout holder on the self-checkout's left. She looked at the display, seeing multiple buttons, decided she would try the Manual Entry button.

"You're kinda cute, would you like to check me out?" Ella whispered as she reached for a credit card and used it to press the Manual Entry button.

"Please enter first UPC Code," the Self-Checkout beeped out, pleased to the touch.

"Oh, it must like it that way," Ella whispered in response before tapping in the UPC code by tapping the buttons with her credit card, "Its good to use protection."

"How many of this item?" the self-checkout beeped.

"Four," Ella whispered as she tapped the 4 button, "Uhhmmm... what do I do next?"

As if anticipating this the self-checkout asked "Anymore items? Please scan next item or press Pay Now to complete your purchase."

"Oh, perfect!" Ella exclaimed. Greatful for the advice, Ella followed the on screen instructions and completed her purchase.

"Please take your receipt"

"Oh my, you're so considerate," Ella whispered as she took her receipt, placed it in her skirt pocket, gathered her yarn, and left the store.
