Howdy and welcome to Human Unit Never Killed otherwise known as HUNK. A while back I'd gotten an idea for Hunk to crossover into MHA, basically an extra character who'd go through the events of MHA but instead of going to UA he'd be in the LOV. I had worked out a general plot and even wrote a few test scenes for the story but eventually, my interest in MHA began to wane a little and it simply fell through. A few days back I'd just been scrolling through my Docs and I saw the document I'd made for this very story. I looked through it and a few scenes made me remember why I'd been so in love with the idea and so here we are. This One-Shot is based on three scene tests I did for I-island specifically but modified to fit my new narrative.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
"To succeed in your mission you must have a single-minded devotion to your goal."
- A.P.J Abdul Kalam
Personal Log #205: Seventy-four hours ago I was contacted by a villain organization for a mission. The contract was not a typical assassination or the exterminations I've been hired for and instead, I'm going full circle into recovery. The Japanese Villain Organization 'The League of Villains' has paid me half of my fee in advance so I'm obligated to do as they ask.
Their head honcho contacted me, and the man gave me the feeling I was talking to someone who simply saw my value to him and nothing more, didn't bother me. I've worked for people of a similar nature. He gave me the meeting location and I met my team.
The leader's codename is Wolfram, quirk is capable of manipulating metal. He's prideful and doesn't take threats as seriously as he should and it may interfere with the mission. Not many under Wolfram's command are very notable; the few that are are because their quirks are offensive and rather useful. Most of the members are similar to me regarding weaponry but lack the training I received.
The team is adequate but disappointing in what I expected from one of the most influential villain groups in Japan. We head out in a few hours and will reach I-Island by sunset. If all goes to plan, getting in won't be a problem and exfill shouldn't either, but I feel as though something may go wrong and I usually trust that feeling. It typically turns out correct.
- HUNK
A quick intake of air, a pulsing heart, and the nice smell of gasoline is what Hunk regained consciousness to. Groaning lightly he turned his head to see the mangled cockpit of the helicopter and an arm poking out. One of the pilots.
Hunk grunted before trying to stand, "Agh!" he fell back down as a sharp pain raced up his leg. He turned to see his leg had been impaled by a jagged piece of metal. Not the worst pain he's ever felt but he needed to get that out. He twisted over to a sitting position, ignoring the pain as best he could, and went to grab the piece when something caught his eye.
A spark from the wires inside the helicopter was getting mighty close to a pool of gasoline.
Hunk immediately stopped what he was doing and turned over to the sliding door which seemed rather intact. He crawled toward it, grabbed the handle to pry it open, and pulled. It was jammed.
A noise behind him immediately made him move faster, getting his uninjured leg against the wall next to the door. He pulled, hard, the metal groaning under the effort he was putting into this. He turned his head to see what he knew would happen, a fire had just been made and he needed to get out of the chopper now.
He turned back to the task at hand and pulled again, with everything he had he pulled.
Shunck!
The door pulled back and Hunk dove out landing on the ground outside with a roll just as the chopper lit ablaze. He lay on his back just breathing before getting back to a sitting position and grabbing the shrapnel again to pull it out-
"Heh, guess you survived," Hunk turned to see the team leader, Wolfram kneeling nearby with the case containing their objective next to him, "Can't say the same for the others," Wolfram said as he popped open the seals on the case.
"What are you doing?" Hunk asked as he watched Wolfram.
"All that talk of being heroic and All Might went straight for Shield," Wolfram said, grabbing the Quirk Amplification Device.
"What are you doing?"
"Tch, a fuckin' record player are you? What does it look like? I'm getting some payback on that smiling bastard." Wolfram put the QAD on his head.
"The objective-"
"Fuck the objective! Besides if I kill All Might and take Shield I can get him to make more of these. I can make a fortune on the black market," Wolfram activated the device and immediately doubled over, catching himself as he did though.
Hunk immediately grabbed the metal piece and tore it out, he turned, got to a kneeling position, pulled his MUP pistol out, and aimed directly at Wolfram but it was too late. Metal wires snaked up from the floor and around Wolfram like a protective cocoon before the cocoon went up with more wires joining them.
Hunk lowered the pistol growling under his breath. He knew there was no way he was getting that device back from the idiot, and getting between the Symbol of Peace and Wolfram's quirk getting enhanced by the QAD was not even an option for Hunk. It was suicide plain and simple.
Though it seemed luck had decided to be on the mercenary's side today.
Hunk noticed the case that held the QAD had been knocked away from the coiling wires. He moved over to it, his once bleeding leg having stopped a moment ago, and kneeled over it holstering the MUP before grabbing the case. He scanned its remaining contents and found something that would certainly save the mission.
A hard drive. Most likely containing information on the device and even possibly blueprints to make another one. It wasn't what his employer wanted but hopefully, it would work for him. Hunk grabbed the hard drive and tucked it into his hip pack.
His mission still needed to be completed. He needed to get to the maintenance tunnels and get the hell out of there.
An explosion rocked the tower making Hunk stumble slightly but another thing fell next to him. He looked down and saw it was a QCRB rifle the same kind that the rest of the team had used, and it seemed one of the pilots had survived. He picked it up and inspected it, quickly releasing the magazine and checking the amount left, full, good. Hunk reinserted the mag and slung it across his back, it wasn't his usual weapon of choice but it'd have to do.
Another explosion and Hunk was already looking for a way out. The helicopter had crashed into a few floors beneath the roof but had inconveniently crashed in front of the door and he couldn't see another way out. No door. No hole. Just the broken wall leading to a deadly drop.
Hunk moved toward the drop and looked down. Examining the side of the building he noticed a few metal wires slithering up the building, one was coming from a window further down as well. Hunk looked back before making sure his equipment was secured to his person.
He looked out again at the wire and made his choice.
Hunk let himself fall forward off the side. He was in freefall for a few seconds until his hands found purchase on the wire and he slid down fast. It didn't last long and soon he was flinging himself through a broken window.
He slid through the room until a wall stopped him. Hunk immediately got to a kneeling position and the first thing he did was check his pouch for the hard drive, it was still intact and showing no signs of damage. Good.
Hunk stood up and moved his rifle to a position under his arm, so he could use it much easier and switch to his pistol if he needed to. Hunk moved out of the room and into a hall, he began running down the hall occasionally stumbling slightly thanks to the fight above his head.
He knew that if the fight continued the whole tower could come down and that thought made him speed up. Hunk passed several rooms, he didn't know if they had people in them or not but kept his guard up in case someone jumped out at him. Idiots and heroes sometimes did that.
Eventually, he turned down a hallway and at the end he noticed a stairwell sign. He sped up and burst through the door immediately snapping the CQRB up and scanning the stairwell, moving up to the rail and looking up and down. Nothing yet.
Not wasting time Hunk began running down the steps. He didn't keep track of the floors he passed, only wanting to get to the end and get to the bottom floor and then the tunnels. He refused to fail.
Hunk stopped as he heard the echo of people rushing up the stairs. He looked over the side and to his annoyance it was a bunch of random heroes running up and of course.
"Hey, stop where you are, villain!"
They had noticed him.
Hunk quickly took a glance at the number of the floor he was on and saw 83 on the wall. 83 was good, which meant the stairwell was connected to the plant factory which had the elevator in the middle of the floor.
He just had to figure out how to get down to the elevator from skywalks without breaking both of his legs. He'd figure it out on the fly but he didn't have time to make a solid plan. Hunk turned on his heel and kicked open the door to the 83rd floor before rushing in.
Hunk sprinted down the corridor, having been used to his heavy equipment for years and no longer had the trouble of its weight he wasn't slowed down much. After turning a corner he heard the sound of the stairwell door being ripped off its hinges and a small glance back got him the view of the red door slamming into the wall.
Hunk had a feeling he didn't want to tango with whoever had the strength to do that but had another feeling that it wouldn't really be up to him. This wouldn't be the first time he's hit outside of his weight class; he'd just have to be careful.
Hunk continued down the hall increasing his pace a little as muffled voices began yelling from down the hall. He paid them no mind and simply ran for his life and objective but he did hear the sounds of pounding footsteps coming closer.
He needed to delay them, maybe neutralize a few while he was at it.
He grabbed a grenade out of a pouch and turned a corner. He pulled the pin and dropped it, not looking back as he did and just continuing his run. Though he was counting.

BOOM!
An explosion rang out from behind him as well as a guttural scream. It seemed his impromptu trap worked, as they usually did. Society tended to put the idea forward that heroes and villains always duked it out on the streets fists to whatever the hell the other one did.
Hunk himself didn't subscribe to that nonsense. Sometimes hand-to-hand was necessary but he tried to stay out of range from heroes and villains as everyones quirk was different and there was usually no way to figure it out unless it was betrayed by the outfit or the hero was famous enough to have a well-known quirk.
Hunk turned his head back toward the hallway, seeing if anyone followed, in time to see a man burst from the smoke. A hero wearing a roughly militaristic outfit with a gauntlet strapped to his right arm. The hero skidded to a stop and pointed the gauntlet forward.
"TURBO CHARGE: OVERDRIVE!" the hero yelled as a large blue beam shot from the gauntlet. The beam was the size of the hall and seemed to tear through parts of the wall. Hunk immediately turned to a side door and bashed it open diving into the room and snapping back up with his CQRB up at the entrance.
He waited for the beam to die down, dissipating to show a view of the charred hallway. Hunk idly wondered how anyone would have survived that or if it was an attack that was meant to be lethal. Either way that laser was deadly and Hunk could not get hit by it. He had to neutralize the hero and get moving.
Hunk quickly made his way to the door, hugging the wall directly next to it. He listened and the moment he heard a footstep on the charred floor he popped out of the room and fired. A burst of six bullets quickly spewed from the CQRB's muzzle and hit the hero several times in the chest ripping through the man's vest and most likely his heart.
Hunk didn't stick around to watch the hero fall to the ground and simply turned on his heel and sprinted back down the hall, the door to the plant factory at the end of it. He burst through the door and immediately noticed the plants in the place. It was called the plant factory for a reason after all.
Hunk quickly located the elevator tube in the middle of the room which spanned the whole of the tower. He then looked for a way down and found, to his frustration, the way down was all the way across the room! Hunk pushed the frustration down easily and continued forward-
THWIP-SMACK
-just to get tackled off the skywalk by a hero. The hero was sporting blue and white spandex and had six arms instead of the typical two and mandibles instead of a normal jaw.
"You won't get away, vill-" the spider-themed hero was cut off by Hunk using his wrist blade to stab the hero's throat. The two were in freefall and Hunk didn't feel like taking the brunt of the damage so he twisted himself and the corpse so that the corpse was beneath him acting as a macabre cushion.
A moment later they slammed into the ground. Hunk immediately felt pain coursing through his chest and rolled off the crushed corpse, getting to his feet unsteadily before turning and making his way to the elevator shaft. He hadn't landed on the level where the doors were.
Hunk walked up to the glass shaft and tapped it to try and get a read of how thick it was. It was far too thick for one of his grenades and he didn't want to risk going down a level to the elevator doors. He made his decision.
Quickly kneeling and unslinging his pack from his back, he opened it and grabbed the contents that he wasn't sure he'd be able to use but packed on the off chance. A pack of thermite breaching charges, able to get through four feet of concrete and a foot of titanium.
Hunk quickly pressed the thermite to the shaft and began setting it up. He could hear shouts coming from above so he knew he'd have to hurry up. Setting the last part of the charge, Hunk pulled the activation pin and backed up.
Hunk turned away from the thermite charge to watch for anyone attempting to sneak up on him but he listened to the thermite burning through the shaft. He looked back up to the skywalk he came from, about two floors up, and saw multiple heroes looking around trying to spot him.
One of them finally looked down.
Thankfully Hunk heard the telltale sound of the thermite having punched through and suddenly an explosion went off behind him. Hunk shook his head to wave away the disorientation from the noise of the explosion and immediately moved for the hole.
Hunk looked into the elevator shaft and saw the wires and everything had been stripped, probably taken by Wolfram in his fight. An explosion echoed from the top of the elevator shaft as if to compound the idea. Hunk looked down and then to the walls of the elevator shaft.
Hunk had to get down this elevator shaft and he had an idea. A stupid, dumb idea but it was the only thing he could see even working. Hunk grabbed his sheathed knife and looked at it. A titanium-tungsten alloy that cost a lot of money to make and one he hadn't really used. It seemed today was its durability test.
Hunk flipped the knife into a reverse grip, checked his equipment, and jumped.
The floors flew by him as he fell through the elevator shaft. Hunk counted down from ten all the way to zero before he slammed the knife into the metal wall. A horrible sound of shearing metal echoed through the elevator shaft as sparks flew from the knife's incision into the metal as Hunk continued moving down but at a rapidly slowing rate.
Eventually, he came to a complete halt closer to the bottom. He looked down and saw the bottom of the shaft, thankfully not very far down. Nodding to himself he planted his feet on the metal wall and pulled the knife out making him fall again.
Hunk landed with a thud and stood looking up at the closed elevator floors of the ground floor. Hunk pulled out a small jimmy bar from his vest pocket and climbed up to the door ledge. He maneuvered his body to hug the elevator door and thrust the flat part of the bar into the crack between doors.
He pulled the bar and the elevator opened just enough for him to reach a hand in. He put the jimmy bar back in his vest pouch and placed his other hand on the other door, he pushed hard separating the elevator doors, and then rushed through just as the doors shut behind him.
Hunk glanced at the door and then across from him. If he was correct the tunnel was practically in front of him, a disguised hatch hidden by a panel. He walked forward-
"We gotta move, come on!"
-and made his way back to the elevator shaft. Stepping behind it and hugging the corner but keeping the QCRB ready in case he needs it. He listens as people, most likely heroes or the actual protective personnel meant to be in the building, burst through the door.
"Come on, from what I saw of the damage we shouldn't take the elevator!" A man yelled.
Hunk turned his head and was looking at a stairwell nearly directly to his right only a few feet away. He grabbed a flashbang from his hip just in case.
The footsteps thundered closer with Hunk backing up slightly as they didn't see him in their peripheral vision. Red lenses watched as a group of heroes stormed by and without looking back went directly into the stairwell.
Hunk clipped the flashbang back to his waist and moved toward the panel. He knocked on the wall, checking if it was the right spot, and got a hollow noise back. He nodded to himself and backed up slightly before kicking the panel. The fake wall shattered under his boot and he quickly moved to clear the debris.
Chucking the last part of the panel aside he grabbed the door handle and threw it open. He moved inside and noted the hole in the middle of the small room behind the door. Hunk looked down the hole and saw an inky black abyss staring back. He took a flashlight from his back hip pouch and turned it on, beating back the dark to see the bottom.
It wasn't much of a drop, he could just hop down. Hunk turned back to the entrance, he knew it'd be only a matter of time before someone found the door so he had to delay anyone who tried to enter.
Hunk turned to the door, stepping on the edges of the hole, and closed the door. He took out a grenade then he grabbed a wire and set it up so that when someone opened the door they'd get a surprise in shrapnel. This was the only trap he was setting and he hoped that whoever found it would believe more of the tunnel had been trapped delaying them a little bit longer.
Nodding at his work, Hunk turned back to the hole with his flashlight and simply stepped off solid ground and fell into the hole.
Hunk had run miles through the tunnels, having previously memorized the route he'd have to take from blueprints given to him by Wolfram a day prior. Without the map, he would've been running blind and most likely caught within a few hours. Now he could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hunk moved out of the dark maintenance tunnel and onto a small dock used by workers to do repairs and such. He moved forward toward a black dinghy with a large boxy crate at the back of the boat. Hopping on, Hunk went to it and opened the crate revealing a radar jammer.
I-Island's systems were capable of tracking anything that came and went from the Island so to get in or out without detection you only had two options. Stowaway on a ship as Wolfram and his team, including Hunk, did. The other was to somehow hide your blip from the radar, which was what Hunk was going to do. Hunk had prepared for the possibility he and his team needed to exfill quickly and the chopper wasn't an option. He should've figured his nickname would hold up.
Hunk unfolded the antenna and tapped a few buttons and soon a noise pulsed from the machine. Hunk nodded and moved for the front seat, started the dinghy, and drove out of the dock and into the light of dawn.
The sun continued moving in the sky as Hunk drove the dinghy on the water. It'd been a few hours but Hunk wanted to make sure no one was following him before contacting his employer. With nothing but ocean for miles, he figured now was a good enough point.
He stopped the dinghy and moved back to the antenna, pressing a few buttons to switch the jammer off and a few other buttons to switch the antenna's purpose to communication. A few button taps later and his employer was connected to him.
"Ahh, I hadn't expected you to contact me," All For One said, "I've already heard of the mess on I-Island. The news is a wonderful thing at times. I'm assuming you were incapable of obtaining the Quirk Amplification Device?"
"Affirmative, Wolfram used the device in an attempt to get back at All Might," Hunk replied.
"Hmm, I figured he would let his pride get to him. Though it's not a complete loss as even with this failure one of my objectives was fulfilled."
"Copy, but besides that, I was capable of grabbing a hard drive located in the QAD's case. I assumed it may hold information on how to recreate the device."
All For One was quiet for a moment, "Did you? Hmm, seems my choice to hire you was a sound one. Well, congratulations are in order. I do have to ask though, would you be willing to work alongside the League in a more…permanent status?"
"No, I'm a mercenary, sir, and while I'm grateful you'd think I have a place in your organization I have to keep myself freelance. I don't just work for villains."
"A disappointing but respectable answer. Head for these coordinates, a few handlers of mine will take the hard drive off you and give you the rest of your fee." with that All For One cut the line.
Hunk folded up the antenna and shut the crate, not having a use for the jammer anymore. He turned and sat down in the driver seat, turned on the dinghy, and set sail for the coordinates.
Another job was completed. That was all that mattered.
That's another one-shot in the library. When I originally thought up the idea of this I had, at the time, recently completed the Resident Evil 4 remake which was awesome and I also played The Mercenaries mode and got all S's on Hunk. I also played Resident Evil 2 Remake: The Fourth Survivor mode and the best time I got on that was 9 minutes and 8 Seconds. For this one-shot I played it again and I got nowhere near that time mostly cuz I hadn't played Resident Evil 2 in close to a year now anyway I liked the character and how he was portrayed so I tried to keep that as much as possible so I hope I was able to capture the original as much as possible. Though because this is MHA I did add a quirk to Hunk which I'm sure some may notice rather easily.
Also because I'm feeling nice I'm going to add the original test scenes that I used for this particular one-shot the others will probably stay in the document forever and never be unleashed upon.
If you liked my idea of Hunk being in MHA please tell me what you thought if there were any problems with it or just anything in general.
I-Island (Wolfram)
Wolfram stared at the phone in his hand contemplating the news. All Might had arrived on I-Island, while he was confident he and his crew could still pull this off it was going to be difficult if All Might were to get free of the security restraints.
Wolfram scoffed at the thought, "Yeah right, he won't be capable of even moving his arms."
Wolfram had other things to worry about, one of those being his 'boss' David Shield. He really believed he'd hired actors to play the role of villains and not actual villains so Wolfram and his crew had to make certain decisions they usually wouldn't.
That wouldn't be a problem once the operation began but Shield had been requesting progress reports since they made it to the island. Wolfram had put most of those on the temporary member of his crew as he'd shown competency in military tact.
AFO had wanted them to get the quirk enhancer headset he'd gained intelligence on through an unknown source so he put a member of League on this as well, HUNK…god that name still put a chill down his spine. Almost every mercenary or villain in mercenary circles has heard of the legendary figure, Mr. Death, the Grim Reaper.
Wolfram knew the HUNK with them today wasn't the original, couldn't be, but the fact this guy took on the man's name meant he believed he could live up to that legend. Honestly, he was surprised at how far the guy went in his outfit, he even had the goddamn wrist blade!
The way HUNK spoke to them was also very close to how the real HUNK had spoken from those recovered tapes and helmet cams. Wolfram remembered the looks from his crew when they saw him for the first time, it was like worshipers were finally seeing Christ.
Seeing that gas mask and knowing the legend behind made it very different to be in his presence. Wolfram knew it wasn't the actual HUNK but something about the presence of the man made him wonder if that was true or not.
Wolfram shook his head now wasn't the time to be wondering if a true legend was in their midst or not. He had a job to do.
I-Island (The Crash)
HUNK dragged himself out of the wrecked helicopter, for someone who tried not to kill anyone All Might sure didn't seem all too worried about the other passengers in the helicopter he'd just vivisected to get to David Shield.
HUNK turned his head to a noise and found Wolfram lacking his mask placing the headset they came for on his head. HUNK attempted to stand but fell thanks to a piece of rebar in his leg, the sound of him falling must have caught Wolfram's attention because he spoke up, "Heh, you're alive too huh? Can't say the same for the other two."
"What are you doing?" HUNK spoke trying to position himself in a sitting position. Wolfram turned his head toward him.
"Getting payback," and with that he pressed a button on the headset. The headset hummed to life as the small prods began glowing, Wolfram grunted but other than that he seemed fine, besides the purple glowing eyes.
"The mission was to get the headset," HUNK attempted to remind Wolfram but he just scoffed.
"Missions changed, I'm killing All Might and then using Shield to make more," HUNK watched as Wolfram placed his hand on the wall and it began churning with more metal fusing around him before he disappeared into the mass of metal and wires.
HUNK looked back at the case on the ground and caught a glimpse of blue. Quickly HUNK pulled the rebar out with a grunt and stood up blood gushed from the wound before it abruptly stopped and HUNK walked over to the case as if he hadn't just been impaled in the leg.
He looked down at the case and saw a blueprint and research notes. HUNK turned back toward the mess of metal and wire and back to the case, it'd have to do.
HUNK closed the case and rushed down to the edge of the crash sight. They'd landed on the roof and HUNK had a suspicion he wasn't going to be capable of getting down through the stairwell. A crash from behind him and several shouts of alarm confirmed his suspicion.
HUNK looked around for something that could possibly get him out of this and a sudden idea came to him. The gas mask turned to a flowing piece of the wire coming from a lower floor and an idea came to his mind. HUNK quickly secured the case to his back and bent his legs in preparation for a jump.
An explosion behind him signaled the beginning of another run.
I-Island (Plant Factory)
"Stop right there villain!" Some hero shouted while putting his hand up.
HUNK glanced behind the hero to see a few others running closer. Another glance down from the small bridge toward the bottom of the plant factory. An idea came to his mind and HUNK pulled up the MUP.
HUNK fired twice at the hero and hit the hero's knees. The hero falls forward and screams in pain while HUNK continues running toward the now-crippled hero. Once he reached the hero he shot at the other heroes who were getting closer so he could have more time. He did get a good shot off on one which caused them to fall and shocked the other heroes.
HUNK wasted no time and grabbed the hero by the arms and hoisted him up. HUNK held them close with them facing away before he jumped off the raptor with the hero beneath him. The hero screamed on the way down but was cut off by the landing.
HUNK grunted as the dampened force of the impact still caused his body to rattle. He shook his head and stood up, the hero groaned weekly so HUNK stomped on his head as he walked past putting the hero out of his misery.
HUNK jogged toward the central elevator and took the butt of the CQBR to the glass shattering it in the first hit. He looked down the elevator shaft the dark abyss stared back at him, HUNK took a quick look about the shaft and found the only way down would be the counterweight wires for the elevator.
