As the rain poured, the group of friends were all sitting around a circular table, inside a wooden shack; placed only during the tournament time. They heard the piano being played for entertainment and the voices of many chatting about the tournament so far.

"Hey, you know what I realized?" Krillin spoke out. "Master Roshi's not here." He turned his head left to right wondering where the old hermit was even at.

"Where the heck did he run off to?"

Everyone peered around the cabin trying to locate the elder, but nobody could find him. "For a second I thought that was him." Bulma pointed out another competitor who has made it to the semi-round: Jackie Chun.

Makarov stared at the man and thought to himself, 'Hm I wonder.' He stared at Jackie Chun suspiciously.

"I gotta say you two were pretty impressive in your matches," Cana said to Krillin and Natsu.

Krillin scratched his head in embarrassment while Natsu gave a toothy grin. "Well what can I say we're pretty awesome, I bet nobody could beat us!" Natsu proclaimed.

"Someone's full of themselves," Mira said. Lisanna looks at her sister and says, "Well, a little bit of confidence never hurts."

Erza crosses her arms and tells them, "While it's good to be confident you shouldn't get too cocky. After all even if one of you gets to the finals that Jackie Chun guy won't be easy to deal with."

"I'll say I'm shaking just thinking about fighting him," Krillin says.

"I just wish it would stop raining, I can barely wait!" Goku said hardly keeping himself in his seat.

As they continue to talk the doors open to reveal what looks like Giran in a trench coat. The place gets quiet as he makes his way to the bar. "Milk," he tells the bartender who brings out a large glass and fills it with milk.

A few of the Orin temple monks make a few snark remarks about Giran who retaliates by sweeping their legs with his tail. After beating the monks Yamcha and Goku stand up to Giran but are stopped by Jackie Chun.

"That's enough!" Jackie shouted to them. "If you two go through the other now you'll be disqualified from the tournament."

The three of them back down for now, "We'll settle this in the ring pipsqueak." Giran told Goku. Goku glares at Giran with a smile excited to fight him.

"Alright, alright, alright yeah!" Ken calls to the crowd. "And now introducing for the second time, the last quarter-finalists Son Goku and Monster Beast Giran.

Giran walks up to the ring he then notices the little boy is missing. He wasn't the only one to notice, the others also realized he wasn't around.

"Goku?!" They each took a turn calling him.

"Where is he? He knows his match is about to start." Krillin said.

"If contestant Son Goku doesn't show up in two minutes he will be disqualified," Ken said loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Ha, I bet the kid was too scared to try and face me," Giran said smugly.

Natsu and Yamcha went to scout the outside areas since they couldn't locate him inside. It only took a few seconds for Natsu to capture his friend's scent. "I smell somewhere around here!" He calls out pulling on Yamcha's arm.

"The others raced to the scene where Nam stood staring at the napping boy. Krillin, Yamcha, and Natsu tripped over their own feet and Jackie Chun flew right over their heads incredulously.

"What are you doing Goku? WAKE UP YOU IDIOT!" Krillin screams in his friend's face.

Goku rubbed his eyes awake, "Oh hey guys, what are you all doing?"

"What are YOU doing? You have a match to get to!" Yamcha told him.

"Oh, sorry about that. The sun and cool breeze made me sleepy." Goku explained. His friends just stared at him as if they couldn't believe him.

Ken came to his view, quickly grabbing his arm and racing back to the audience. He couldn't believe the boy was sleeping!

"Well he's back," He announced wiping his face in nervousness. "Certain circumstances prevented him from hearing the announcement."

Goku now much more awake told everyone, "I was taking a nap!" Seeing the boy wasn't kidding caused everyone to fall with their feet facing the sky.

"Are you mocking me brat!" Giran glared at the boy.

"Alright, without further ado...LET MATCH FOUR BEGIN!"

Goku begins stretching getting ready to fight. Giran holds out his fist, "Hey, take a look at this!"

Goku walks towards him wondering what he has. He then gets sucker punched by his tail and knocked into the arena wall.

"Oh, my, my! Contestant Giran's landed an unexpected blow! It was quite effective!" Ken shouts out. "This happened only a moment after the match had begun!

"I've won!" Giran said or so he thought.

Goku jumps back to his feet like nothing happened. "Unbelievable! He hit the wall hard enough to break it, yet contestant Goku is taking it like nothing happened!" Ken spoke.

"It ain't like nothing happened! That hurt a little bit!" Goku piped up. "Alright." Goku charges at Giran and the two exchange fists but Goku can land a punch to Giran's gut stunning the beast.

Goku then proceeded to flip over Giran and throw him outside the ring by the tail. "What incredible power! Contestant Goku, with his little body, has flung contestant Giran out of the ring!" Ken soured.

Though it seemed like Goku won Giran flapped his wings to prevent him from falling out. "I don't lose by falling out of the ring!" Giran told Goku.

As Giran lands back on the ring Goku prepares to launch at him again, Giran smirks and then releases a strange purple substance from his mouth that constricts Goku.

"You're caught in my Merry-go-Round Gum! Giran told the boy. Goku tries to break out of the gum but is unable to. "It's useless, no matter how much you struggle. You'll never need from my Merry-Go-Round Gum!"

Giran approached Goku cracking his knuckles as he prepared to smack Goku around. He then proceeded to pick him up and launch him a far distance.

"Goku!" Yamcha and Natsu yelled out to him.

"That's it! It's over now!" Krillin whimpered. The rest of their friends stared in shock at Goku getting thrown out.

As Goku continued to descend he had an idea, "FLYING NIMBUS! HELP!" He yelled. Before Goku hit the ground, the Nimbus cloud caught him and began flying him back to the arena. "I'm saved! Thanks, Nimbus! It's been a long time, so I was worried you wouldn't come!"

Everyone in the crowd watched as Goku was brought back on a flying cloud. "What's this, what's this?" Giran stuttered in disbelief. The three young fighters cheered at Goku's reentry. Giran turned to the announcer, "Hey, can he do that?! The use of implements is against the rules, isn't it?!"

"What about you? You flew through the air, didn't you?" Goku tried to retort. "And what about this whatever it's called gum?

"I flew on my own!" Giran said back. "The Merry-Go-Round Gum is something I spit out of my body!

After talking with the head priest of the tournament, Ken relayed that Goku was allowed a special exception for the use of the unusual cloud. However, it will be allowed once, if Goku uses it again he will lose.

Seeing his opportunity Giran walks towards Goku to land a devastating blow on him. Goku continued to struggle against the binding gum. "This is the end for you! I present you with my greatest punch!" Giran said. He then threw his punch.

Everyone stared in worry at the disappearance of the young boy, and that worry turned into shock when they saw Goku hanging off of Giran's arm...by a tail.

"My tail! My tail grew back again!" Goku said in excitement. While everyone was shocked by the boy's tail, our good old Dragon Ball hunting group looked in fear as they knew what that meant.

"I can't win unless I get untangled from this, huh?" Goku said before he stretched the gum with all his strength. It took a while but he was able to free himself. "Ah, I'm untangled! It feels better having a tail after all, huh?"

Regaining some balance Goku tests his strength on the arena wall and breaks through it, the test of strength shocks Giran completely. "All right! I'm in good shape, good shape!" Goku turned to Giran to finish the fight, only to find him holding a white flag in defeat.

"Oh, my! Contestant Son has won!" Ken announced. "Even so, what a complete surprise, finding out that he has a tail!"

"I'll say, that guy keeps getting weirder," Elfman says.

"I thought he was missing something, he did have a tail when I met him," Gray remarked.

"It does make him look kind of funny," Levy said.

"Maybe it's best if we don't tell them," Puar whispers to Oolong and Bulma. The two nod in agreement.

"Wh...when's the next f-full moon?" Bulma asks.

"Wh-who knows..." Oolong squeaks out.

"It was true of contestant Krillin from the first match," Ken says. "What on earth is the strength of these three who wear the same Circle turtle mark on their uniforms? And so now before the semifinals begin, we are joined by Contestant Krillin, and we would like to have an interview with these three."

Krillin turns to Goku and asks, "So, you have a tail, then?"

"Mm-hmm. It got pulled off once but I guess it grew back out, huh?" Goku told him.

"Congratulations to the three of you on reaching the semifinals." Ken started. "And despite being so small you're absolutely amazing! Contestant Krillin, as I recall, was 13 years old. How about the two of you?" Ken asks Goku and Natsu.

They both stare at the microphone for a second, "What's this? Are you giving it to me?" Natsu asks.

"That's a mic dummy!" Krillin remarked. "It's a device that makes your voice louder." The crowd got a laugh out of that. "Don't embarrass us! All you two have to do is answer the question!"

"Ah, my age! Let's see... 9, 10, 11, 12... Got it! I'm twelve years old!" Goku answered.

"Me too!" Natsu says.

"But Goku, I remember you saying you were fourteen, didn't you?" Krillin asked.

"Earlier, the Old-timer was teaching us math, right? There, twelve comes after eleven. I'd thought that fourteen came after eleven!" Goku admitted.

"Wow, I didn't think you two were younger than I was," Krillin said.

"But Krillin, your height is still lower than ours!" Goku chuckled.

"He's right about that!" Natsu snickers.

"The younger ones are contestants Natsu and Goku, then?" Ken speculated. "By the way, about that tail of yours-- is it a real tail?"

"Yeah, about that-- it's strange that it would suddenly grow out!" Krillin started. "Besides, I've never even heard of a human who had a tail!"

"It's a real tail, I tell you. How about I show you?" Goku said before pulling his pants down and showing the crowd. "You see? Yeah?" More laughter ensued from the crowd before Goku was told to pull his pants back up.

"Incidentally, the three of you are wearing the same uniform. Exactly which Dojo did you learn your fighting technique from?" Ken asked.

"There wasn't any Dojo in particular. The one who trained us was Master Roshi." Krillin answered.

"W-What's this?! THE Master Roshi?!" Ken said in shock, the crowd also gasped. "Y-You were trained by Master Roshi, the one they call the god of martial arts?"

"Yes. He said he was no longer taking any pupils, but he made a special exception." Krillin answered.

"Incredible absolutely incredible!" Ken announced. "To think that these youngsters received their training from Master Roshi! By the way, contestant Natsu in your match with Nam you used a type of fire magic, is that correct?"

"Yeah! It's my Dragon Slayer magic!" Natsu answered. "A dragon named Igneel taught it to me!"

A few murmurs traveled through the crowd, "Amazing isn't it folks it seems the youngster has a powerful form of lost magic, not only that he was taught by a dragon!" Ken announced. "At last the semifinals! Contestant Krillin, what do you think of your opponent, Contestant Jackie?"

"He is, indeed, a powerful challenger," Krillin answered

"Still, if you're a pupil of Master Roshi, then he doesn't pose any problem for you, does he?" Ken asked.

"Y-Yee, I suppose you're right. My opponent is an elderly man, and all." He answered.

"Contestant Jackie Chun, please come forward!" Ken called out. Jackie stepped out to the ring giving a small wave. "Contestant Jackie has arrived! Now then, with no further ado... let the match beg--"

"What's this? You're not going to interview me?" Jackie interrupted. Before Ken could answer Jackie took the mic out of Ken's hand. And decided to put on a little song and dance which Goku decided to join in.

"Thank you, thank you!" Jackie said before giving Ken back the mic. The crowd was full of stunned silence.

"Well... anyway, MATCH 5 BEGIN!" Ken shouted.

I don't know why it took me so long to finish this chapter but here ya go.

Rest in peace Akira Toriyama, my first exposure to to Dragon Ball was GT on Nicktoons during the Shadow Dragons arc. I didn't get into the anime until I was in 4th and watched Kai, and I didn't get fully into the anime until I saw Super and Kai TFC on Toonami.

I'm honestly glad I got into Dragon Ball and still keep up with Super's manga.
