Author's Note: Welp, here's a second fic for White Day, basically I just made counterpart stories to my Valentine's Day fics. This one obviously being an obligatory White Day counterpart to my obligatory Valentine's Day fic. So yeah, nothing much new, just a reverse of what I did for that fic.

March 11th

While Shinji did not necessarily like shopping, he did not dislike it. It was not as though he had much better to do, and besides he needed to ensure he went shopping with Misato so as to make sure she did not buy only instant meals. His older roommate was known for being able to subsist on only instant meals that one only needed to reheat, regardless of the fact that the meals she made with them were often less than good. So Shinji took it upon himself to ensure she also got other groceries for actual meals, especially since he himself would most likely be the one making those meals, he wanted to make sure he had ingredients he could use.

Though the downside of shopping with Misato is that she also liked to browse, which Shinji sometimes found vexing since it delayed them from leaving. The brunette boy followed her as she decided to wander so as to not lose her in the convenience store.

"Hmm, looks like they've started stocking for White Day." The purple haired woman said as she pointed out the section of White Day chocolates down one of the aisles. Her ward followed her finger as she pointed to them.

"Oh, did you want to get any chocolate Misato?" He questioned casually, not thinking much about it.

"Hmm, no I wasn't going to get any for myself; besides it is customary for the men to get chocolate for the women," She explained before continuing with a wink, "I certainly wouldn't mind if you got me some chocolates Shinji."

"Huh? Oh, w-well I mean I could if you wanted some." He replied with a small amount of timidness. The older woman crossed her arms with a pout.

"Well it doesn't mean as much when they have to ask you to get it for them." His roommate said before cracking an eye open and getting a smirk, "Besides, aren't there two girls you should get chocolate for first, hmm?"

"Uh well…" Shinji couldn't help but stutter as she knew who she was referring too, especially since he had been on the receiving end of her teasing after last month's Valentine's Day, when she found out both of his fellow Evangelion pilots, Rei and Asuka, had gotten him chocolate. What really made her tease him though, was the fact that they both got him honmei choco, which was supposed to be romantic chocolate. "I'm n-not really sure what to get them…"

He dipped his head a little, he wasn't sure what to give in return to the girls. Both Rei and Asuka didn't seem to know what the chocolates meant from what he's seen, with his redhead roommate saying Misato was involved in her getting him chocolates make him question if the older woman purposefully set him up. As such, he was unsure of how to reciprocate, just that he wanted to do something of equal value but didn't want to send any mixed signals either.

"Jeez you don't have to look so glum about it." The purple haired woman complained, "Just get them some nice chocolate or some other gift if you really want too."

The boy couldn't help but flush a bit at the idea, though it also made him anxious as he wouldn't even know what to get them for gifts.

"I just… can't decide or think what to get, and do they really all have to be in heart shaped boxes?" He couldn't help but feel a little ashamed at being so indecisive over such a choice. While it did not seem that serious a problem, it still made him anxious.

"Well, it's just easier to represent the themes of the day with a heart, not to mention it's more marketable to those couples who want to make sweet gestures." She explained.

"Still… I don't know if I want to get them something in a heart box, but I also don't know what else I'd get." His internal struggle was visible to see, the sight of her ward wallowing in indecision made the older woman huff.

"Well, why don't you try not listening to your head, and try listening to your own heart?" Misato suggested to him in a mature tone.

"What does that even mean, Miss Misato?" While it did sound wise, the character of the person telling him it made him question if they even understood it or if she was just trying to spout something profound. She must've known his query was more so to question her since she pulled a sour face.

"It means that you need to stop worrying so much with all this thinking about what ifs and what to do and just do. Listen to your impulses and let your actions dictate what to do. You can't just let other people decide everything for you, and sometimes if you can't decide, then it's better to have your own actions choose for you then to have inaction do so." Misato elucidated as she crossed her arms, and fixed her ward with one of her more looks that meant she was serious.

"Just do…" Shinji repeated as he looked back at the store's White Day wares.

"Yeah, no overthinking, just choose something." His older roommate encouraged.

The brunette looked at all the options of chocolate and tried to keep himself from thinking too much as he looked over what to pick, before then deciding to grab two blue boxes of the same chocolate he had received almost a month ago and had enjoyed.

His face heated up considering that he did indeed know the meaning of the chocolate, but nonetheless he still held onto them with intent to buy.

"Oh? Honmei Choco hmmm?" Misato inquired as she hid her mischievous smile behind a few fingers.

"I- yeah, so what. I just did what you said. Besides t-they gave some to me a-and they didn't mean it r-romantically or anything, so why can't I do the same?" Shinji argued with a blush on his face as he held the two boxes.

"You're sure they didn't mean it romantically, hmm?" She teased further.

'O-of course not, Asuka even said as much." He protested.

"And Rei? She got you Honmei Choco too, right?" The drunkard couldn't help herself but to poke fun at her ward, 'He's too easy.'

"A-Ayanami didn't seem like she knew much about Valentine's Day, s-she probably didn't realize it." The brown-haired boy started to get frustrated, "Neither of them meant it that way, Miss Misato. They were just being friends."

"Okay, okay. Such a downer, but you can give it to them as just friends then if that's what you want. White Day is about doing something nice for the women in your life. Though who knows, it might disappoint them to only be 'from a friend'. Maybe they'll want more…" Misato told him with a wink.

"That sounds unlikely, Asuka's probably just going to call me a pervert and an idiot, like usual." He lamented.

"Mm, she probably will," She agreed before continuing, "But she would probably get upset if you didn't get her anything."

"Would she really be upset? I don't know why she would…" His question made Misato deadpan and huff.

"Well, Rei would appreciate it at least, I think." The purple-haired woman placated.

"I'm not sure if Ayanami would really care about this…" The boy retorted to his guardian.

"Ugh, you can't just keep letting the possibility of something bad keep you doubting everything and everyone, Shinji." Misato sighed with some frustration.

Her ward didn't say anything in response, allowing her to continue.

"I mean, they both gave you something for Valentine's. Even if Asuka needed a push and Rei doesn't quite get it all, they still tried, so they must care for you more than you think…" She then sighed as she then began to walk off, "Anyways, I'm done shopping, so let go pay and get out of here."

'I doubt it…' Shinji thought to himself as he followed her while tucking the chocolates under his arm.

His eyes occasionally drifted to the boxes while his mind turned toward the intended recipients. His cheeks flaring red when he considered that he would be delivering them by hand, during school time. The boy tried to find solace from the foreseeable embarrassment by ignoring that part, but still he felt spikes of anxiety in his chest, especially when picturing their reactions; his mind leaning towards the more negative spectrum when imagining them. All he could do was sigh as he yearned to drown out his thoughts with music from his SDAT player.

March 14th: White Day

Despite trying to drown out the surroundings of his last class period and forget the world, he could still feel his heart beating. He had been high strung all day. The school day itself had just been like it had been on Valentine's Day a month prior, couples being more affectionate to each other, the lunch period having been a prime time for this affection to be made public, only this day there were no special history lessons about treaties and the wars of the early 2000s. That, and unlike on that day a month ago, he was now dreadfully nervous.

As for the first time, he actually had chocolates to give on White Day. He never did so in the past, not really. He wasn't close enough to anybody, much less girls, in his old schools to warrant getting them anything. And he was never pressured into doing so, as again, he was not close to anybody to make him feel the need to do so. Even his aunt and uncle whom he lived with did not show deep interest in his affairs to encourage him to do so, preferring to stay as uninvolved in his life as they could while still having to legally be his guardians.

While he did not care in the past and actually rather preferred not feeling pressured to get things for people, it certainly proved to be rather disadvantageous, especially now. His lack of experience with White Day traditions made him apprehensive about having to really partake in them this time around, so much so that his trusty SDAT was proving ineffective at providing him with asylum from his worries.

He just sighed and turned off the player, but still kept the earbuds in, so that others would think he was still listening to his music and be less inclined to bother him for the remainder of their class, which was just a little more than ten minutes. Though that only really worked with his classmates,

'If only it still worked on Touji and Kensuke…' He couldn't help but think with a sigh, as his friends felt it was their duty to pester him regardless of if he was pretending to listen to his music or not.

"Man Shinji, you really are so lucky. You get two girls to choose from today, not to mention Miss Misato." Kensuke bemoaned with envy, "It's so unfair."

In response, Shinji just frowned but otherwise didn't acknowledge the bespectacled teen, knowing that responding would just rope him further into conversation.

"Ugh, ya still moanin' on about dat stuff Kensuke?" Touji spoke up as he sat back in his seat with his arms crossed, "Can't ya give it a rest already?"

"How can I? It's White Day and he gets two girls he could reciprocate to. Some guys really do just get all the luck." The glasses wearing boy lamented with a sag.

"Just consida yerself lucky dat you didn't hafta waste so much yen on some candy, Ken." The athletic boy said in an attempt to mollify the other teen.

"Hmph, as if you're one to talk, Touji." Kensuke muttered to his friend.

"Eh? What're ya yappin' about?" The darker boy sat up a bit.

"As if you didn't buy something for the Class rep and give it to her during lunch when you thought no one was looking." It was an accusation Shinji knew was true, as he also noticed it happen during lunch, it also explained why the mentioned Class Representative seemed rather happy the rest of the day.

Even now Shinji took a glance from the corner of his eye to where their Class Representative, Hikari, sat and could see a clear radiant smile on her face. It was obvious to anyone who knew who the girl had feelings for, what must've happened.

"I- dat was jus- jus' me repayin' her for her kindness on Valentine's, dats all." Touji stuttered, his dark cheeks now had a blush on them.

"Yeah right, you're just refusing to admit you're besotted with her." Kensuke shook his head at his friend's denial.

"I mean, does it have to be romantic if you give somebody something? Can't it just be as friends?" Shinji stated in defense, though in truth it wasn't on behalf of Touji.

"Y-yeah, what Shinji said, it was jus' as friends." Came the quick agreement from the athletic teen at his friend's inquiry.

"I mean, I guess, though honestly isn't that kind of pathetic? Just settling for friendship?" The bespeckled boy asked.

"Well why does it need to be more than that?" He took out his earbuds and turned to them as he responded.

"It doesn' hafta I suppose." Touji again agreed though this time more thoughtfully.

"Wait, does this mean you did get something to give to one of the girls?" Kensuke questioned as he adjusted his glasses with narrowed eyes.

'Of course that's what he focuses on…' Shinji just sighed but reached in his bag and took out one of the boxes he had bought and brought with him.

"He did!" The bespectacled exclaimed at the sight of the box.

"He got Honmei Choco too." Their athletic friend added.

"W-well, they got it for me, even though they didn't mean it, so I figured I should do the same." The blue-eyed Evangelion pilot was quick to explain even as he felt his cheeks heat up.

"Of course you'd do that Shinji." Kensuke shook his head with some disappointment, "Though shouldn't you deliver it before class ends?"

"Yeah but…" Shinji trailed off somewhat nervously.

"Eh, you don't hafta be so nervous Shinji, it's not like Ayanami is gonna get angry or anythin' at you gettin' her some chocolates, she might even be happy bout' it." Touji tried to assuage his friend's fears.

"Ayanami? I thought he got it for Soryu." The glasses wearing teen interjected.

"Huh? Why on earth woulds he wanna do dat?" The black-haired boy stared at his other friend with incredulity.

"Well I mean, if it was me that's what I'd do." Touji just gaped at the answer.

"Honestly d'ere really is sumthin' wrong with yous, Ken" The darker teen said before turning to Shinji, "Tell me dat he isn't right."

"I mean this one is for Asuka." Shinji replied before standing up while grasping the box, "I really should go give it to her…" 'Before I lose my courage…'

He moved before his friends could respond and walked towards his redheaded girl's desk. Thankfully it wasn't that far from his own, though that didn't mean he didn't receive attention from some of the other students. He and the other two Evangelion pilots were generally always a sight of some interest that the other student always paid attention to whenever they did something. Most didn't go the length to actually interact with them, but still they observed them, as it always made for interesting school gossip to talk about something that happened with one of the famous Evangelion pilots.

Asuka herself was very popular, among both girls and boys. A lot of the girls who weren't jealous of her, wished to be as attractive and or unique as the redhead. Meanwhile a lot of the boy had some form of crush on her generally due to her looks or in some cases, her domineering attitude. The evidence of the male students' infatuation with her was on display as she received many little tokens and boxes of candy for White Day from them.

The girl was sorting out these 'gifts' on her desk, having divided it into two sections. The left side was where all the little trinket gifts she received would go to be thrown away, and the right side was where all the candy she received would go for her to give away to any of the other girls she knew. She was almost tempted to pocket some of the chocolates, but most of them were not that good quality, and weren't really worth it to eat. The pilot did have a diet to worry about and ruining it with a bunch of cheap sugar was not something she wanted.

However she then became aware of another presence near her and looked to see her roommate standing at her desk with a box in his hands.

"... don't tell me you got me something too." Asuka said rhetorically as she looked at the boy.

"Um, yeah, I did." Shinji confirmed as he offered the box of chocolate to her.

She snatched the box from his hands and looked at it appraisingly, noting that at the very least, it was some rather good quality chocolates. Her blue eyes then turned back to look at him.

"At least it's not some cheap trash…" The redhead acknowledged before continuing, "You aren't stupid enough to think I'm interested in you, right? Just because you gave me some chocolates doesn't even make me inclined to hug you, let alone anything more."

"... yeah I know, you told me last month it wasn't like that," He explained as he looked away from her, "neither is this, it's just… as friends."

"Hmph, as long as you understand then whatever." Asuka huffed.

"You don't have to keep it if you don't want to, it was just something nice I wanted to do for you." Shinji sighed, "I'll see you after class, Asuka."

The brunette boy turned to go back to his desk, the German girl looked at him from the corner of her eye as he did before discreetly slipping the box he gave her into her own bag before returning to sort the rest of the stuff she had been given that day.

Returning back to his desk was made somewhat agonizing to him with the eyes from some other classmates watching, but he just clenched his fist and returned to his own desk where his friends were waiting.

"Well it could've gone worse." Kensuke consoled as he watched his friend.

"Yeah, I'm surprised da she-devil didn' bite yer off more, dat was rather tame compared ta how she usually is." Touji added.

"You're right, I probably caught her in a good mood." Shinji agreed with another sigh, before then reaching back into his bag and pulling out another box.

"Eh? Another one?!" The bespectacled boy was caught off guard by his friend's action.

"Please don't tell me ya got two boxes for dat devil woman." Their athletic friend pleaded.

"No, this one isn't for Asuka, it's… for Ayanami." The blue-eyed teen explained.

"Oh, so you got one for the both of them, and you mean them both as just friends." Kensuke finished with a deadpan look and a disappointed headshake.

"Thank goodness, I couldn't handle it if both of yous were simpering over dat demon." The black-haired boy gave a sigh of relief.

The class bell then rang, causing the rest of the class to get out of their seats to leave.

"Eh class is over already?" Touji muttered as he got out of his seat.

"Well you should probably hurry and give it to Ayanami before she leaves, anyways, later Shinji." Kensuke told him as he slung his bag over his shoulder and made to leave.

"See ya Shinji" Touji said as he also made to depart.

Shinji meanwhile turned to look at the students who were leaving. He did notice Asuka going to join a group of her friends with an armful of chocolates that he saw on her desk. She seemed to be offering them to the others, he also noted that he didn't see his box in her hands, but he also didn't see her throw it away which he took as a good sign.

He then spotted a head of blue hair in the crowd and quickly made his way to it.

"Ayanami!" He called, prompting the girl with blue hair to stop.

"Ikari." Rei acknowledged as she turned towards him with her usual stoic demeanor, "Did you need something?"

"Uh y-yeah, I have something for you, h-here." Shinji offered the box of chocolates in his hands to her. The girl's red eyes widened slightly at it.

"This is like the one from Valentine's Day." She stated in an inquiring manner, prompting an unasked question.

"Y-yeah, it's White Day, it's basically another Valentine's Day, but this time the boys are the ones who give stuff to the girls." He clarified for her.

"I see… and you got this for me." She asked though both knew it was rhetorical as he already stated he was giving it to her.

"Yeah, I figured since you got chocolate for me, that I should get some for you." He held the box out for her to take, which she complied, grasping the box with her pale hands as she took it.

"... I have never eaten chocolate before." The blue haired girl told him as she looked at the box, somewhat surprising him.

"Oh, well hopefully you'll like it, but it's okay if you don't. I just wanted to get you something in return for last month." In truth he couldn't help but hope she would enjoy it, as he thought it would detract from the gift if she didn't.

"I will try it, and let you know what I think of it." She assured him, which did work to alleviate a bit of his concern. "... Thank you…"

"You're welcome, Ayanami." He gave her a small smile, feeling warm at her thanks, "I'll um, see you tomorrow at Nerv."

"Yes." Rei nodded her head in confirmation before then proceeding to leave the classroom like everyone else had.

Shinji followed suit and left the room a moment later.

'That wasn't so bad' he thought as he let out a breath now that the day was over and he had given his gifts to Asuka and Rei. He would most likely have to deal with some teasing from his friends and Misato, but he would endure that. 'At least I won't have to worry anymore about Valentine's or White Day for another eleven months…"

He had no idea of what to expect for next year.

Author's Note: Just felt like today was an excuse to make extra Valentine's fics. Basically just got to make the same thing twice, which I mean, eh so what. I'm not the first person to make the same thing twice. Anyways, if you want to, let me know what you think, deuces.
