White. That was all Twilight could see in the corners of her vision. Her eyes focused, locking in on the wolves before her. They weren't made of the wood she was normally used to, but rather blood, flesh, and bone. She gulped, veering her head towards the child near by. The girl was of a species unfamiliar, and yet, Twilight couldn't silence the suspicion she'd seen someone like her before. She couldn't have been older than eight or nine. The pair stood frozen, paralyzed under branches which extended from a lanky tree. The beasts bared their fangs, dripping with a hunger too long unsatiated. At any moment, they appeared ready to pounce, and then...They changed. Like clockwork, their personalities transformed. They lowered their ears, whimpering in contrition. Approaching the girl, she embraced them tenderly. They nuzzled her chin, returning her affection as they continued to whine. The Alicorn was nothing short of amazed.
"What!? How did she...!?"
The corners of light grew brighter. In a flash, the unknown world disappeared.
Amongst the stars of the astral plane, Luna watched on warily. A hollow void of anxiety welled up within, yet she was unsure as to why. Upon reaching the Milky Way's spiral, she discovered her answer. Hovering above Earth, a veil of shadows began consuming everything. Their energy possessed no conscience to speak of - only the impulse to propagate destruction. Were the shroud allowed to spread beyond its borders, all life would cease to exist.
"This is terrible! I must warn 'Tia right away!"
