Chapter 11 Go your own way
Yep sure as shit, there's two Espurrs hovering mid air right in front of me. At least they both looked just as shocked…
"Um, well this is… unexpected" Eclairisse was the first one to speak up, "ahem, well then it seems you two have more in common than I thought, Espurr are drawn to partners they feel have an energy that matches them, or in other words someone they feel they bond with." Ah, so that's what Espurr meant when she said I felt different, I was the one, I was her 'chosen trainer'.
"Now if you both would kindly put your Pokémon back into their balls, we can get started on today's lesson." Oh right, that's why I'm here.
"Now, both of you are here for the same reasons. You need to learn the basics, now usually I would be teaching at a much higher level but after seeing that Alex here was in this class I just had to get the position!" oh, so that's what this is about, she wants to study my stuff.
"Alright let's begin with writing…" and that's how it went Eclairisse started writing down characters on the chalkboard behind her, you'd think they would have replaced chalkboards like that with something more advanced. Anyways, she wrote down… 26 characters, "alright, so these are the basic characters you will need. Once you master these we'll move onto numbers" we both nod and she continues "So this one right here" she points to the first character "is A" wait a minute… I raise my hand "could you spell apple please Eclairisse?" she smiles at me "Certainly" and proceeds to spell out apple… its exactly the same as in English the characters are just different! Are you kidding me?! "Um! Eclarisse I just realized something!" she gives me a bit of look for interrupting her again "And what is that, Alex?" "I think I just need a translator or something because I think everything is spelled the same as I'm used to, its just the characters that are different" Now she seemed interested again, Emma seemed like she could care less.
"Alright then Alex, well if you can copy down these characters I'll continue instructing Emma here." Alright, I take my notebook and write down all the characters next to the corresponding letter.
I've been here for a couple of hours now; nice I just needed a translator I'm even able to help Emma out a bit when the letters start coming more naturally. Speaking of Emma, I got to talk with her more. Turns out she's been living on the streets for a while now, recently someone's taken her in, gave her a chance to get an education and a real chance at life. In a way we're kind of alike, cast out into the world only to get reeled in by the offer of a better life in the big city.
After getting some food from the cafeteria, now that I can actually understand what I'm getting it's a whole lot easier and went to sit down. The food here really isn't that bad, its flavorful and healthy which is more than I can say for the stuff I ate back home. I got some weird steak thing with a side of fruits, or what I think is fruit could be vegetables for all I know; Hope we do stuff like basic biology in class because I don't know shit. I'm sitting all by myself off to the side, never really was much of a loner but I doubt I could really relate to any of the kids around here. Me and Emma are both around the same age turns out, 17 and 18 is much older than the 13-year-olds that fill the lunchroom.
Speaking of Emma, she's heading this way… now she's sitting down across from me… huh? "Hey Emma, how's it going?" I say, she looks up at me with the same kind of stare Espurr gives me. "Hello Alex, I am fine. Todays lessons we're satisfactory" Alright then, she's fine that's nice. "So, do you have any plans? Our lessons are done so I'm planning on doing some training with Espurr I've been kind of slacking." She puts her hand on her chin and looks like she trying to think really hard and then, "I will be studying and preparing a meal before I sleep" Ya know its kinda mean to say I'm not surprised and assuming makes an ass out of you and me and all but… yeah that sounds on point. "Sounds like fun, so do you have anyone you're friends with here? Because I doubt I'm the most interesting person here" Actually yeah, why did she sit here? "Unfortunately, I am not acquainted with anyone at this academy besides you and our teacher Eclairisse." Ah, I'll say it again, we are in the same situation.
"Yeah, I don't really have any friends here either, I know a girl from Vaniville but she went back there a few days ago so I've been flying solo for a while now. Even then, I only knew her for about a week and a half… Damn has it really been that long since I left?" I mutter that last part to myself; I look over at Emma and she's paying close attention to everything I'm saying. She tilts her head a bit before saying, "I was under the impression that me and we're friends are we not?" huh? Wait, has she just… not had friends before? "Would you like to be friends?" I say, I receive a nod. "Well alright then, its good to have you as a friend Emma" I hold out my hand for her to shake and I swear I see her face change for the first time, plus side, into a smile. "yes, I am most happy as well" and she shakes my hand.
I made a new friend at the academy today; Alex is his name. He's nice, I mean, he is my friend. My schoolwork was simple, then I made my favorite meal, Slowpoke tail sandwiches they're yummy.I also feed Espurr his Pokemon food, then I hear the front door opening, and in walks the man who took me in and gave me an opportunity to live a good life, "Hello Mr. Looker welcome home" "Hello Emma, how was your first day?" "It was most satisfactory; I feel as though I will learn quite well under her care" "that's good, you meet anyone else your age?" "Yes, I met a boy in my class, he's my friend now" Looker gave me a wide smile "its good that you're meeting new people, what's the kids name?" I give him a smile "Oh, his name is Alex, he's nice."
"Yes, I think I've met him before."
Shabingus, Yeah so in the games Looker adopts Emma and she ends up working at a store that Lysandre owns I think i might take that angle or something like that... sorry if that's spoilers for any of you. Also to the comment that asked if Emma is gonna be a rival... Maybe, I'll have to see if i'm any good at writing a good rivalry that isn't just a abusive marriage
