Maple woke with a jolt. It was cold as hell. She realized she was on snow, it wasn't too deep, just newly sprinkled. Where is Maple? It was not winter in Canada? She stood up with her wings, wings... She took a moment to process it. What...She felt fur and looked down at her feet, now claws. She tried to look down at her chest where she felt more fun than anywhere else. There was a mane that was golden orange in coloration, unlike the rest of her fur which was black. She was short, almost half her usual height. She knew what she was, a golden-crowned flying fox, her favorite bat. She was excited at first but then the realization hit. How did she get here and like this, and if she has to stay here, why is she not in the Philippines? It was now she noticed the weight on her back, she turned around and saw a Flying fox bat lying on her back, sleeping. It was the color of the snow around it. The pup reminded her of her 12 year old sister who was 6 years younger than her. She dug deep for a comforting memory with her in this colder weather and found memories that she didn't remember doing but remembered happening. When Maple was captured, when she was put in a rehabilitation place, she discovered the younger flying fox that was half the size of her and that it was her bat sister.

'So... Sweet' She accidentally muttered out loud, causing the pup to stir.

'Where am i-?' She paused and stared at me, then her body. 'AHHHH- Where am i! WHAT am I? WHO ARE YOU!'

Wait, she recognized that voice anywhere...Kep!

'Kep! You're here too!'

'HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME-. Maple...?' She muttered after hearing my voice.

'Yes! Yes! I don't know where we are, but we are golden-crowned flying foxes! But not in the Philippines... But we'll-' she was interrupted by Kep

'You're mumbling again... Calm down! First let's figure out food, then you can geek out.' Kep

' Hah, ha... You're right. Well, there are plenty of leaves here and this species can eat leaves, insects, nectar, flower petals, seeds and fruit, so we are set!'

'Don't get too excited, Sis, we have absolutely no idea where we are right now... And from what you said we are not supposed to be here.' Kep climbed down her back onto the cold ground and winced.

' Ok, well when I dug deep for some memories, I found bat ones including the real ones...So maybe that can explain?' Maple asked, flying up to a nearby branch. 'That also explains why I know how to fly'

Kep paused a minute and then moved up and flew to her, she was surprisingly able to fly too.

' Yeah, that explains it. I just hope this is not permanent...Maybe we can find some bats to help us? But I doubt they would with our size-' she paused and looked at Maple; she was eating the leaves in the tree. 'Oh, come on!'

'What? I was hungry!' I retorted with a bunch of leaves in my mouth, chewing. Kep sighed.

'I'm hungry too... Come on, move over.' she muttered. Maple moved over and she started munching down too. She flew to the top of the tree where all the best leaves were from the information of her memories. It was evening when they stopped. Maple heard voices above and looked up. Bats, two.

'Kep, some bats, up there!" she shouted hoping Kep would hear her from her spot.

'Oh! They are coming here!' Kep shouted back, flying to Maple spot.

The bats came closer to them, allowing them to see what color they were. One, a male, was blue with slightly dark orange hair on top and chest fur. Then a tan brown female with blonde hair and brown chest fur. They then stopped, stared, and started flying back and around. Maple could hear some of what they were saying.

'Marina! I think...It's them, No... BIGGER!' the male one turned to the female. Marina? Where have I heard this before

'I know Shade! And they've noticed us! These are even bigger than Goth and Throbb! Hurry, fly!' the female one, assumingly marina, started, flying away. Goth, Throbb? Wait, NO! We must be in the book Silverwing!

'WAIT!' Kep shouted, taking off after them and finding her following. They were catching up, no matter how many maneuvers they did. Suddenly, when Kep was close; she barreled into the two smaller bats. They were falling, fast. Maple dived down after them and grabbed Kep with her jaws, tightly clamped on her neck fur. She slowed their descent. The bats struggled in their wings.

'Kep! Did you really have to do that!' hse growled at her sister
