Hey everyone, Toontastic here, and let me say it's been a while since I've done a Pirate Legends chapter. I'm glad you all have been patient because I've been busy lately, and I've finally found time to finish the chapter, so I hope you all enjoy it.
The beginning of an adventure.
Micheal: "Yep, you're a Ruin user." He declared.
Kenneth: "Can you please explain what a Ruin user is? I'm confused here. I've only recently heard about what a Devil fruit is, and now you're telling me that I'm some Ruin user?" He asked hysterically.
Micheal: "Mmmhm, but I've only heard about what they're called; I don't know the exact details about their capabilities. He stated."
Kenneth: "How do you know what they're called and nothing about their capabilities?!" He yelled comically.
Micheal: "I just heard about it from one of my associates about the kind of tattoo they have and that it's in the shape of a ruin mark. Sorry, Keith, that's all I know about them." He quickly answered.
Kenneth sighed in defeat and gave him a nod.
Micheal: "But you might be able to get more information about ruin users in the Grand Line." He suggested.
Kenneth decided to keep that in mind, but for now, he headed back to the kitchen with Micheal behind him. When they reached the kitchen, he saw Luffy and Zoro about to wrap up their conversation while Matthew and the others just listened to their conversation.
Zoro: "Just…?" He said as his eyes shot wide; hearing Luffy's answer, he pointed at Luffy and Matthew and then pointed back to himself.
Luffy: "Yep, it's just us." He stated.
But he then realized Kenneth had come into the kitchen.
Luffy: "On second thought, Hey Kenneth, did you decide to join my crew? You said you'd think about it before we leave, so do you wanna join my crew now, Kenne?" He asked.
Kenneth: "(He doesn't know when to quit, does he?)." He thought.
Kenneth: "Why do you want me to join anyway? I don't think I'll be that useful." He asked.
Luffy: "You seem like a good person, and you said you're looking for some people, right?" He asked.
Kenneth gave the nod.
Luffy: "Well, I'm sure while you travel with us, we can find the time to help you find them, right Zoro?" He asked his crewmate.
Zoro thought about it for a moment and gave Luffy a nod.
Luffy: "So what do you say?" He offered.
Kenneth stood there thinking about what to do, but then he looked at Matthew, who was staring at Kenneth, waiting for his answer. He then decided to ask Matthew a question before he made his decision.
Kenneth: "Matthew, did he tell you the same thing before you joined his crew?" He asked.
Matthew gave Kenneth a nod.
Matthew: "Yeah, but I didn't join just to find our friend; I also joined so I could see the other Islands and meet new people and discover new things the world has to offer." He said back.
Kenneth: "Well, joining Luffy's crew will help me find the rest of my friends and my little brother and sister. Then I might as well go with them; who knows, it might be fun." He thought.
Kenneth folded his arms across his chest as he smiled and looked toward Luffy.
Kenneth: "Well, since I helped you free Zoro from the Marine base and fought the Marines, too, I guess this means I'll have to leave now." He stated.
Luffy: "That's right, if you come with me, you can find your friends and your siblings. So, I'm going to ask again. Kenneth, do you wanna join my crew?" He asked.
Kenneth: "I, Keller C. Kenneth, will join your pirate crew so that I can find my friends and my siblings." "But as for my goal, I don't have one yet, but I hope while traveling with you guys, I'll find what I want to become as a pirate." Luffy, will you let me join?" He asked with a smile.
Luffy: "Of course, welcome aboard!" He grinned.
Luffy: "Alright, I got not only one but two new crewmembers. Man, I'm so awesome!" He bragged.
Ririka, Rika, Micheal, and Coby laugh at Luffy's enthusiasm.
Zoro: "I guess it's not so bad having at least four people, but this means if it's only the four of us, it's only you, him, him, and I are what amounts to an entire pirate crew?" He gestured to Luffy, Matthew, Kenneth, and himself.
Matthew: "When you put it like that, we're not exactly much of a crew." He commented.
Kenneth: "We'll just be four guys sailing in the ocean; it kinda sounds like the plot of a sitcom." He told Matthew.
Matthew: "I didn't think of it like that." He replied.
Zoro: "What's a sitcom?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Matthew: "Uh, don't worry about it." He said.
Kenneth: "Though it will be dangerous with just the four of us." He started.
Luffy: "I don't see anything wrong with that; we're all strong guys besides you." He gestured to Kenneth
Kenneth: "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that." He shot back.
Zoro: "Okay, please tell me you have a ship?" He asked.
Matthew chuckles awkwardly. "Yeah, it's right there." He said as he pointed out the window.
Outside at the dock was Luffy and Matthew's sailboat. A little dog was at the pier, taking a leak right into it.
Zoro: "You're Kidding?" He frowned.
Kenneth: "Well, I wasn't expecting a big ship." He remarked.
Luffy: "At least someone is taking it well, but trust me, I will have a big one soon!" "Just wait and see!" He exclaimed.
Zoro chuckled loudly.
Zoro: "And how is that?" He asked.
Luffy: "I heard from some people in my hometown about a rich girl who lives on an island called Syrup Town not too far from here. If I go there and talk to her, I'll see if I can ask her for a ship." He explained.
After hearing what Luffy said, Kenneth's sweat dropped in response, and he walked over to Zoro.
Kenneth: "You don't think it's too late for me to change my mind about joining his crew?" He asked Zoro.
Matthew: "Oh, come on, guys, give it some time. We'll have more crewmates in no time, and who knows, maybe it might work out for us if Luffy can convince someone to give us a ship." He said to Zoro and Kenneth.
Rika: "Luffy, where are you and your crew planning to travel when you get your ship?" She asked.
Luffy: "You mean it's not obvious?" "We're heading straight to the grand line!" He grinned at her.
At this point, Coby's juice was spat out of his nose and mouth.
Coby: "No! Have you completely lost your mind? You have four crew members! No way you're equipped to handle the Grand line, Luffy!" He shouted.
Rika: "I've heard about it, but I never knew it was such an awful place." Rika stated.
Coby: "It's worse than you think; you know that the world has two oceans, and an enormous landmass cuts across both. This is called the red line. Legend tells of a town that sits dead center on the red line. The grand line is set to cut through this town at a right angle and stretch around the rest of the world. The story goes on to say that Gold Roger, the king of the pirates, had once obtained everything this world had to offer. Before he died, he said he left the great treasure—the One Piece, at this location. Ever since, Pirates have set sail for the Grand Line. Today, the place is nothing but a battlefield, and some even call it the 'Pirate Graveyard.'"
Ririka: "I've heard stories about people passing through; the customers say that no one who has ever entered the Grand Line comes out of that place alive." She mentioned.
Kenneth started to sweat buckets after hearing Coby finish explaining what the Grand Line was like, but he still didn't know what they were talking about when they mentioned the King of the Pirates.
Luffy: "Which is too bad, 'cause that's where the One Piece is said to be, and that's exactly where we're going." He claimed.
Zoro: "I guess we have to live with it." He stated, sitting back.
Matthew: "I guess you're right." He agreed as he leaned his chin on his palm.
Matthew: "The Grand Line is probably where Kenneth and I will find our friends and Kenne's siblings." He whispered that to himself.
Coby: "No! You can't just agree!" He shouted, getting up from his chair.
Matthew: "Whoa, relax, Coby, why are you so defensive about it?" He asked.
Zoro: "And why do you care? You're not going with us, are you?" He Questioned.
Coby: "No, but I still worry. Is it wrong to care about the four of you? Luffy, Matthew, and I haven't known each other for years, but I still consider them my friends, wouldn't you say?" He looked at Luffy and Matthew.
Luffy: "Of course, we may have to part ways, but we'll always be friends." He grinned, while Matthew just gave him a friendly smile and nodded.
Coby smiled and looked at the ground.
Coby: "When I was just a little kid…I never had any friends, much less anyone who would fight on my behalf. So I always tried my hardest never to fight for anything." Coby raised his head and smiled at Luffy, Matthew, Zoro, and Kenneth.
Coby: "But the four of you had taught me a lesson I could have never learned on my own, how to fight for what I believe in, and so I decided to make my one childhood dream a reality, and I'm going to join the Marines." He said, finishing his tale.
Micheal: "Then shouldn't you be more concerned about your situation? From what Luffy and Matthew told me, you spent two years on Alvida's Pirate ship, even if you were nothing but a cabin boy." He informed him.
Luffy: "Yeah, they could run a background check on you and find out you were on a Pirate crew." He mentioned.
Zoro: "The Marines's information gathering is top-notch; they'll find out about your time with Alvida, and you'll never join." He stated.
Coby: "I never thought of that…?" He voiced with wide eyes.
Kenneth walked to the bar where Micheal was sitting and sat beside him.
Kenneth: "Mike, you don't feel the same about Coby as the other Marines, do you?" He asked.
Mike just shook his head at the question.
Micheal: "Nah, from seeing him in action, I know when someone is not intentionally affiliated with criminals when I see one. But I don't think my associates will think the same thing." He explained.
Kenneth looked at Coby with a sympathetic expression; he wished there was a way to help Coby join the Marines. The door opened to reveal the Marines as the one leading them, Lieutenant Ripper, stepped inside.
Marine soldier: "Hey, you there. We heard that you fellas are pirates. Is this rumor true?" He asked.
Luffy: "That's right, I just added two new members to my crew. So I'm pretty sure the whole thing just became official." He said with no worry.
Lt. Ripper then noticed Micheal sitting on one of the bar stools; they both glanced at each other momentarily.
Ripper: "Micheal." He said as he tipped his hat towards him.
Micheal: "Ripper." He with a hint of annoyance as he gave him a little wave.
Kenneth couldn't help but notice the tension between these two.
Kenneth: "Well, that was something else." He thought as he watched the two men glance at each other.
Ripper then looked towards Luffy.
Ripper: "We appreciate everything you did to save our town from that horrible tyrant who terrorized us all for so long. However, now that we know that you're pirates, as Marines, we can not sit idly by and watch you go about your business. Therefore, you and your crew will have to leave this town immediately. But out of respect for your actions, we'll not report you to headquarters." He informed me.
The townspeople were upset with what Ripper had just said. The townspeople were grateful to Luffy, Matthew, Zoro, and Kenneth. Who saved their town from Morgan? They disagreed that they had to leave since that's what Ripper wanted. And they weren't the only ones.
Kenneth stared at him in complete shock as he let his jaw hang open. But he then closed his mouth as his facial expressions started to show silent fury.
Kenneth: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME, AFTER ALL WE'VE DONE WHILE YOU AND THE REST OF YOUR LACKEYS WERE TOO COWARDLY AND CHICKEN HARDEN TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT MANIAC, THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY US!" He thought as he clenched his fist tightly.
Luffy: "Well…time to go. Thanks for everything, Ririka." He said with a smile as he stood up from his chair and swung a food sack over his shoulder.
Micheal noticed the expression on Kenneth's face and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, which snapped Kenneth out of his thoughts as he turned his head to face Micheal.
Micheal: "Forget it, Kenneth, it's not worth it; if it were up to me, I would let you and your friends stay for a little longer until everything was settled down. But as far as you're concerned, I can do nothing for you now except wish you luck; you'll need it with the crew you joined." He told him.
Kenneth gave him a nod before getting off the stool and heading to his room to pack his things.
Ririka: "Don't bother Kenneth, I already have your things right here." She told him as she grabbed his backpack from behind the counter and placed it on his sitting stool.
Kenneth smiled and grabbed it without hesitation; he saw Luffy walk off, followed by Zoro and Matthew. He was about to follow them when he felt someone had grabbed his shirt from behind. He looked behind him and saw Rika gripping the bottom back of his shirt.
Rika: "Kenneth, wait a second." She asked.
Kenneth stopped and knelt at her level.
Kenneth: "What's wrong?" He asked.
Rika: "You're leaving already?" She asked.
Kenneth: "I'm afraid so." He told her.
Rika: "But do you have to go to Kenneth?" She asked with sad and hopeful eyes.
Kenneth: "Rika, I have to go; I'm a pirate now. But you can come with me if you want, plus I'm sure Luffy wouldn't mind having you along with us." He offered as he extended his hand towards her.
Rika thought about this for a moment, and then she gently closed Kenneth and shook her head no.
Rika: "No, Kenneth, I think I'll just be in the way, and you said it yourself that you have to find your friends. And your siblings, so don't worry." She told him with a sad smile.
Kenneth: "I'm sorry I must leave so suddenly." He said in a sympathetic tone.
Rika: "I know…but…I'll miss you." She choked out and looked down at the floor as a few tears leaked out of her eyes.
Kenneth's eyes widened until he smiled; he'll never forget that three months ago since he came to this world, this little girl and her mother cared for him and made him feel welcome. He won't forget their kindness.
Kenneth: "I miss you too, Rika." He said as Rika cried and ran into Kenneth to hug him.
He wrapped his arms around her; Ririka and the townspeople couldn't help but smile and 'aww' at the scene. Even some of the Marines couldn't help but 'aww' as well until Ripper glared at them, which caused them to stop what they were doing nervously.
Kenneth finished hugging Rika and Walked up to Ririka and Micheal.
Kenneth: "Before I leave, I would like to tell you both thank you for all your help." He said, extending his hand towards Micheal.
Micheal gave Kenneth a nod and shook his hand.
Rirka: "No, thank you, Kenneth, for everything." She said with a smile, as Kenneth smiled back, appreciating the thanks.
Kenneth was then surprised when Rirka approached him, took him by the shoulder, and kissed him on the cheek. Kenneth's cheeks turned light red as he nervously chuckled and walked away.
Kenneth: "Bye, Ririka, bye Rika. I'll miss you guys." He said with a smile and walked up to Luffy, Matthew, and Zoro, who waited for him.
Kenneth: "Alright, I'm ready to go, guys; let's get out of here." He said as he strapped the backpack to his back.
The four pirates began walking out of the tavern as Coby stood unmoving. Coby's eyes were wide; he could feel the eyes of Ripper on his back.
Ripper: "Aren't you part of the crew as well?" He asked the pink-haired boy.
Coby jolted from where he was standing.
Coby: "W-well, I uh-" He stammered out.
Luffy and Matthew turned around to look at Coby without saying anything and were about to leave.
Ripper: "Hold it, is he with you or what?" He asked
Luffy turned to Ripper with a smile.
Luffy: "What I can tell you is what he's been doing now.
Coby turned around and stared at Luffy in complete shock.
Yeah! There was this obese pirate lady, and I think her name is Alvida." He began to ramble on.
As Luffy began to ramble on about Alvida Coby, this would be wrong; he wouldn't be able to join the Marines at this rate if Luffy kept this up. Coby let out a roar as he threw a punch into Luffy's face; the sudden action caused some people to gasp. Kenneth was honestly surprised himself.
Luffy: "Why you-!" He yelled.
Wham!
Luffy threw a punch to Coby's face, and he started to beat up Coby while shouting insults at him.
Ripper: "Get out of here now! We can't have you Pirates disturbing the peace, you hear me!" He warned.
Zoro: "Enough! You made your point; now let him fall to the ground." He stated as he grabbed Luffy by the back of his vest.
Matthew: "And…He's down, Ding ding." He drawled and walked up as Coby fell to the ground on his back.
Kenneth: "Luffy, what he-" Kenneth was then cut off from what he was about to say cause Matthew whispered to him about why Luffy did what he did.
Kenneth: "Oh, so you remember I'm slow at comprehending certain things?" He says with a smirk.
Mathew smiled back and gave him a nod in response to his question.
Ripper: "It's obvious you're not crewmates, so stop battering the poor kid and take your leave from our town this instant!" He pointed at the three pirates.
Luffy smirked, grabbed his hat, and left with Zoro, Matthew, and Kenneth. The townspeople watch the four left on their way to the dock.
Coby: "That was on purpose? Luffy did that to help me out… he worked me up and got me so mad that I made it look like I wasn't on his side… even at the end of our journey together, I wound up continuing to rely on him. I couldn't do anything for myself… nothing has changed at all! I'm such an idiot." He thought.
Coby stood up and looked directly at Ripper.
Coby: "Sir! Please, sir, you have to let me join the Marines! I'll clean and scrub and do any chores you want me to do! I'll do anything to become a Marine!" He told him.
Marine soldier: "Lieutenant, I can't say I fully trust this kid. I wouldn't be against the idea if there weren't clear cases of certain Marines being Pirate's spies. I say we should conduct a background check first." He implied.
Micheal was about to interject what the soldier was suggesting.
Coby: "I am not a Pirate! No matter what you say, I am a man that will become a Marine!" He shouted.
Coby and Ripper stared each other down until Ripper walked past Coby.
Ripper: "I can't tell you how many of our comrades have been killed by Pirates over the years; this is a big step you're taking. Permission to join: Granted." He stated.
Coby smiled as he turned around and saluted.
Coby: "Sir!" He yelled.
Micheal let out a giggle as he watched what just happened.
Ririka: "And what was so funny?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow towards Micheal.
Micheal: "Oh nothing, I'm just glad to see that boy finally grow a spine after what straw hat just did for him." He said with a grin on his face.
Ririka: "I meant to ask you something about Kenneth and his now Pirate captain, Luffy. What do you see in them? Cause I noticed that look on your face when you ran into that opened your eyes." She told him.
Micheal sighed and smirked as he shook his head a little.
Micheal: "It's not only Kenneth and Luffy. You're forgetting that blond-haired kid that Kenneth was talking to. And as for your question, what I saw in the three of them is a light that shines even brighter than the light Gold Rogers showed to me on that day when he was executed." He told her as he stared at the ceiling for a moment.
Ririka stared at him for a moment before she gave a nod.
Rika: "Do you think Kenneth and his friend will be okay in the ocean?" She asked.
Micheal: "Eh, I wouldn't worry; as long as they have each other's back, they should be fine." He told her as he gently patted her on the head.
Luffy and his three new crewmates were walking down the road toward the dock so they could leave the island.
Zoro: "That was a fine act you put on back there; I'd be surprised if they see right through it." He commented.
Kenneth: "I was initially confused, but Matthew told me what was happening. Nice job, Captain." He told Luffy.
Luffy: "Coby should be able to handle the rest independently; I have faith in him." He said with a chuckle.
Zoro: "It is a fitting way to leave this place, unable to turn back because everyone here hates us now, very Pirate-like." He said.
Matthew: "Townspeople hating Pirates is a common thing, but you're right." He smirked, folding his arms.
Luffy: "Yeah, it sure is." He laughed as he started to untie the boat from the dock.
"Luffy, Matthew!"
The three turned and saw Coby staring directly at them, along with Micheal, Ririka, and Rika. The Pink-haired boy stood straight and saluted.
Coby: "I can never thank the both of you enough; you two have done more for me than anyone ever has!" He told them.
Zoro: "I never heard of a Marine thanking a Pirate before; that's one for the history books." He grinned.
Matthew: "That's a rare sight if I've seen one." He smirked.
Luffy only chuckled at Coby as he, Matthew, Kenneth, and Zoro got into the sailboat and started sailing away from the island.
Matthew: "Bye Coby!" He exclaimed.
Luffy: "See ya later, Coby!" He exclaimed, waving with both hands.
Rika: "Bye, Kenneth, we'll meet again someday!" She waved at him.
Kenneth: "Bye Rika, bye Ririka, and bye Mike, I hope I see you soon."
Mike just smirked and waved.
Micheal: "Oh, you'll see me again, Kenneth, sooner than you think." He thought as he waved.
Ripper: "All hands, salute!" He shouted.
Coby watched as the boat drifted further and farther away as Luffy kept waving.
Luffy: "See ya!" He yelled.
Ripper: "That's a good friend you have there." He to Coby with a smile.
Tears started to form in Coby's eyes.
Coby: "Yeah!" He agreed.
Ripper: "Men, seeing as our current salute violates Marine law! We'll have to go with food for three days, do you understand!? He exclaimed.
Coby and all Marines: "Yessir!" They agreed to Ripper's terms.
Coby: "I know we'll meet again someday, deep inside as much as I ever felt anything! Even if we are divided as Pirates and Marines, I still look forward to that day!" He thought proudly.
Luffy, who had his foot planted on top of the sailboat's front, Zoro, Kenneth, and Matthew were leaning on opposite sides of the boat.
Luffy: "At last, our Pirate crew finally sets sail!" He declared.
Zoro: "I feel some interesting adventures are waiting for us." He noted.
Kenneth: "It'll probably be dangerous/life-threatening." He added with a nervous smile.
Matthew: "But hey, where's the fun if there isn't a little danger, am I right?" He said as he pat Kenneth on the back.
Luffy only laughed in response as Kenneth, Zoro, and Matthew smiled.
Luffy: "I'll be King of the Pirates, I know it." He said.
Zoro couldn't help but frown and ask Luffy a question.
Zoro: "You seem more than obsessed with this King of the Pirates business. Is there some story behind it or any reason at all?" He wondered.
Luffy: "No, no reason, it's just…" He stated.
Zoro: "Just what?" He egged on.
Luffy: "I promised someone a while back." He smiled.
Kenneth: "A promise, huh? What kind of promise was it?" He asked.
Luffy: "I swore I would gather a crew, find the world's greatest treasure, and become king of the Pirates. And this straw hat knows the whole story." He declared.
Zoro: "I see." He smirked.
Kenneth: "Hey Matthew, now would be a good time about this King of the Pirates thing he was talking about." He told Matthew as they were both leaning on the side of the boat.
The boat was heading towards the sun.
Matthew: "Okay, I hope you're ready to pay attention and let me explain. He told him before he started to fill Kenneth In about the King of the Pirates title.
Luffy: "Now! Let's go; it's time to set sail for Syrup Town!" He yelled.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and in case anyone starts to ask. In the next chapter, our next O.C will be making an appearance and will be joining Luffy's crew. I will leave an analysis of our O.C right here.
Full name - Miller S. Tyler.
Pirate name - Copycat.
