"Its... reasonable..." Ruka looked down as she processed what Asuka had announced. Her experience with Ancient Fairy and even the Crimson Dragon had given her some insight regarding shields. 'Big Sister has that barrier maiden.. 'Reveler of the Ice Barrier' she called her?'

"A barrier doesn't bounce things back though, it just absorbs and poofs that energy away," Rua noted as he continued to rub at his hair to make it dry faster. As his sister nodded in agreement Rua dropped his towel as he gave this thoughtful frown. "It could be the cards that Captain Ryu carries, or it could be that big sister Carly's fairies woke up... but I'd rather that not be the case."

"Wait why? We've 'all' been waiting to see the fairies come out of their cocoons, even you! Why change now?" Junko asked, all the teenagers began swapping the most concerned expressions among each other as the twins shrugged. When they answered, their words, spoken in complete unison was enough to make the teenagers pause in worry and growing concern.

"The last time the fairies transformed from the Fortune Fairies to the Fortune Ladies, Carly had died and became a Dark Signer. If she were here and safe it would be one thing but..."

"But Jack is willing to descend into the Underworld to be with Carly, yes if she has died the Dragons would be weakened..." Ancient Fairy agreed as her memory of the conversation she had with Archfiend Dragon played back.

"No, I refuse to believe that! She did the reading she knew she had a good outlook so she left." Asuka argued with quiet determination. As everyone turned to look at her, with various expressions ranging from sympathy to almost out right pity she grabbed what pride she had left and continued. "I know I've been making bad calls left and right for a while now. But I have to believe, I refuse to believe any other fate than that Carly is ok."

Ancient Fairy looked about the room, the teens were new to her compared to her dragon brethren. Yet these children were precious in their own ways, 'I see why God would choose them, they speak with bravado. These days and ages are so soft, these children have the potential to be something great. If they could just move past pride or crippling doubt.'

"All monsters require a sacrifice to evolve on the field. Be it life points from the player, a special item, or other monsters. But this isn't a game, at least not one that plays by such simplified rules. You would know best though," Ryo looked up at Ancient Fairy, his expression was cool, calm, and with his words the others shifted.

Ancient Fairy felt it every time he spoke, the others straightened up, grew quiet and obedient.

"Can such an evolution happen without the cost of life? Could the Fairies become Ladies without sacrificing Carly?"

"I can say with utter confidence that yes, it can happen. They could very well just been absorbing the energy from Little Carly's growing maturity and used that instead. Remember that this game you play to interact with us was created by Pegasus. Games require rules, boundaries, costs, what happens in the game does not always happen for us..."

"Then I'll choose to believe in Asuka, as its our duty to face Yubel. We need to go and make sure they're ok and join the others." Ryo announced as he thought about what Asuka had described. The colors matching the fairies and given what the fate had been. Deep down, he felt this was right. If the Fairies were going to evolve, now on the cusp of battle to protect her felt like the best time to emerge.

"Even if we don't see any action, we should be there to celebrate with Carly!" Momoe added before she went to grab the supplies and pack them up.

"But I just finished drying my hair!" Rua argued half heartedly before he went to get his proper street clothes on.

"I took a bath to clean up from this..." Rua now argued as he stepped outside.

It wasn't terrible, not like when the blast first happened. It was the typical dark, the dust had settled for the most part... Unless the wind stirred there really wasn't anything moving outside. Shops usually illuminated the night with soft lights were dark, making the road feel almost haunted.

"They probably alerted the shops to close due to the threat. That orb belonging to Yubel means that they probably had hints at go and warned the shopkeepers." Momoe noted, as much to fill the air with possibilities as to push away the oppressive silence.

With the dust softening their footsteps, the rubber soles of their sneakers made even less sound. Heightening the sense of danger among the group as only honest shop keepers would go home, criminals well... The twins and Kazu were holding the flashlights, while Ryo and Fubuki were taking point. The rest of the group were either carrying supplies or keeping an eye out for danger.

Meanwhile the spirits stayed quiet and invisible by order of the Ancient Fairy Dragon.

"No one can summon you. Should something happen to Little Aki, you would fade away completely. You must practice discretion and only come out if the children encounter danger."

So they slipped among the shadows, or floated above the group and kept an eye out in the sky and the ground.

Thus some rode the air and could see the last residuals of Yubel's corrupted light as it rose up out into space, as well as the eldritch magics. While in the distance the power of actual battle resonated to them.

"It feels weird, the air feels too thick to dance in," Tutu whispered to Cyber Harpy.

"Agreed, I have feathered wings and the air feels too weighted for them," Cyber Harpy shook out her wings in irritation. "Worse than flying through a storm cloud."

"I'm worried about the humans though," Cyber Blader glanced down at the group. "The queen is right, we're here on borrowed power and if something happens. They lose our protection... But it still bothers me that they're expected to fight Yubel. They have no power, only Fubuki has anything and he resists the use of the Mask of Darkness..."

"It would give him power, but I'd rather talk to one of the Dark Sages about the mask first. Or better yet get him to talk to the Sage." Cyber Harpy agreed with a faint nod.

"You know... I just thought about something..." Tutu looked up, her expression thoughtful. "Yubels attack went straight up... but that means going straight up into that... do you think it had any effect?"

The other two spirits looked up as they soared above the buildings, at the swath of darkness above them all. On their home world the stars still burned as the field of diamonds they had ever been. Yet no spirit could fathom what this thing was, Ancient Fairy Dragon, the Ancient Sages borne from the soul of Gods' most faithful servant... Everyone was drawing the concerned blanks on 'that' thing.'

"It lives, that vast darkness. The section in the libraries that discuss things regarding God and when He created all are missing. But they have been missing since He left us," one sage confessed as he stared up at the sky. "If I were to hazard though, it appears as a large eye... Much akin to a slit eyed beast..."

"So among animals, cats eyes can become slits... there's reptiles and snakes too..." Tutu noted.

"Notice how they're all predators..." Cyber Harpy warned, "if the Sage was right what's looking down on us could be a very, 'very', big predator."

"I don't wanna be a snack..." Tutu whimpered as she skated along the airwaves.

"God leaves and eventually every predator from the universe finds us..." Blader grumbled. She hadn't come into being when God walked among them. When Ancient Fairy or any of those spirits spoke of Him she found herself wishing He would come back. He made the Duel Spirit world for them after all, made a place for them to be safe from humans who would hurt or exploit them.

"I hope God didn't send that down to us as a type of punishment..." Blader looked up.

"Well with a jinx like that I wouldn't be surprised if God 'did' now!" Tutu scolded as she did a twirl. "He literally killed a lot of people in the ocean cuz someone made him mad. One person got him to turn the ocean against everyone!"

"You girls need to be quiet," Cyber Phoenix grumbled as he swooped down before settling into a glide. The bird gave everyone a small side eye of annoyance, "you gossiping hens need to remember what the Ancient Fairy Dragon instructed us."

All three women grew quiet, with only Tutu rallying against the bird by sticking her tongue out at him.

"Also from what I have been able to observe of the energy ball, it has either evaporated or disappeared due to leaving orbit." Cyber Phoenix added causing the three other spirits to shush him.

Taking to the air had allowed the quartet to reach the rough area that Asuka had seen and they split off to try to find the exact area. Tutu danced from roof to the roof, Blader raced along the wind currents while both avian spirits flew between.

'I hope Asuka is right about this,' Blader mused to herself. 'She's been holding herself responsible for everything since this began. Its eating away at her confidence, especially with both Momoe and Junko bearing those scars.'

Cyber Harpy had stopped her circling before diving down with only a quick, "hey!"

"Cyber Harpy..." Cyber Phoenix grumbled but there was no force behind the voice.

The group was there! Asuka was right! Below was the quartet accompanied by human sized women instead of the more known little sprite like fairies. Cyber Harpy landed after giving everyone a visual once over. Zalinka and Ryu were hovering around Carly who was sitting there holding her head but over all they looked ok!

"She was right, you got the fairies back," Cyber Harpy began as a greeting and got a small wave from Ryu in answer.

"Yes, Cyber Harpy, meet the Fortune Ladies, Carly's Signatures have evolved on their own!" Zalinka answered with a boastful grin. "All this time Carly's been worrying and nah, the girls were just napping!"

Cyber Harpy was already curious, though a vain creature by nature, fairies tended to be comparable to worms in her point of view. Weak small prey creatures that were only a threat when they were in a group. Hence why the Fortune Fairies were a danger, they were a group that never strayed from each other or their human.

These woman.

Were dangerous and even a fool with eyes could see it. Each woman shared attributes that were generally associated with either bats or dragons, mostly in those wings that grew out of their heads, or in war paint and more alluring clothes. Dangerous predators and silky seductresses, Cyber Harpy could see these women would be sharing the same realm of sex appeal that she resided in.

"Hey can you blame me?" Carly asked with a shaky grin before looking up at her girls. "I'm so glad you came back to me..."

Swee reached out and rested her hand on Carly's shoulder when her long blue coat ruffled slightly upon Cyber Harpy's landing. Her other hand grasped her staff a weapon the other Ladies all bore as well. "Silly, these things take time, we're just glad that we were able to wake up in time to keep you from being annihilated."

"The others are coming, Asuka saw it from the condo," Cyber Harpy gestured behind her as the other spirits began to gather around them.

"You left because of us?" Ryu asked in confusion, "that doesn't sound safe..."

"Its not, but we're not staying here, the group wants to go to battle. Its their responsibility to face Yubel and the others and they've decided to stop hiding behind the Dragons."

"Indeed," Cyber Phoenix agreed as he landed on the ground near the group as he eyed the Ladies. "Power has grown, abilities expanded... that 'you' can scare away 'Yubel' who has terrified the whole of our world..."

"It is amazing," Tutu agreed as she began eyeing the Ladies change in attire. "Not fairies at all, you kinda make me think of Witch, with the staves and all..."

Hikari grinned in amusement before she reached out and ruffled Tutu's hair.

"We can wait until the others get here then," Carly suggested as Ann and Hu settled down next to her. "Topaz Tiger is miserable I think, they've done something to him and probably all of them. I don't recall the pictures of him including black armor but parts of him are covered..."

"Armor..." Tutu frowned as Blader glided down to join them. "I mean we don't really 'wear' more or get armor as permanent parts of us... maybe..."

"Correct, what we are depicted as is how we remain. We receive new 'cards' to show our evolution... Only did Topaz Tiger officially gain one to manifest armor, or is this because of Yubel or Trueman?" Cyber Phoenix replied as he sent their location and status information to the other Cybernetic spirits. "Its possible that Yubel is corrupting Jesse's soul and that's how its manifesting on his spirits."

"A virus if you will, but if they're going after Topaz Tiger, what about the other Gem Beasts?" Ryu asked as he turned to look in the direction of the battle. "We know that Trueman can make multiple copies of himself and Yubel is there, too. There's only four Dragons with the twins back at the condo... Perhaps you should go and let the others know to go directly to the fight, and we'll go there ourselves. Yubel fled at the Fortune Ladies' display of power, I'm sure the Dragons need us quickly."

"Jack isn't going to be happy to see me," Carly bemoaned as she pushed herself to her feet.

"No, he'll be elated to see you alive... Its that you're at the battle field that is going to piss him off so it kinda balances out." Zalinka corrected as she shrugged with a grin on her face.

"Did... something happen?" Tutu asked in confusion only for the Ladies to shake their heads and wave away the question.

"Yubel sent Topaz Tiger to kill a family," Hu answered without warning, an answer that got Tutu to pale at the horror. "But Yubel isn't Topaz Tiger's... How can they get Jesse to give such an order?"

"Been doing it for a while now," Blader pointed out as she glanced over her shoulder before refocusing on the main discussion.

"We can talk about it later," Chee promised, since people would probably forget the question. "We can carry the lot of them, since we're close enough to Aki that we can depend on her power to support us."

"Sounds like a plan," Blader agreed, "right now we're trying to be quiet. Given Topaz Tiger's presence we should keep an eye out for the other Gem Beasts.."

"Right," Zalinka nodded as they began to sort themselves out. The spirits returning to their group while the Ladies went about gathering up the group and began the process of flying them over to the Dragons. For those brave enough to watch the world outside, they saw a series of bright colored orbs rise up into the sky as that massive white orb did before before flying off. Though this one clearly had an angle and direction and if one squinted, people?

"I can't believe I'm 'flying!'" Carly squealed into Hikari's poofy gold colored coat covered shoulder. Over said shoulder, she could see the virtual scythe that formed the bottom of the lady's staff. Strange that someone meant to represent such a great fortune would have something so menacing as her weapon. Indeed the batwings seemed rather off for her as well, given her fortune and as Carly studied them... All her precious fairies had grown up, true. But now they looked... intimidating, scary even. Not her sweet adorable fairies... Just beautiful elegant ladies with dangerous weapons...

"Jesse you need to wake up," Judai crooned as he walked over. "Yubel needs me, and that means us."
