Chapter 10 – The Body and Heart
"Then allow me to show you the power of two gods. My turn." After drawing, all Speed Counters reach 3. The King of the Underworld is still over the seas of Japan crossing Satellite to reach Neo Domino City.
"While my opponent has monsters and I don't, I can special summon the Sun Priest." His monster is an Inca priest wielding clothing that gives praise to the sun.
Oracle of the Sun: 1000/2000 (5)
"Next, I shall summon Fire Ant Ascator." Next up is his tuner, a fire ant basically.
Ascator: 700/1300 (3) Tuner
"I shall tune my level 3 Ascator with my level 5 Priest!" The ant explodes into Synchro Rings that pass through the priest. "When the sun rises, it will illuminate all darkness! May the light flood within! Synchro Summon!"
Appearing now is a red sun with four dragon heads. Solar energy radiates off of it. "Come forth, Sun Dragon Inti!"
Inti: 3000/2800 (8)
"So, that's his ace…" Yusei says seeing it.
"Second, by banishing Ascator from my cemetery, I can special summon the Weeping Idol."
Weeping Idol: 0/0 (2)
"And, by paying 1000 life points, I special summon the Dark Tuner Black Goddess Witaka from my hand." The DARK Tuner appearing is a legless witch draped in dark clothing. Its face cannot be seen beyond the mask.
Witaka: 0/0 (3) DARK Tuner
Seeing the monster, the trio becomes nervous when it also copies Inti's level. "I'll now perform a Dark Tuning with Witaka and my statue!"
Witaka explodes into eight stars. Each one enters the idol, two stars deleting their own. Once it explodes, the dark stars emerge before spiraling before Goodwin. "When the moon is full in the darkness, the whisperings of the devil will be heard! Enticing them to death!"
The darkness explodes, revealing a copy of Inti. But, this monster is not only weaker, but it's also blue and purple with a cracked face of the moon instead of the sun. "DARK SYNCHRO! Come forth, Moon Dragon Quilla!"
Quilla: 2500/2000 (6)
Goodwin then sets two cards before ending his turn. Quilla then enters the graveyard, destroying itself.
Starting his turn, Crow moves forward. "You better not be throwing in the towel already. I don't care about becoming god or destiny. I'll push through and blow past them all, just like the Legendary D-Wheeler!"
Rex chuckles a little. "But when he did it, it cost him his left arm."
'It what…' Crow pushes that aside to begin his turn. After drawing he activates the Speed Spell – Tune Up 123. "By rolling a dice, depending on the result I can increase a Tuner's level."
His screen rolls a die, which shows him 2. As a result, Mistral's level increases to 3. "I'll tune my now level 3 Mistral the Silver Shield with my level 4 Black Spear Blast!"
Mistral disperses into three rings, passing through Blast. "Darkened gales become the wings which will soar to the heavens! Synchro Summon! Black Feather – Armored Wing!" As Crow's ace monster pops onto the field, he takes another card from his hand to summon. It's Elphin the Raven.
"Armored Wing, attack the Sun Dragon Inti!" His armored bird man flies forward at the Quadro-head solar dragon. With a punch it strikes the sun's face forehead, pulling back as a wedge is left.
The four heads grab Armored Wing as the sun releases a bright ray to blast him, but he breaks free unharmed. "Armored Wing cannot be destroyed by battle and I take no battle damage. He also leaves a Wedge Counter in anything he strikes, which I can remove causing your dragon to be nothing."
The wedge is pulled free, leaving Inti to be cracked. "Elphin, finish him off!" The other Black Feather flies in and claws Inti, shattering it.
With its destruction, Rex's life drops along with his Speed Counters to 8800. Regardless, the Dark Signer God is undeterred. "When Icarus got too close to the sun, his wings melted and he crashed. Just like him, the Legendary D-Wheeler tried the impossible and survived, at the cost of his left arm."
"How would you even know that?!" asks Crow.
"Wait a minute…" Yusei catches onto what he's implying. "Are you the Legendary D-Wheeler?!"
"What?! I'll be damned if that's true!"
"… when Inti is destroyed by battle, the monster responsible is destroyed and you take damage equal to its attack power." Elphin is illuminated by light, before incinerated. Crow cries out in pain as he takes the hit.
Crow: 1800
Even worse, from clouds below Rex rises Quilla the Moon Dragon. "When Inti is destroyed, the moon dragon shall rise."
Seeing it, Crow curses realizing everything he did hasn't cleared his field. "I'll set two cards and end my turn…"
Rex stares at the Dragon Head on his arm. "The Legendary D-Wheeler learned his lesson; you cannot defy fate. Such is the way of an ordinary person, a worthless human! You cannot shatter the chains of fate when you're tied into it! Only by becoming a god can you overcome fate, and create a miracle!"
"I won't accept it! And I'll be damned if I let you trample on the legend we all hold dear!" Crow shouts with tears.
Laughing, Rex raises his left arm. All of the marks disappear from everyone's arms, before appearing on his chest. Seeing it, the Signers panic a little. "IT IS DONE! I AM THE ULTIMATE GOD!"
Yusei grits his teeth. "We won't have that! Our bonds won't be shattered by fragile claims."
Jack drives further, narrowing his eyes as he and the others make a turn on the geoglyph path. "Please. I couldn't give a damn about godhood, much less bonds! I'm only here to do what I have to!"
As this goes on, people gather under the geoglyph all throughout Neo Domino City. Angela gives her report. The perimeter of his home is surrounded by the flames of his Dark Signer powers.
Jack proceeds with his turn. "I won't be swayed by destiny or anything. I'll push forward at a speed so fast you'll never catch up with me!"
He sets a card facedown before summoning Magic Hole Golem, a gold and blue stone monster with a circle as its main body.

"Once per turn, Magic Hole Golem can halve a monster's attack on my field, allowing it to attack directly! I'll apply this effect to Mad Daemon!" His bone demon passes through the hole to fly for Goodwin. The skull in its stomach is crushed up by the mouth connecting it before the shards fly at the Dark Signer.
Goodwin: 7900
"Don't be like that, Jack. No matter how fast you are you can't dash from your unsavory bonds! Shadow Dance, activate!" Crow plays his card, adding an extra thousand damage to the Dark Signer.
Goodwin: 6900
"That's right. Signer or not, it won't matter. We all already have a bond called friendship! This steadfast symbol will allow us to tear down your destiny!" Yusei says.
"Yusei, go on!"
Starting his turn, Yusei draws before summoning Junk Synchron. As his best Tuner appears, it gives him the means to follow through. He then tunes Junk Synchron with Max Warrior. "Clustering roars will become an echoing arrow to tear through the sky! Become the path the light shines upon! Synchro Summon!"
His new monster appears, being a Junk monster of an archer archetype. This man with orange armor and a teal arrow poses. "Show yourself, Junk Archer!"
Junk Archer: 2300/2000 (7)
"Once per turn, Junk Archer can banish a monster for the rest of the turn! His target? Quilla!" Junk Archer aims before firing the Dimension Shoot at the dragon. It disappears into another void.
"Yosh! The field is clear, Yusei!" Jack shouts.
"Junk Archer, direct attack! Scrap Arrow!" This time, the archer fires directly at Goodwin.
"No, you won't. Trap Card open; Sacrifice of Honor!" Rex's trap forms a barrier around him, stopping the arrow. "When I receive a direct attack, I can negate it. Next, I can summon two Sacrifice Stone Tokens."
Appearing before him are two stone statues. Each one with zero attack or defense. It catches their eyes looking at it. "And finally, I can add an Earthbound God card to my hand."
He pulls from his deck, a pink bird on a card.
"Yeesh! Do all of these Dark Signers have cheating cards?!" asks Crow with annoyance.
"Yup," Lua adds, their voices somehow being projected by this field to them.
"Why would I play fair when I am the Ultimate God? If I can, I will!"
Realizing he'll be summoning it next turn, Yusei sets one card and ends his turn. Quilla returns to the field after that.
Rex draws for his turn, immediately releasing his two tokens on his Main Phase. They form into the air as the heart. "Allow me to bring for the ultimate destruction with the greatest of the Earthbound Gods; descend, Earthbound God Wiraqocha Rasca!"
The heart shines too bright for them to see. And, the people down below turn into light to be absorbed into it. Including Angela. The heart then explodes, revealing the monster within. It's a giant condor with pink markings… and an unimpressive score.
Wiraqocha Rasca: 1/1 (10)
Far from their location, the King of the Underworld spits out demon birds. They fly to the geoglyph, flocking across the scene pestering the duelists. One brushes by Crow, so he swats it away.
Meanwhile, Rex laughs. "The ceremony is reaching its climax! Even the King cannot contain its excitement seeing its Earthbound God's appearance! He is calling for me to awaken him from his deep slumber and quench the five thousand year thirst with your blood!"
One such bird of great size flies down to assault Yusei. But that is immediately slaughtered by Black Rose Dragon. It, Life Stream Dragon, and Ancient Fairy Dragon are in the skies preventing interference.
"On this field, we can harness their powers!" Luca says while commanding her dragon.
"You want a conclusion? You're gonna have to wait until it's over!" Lua adds.
"A duel is a sacred ritual; you won't interrupt them! Black Rose Flare!" Aki shouts, her dragon wiping out a few. "I may not have a D-Wheel, but I can still fight for my friends!"
"We'll fight to protect these bonds we've made!"
"Do your thing, Yusei!"
"Atlas-sama! Win!"
"Don't give in, Crow!"
With the skies clearer, the trio returns focus to their duel. Although, Crow is a little bummed the person he understands the least cheers for him. Rex dismisses it. "What a beautiful threepenny performance."
"Whatever that means, it won't shatter our bonds!" Yusei shouts to him.
"You can't even shatter destiny! Keep thinking like that, and you'll be at the mercy of this eternally persisting battle. I shall become a god and create a beautiful world. One where that will never happen. One where even Zero Reverse never happened."
That gives Yusei pause. It's… it's something he's wanted. A world where the incident that befell his friends and ruined their lives never happened… is it possible?
"Allow me to show you despair, Yusei Fudo. By skipping my Battle Phase, Wiraqocha Rasca can reduce any one player's lifepoints down to 1."
That makes them all flinch. Jack even comments, "You're just gonna reduce Yusei's life to 1 in one go?! What kind of effect is that?!"
"You just wait, Jack! You'll feel despair as well!"
Crow pulls ahead of Jack, speaking, "Sorry, but if you grow up in Satellite, you gotta get over that! No matter how tough it got, we run straight ahead with the wind whipping us by! And you know who taught us that? You!"
"... that man was capable of nothing."
"No, he wasn't! By trying to smash conventions despite the impossibilities, you… your one-time ambitions touched all of us!" Rex keeps quiet, unable to speak against him. "You might have thought you did nothing, but that spirit of yours was passed down to me, Yusei, Jack… EVERYONE IN SATELLITE! And I'll be damned if I give up!"
One of the demon birds slips by Black Rose Dragon's vines, before striking Crow's Black Bird. He slips off course against the walls.
"Wishes alone always fall short. Hopes and prayers accomplish nothing. Allow me to show you; Wiraqocha Rasca's effect!" The bird takes aim, just as Crow activates his trap card.
Life Exchange. "It redirects any effect that would alter lifepoints to me!"
"Crow, wait!"
"You're not touching Yusei! He's the very reason our bonds are as strong as they are!" Crow shouts, remembering Yusei's feelings being poured out back at Old Momentum. "I never blamed him for my life in Satellite, because just as Jack said, it wasn't his fault! If anything, I probably wouldn't have made it through without him, Jack, and Kiryu there with me! That's why, no matter how much I get hurt, so long as he's around, I won't let our bonds get severed!"
His touching words reach his friends' hearts before Rex concludes the chain. "Wiraqocha Rasca, reduce Crow's life to 1. Polestar Obey!" The condor god breathes a rose flame upon the black crow, reducing his life to 1 and blowing him off the track.
As everyone calls out for Crow, he realizes he's not ready to give up. "Goodwin, I'm taking over your title!" His machine spreads its wings, as Life Exchange's secondary takes off. "If my lifepoints change, I can destroy a monster you control!"
He adjusts his D-Wheel, taking aim. The engines kick him further, allowing Crow to smash into the only monster that can be destroyed by trap cards at the moment, Quilla. Propelled by his engines and the magic empowering this Riding Duel, he destroys the moon dragon.
"When Quilla is destroyed, it special summons Inti." As if spiting Crow, Rex summons his monster.
Crow scuffs before activating his trap; Black Feather Anchor. Armored Wing gets released as a result. "Jack! Yusei! The baton of the Legendary D-Wheeler will be passed from me to you guys! I leave this up to you guys!"
With that, he, unfortunately, crashes on a lower path, falling off his D-Wheel. At his viewing, Rex simply states, "A duelist who cannot race cannot have a turn. One down, two to go. I'll set one card and end my turn."
Crow lifts his head, eyes on his D-Wheel monitor. It shows Anchor is still active. 'I may be down, but I'm not out… I'll help you guys to the end…'
The two remaining riders grit their teeth in anger, facing Rex. "Foolish legends. It changed nothing. And you were all fools for believing in it."
"I'll show YOU the fool! My turn!" Jack draws, angrily staring at his card.
"I summon Dark Sprocketer!" Jack busts out a level 1 Tuner. "I'm tuning my level 1 Dark Sprocketer with my level 4 Mad Daemon and level 3 Magic Hole Golem!"
His tuner releases a wire that chains around his two non-Tuners, before squeezing them. It turns into a ring and quickly passes through them, before going active. "The ruler's heartbeats will now file through here! Bear witness to its creation-shattering power!"
He whips out his card before slapping it to the field. Flames billow from the earth, as a familiar dragon emerges. "Synchro Summon! My very soul, Red Daemon's Dragon!"
RDD: 3000/2000 (8)
"However, your monster is still only as strong as Inti, and even if you destroy him your monster will be destroyed by its effect allowing Quilla to rise!"
"Then I'll just go around Inti! Half Straight!" His Signer Dragon has its attack power lowered. "By cutting its attack power in half, if its attack is lower than the strongest monster my opponent controls, it can attack directly!"
Red Daemon's Dragon brims with a crimson aura as it flaps its wings. "Works perfectly well now. Red Daemon's Dragon, attack Goodwin directly!"
Flames form around its fist as it flies further. But Rex is confident. "Inti's other effect; it can reduce its attack to 0."
"What?!"
"But then, if Inti is at 0, doesn't that mean-" Lua ponders.
"That's right. Half Straight's effect is disabled. You still can't attack Wiraqocha Rasca, meaning you'll have to attack Inti."
Yusei activates a trap, Imposed End. "By sending a card on the field to the graveyard, it can end the Battle Phase. Jack, use that effect on itself!"
Rex sees an opportunity, so he speaks. "Jack Atlas, why are you still fighting? You said it yourself; you do not believe in destiny, you do not seek godhood or oppose it, and you certainly don't care for bonds!"
"Jack, don't listen to him! Use Imposed End!"
"If I recall correctly, you abandoned everyone in Satellite and betrayed them all to attain the title of King. And why? Because you can't rise to become a king without solitude. You were alone weren't you? Always alone."
"Don't slander Jack!" Yusei argues. The former king, however, simply listens silently.
"I understand that feeling. I was alone too to stand against destiny. That is how I came across the realization of becoming a God. The same applies to you; you threw it all away to become King because you could only do things yourself." Rex tightens his fists. "This nonsense about friendship and bonds makes me laugh! Yusei, humans are lonely creatures by nature! If you can't do something by yourself, how do you expect to overpower destiny with other people?!"
At that, Jack finally speaks up. "You're right… I was alone." More determined, he screams, "Red Daemon's Dragon, attack Inti! Absolute Power Force!"
His dragon bodies Inti with a powerful slug, shattering the sun dragon's body.
Rex: 5400
While the act surprises Yusei, Rex grins. "Perfect, Jack… just like what a Lone King should be… but, you must suffer the same pain I felt. Inti's effect!"
The sun dragon's supernova burns through the dragon, hitting Jack hard.
Jack: 2500
As Quilla resurrects itself, Jack sets a card. Thus allowing the Dark Signer to continue. "Jack, you have forsaken bonds, garnering no friends. That spirit is most befitting a king. But, not even that is enough to overpower destiny. You must become a god! Only a god can shape the world to how it should be-"
"What you're wrong about is this! I'm not a king!" Jack stares up at the Dark Signer. "Bonds, friendship: these were all things I abandoned. Along with that title! But after they were all gone, I gained only one tiny thing. The hope that one thing gave me is the reason why I'm still here!"
His mind recalls her. "It was through the love of a woman that I learned the truth; humans need each other! I may be able to escape destiny, but I cannot escape from that thing called bonds! Because before I knew it, I was surrounded by a bunch of pests I ended up befriending!"
This angers Rex. "I never would have believed you of all people would accept a stupid conclusion like that! You really disappoint me."
"It's not stupid!" Yusei draws for his turn. "Junk Archer's effect! I'll banish Quilla!"
As his archer takes aim and fires, Rex activates his face down. "Reverse card, Destruct Potion!"
Quilla disappears, missing the arrow. As a result, Rex's life increases to 7900. As such, since it was a destroy effect, Inti returns.
Seeing no means of getting over this, Yusei ends his turn.
"Friendship! Bonds! Legends! Love! What have they wrought?! Have they even put a scratch on destiny?! No." Rex laughs at their misfortune. "That is why I shall proceed on this thorny path! But I can give you a chance; surrender, worship me, and I shall give you all the world that you seek!"
The King gets closer to the mainland. It releases more birds, all of which Aki, Lua, and Luca fight back with their dragons. "Not much longer now. Soon the King will reach the shrine, and the world will be trapped in the underworld, starting by zeroing out with destruction."
"Your laughter disgusts me," Jack says as he drives.
As Rex draws for his turn, Yusei contemplates his next move. 'Logically, he'll want to go after me to be rid of Junk Archer's effect.'
"Daemon Chain activates!" Jack quickly uses his trap card, causing chains to wrap around Inti. With it, its effects and ability to attack are robbed.
But…
"Jack Atlas," begins Rex as he stares at him from above. "you said it yourself, right? Humans cannot become lonely so easily. But you were wrong there; there is one way for humans to become alone very easily, and that's through death. The journey to the afterlife is always alone after all… allow me to show you that!"
He aims his hand and his condor at Jack, shouting, "Polestar Obey!"
The pink flames strike Jack, causing him to cry out in pain. "… when my lifepoints are reduced below 1000, Daemon Chain is destroyed."
Rex laughs at Jack's plight. "And now, conceive your weakness! King of the Underworld, may you offer Jack Atlas as a sacrifice!"
Eventually, the King of the Underworld reaches the mainland, causing everyone to flee. With some of its powers returning, it fires a golden beam of energy at Jack, causing him to spin out. Its power completely blitz past Black Rose, Life Stream, and Ancient Fairy.
"How does it feel, Jack!? The helplessness?! The despair?!"
"I'm not going to despair yet, because as far as I know, we're not dead!" Those words come too soon as his wheel bumps and he's thrown off his seat like Crow.
"Jack!" Yusei shouts as he passes him.
He picks his head up, looking at the screen of his machine. "Even if my D-Wheel… cannot run… I leave these hopes to you… Yusei, it's up to you…"
Nodding, Yusei keeps driving. "Guys, I've accepted your wishes."
"And then there was one, the foolish one…" Rex says as he stares down the lone rider. "On the verge of death and still trying to cover up your terror as much as possible… I'll set this card and end my turn."
With that, Yusei draws for his turn. "Junk Archer's effect! Dimension Shoot!"
"Incorrigible…" Rex quickly activates the card opposite the one he set. "Counter Trap, Temper of Vai Mahse!"
A trap flips open and blocks the arrow before a black smog shoots at the archer. It slowly tears him apart, before turning him into black sludge and shattering him. Scuffing, Yusei places Shield Warrior into defense mode and sets a card.
"You've inherited their wills, and all you can do is summon a shield? This is why I declared bonds to be useless. Besides, defenses mean nothing to my Earthbound God Wiraqocha Rasca." Rex draws for his turn, his black and teal eyes focusing on Yusei.
"Yusei Fudo, it is finally time you experienced the despair and solitude one feels before the verge of death as well! And you will finally understand that such things called bonds do not exist!" As Rex makes his declaration, he takes aim at Yusei. "Wiraqocha Rasca's effect; by skipping my Battle Phase, I shall reduce your life points to 1!"
Yusei braces himself as it comes. The condor moans before breathing in and firing upon him. "Polestar Obey!" He screams loudly as he gets pulverized by the flames.
"YUSEI!" He emerges from the smoke, still feeling the sting of flames.
"Now your combined lifepoints are 3. Savor the taste of despair…"
Yusei simply coughs. "Sorry, but I have yet to falter. I have hope, so I won't falter. What supports that hope are the bonds with my friends!"
"You just don't give up, do you?" Rex taunts as Yusei draws for his turn.
Yusei stares at his card. "Speed Spell – Angel Baton! I can draw two cards and send one card in my hand to the graveyard!" He adds one of the cards he sent to his hand before ditching the other. "Next, I summon Debris Dragon!"
His next monster is a miniature version of Stardust or one of them.
Debris: 1000/2000 (4) Tuner
"Debris Dragon will special summon the Road Runner I sent to the graveyard!" Road Runner revives, allowing him to go through with what he needs. "I'll now tune my level 4 Debris Dragon with my level 3 Shield Warrior and my level 1 Road Runner!"
As his dragon becomes rings, they pass through his two monsters. "Clustering wishes shall merge together to form a new shining star; become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon!"
From the light of Synchro comes glitters of stars. Flying with them is… "Take flight, Stardust Dragon!"
Stardust Dragon: 2500/2000 (8)
"Looks like your hopes have run dry; it has such small attack points."
"You know what, that doesn't matter because I have my friends' wishes!"
"And what good will their garbage thoughts produce?!"
As if answering him, Yusei activates the face up card Crow still has. "Black Feather Anchor – by sending it to the graveyard, Stardust Dragon gains Armored Wing's attack power!"
Stardust Dragon: 5000
"This is all thanks to Crow believing in us! Stardust Dragon, attack Inti!" The cosmic dragon fires a white stream of stellar energy that pierces Inti, causing it to supernova.
Rex: 5900
Angered, Rex retaliates using Inti's effect. However, Stardust's is superior. Yusei uses Victim's Sanctuary, blocking and negating it.
"As the sun sets, the moon comes to view… and so, the sun shall rise again. That natural providence ordained by destiny can be stopped by no one! Quilla's effect!" Rex raises his hand to use Quilla's power.
"Is that what you think?" Upon saying that, Jack's trap card opens up.
Seeing it, Rex gasps when the Continuous Trap High Ruler's Conquest activates. "By sending this card to the graveyard, it negates your monster's summoning." So before Quilla can rise, it returns to the graveyard just as quickly.
"They finally connected," speaks Crow weakly.
"Our bonds…" finishes Jack.
"At the End Phase, Stardust is revived! Turn end!" Stardust rebuilds itself before flying above its master.
As Yusei drives down the road, he turns to Goodwin. "Goodwin, our bonds are what helps us move forward. They're what keep us together. With them, we'll never fall into despair. You of all people should understand that!"
"Enough prattle!" he retorts, denying everything Yusei says. "Complete solitude, throwing away all that I care for, surpassing humanity; without getting rid of worthless things like bonds and others, I never would have become the god that I am now!"
"If you've really given up everything, then does that include your brother?!"
"What?!" That takes him back, a moment Yusei and the others catch.
"As the legendary D-Wheeler, there was a time you tried to oppose destiny and started the Daedalus Bridge legend, but really, you were just following your brother's will, weren't you?!"
His words sting him. It reemerges a memory deep within Rex. "That arm of yours belongs to your brother, Goodwin…"
Regardless, he denies it shouting, "SO WHAT OF IT?! Face reality, Yusei Fudo! Your lifepoints are a candle in the wind, and the King of the Underworld is minutes away! Since the others can't continue, once you're dead I win!"
Rex draws for his turn, immediately ignoring it. "Trap card open, Meteor Prominence! This trap card allows me to discard two cards to deal 2000 points of damage to you!"
His trap card releases a blast of flames upon Yusei.
"Nice try! Joint Future!" Yusei's trap produces a barrier to block the fire. "By discarding one card, your trap is negated!"
"That's not the end of it. Meteor Prominence can add itself back to my hand instead of drawing!"
"No you won't; Joint Future shuffles your card into the deck!"
Angered, Rex slides his card into his deck before it shuffles. But, he isn't too upset. "Because I still have this. Yusei, I will attack you directly with Wiraqocha Rasca!"
The others become worried wondering how he'll get out of this. "Allow me to blow away that candle in the wind lifepoint! Death Singularity!"
The condor flaps its wings before diving for Yusei. The ground trembles with its presence. "YUSEI! Now is the time for you to use your card!"
Hearing Jack's voice, the rider realizes why Jack didn't use it. "Imposed End's effect! By sending this card to the graveyard, the Battle Phase ends!"
A barrier forms once more, forcing Wiraqocha Rasca to fly back. Yusei continues driving, coming closer to Rex Goodwin and his shrine. "Turn end…"
"GOODWIN!" Yusei shouts. "You don't really want to become God, right? You simply just couldn't forget your brother."
"SILENCE! I cannot become a god unless I can surpass my brother!"
"YOU'RE LYING!" A third voice enters this conversation. Looking down where the others are, Lua makes his grand statement. This is something only possible due to the field magnifying their voices. "THERE'S NO WAY YOU'VE THROWN AWAY YOUR BROTHER! Everyone has something they can't forget! Something that lies within their heart, no matter what."
Rex glances down at the child he deemed unworthy of his attention due to not being a Signer. Looking back briefly, Yusei nods as Lua continues. "And for you, that's your brother! Your brother went on a tirade on how you can't fight destiny, but he's been doing that ever since he gave you his arm! And now here you are! Just like how Luca and I couldn't fight the Dark Signers by ourselves, you're trying to fight destiny alongside your brother!
"And… isn't that what bonds are all about?"
Hearing the little boy's heart, Rex has a slight change in his. Realization hits him. To coincide with it, a glow forms on the top of Yusei's deck. As well, the mark of the dragon disappears from Goodwin's chest.
The mark returns upon its original owners, the Claw on Luca, the Foot on Aki, and the Wings on Jack. But just as strangely, a bright light forms around Lua. On his left arm, a mark forms.
"Wait, is this…"
With Yusei, the Tail forms on his left arm. "My left arm?" He then notices something else; the Head pops up on his right arm. "The Dragon Head and Tail formed on me?!"
As for Lua, he gains a brand new mark. It takes the shape of an oval heart with three circles tagged up top. "What's this?!"
Rex backs up, falling to despair. He's nothing but a Dark Signer now. "No… didn't the Crimson Dragon… choose the God-like being that was me?!"
"NO! It chose bonds! And it's these bonds that will allow us to surpass destiny!"
All of the marks disappear, reforming onto Yusei's back. In addition, the new Heart mark forms just underneath the Claw. With his friends' wishes on his back, Yusei draws for the last turn.
After he draws, his eyes pick up a vision. Normally, he would have a card ready to wipe out Wiraqocha Rasca, but something new has arrived. "I summon Savior Dragon!"
The pink dragon Tuner returns. Gasping, Rex shouts, "That card is-"
"By the summoning condition of this monster, I can use one Savior Dragon and Stardust Dragon to Synchro Summon this monster." Savior Dragon flies high in the air, followed by Stardust. As Savior Dragon produces that sole ring, Stardust is illuminated and transformed into stars.
That is when a shadow looms over the Signers down below. All of them run in fear as the King of the Underworld has finally reached them.
"Clustering wishes shall call down the dragon star god to cleanse the Earth. Become the path the light shines upon; Synchro Summon!" Yusei raises his hand as his beast arrives.
From the light of Synchro, it arrives. The being spreads crimson wings, claws, feet, a tail, and opens its jaws. A familiar roar echoes throughout the field. "Ryuseishin – Akakiryu!"
Ryuseishin – The Crimson Dragon: ?/? (12)
"The… the Crimson Dragon?!" Jack realizes looking up at it.
"Did Yusei just summon the dragon that gave us our marks?" asks Lua looking at it.
"The Crimson Dragon's effect; by banishing a Tuner from my hand, it can Synchro Summon one Dragon Synchro Monster!" He reveals Nitro Synchron in his hand before putting it away. He then lifts his D-Wheel to jump, merging with the newly arrived monster.
"The shine of clustering stars will illuminate a new miracle! Become the path its light shines upon! Arrive in Light, Savior Star Dragon!" Yusei appears in the form of his strongest monster, Savior Star Dragon.
"Savior Star Dragon's effect; it negates Wiraqocha Rasca's effect and steals it!" Light particles flow from the condor, weakening it. "Next, the Crimson Dragon will gain the attack power of every Dragon-Type Synchro on the field and in the GY! Including Stardust and Red Daemon's Dragon, that's a total of…"
The dragon howls as the two Signer Dragons and Savior Star Dragon give it power.
Crimson Dragon: 9300/7000
"9300?!"
"Crimson Dragon, destroy the Earthbound God Wiraqocha Rasca!"
The dragon howls before releasing a wave of energy upon Savior Star Dragon. Yusei's Majestic monster acts as the cone for its ramming attack, the dragon god flying at full speed.
Rex looks on helplessly. "Yusei… Fudo… you can control the-"
The divine star dragon pierces through Wiraqocha Rasca, causing it to explode and release all of the souls within. Rex screams as he disperses, the divine temple falls apart as well. Upon victory, the Crimson Dragon makes a U-turn for the King of the Underworld. It fires a beam upon them, a futile effort. With the dragon biting down on Savior Star they fly through like nothing straight into its mouth.
Within, Yusei finds himself in a different plane. Space is all around him. And behind him? The deceased Dark Signers: Kiryu, Bomber, Misty, Carly, and Demak.
"Everyone…"
"Yusei Fudo…" In front of him, he sees Rex Goodwin with his brother Rudger.
The two brothers torn apart by destiny look at one another. Rex speaks, "Brother, it would appear we have taken a roundabout course."
"It would appear so, Rex…"
They turn to the son of their former boss. "Yusei Fudo, without you we would never have been able to realize this; you were right. The bonds between human friendship are indeed the means of opposing destiny."
Rudger turns to the unconscious Dark Signers. "Yusei, take care of them. They will revive soon. But us? It's time we closed the chapter of this book."
The brothers then walk off into a bright light.
Back to reality, Yusei and the Crimson Dragon pierce through the king. It cries a horrible moan before shattering into light. Such illumination blankets all of Japan. But, that's the good news. The bad news is with the duel's conclusion, the geoglyph disappears.
As does the footing that holds Crow and Jack.
"Atlas-sama!"
"Crow!"
Luckily, Yusei flies down using the Crimson Dragon to save them. The light from the king's death pops, returning the world to night. The Crimson Dragon howls before dispersing, leaving only Yusei as Savior Star Dragon.
The conflict is over… is it?
