No,no,no. I can't lose him! Night worried, lunging towards him. Luckily, she was quick, pulling Qibli down underwater as the flames shot past. But not quick enough for herself.

Arghhhhh! Night screamed in her head as the flames reached the tip of her tail. Bubbles flew out of her mouth and she yanked her tail under.

Night! Are you okay? Qibli thought, grabbing her to hold her up. Moon got hurt too… Night didn't have time for Qibli's "Moony" thoughts. Night checked her tail, which had a deep, painful burn, and shot up to the surface. She gasped and gasped. Night felt Qibli come up next to her.

"Are you okay?" He asked. Night nodded. She wasn't sure what to think. The "Menace" suddenly launched into the sky, leaving the injured dragonets.

"Tsunami!" Night cried in horror, running over to the fierce teacher. Tsunami opened her eyes and blinked. She then launched up yelling, "Yes, fly away! You don't get away with attacking the school!" Sunny and Clay flew up to her and dragged her down the hall.

"You should probably also go to the infirmary," Kinkajou said, pointing to Night's burn. She shivered and curled her tail in. Qibli brushed her wing and Night gave him a grateful look.

"I'm just happy to be alive," Night admitted, leaning into Qibli and sighing.

"Let's go anyway," Qibli agreed. Night nodded with another sigh and followed Kinkajou there…

"That looks like it hurts. Do you need painkillers?" Clay asked Night as she laid on one of the beds. Night stared at him.

"You have that? Yes, please!" Night said quickly, closing her water-soaked eyes.

"Yes and I should tell your mother about this. Is that okay? What's her name? I can get Queen Glory to tell her," Sunny suggested, brushing Night's wing with one of her warm wings as Night drank the liquid.

"Yes, sure and her name is Sharpclaws," Night said sleepily. The painkillers definitely were working but it did make her wanna sleep.

"Rest," Qibli said softly, taking one of Night's talons. She patted his talon with her other one.

"But I don't wanna… maybe I do," Night said with a yawn. Qibli laughed and turned to Sunny and Clay.

"Will she be okay?" Qibli asked anxiously. Clay nodded. Sunny smiled at him.

"I'm happy you two have bonded," She said warmly.

"Yeahh…" Night yawned even more sleepily. Qibli nudged her affectionately.

"I feel so appreciated," He joked. Night weakly swatted him.

"Good night then," Night said before closing her eyes. Finally, she could rest.

—-

"Ack!" Night yelped as cold water splashed over her. She sat up to see Blizzard holding an empty bucket of water and Squelch giggling behind her.

"Whoops," Blizzard said smugly. Night groaned and got an amused look from Blizzard. Night climbed out of the bed and swatted Blizzard. In response, Blizzard slapped her back.

"Why? Seriously?" Night grumbled, pushing them out of the way and almost bumping into Qibli.

"Night!" he cried.

"Qibli!" she cried back, jumping into his wings and snuggling in. Qibli wrapping his wings around her. She fit perfectly. Night sighed and stepped back.

"Are you okay?" he asked, meeting her eyes. Night nodded and bounced down the hallway.

"I feel so alive!" She said happily, jumping from side to side. Qibli looked at her worriedly.

Are you sure? Qibli thought. Night jumped over him and laughed.

"Yes! I feel amazing!" Night said. She tripped over Qibli and giggled as they both fell.

"It's just you're…energetic?" Qibli said slowly.

"Can I not be?" Night said, nudging him. He shook his head and grabbed her, flying down the hallway, sending Night into a fit of laughter.

"Kink!" She yelped, untangling herself from Qibli and jumping toward the Rainwing.

"Oh! Hi Night!" Kinkajou yelped back. She blinked at Qibli and he shrugged.

"I guess it was the painkillers," He said, both worried for Night, but also overjoyed she found him so funny.

"Guys, stop being so worried! I'm fine, oh…urgh" Night clutched her head, closed her eyes and winced. She then opened her eyes.

"Guys? What happened?" Night groaned, sitting down. Qibli put a wing around her.

"I was crazy, wasn't I?" Night sighed. Kinkajou grinned at her.

"You were adorable," Kinkajou smiled. Night sighed again and shook her head. She leaned into Qibli.

"I feel… alright, but also, not," Night admitted. She stepped away from Qibli and sat on the floor.

"Everyone is still terrified. It… it hurts," Night explained, rubbing her head.

"And your tail?" Qibli asked. Night smiled up at him.

"All bandaged. It doesn't hurt anymore," Night said soothingly, patting one of his wings. Kinkajou jumped up and hugged Night, startling her into falling over. Kinkajou bursted into giggles at Night's annoyed look.

"Oh three moons, Kinkajou. You almost gave me a heart attack!" Night cried, shoving her away with a smile. Kinkajou laughed at Night and jumped up.

"Let's go see Turtle! Beat you there!" Kinkajou dared, bolting off. Night turned to Qibli.

"Was that what I was like?" Night asked, puzzled. Qibli laughed and nodded and Night gave him a horrified look, making him laugh even more. They followed Kinkajou down the hall to Qibli's cave.

"Oh! Hello!" Turtle yelped in surprise when Kinkajou jumped in front of him. She grinned at him and dragged Turtle over to Night and Qibli.

"Hi Qibli! And… Night, right? Hello," Turtle said. Night nodded.

"I like your bracelet. Is that skyfire?" Night asked. Turtle looked at her and nodded. Night shuffled her talons awkwardly. She wasn't the hugest fan of Turtle. He seemed nice enough, but even without reading his mind, Night could tell he just thought of her as another Moon.

"I- I gotta go," Night said quickly, darting out the room. She could feel her friends' eyes travelling after her. Night could feel tears welling up. She hastily wiped the tears away and dived into the underground lake. Water soaked into her scales and Night sighed.

I just wanna go home. Night realised. She hadn't thought that since she arrived. Night floated in the water, wings spread. She closed her eyes, allowing tears to fall. Was she even a different dragon? If everyone thought of her as another Moon, isn't she just that?

No, because there is Mother. Night thought ruefully, dipping her head underwater.

"Ack!" Night cried as a beige head popped out of the water.

Viper earrings, oh. Snake. Night thought. She tilted her head at Snake. Does she enjoy the water? Weren't Sandwings used to the desert, not lakes?

No. They have oases, which have lakes. Night corrected herself.

"Hello," Snake said, splashing Night with her tail.

"Hey! Careful!" Night said, jumping deep into the water. When she came back up, Snake was laughing. Night tried to regard her coldly, but couldn't resist a smile. Dragonets like Snake were fun.

"Night, right? I'm Snake," Snake explained, swimming over to Night. Night smiled shyly at her.

"You are probably the one of nicest new dragonets here to me," Night admitted. Snake glanced at her in surprise.

"Am I still… fierce?" She said, eying Night.

"Oh yes! You don't have to be mean to be scary," Night said, with a grin.

"Okay… but I'm definitely not as nice as Seal. Maybe he lives up to his name!" Snake cried with a matching grin to Night's. Night laughed.

"I like your jewellery," Night said shyly. Snake nudged her.

"It fits me. Makes me look as fierce as I am. Very useful in the Scorpion Den," Snake clarified.

"Wait… you grew up in the Scorpion Den?" Night asked, feeling stupid. It matched the way she did things. Snake nodded.

Just like Qibli… No, I will not treat Snake like how Qibli, Kinkajou and Turtle treat me. Night thought fiercely. Night smiled at her.

"So you're in the Gold Winglet?" Night asked. Snake nodded again and dove underwater. Night didn't even mind getting splashed this time. Instead, she dove under and followed Snake down the lake.

"How can you hold for so long? Aren't you used to the desert?" Night gasped. Snake looked at her and splashed Night again. She laughed.

"Okay! I'm sorry, but I wanna know!" Night giggled, splashing her back.

"Well, there was a huge pool I cleaned myself in. I guess I learnt to hold for a long time because of that," Snake shrugged. She climbed out of the lake and shook herself dry.

I don't need Qibli or Kinkajou or Turtle. I have someone who accepts me for who I am, as she has never met Moon. Night thought, lifting her head up.

"Come on!" Snake cried as the gongs went off. Night smiled and followed her. Snake, her friend. What could go wrong?
